BOISE, Idaho, July 8, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — In a strategic move that reinforces its dominance in water and environmental law, Parsons Behle & Latimer (Parsons) has welcomed Twin Falls-based attorneys Travis L. Thompson and Abby R. Bitzenburg. Parsons’ new attorneys will continue to practice from their respective Twin Falls locations but will officially become part of Parsons’ Boise bench. Thompson and Bitzenburg’s arrival marks a significant expansion of the firm’s award-winning environmental and natural resources practice—already the most experienced in Idaho and a recognized leader throughout the Intermountain Region. Both attorneys join the firm from Marten Law, bringing with them deep experience involving some of the region’s most complex environmental and water issues.

Thompson brings more than 20 years’ experience to Parsons as a shareholder and key member of the firm’s environmental and natural resources practice. One of Idaho’s leading water lawyers, Thompson represents individual farmers, ranchers, irrigation organizations and municipal providers statewide. Known for his client-first approach, he brings practical insight and steady guidance to resolving complex environmental and natural resource challenges with common sense and integrity. Thompson regularly appears before Idaho’s adjudication courts and the Idaho Department Water Resources and has advised on a variety of real property and water right sales. He has successfully represented local canal companies and irrigation districts before the Idaho Supreme Court, securing important decisions protecting senior water right interests. A lifelong Idaho resident, Thompson is uniquely familiar with water rights and land issues that have touched all parts of the state.

“I am honored to join the Intermountain West’s premiere law firm,” Thompson says. “The Parsons’ water and natural resource practitioners are second to none and understand their clients and locales. The collective energy and experience at this firm will be an asset to our clients and their communities throughout Southern Idaho. It’s a privilege to have this opportunity, one that I will not take for granted.”

“Travis brings with him not only a strong command of water law but a client-focused approach that fits perfectly with Parsons’ values and our culture of service,” said Norman M. Semanko, office managing shareholder of Parsons’ Boise office. “His addition reinforces our ongoing commitment to delivering top-tier counsel in one of Idaho’s most critical legal sectors.”

Bitzenburg also brings her specialized legal experience to Parsons’ environmental and natural resources practice with a focus on water rights permitting adjudication and administration issues, practiced throughout the state of Idaho. Bitzenburg represents individual water users, canal companies, municipal providers and irrigation districts in a wide variety of matters. She says, “Joining Parsons offers an excellent environment with a support system that will enable me to better serve my clients while continuing to expand my knowledge in the water and natural resource practice areas.”

“Abby’s thoughtful and strategic approach to environmental challenges makes her an incredible asset to our team and our clients,” added Semanko. “With both Abby and Travis on board, Parsons continues to lead in providing expert legal guidance on water and environmental matters across Idaho and the broader region.”

With Thompson and Bitzenburg as part of its water and environmental practice, Parsons strengthens its position as not only the go-to law firm for water and natural resources law in Idaho, but also in the Intermountain Region. The firm proudly represents all seven of Idaho’s irrigation districts and canal companies that make up the Surface Water Coalition in the Magic Valley (South Central Idaho) and has an unparalleled track record of success in water rights adjudication, permitting and regulatory matters. Parsons’ deep experience in environmental law dates to the firm’s founding in 1882, anchoring its longstanding reputation as a leader in environmental and natural resources law.

Parsons’ CEO and Chairperson Shawn C. Ferrin says, “Travis and Abby’s addition represents Parsons’ continued investment in delivering best-in-class service across the Intermountain Region, bolstering its ability to support clients facing increasingly complex environmental and water-related challenges. We are extremely pleased that these leading attorneys have chosen to become part of Parsons Behle & Latimer.”

MEXICO, Mo., July 8, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — On Friday, July 5, community members, local leaders, and former students gathered for a building dedication ceremony at the former Garfield School site. The event marked the official renaming and transition of the facility into the headquarters for Tyronn Lue’s Commitment to Community (C2C), a ten million dollar community initiative founded by Tyronn Lue.

Originally established to educate Black students during the era of segregation, Garfield School was shuttered and turned into a Credit Union and now returns to its roots as a community-focused center. With its new purpose, the building will continue to serve young people in the Mexico area through educational programming and partnerships that promote opportunity and growth.

Coach Lue announced the new name of the building, now known as the Kim and Olivia Lue Garfield Legacy Center, a tribute to the legacy and spirit of his mother, grandmother, and their alma mater, the Garfield School.

Mexico, Missouri, is the type of place where you’re raised by the entire community, not just your family. The Garfield School was so important to so many people, and its closure devastated the community. It is an incredible honor that we were able to buy this and transform it back into a community hub where people can connect, learn and find resources and opportunities,” said Coach Lue, smiling with pride.

The dedication marks an early milestone in a larger effort to invest in the Mexico, Missouri community. The work is in partnership with the Tyronn Lue Fund and Partners for Rural Impact (PRI), a national nonprofit focused on expanding educational opportunity in rural areas.

Guests took part in a ribbon cutting, a community legacy walk, and tours of newly acquired buildings next to the school. These adjacent buildings, previously owned by a local credit union, will be converted into spaces for youth programs, resource centers, and community-based services.

Coach Lue also looks forward to sharing this work with his Los Angeles community at the second annual fundraising event for C2C, which will take place at the Intuit Dome on October 19th.

About C2C

In July 2023, three-time NBA Champion Tyronn Lue announced an initial five-year commitment to bring a multi-million-dollar investment to his hometown of Mexico, Missouri.

Called “C2C”, representing Lue’s “Commitment to Community,” this initiative is a partnership between the Tyronn Lue Fund and Partners for Rural Impact that aims to ensure all residents of Mexico, MO have access to the opportunities and resources they need to thrive and succeed.

  • Campaign highlights versatility and capability of Kia’s longest-running nameplate
  • Episodic broadcast effort features the new 2026 Sportage X-Pro and Sportage Hybrid models

IRVINE, Calif., July 8, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Kia America is reveling in the joy, adventure and excitement of the classic American road-trip in a new two-part creative campaign for the 2026 Sportage SUV. As the fast-growing brand’s longest-running nameplate, the popular Kia Sportage was recently updated to include a dynamic exterior design featuring a broad, upright grille and a tech-forward cabin with advanced wireless connectivity.

The episodic campaign features two 30-second spots that take viewers along for the journey of a lifetime. Entitled “Keep the Adventure Going” and set to “Rock’n Me” by the Steve Miller Band, the first episode follows a young man in a Sportage X-Pro as he drives through various weather conditions and over multiple terrains, with the progress of his cross-country road trip charted by the location on his ever-changing t-shirt. Making a stop in Texas, the driver meets his match – literally – when he spots a young lady wearing the same t-shirt. Hinting of things to come, the tagline “Keep the Adventure Going” appears before the spot cuts to the happy couple, now seated side by side in the Sportage, wearing his-and-hers “Virginia is for Lovers” t-shirts.

Picking up where the first let off, we next see the couple – now driving a Sportage HEV with a turbo hybrid powertrain – continuing their adventure and celebrating life’s milestones along the way.

“Sportage is Kia’s longest-running nameplate for a reason, because it is the perfect SUV for every driver regardless of life stage,” said Russell Wager, vice president, marketing, Kia America. “With its class-leading interior space, advanced driver assistance features, a tech-forward cabin and available electrified powertrains, Sportage is built for anything people might encounter on the road of life.”

Program seeks to expand affordable access to e-bikes to support fun, sustainable trips

OAKLAND, Calif., July 8, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Ava Community Energy (Ava) today announced the launch of its Ava Bike Electric instant rebate program, which aims to increase equitable e-bike adoption, reduce transportation-related carbon emissions, and support local businesses. Ava is the not-for-profit public electricity supplier to Alameda County and the cities of Stockton, Lathrop, and Tracy.

Customers of Ava Community Energy, as well as residents of Alameda County who are 18 years or older, are eligible to participate in the program. Funding partner Alameda County Transportation Commission (Alameda CTC) provided $4 million of the $10 million program budget.

“Ava is dedicated to increasing access to cleaner energy and enabling the adoption of products that take advantage of it. Consumers are discovering that the electric option – be that a car, an induction cooktop, a heat pump, or a bike – is not only greener, it’s just a better experience,” said Howard Chang, CEO of Ava Community Energy. “What’s more, research shows that over half the daily trips taken in the US are under three miles. Shifting even a portion of those trips from a gas-powered car to an e-bike would have an outsized impact on our residents’ health, the economy, and air quality. We are proud to do our part to further e-bike adoption with the Ava Bike Electric program.”

The program aims to distribute between 8,200 and 9,200 instant rebates between now and September 2026. Approximately 600 rebates, worth $400 to $1,500 each, will be awarded every month through a random selection drawing. Over 40% of the program funds are reserved for eligible income-qualified applicants who are enrolled in California Alternate Rates for Energy (CARE), Family Electric Rate Assistance (FERA), or Energy Assistance Program (EAP).

“Expanding affordable access to e-bikes directly advances the Commission’s goals to support a transportation system that is both sustainable and equitable and advances innovation,” said Tony Tavares, Executive Director of Alameda CTC. “Alameda CTC is proud to deliver on Measure BB’s promise to invest in active transportation and improve quality of life in Alameda County.”

E-bikes are a fun and convenient carbon-free option for commutes, errands, outings, and recreation. The Ava Bike Electric program helps eligible participants get the right type of e-bike for their needs:

Community members, customers, and supplier partners are encouraged to join in-store fundraising efforts through July 31

FORT WORTH, Texas, July 8, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — In the wake of the heartbreaking flooding that struck Kerr County and surrounding areas over the July 4th weekend, Yesway is joining the effort to provide comfort, support, and relief to those who need it most. As a company deeply rooted in Texas, we are humbled to stand alongside the people of the Hill Country during this incredibly difficult time.

To aid immediate recovery and long-term rebuilding, Yesway is pledging a $100,000 donation to the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country’s Kerr County Flood Relief Fund. In the spirit of compassion and collective strength, we are also inviting our Yesway and Allsup’s customers, employees, and supplier partners to contribute through donations made at the checkout, so that together, we can raise as much money as possible for the affected communities.

Now through July 31, 2025, donations of $1, $5, $10, or more can be made at the register in any Yesway or Allsup’s store. Every dollar raised will be directed to the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country’s relief efforts to help families and first responders recover and rebuild.

As reported by the Hilltown Community Journal, the floods came swiftly and without warning in the early hours of July 4th: “The flooding struck with deadly speed along the Guadalupe River, catching many off guard… Kerrville City Manager Dalton Rice said the Guadalupe River rose approximately 26 feet in just 45 minutes…” The damage has been extensive, with disaster declarations issued for 14 Texas counties, including Kerr, Gillespie, Comal, and Kimble, among others. Campsites, homes, and riverside communities have been destroyed. Lives have been lost, and search and rescue efforts continue even now. The road to recovery will be a long one.

“Our hearts are with the families, first responders, and entire communities whose lives were forever changed by these floods,” said Tom Trkla, Yesway’s Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer. “We are not first responders, but as neighbors and fellow Texans, all of our over 3,100 employees in the state feel a deep responsibility to help however we can. It is with gratitude and humility that we offer our support and ask others to join us. Even a small donation can be a lifeline for someone in need. Yesway has always believed in the power of community. While no single act can undo the devastation, we hope that, together, we can provide relief, restore hope, and remind those suffering that they are not alone.”

Their efforts resulted in a significant increase in total volunteer hours and bags of trash collected, truly setting a new benchmark for impact within the communities DF serves.

For 2025, DF amplified its commitment to community stewardship by organizing even more clean-up events than previous year, in which DF team members could utilize their annual paid ‘Day of Giving’ benefit to participate. Within just two months, nearly 300 team members dedicated 1,111 collective volunteer hours to beautify local areas. These company-led initiatives spanned seven states—Florida, Louisiana, Maryland, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, and Virginia—resulting in the collection of over 325 bags and buckets of trash from parks, downtown areas, nature trails, beaches, and more. This impactful effort not only enhanced the appearance of these communities but also created a shared pride and environmental responsibility among our teams.

“Our annual clean-up initiative holds a special place for us at Drucker + Falk,” shared Tarra Secrest, Director of Marketing. “It’s truly inspiring to see the employee interest and participation grow year after year. This type of volunteerism is incredibly inclusive, allows our teams to work together towards an immediate, tangible impact, and people genuinely love the opportunity to make a visible difference in their local communities. It’s a prime example of how powerful and engaging giving back can be.”

Wendy Drucker, Managing Director for Drucker + Falk, emphasized the importance of the initiative, stating, “I’ve always believed in the power of giving back and the profound difference it makes in our local communities. This is a huge priority for us at DF and is part of why we created our ‘Day of Giving’ program to begin with. Beyond the immense impact we make externally, these events offer an incredible experience for our team members – fostering camaraderie and a shared sense of accomplishment. I genuinely love participating alongside our teams, and it brings me so much joy to hear the incredibly positive feedback from everyone about this particular initiative each year. Seeing so many team members come together, contributing their time and energy, speaks volumes about our culture and collective commitment.”

These recent clean-up events perfectly demonstrate DF’s enduring commitment to volunteering in local communities. From donation drives and financial support to planting gardens and providing meals, the company actively promotes a culture of giving back and remains dedicated to these vital initiatives that keep its communities thriving and beautiful.
