Investigational New Drug application planned for submission to the U.S. FDA in the fourth quarter of 2026, advancing the Company’s regulatory path toward NDA filing for gout program XRx-026
CALGARY, Alberta, Sept. 18, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — XORTX Therapeutics Inc. (“XORTX” or the “Company”) (NASDAQ: XRTX), a late-stage clinical pharmaceutical company focused on developing innovative therapies to treat gout and progressive kidney disease, outlines its anticipated Investigational New Drug application (“IND”) submission to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (the “FDA”) for the XRx-026 gout program. XORTX’s drug development plan is to seek FDA marketing approval for XRx-026 and provide patients with a new therapeutic option. The key steps the Company anticipates will be necessary to file a marketing application with the FDA include meetings with the agency, a two-part clinical study to characterize the pharmacokinetics and efficacy of the XORLO™ formulation of oxypurinol, and manufacture of a commercial supply of XORLO™ for the first year of marketing.
Recent drug development team activities include preparation of a new IND for submission to the FDA in the fourth quarter of 2026. The application describes the Company’s clinical development plan and its intention to file a New Drug Application (“NDA”) with the FDA following completion of the planned two-part XRX-OXY-102 clinical trial, which is being advanced based on positive and supportive prior clinical trial results and discussions with the FDA. The focus of the XRX-OXY-102 clinical trial is to characterize key information needed by the FDA in its evaluation of a future NDA filing by XORTX for marketing approval.
If the XRX-OXY-102 clinical trial is successfully completed, the Company anticipates requesting a pre-NDA meeting with the FDA and preparing an NDA submission, in parallel with pre-commercialization activities. Subject to the availability of sufficient funding and the timely completion of the XRX-OXY-102 clinical trial, XORTX is targeting an NDA submission in approximately one year. Based on prior peak net sales for febuxostat, XORTX estimates the XRx-026 program addresses an estimated US$700M market opportunity per annum.
“Our planned IND submission to the FDA next quarter is a defining step for the XRx-026 program,” stated Allen Davidoff, Co-Chief Executive Officer of XORTX, who added, “It reflects the strength of our prior clinical results and moves us closer to potentially offering gout patients a differentiated treatment option.”
This planned submission is one part of XORTX’s broader regulatory strategy for XRx-026, and the Company looks forward to providing further updates on its international development plans.
About Hyperuricemia and Gout
In the United States, approximately 44 million individuals have uric acid levels above the normal range, with 9.2 million individuals living with gout1. Gout is associated with severe pain, reduced quality of life2, decreased physical function3, increased healthcare costs4, and lost economic productivity5. It is also strongly associated with metabolic syndrome5, myocardial infarction6,7, Type 2 diabetes mellitus8, chronic kidney disease9, and premature mortality6,10,11. Importantly, the global prevalence of gout is increasing, with cases expected to increase 70% over the next 25 years*.
About the XRx-026 Program and XORLO™
The XRx-026 program is developing XORLO™, the Company’s proprietary formulation of oxypurinol, to treat individuals with gout. Oral xanthine oxidase inhibitors (XOIs) are the current standard of care, but limitations remain: approximately 3–5% of patients cannot tolerate allopurinol, and febuxostat, while once achieving >US$450 million in annual sales, now carries a boxed warning for cardiovascular risk. XORLO™ is designed to address this unmet need by providing an alternative therapeutic option with a differentiated safety and efficacy profile. Advancement of XRx-026 through NDA filing is a strategic priority for XORTX.

Artificial intelligence is quickly moving from novelty to necessity. What began with chatbots and content generation is now expanding into everyday applications: smart homes, immersive entertainment, intelligent collaboration tools, real-time cloud services, and AI-assisted workflows across industries.
As AI becomes more integrated into daily life and business operations, one reality is becoming clear: AI performance is only as strong as the network beneath it.
AI changes what broadband means
For years, broadband conversations focused primarily on download speeds. In the AI era, , modern AI use cases depend on several network characteristics at once:
- Low latency for responsive, real-time interactions
- High reliability for consistent service quality
- Symmetrical speeds to support uploads, sharing, collaboration, and cloud processing
- Scalability to handle rising data volumes and more connected devices
Whether a household is using AI-powered learning tools or a business is running cloud-based automation, the network must keep up without friction. Performance consistency now matters as much as peak speed.
Why fiber is foundational
Fiber broadband is uniquely suited to support AI-driven demand because it combines capacity, stability, and future-ready scalability. It provides the headroom needed for increasingly interactive and data-intensive applications—today and over the long term.
In practical terms, fiber enables:
- Smoother AI-powered video and collaboration experiences
- Better performance for cloud-based creation and compute-heavy applications
- Stronger support for multi-device homes and distributed work environments
- A durable infrastructure foundation for next-generation services
As AI use accelerates, this distinction becomes more important. Networks that cannot deliver consistent performance risk creating uneven access to AI-enabled opportunities. Recent data shows that those with a fiber connection utilize AI more frequently and for more complex tasks than those with other technology types.
The new digital divide is about capability
The next phase of digital inclusion is not only about being connected, it is about being connected well enough to participate fully in an AI-enabled economy.
If some communities have infrastructure that can support advanced AI experiences while others do not, the gap widens in education, work, healthcare access, entrepreneurship, and overall economic competitiveness.
That is why fiber is more than a technology choice. It is a long-term economic and societal investment.
From buildout to readiness
Over the past several years, public and private investments helped expand broadband availability to the hardest to reach locations. The next challenge is readiness: ensuring networks are built not only for yesterday’s internet needs, but for tomorrow’s intelligence-driven applications.
This is where industry collaboration matters—across operators, technology partners, policymakers, and ecosystem players—to accelerate deployment, improve resilience, and maximize long-term value from broadband investments.
Looking ahead
AI will continue to reshape how people live, learn, and work. To unlock its full potential, we need infrastructure designed for real-time, high-performance, bidirectional digital experiences.
Fiber is that infrastructure.
The AI era will reward communities and organizations that build with the future in mind. The question is no longer whether we need high-capacity networks—it’s whether we are moving fast enough to ensure everyone can benefit from what comes next.

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 18, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — VisionWave Holdings, Inc. (Nasdaq: VWAV) (“VisionWave” or the “Company”), a defense technology and artificial intelligence company, today announced that it will effect a 1-for-20 reverse stock split of its issued and outstanding shares of common stock (the “Reverse Stock Split”).
The Reverse Stock Split will become effective at 12:01 a.m., Eastern Time, on September 22, 2026. The Company’s common stock will continue to trade on The Nasdaq Global Market under the symbol “VWAV” and is expected to begin trading on a split-adjusted basis when the market opens on September 22, 2026. The common stock will be assigned a new CUSIP number, 927950204.
At the Company’s 2026 Annual Meeting of Stockholders held on September 1, 2026, the stockholders approved an amendment to the Company’s Amended and Restated Certificate of Incorporation to effect a reverse stock split of the outstanding shares of common stock at a ratio of not more than 1-for-250, with the exact ratio and the timing thereof to be determined by the Board of Directors in its sole discretion. On September 3, 2026, the Board of Directors set the ratio at 1-for-20 and approved the filing of a Certificate of Amendment of Amended and Restated Certificate of Incorporation with the Secretary of State of the State of Delaware, which the Company filed on September 16, 2026.
The Reverse Stock Split is primarily intended to increase the per share trading price of the Company’s common stock in order to maintain compliance with the $1.00 minimum bid price requirement for continued listing on The Nasdaq Global Market under Nasdaq Listing Rule 5450(a)(1).
As a result of the Reverse Stock Split, every twenty (20) shares of the Company’s issued and outstanding common stock, and shares held in treasury, will automatically be combined into one (1) share of common stock. The Reverse Stock Split will reduce the number of issued and outstanding shares of common stock from approximately 47.5 million shares to approximately 2.4 million shares, subject to adjustment for the rounding up of fractional shares described below. The Reverse Stock Split will not change the par value of the common stock, which will remain $0.01 per share, and will not change the number of authorized shares of the Company’s capital stock, which will remain 160,000,000 shares, consisting of 150,000,000 shares of common stock and 10,000,000 shares of preferred stock. Accordingly, the number of authorized but unissued shares of common stock available for future issuance will increase substantially relative to the number of shares outstanding, and future issuances of those shares could be dilutive to existing stockholders.
No fractional shares will be issued in connection with the Reverse Stock Split. Any fractional share that would otherwise result from the Reverse Stock Split will be rounded up to the next whole share. For this purpose, all shares of common stock held of record by a stockholder immediately prior to the effective time will be aggregated. No stockholder will receive a cash payment in lieu of a fractional share, and no stockholder will be cashed out of the Company as a result of the Reverse Stock Split.
Proportionate adjustments will be made to the number of shares of common stock issuable upon the exercise, conversion or vesting of the Company’s outstanding warrants, pre-funded warrants, stock options, restricted stock units and convertible notes, and to the applicable exercise, conversion or purchase prices thereof, as well as to the number of shares reserved for issuance under the Company’s equity incentive plans, in each case in accordance with the terms of the applicable instrument or plan.
Stockholders holding shares in book-entry form or through a bank, broker or other nominee do not need to take any action in connection with the Reverse Stock Split; their positions will be adjusted automatically to reflect the Reverse Stock Split. Beneficial holders with questions regarding the processing of the Reverse Stock Split should contact their bank, broker or other nominee. Registered stockholders holding shares directly with the Company’s transfer agent, Continental Stock Transfer & Trust Company, will receive information from the transfer agent regarding their holdings following the effective time. Additional information regarding the Reverse Stock Split is contained in the Company’s definitive proxy statement filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission on July 23, 2026, and in the Current Report on Form 8-K to be filed by the Company in connection with the Reverse Stock Split.

ROAD TOWN, British Virgin Islands, Sept. 18, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Aura Minerals Inc. (“Aura Minerals” or the “Company” or the “Borrower”) (NASDAQ: AUGO | B3: AURA33) announced today that it has entered into a syndicated loan facility (the “Loan”), in the aggregate principal amount of US$ 200,000,000.00 (two hundred million dollars), as borrower at the holding company level.
Citigroup Global Markets Inc. (“Citi”) and Itaú BBA Assessoria Financeira S.A., acted as joint lead arrangers and bookrunners for the Loan.
The Loan will bear interest at a rate of SOFR + 2.70% per year with two years grace period and maturity of 5 years. Rodrigo Barbosa, CEO and President, commented: “We are pleased to announce this USD 200 million syndicated loan facility, a further step in strengthening Aura’s capital structure and extending our financial flexibility as we keep increasing our production towards our target of producing over 600k GEO per year in the medium term, including the ongoing construction of Era Dorada and expansion of production capacity at Almas and the expected expansion of Borborema. Securing this Loan at a SOFR + 2.70% reflects our operational momentum, robust cash generation and disciplined growth strategy. At Aura, our approach to capital allocation remains balanced and consistent — combining prudent liability management with continued investment in our growth pipeline, while maintaining the financial discipline that has defined our track record. This transaction further diversifies our funding sources and supports the current phase of value creation for our shareholders under the Aura 360 culture.”
