CBAM entered its definitive phase on 1 January 2026, and the first declaration falls due in September 2027. And most of what decides whether a verification goes well is settled before it begins. So what does being ready for CBAM verification look like?Join Tarik Bellahcene and Gerard van der Ven as they talk through what to have in place first, what a verification actually involves, and what it costs to find out late.

What they’ll cover:

  • How to establish who manufactured your goods, and why one unverified supplier further up the chain can push everything below it onto default values
  • What a verification really involves and what has to be in place before it can begin
  • What default values cost against verified figures, given they are set deliberately high, and how much ground a year of preparation covers

Who this is for: EU importers and authorized declarants preparing for their first declaration, and the non-EU manufacturers who generate the data behind it.

The 2026 MICHELIN Key Hotels: A Guide to the Global Selection

Inspectors just unveiled the global MICHELIN Keys for 2026
Inspectors just unveiled the global MICHELIN Keys for 2026
  • 189 hotels across Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Morocco, Egypt, South Africa and India receive the MICHELIN Key distinction
  • 9 Hotels Receive the Three MICHELIN Keys
  • 2 Properties Recognised Among the MICHELIN Guide’s Four Special Awards

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, Sept. 18, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — The MICHELIN Guide has unveiled its 2026 MICHELIN Key selection, recognising 2,832 hotels worldwide for exceptional stays. Following months of anonymous inspections, the global selection welcomes nearly 470 newly distinguished hotels across 79 destinations, reflecting a hospitality landscape shaped by increasingly immersive, personalised and experiential stays.

Across the Middle East, Africa and India, 189 hotels across 11 destinations have been awarded MICHELIN Keys, bringing together an increasingly diverse hospitality landscape, from landmark city hotels and historic palaces to desert retreats, safari lodges, contemporary resorts and intimate properties shaped by their surroundings.

Of the 189 hotels selected, 130 receive One MICHELIN Key, 50 receive Two MICHELIN Keys and 9 receive the highest distinction of Three MICHELIN Keys.

More than a measure of luxury, the 2026 selection reflects the different ways a hotel can create an exceptional stay: through architecture and design, a distinctive personality, deeply considered service, a strong connection to its setting or an experience that gives travellers a reason to discover a destination.

From Desert Landscapes to Historic Palaces: A Hospitality Landscape Shaped by Place

The 2026 selection reflects a broader evolution in hospitality, with distinctive design, immersive experiences and a stronger sense of place increasingly shaping the way travellers experience a destination.

That diversity is particularly visible across the region.

In Saudi Arabia, 17 hotels receive MICHELIN Keys, including Desert Rock Resort, which receives Three MICHELIN Keys as well as the MICHELIN Guide Architecture & Design Award. Set within the Hijaz Mountains, the property is recognised for its striking integration with the surrounding landscape.

The United Arab Emirates receives 25 MICHELIN Keys, including a Three MICHELIN Keys distinction for Atlantis The Royal, Dubai, while Qatar has 11 Key hotels. The wider Gulf selection also includes three Key hotels in Bahrain, 3 in Oman and 2 in Kuwait, alongside 5 hotels in Jordan.

In Morocco, 31 hotels receive MICHELIN Keys, including Three MICHELIN Key properties Kasbah Tamadot and La Mamounia, reflecting the country’s distinctive blend of architecture, heritage, landscape and contemporary hospitality. Egypt adds 13 MICHELIN Key hotels to the regional selection, including 2 Two MICHELIN Key properties, further expanding the recognition of the region’s diverse hospitality offering.

Further south, South Africa has 32 MICHELIN Key hotels, including 3 Three MICHELIN Key properties. Londolozi Game Reserve also receives the MICHELIN Guide Local Gateway Award, recognising its distinctive connection to its setting and its approach to hospitality.

India has the largest number of MICHELIN Key hotels among the 11 destinations in this regional selection, with 47 properties recognised. Two historic properties, Taj Falaknuma Palace in Hyderabad and Taj Lake Palace in Udaipur, receive Three MICHELIN Keys, bringing the distinction to 2 of India’s most distinctive palace hotels.

Together, the selection demonstrates the breadth of hospitality being recognised by the MICHELIN Guide, where an exceptional stay can take many forms and where individuality, character and a meaningful relationship with place are central to the experience.

Nine Hotels Receive the MICHELIN Guide’s Highest Hotel Distinction

Among the 189 hotels recognised across the 11 destinations, 9 receive Three MICHELIN Keys, the MICHELIN Guide’s highest hotel distinction.

The 2026 Three MICHELIN Key selection includes:

  • Desert Rock Resort, Saudi Arabia
  • Atlantis The Royal, Dubai, United Arab Emirates
  • Kasbah Tamadot, Morocco
  • La Mamounia, Morocco
  • Royal Malewane, South Africa
  • Delaire Graff Estate, South Africa
  • Londolozi Game Reserve, South Africa
  • Taj Falaknuma Palace, India
  • Taj Lake Palace, India

Together, these properties represent distinctly different interpretations of an extraordinary stay, spanning desert landscapes, safari experiences, historic palaces, destination resorts and landmark urban hospitality.

A Global Selection Reflecting a Changing Hospitality Landscape

The regional selection forms part of the MICHELIN Guide’s second global MICHELIN Key selection, which now includes 2,832 Key hotels worldwide, comprising 2,020 One-Key, 657 Two-Key and 155 Three-Key hotels.

Across the global selection, nearly 470 hotels have been newly distinguished, with MICHELIN Keys now spanning 79 destinations. The 2026 selection also sees the distinction introduced for the first time in 10 destinations, further expanding the MICHELIN Guide’s presence across the world of hospitality.

For Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the MICHELIN Guide, the continued expansion of the hotel selection reflects a rapidly evolving hospitality sector:

“This second global selection of the MICHELIN Keys reflects the extraordinary momentum driving the hospitality sector once again this year. With 470 newly distinguished establishments, we are witnessing a continuous upscaling of the offering, driven by even more creative and ambitious projects. All around the world, hoteliers are reinventing the stay experience through more immersive, personalized, and experiential concepts.

This capacity for innovation is expressed both in must-visit destinations and in emerging tourist markets. Often driven by visionary independent hotelkeepers, this evolution in concepts is now inspiring the industry as a whole. It is also supported by investments from major international groups, which are helping to accelerate this transformation. The 2026 selection thus celebrates the diversity, vitality, and excellence of an ever-evolving sector, one that continues to push the boundaries of the hospitality experience and invite travelers to discover new destinations.”

Two Regional Properties Among the MICHELIN Guide’s Four Special Awards

The 2026 MICHELIN Guide selection also includes four Special Awards recognising hotels whose distinctive approaches stood out to MICHELIN Guide inspectors.

Two of the four awards are represented within the Middle East and Africa selection.

The MICHELIN Guide Architecture & Design Award goes to Desert Rock Resort in Umluj, Saudi Arabia, recognised for its striking integration into the landscape of the Hijaz Mountains.

The MICHELIN Guide Local Gateway Award goes to Londolozi Game Reserve in Kruger, South Africa, highlighting a pioneering safari property with a longstanding connection to its landscape and the culture of the region.

The global selection also includes the MICHELIN Guide Wellness Award, presented to Schloss Elmau Luxury Spa Retreat & Cultural Hideaway in Germany, and the MICHELIN Guide Opening of the Year Award, presented to Airelles Palladio Venice in Italy.

Selected Anonymously and Independently by MICHELIN Guide Inspectors

The MICHELIN Key is the hotel distinction awarded by the MICHELIN Guide, equivalent to the MICHELIN Star for restaurants. It highlights the most outstanding hotels within the MICHELIN Guide’s hotel selection.

MICHELIN Guide inspectors visit hotels anonymously and independently, assessing each property against five universal criteria:

  • Excellence in architecture and interior design
  • Quality and consistency of service
  • Overall personality and character
  • Value for the price
  • A significant contribution to the neighbourhood or setting

One MICHELIN Key: A very special stay.

Two MICHELIN Keys: An exceptional stay.

Three MICHELIN Keys: An extraordinary stay.

The full 2026 MICHELIN Key selection is available across the MICHELIN Guide’s digital platforms, where travellers can explore the hotels, discover their MICHELIN Key distinctions and find inspiration for their next stay.

The 2026 MICHELIN Key Selection at a Glance

About the MICHELIN Guide Hotel Selection

The MICHELIN Guide’s hotel selection is based on the work of its inspectors, who travel anonymously and independently to identify hotels offering outstanding experiences. The selection spans a wide range of properties, from historic landmarks and grand hotels to independent boutiques, remote retreats and innovative new openings.

The MICHELIN Key is the hotel distinction awarded by the MICHELIN Guide, equivalent to the MICHELIN Star for restaurants. Introduced in 2024 across 15 destinations in North America, Europe and Asia, the MICHELIN Key has since expanded into a global distinction.

Hotels are awarded One, Two or Three MICHELIN Keys, according to the level of experience they offer:

. One MICHELIN Key: A very special stay.

. Two MICHELIN Keys: An exceptional stay.

. Three MICHELIN Keys: An extraordinary stay.

Tell us a little bit about yourself and your career journey to date.

I’ve always been a busy bee, collecting as many hobbies and random skillsets that could fit into my daily life. If something can fit into my day, I’ll find a way to make it part of my world. As a child, I jumped from sketching to chasing the sun on my bike to reading 750+ page books at record speed. I rarely met a thing I didn’t like—and many of them stuck into my young adulthood. Pushing and pulling me towards various professional pathways along the way. After a brief “gap year” working the front desk at my alma mater, I stumbled into the world of copywriting. The deeper I’ve gone, the more the craft continues to surprise me, and the more my own skills keep evolving right alongside it. At this stage in my career, I don’t feel like just a writer, but someone really leaning into the strategic execution and cultural stickiness of the full vision; a more fragmented experience that allows more of that “collect ‘em all” mentality of my childhood to show up here.

Jalyn in the desert.

Which tools or systems are essential to your day-to-day work?

Before anything else, my favorite tools are my paper planner, notebooks, and pens. I also love a clean word document to help me create anew (even if a doc already exists, sometimes you just got to see a clean page for fresh ideas). As our company evolves, I find myself using our AI tools in creative ways. And sometimes, my AI coworker gets my first pass ideas. The ones that are hilariously bad, but necessary to find the sticky ones. In a remote-first workplace, it’s nice to weed through the junk before finding time with my equally busy human coworkers to further ideate.

Oh, and Slack. I love her dearly.

What’s a recent creative challenge you solved in an unexpected way?

The word “daddy.” It’s right there in our name. And for years, so many talented folks felt like we should lean into it. The question was never if. It was how. So, I wrote daddy-ified scripts that never made it beyond internal reviews. Hinting, winking. Then the window opened. Culture was ready, Walton Goggins was having his moment, and we went for it. The Daddy of Domains script was that moment for me. I wrote the initial draft, then leaned on my creative partner (Shoutout, Yu Chang) and leaders to help evolve it. That was the unexpected part of the solve, really. Not one perfect draft (there’s no such thing!) but doing it as a group and trusting that initial vision to get us there.

Jalyn, her husband and their dog on a pier at the beach.

How do you maintain GoDaddy’s brand voice while still pushing creative boundaries?

In all my past lives, my process is to treat brand voice like a personality, not a script. Once you know who GoDaddy is (confident, in your corner, cautiously audacious), you can seamlessly walk that personality into rooms it’s never been. The boundaries adapt. The voice evolves. But it will always feel right in the end.

How has ERG involvement influenced your time at GoDaddy?

GoDaddy Black in Tech (GDBIT) taught me confidence before a job title could. Through programs like Scholarship Committee and GDBIT Book Club, I found networks with people that I may have never known.

Beyond the power of gathering, helping lead GDBIT has colored in some of those professional skills (leadership, decision-making, empathy in moments of stress) in a more dynamic way.

It’s been an honor to be part of our community of talented, warm-hearted, and powerful GDBIT folks.

What’s your motto or personal mantra?

Time passes anyway. I say it out loud at least twice a day. It simultaneously reminds me to pick up and keep chasing after my goals, or slow down to take in the moment.

Jalyn taking a photo at the seashore.

Corporate Announcement 31/2026 – Dispute with Purchaser of Insurance Portfolio

On 30 April 2025, Ress Life Investments A/S (the “Company”) announced that it had entered into an agreement to sell its life insurance portfolio as per end of 2024 (the “Legacy Portfolio”) to a market counterparty. The transaction is completed in separate quarterly tranches until end Q3 2026.

As of 30 June 2026, the Company held a 25% ownership of the Legacy Portfolio. Furthermore, the Company is entitled to a share of the future payouts of the Legacy Portfolio (earn-out) which is included in the Company’s balance sheet as other receivables. As of 30 June 2026, the earn-out is valued at approx. USD 129 million.

Subsequent to the sale, at the request of the purchaser of the Legacy Portfolio, the Company entered into an amendment agreement allowing the purchaser to transfer the Legacy Portfolio to a newly formed, wholly-owned, banktruptcy remote subsidiary special purpose vehicle (the “SPV”). The obligations of the SPV are guaranteed by the parent company in the SPV’s group.

Subsequently, the Company has become aware of information indicating that the constituent documents of the SPV holding the Legacy Portfolio discussed were not consistent with the purchaser’s representations and that the SPV or its assets may have been pledged to a third party.

As a result, the Company has provided notice of termination of the purchase agreement and has filed complaints in United States courts against the purchaser of the Legacy Portfolio, the SPV, the parent company and other relevant parties alleging e.g. rescission, breach of contract, fraud and equitable relief to prevent asset transfers. The purchaser has also filed a claim against the Company seeking a declaratory judgment that the purchase agreement with the Company remains valid and binding.

Management has assessed the matter to be non-adjusting for the half-year financial statements as information has only arisen subsequent to the balance sheet date, and the Company and its fund manager are monitoring the matter closely as part of their on-going assessment of the recoverability and valuation of financial assets. The legal outcome, timeline for resolution and potential financial consequences of the matter remain uncertain at this stage.

Questions related to this announcement can be made to the company’s AIF-manager, Finserve Nordic AB.
