LOS ANGELES, Sept. 30, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Students in Southern California have been back at school for nearly two months, and BD&J has been hard at work ensuring students and teachers start the school year strong. The personal injury law firm has proudly partnered with Visalia Unified School District, Homeboy Industries, and the Stoner Park Recreation Center Youth Sports Program serving Los Angeles Unified School District students to prepare 432 children for the school year by providing backpacks filled with new school supplies. The firm also hosted a giveaway to teachers throughout California, offering to clear the classroom wishlists for ten hardworking teachers. In total, the firm has provided nearly $10,000 of supplies this back-to-school season.

Due to recent budget cuts sweeping the country’s school districts, many teachers and schools are left without necessary classroom supplies. This places even more of the burden of stocking schools on parents and teachers, which disproportionately negatively impacts students in lower income areas. Combined with increased prices due to tariffs and supply chain issues, parents and teachers who are already stretched thin must find a way to make ends meet. BD&J took this major problem to heart and dedicated itself to assisting students, parents, and teachers in VUSD, LAUSD, and across California with gaining the tools necessary to succeed this school year. “Our firm is committed to fulfilling the needs of our community,” remarked BD&J Co-founder Kevin Danesh. “Students and teachers shouldn’t be punished for the political climate. Doing this was a no-brainer for us.” This is not the first time BD&J has partnered with school districts to provide for students. In 2024, the firm also held a holiday gift donation drive for LAUSD students facing homelessness.

About BD&J, PC: BD&J, PC, has served all Californians for over 20 years in many areas of personal injury law, including auto or truck accidents, motorcycle and pedestrian collisions, premises liability, commercial injury, dog bites, and more. Having represented tens of thousands of clients from all walks of life, the attorneys at BD&J are proud to protect the rights of individuals from anywhere in California at any time. Study Results Underscore the Urgent Need for Greater Investment in the Older Americans Act Nutrition Program

ARLINGTON, Va., Sept. 30, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Meals on Wheels America, in partnership with Brown University School of Public Health and Johns Hopkins School of Nursing, today announced findings from a new study published in JAMA Network Open and funded by the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI). The study shows that home-delivered meals funded through the Older Americans Act (OAA) Nutrition Program not only reduce hunger and malnutrition among older adults, but also provide significant health, social and financial benefits to both recipients and their caregivers.

Researchers from Brown University and Johns Hopkins School of Nursing conducted in-depth interviews with 54 older adults across five states as part of the Deliver-EE national clinical trial. Participants reported that home-delivered meals:

  • Reduced hunger and food insecurity by providing consistent access to nutritious meals
  • Fostered meaningful social connections with delivery persons, helping to combat loneliness
  • Improved physical and emotional well-being, supported independence and helped older adults remain in their homes
  • Relieved stress and financial strain on family caregivers, giving them more time for their own health and well-being

“The findings from the ‘Home-Delivered Nutrition Services for Older Adults Under the Older Americans Act’ (OAA) study reinforce what Meals on Wheels providers have known for decades: the meal itself opens the door to much more; a service that includes a friendly visit, a health and safety check, and social connection. Home-delivered meals are far more than just a meal – they are a lifeline,” said Ellie Hollander, president and CEO of Meals on Wheels America. “At a time when loneliness is recognized as an epidemic, demand for services is rising and funding is falling short, we cannot afford to overlook our nation’s most vulnerable seniors. Congress must ensure the OAA has the resources needed to properly support Older Americans in need so they’re not left behind, hungry and alone.”

Despite serving over 2 million older adults annually, 1 in 3 local Meals on Wheels providers has a waitlist with seniors waiting on average four months for vital meals and connection. According to the U.S. Government Accountability Office, 86% of low-income, food-insecure older adults do not receive home-delivered meals. Without additional investment, unmet needs will continue to grow as the aging population increases.

Kali Thomas, study lead and professor in the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing added: “Our analysis of interviews with meal recipients show that home-delivered meals generate health, social, and economic benefits. These findings highlight that investing in home-delivered meal programs provides meaningful returns for both older adults and their caregivers.”

A one-of-a-kind golf experience designed by Brian Curley to deliver a unique fusion of sustainable play and exclusive coastal luxury

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia, Sept. 30, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Red Sea Global (RSG), the developer behind regenerative tourism destinations The Red Sea and AMAALA, has officially opened Shura Links, Saudi Arabia’s first island golf course, on Shura Island at The Red Sea.

Designed by renowned golf course architect Brian Curley and managed by Golf Saudi, the par-72, 7,400-yard course offers a distinct coastal links experience that celebrates the island’s natural topography. Eighteen holes wind through native mangroves and sweeping dunes before drifting along the Red Sea shoreline in typical links fashion. The course was designed for minimal environmental interference, reflecting RSG’s regenerative tourism values.

“The opening of Shura Links is a landmark achievement in the Kingdom’s pursuit of global leadership in sports and tourism. It reflects the ambitions of Saudi Vision 2030 and underscores PIF’s commitment to unlocking new sectors that diversify our economy and elevate quality of life. Situated at the heart of The Red Sea, Shura Links is more than a world-class golf course — it is a powerful realization of how this unique destination can be transformed into an engine for investment, luxury tourism, and sustainable opportunities for future generations,” said H.E. Yasir Al-Rumayyan, Chairman of Golf Saudi.

A Social Hub Anchored by a Beachfront Clubhouse

A vibrant focal point for golfers and visitors alike, the beachfront clubhouse serves as the heart of social life at Shura Links. Inspired by native flora and fauna, the clubhouse offers panoramic views across the eighteenth green and features elevated dining, retail, and relaxation areas designed to enhance the visitor experience.

“Shura Links sets a new benchmark for the game of golf in the region. It’s more than just a course – it’s a place to connect, challenge yourself, and experience the full beauty of The Red Sea. This is another proud milestone in our mission to reshape global tourism through sustainability and design, and a significant step in building Red Sea Global’s diverse sports portfolio, aligning perfectly with Vision 2030’s goal of establishing Saudi Arabia as a premier global sporting destination,” said John Pagano, Group CEO of Red Sea Global.

A Premium Golfing Experience

Highlights include:

  • Family-friendly adventure putting course, adjacent to the clubhouse and perfect for all ages and skill levels
  • Premium Callaway practice balls, used on professional tours
  • Curated golf retail boutique, offering leading brands, accessories and Shura Links merchandise
  • Elevated clubhouse experience, with exceptional dining indoors on the terrace, or by the pool
  • Expansive grass practice range and putting green, plus a fully grassed short game area
  • Tailored green fee options for 9 and 18-hole play
  • Professional golf coaching, including lessons for individuals, families, and groups, led by an on-site PGA-qualified professional

Brian Curley, Principal of Curley-Wagner Golf Design, said: “From the onset, Shura Links was designed to blend seamlessly with its natural, brilliant white, sand dunes surroundings, while delivering a one-of-a-kind golf experience. It’s a course built to challenge seasoned pros from the tournament tees, yet the ‘find your ball’ theme is also inviting for those trying golf for the first time. With Shura Links opening its doors, golfers from around the world can experience its unique character and world-class design.”

A Landmark Destination at The Red Sea

Shura Links is located on Shura Island, the heart of The Red Sea, which will begin to open to guests in the coming weeks. Phase one of the launch includes the debut of SLS, EDITION, and InterContinental hotels. It will eventually be home to 11 world-class resorts, all of which will open across the next few months. This includes: Faena; Fairmont; Four Seasons; Grand Hyatt; Jumeirah; Miraval; Raffles; and Rosewood.

As well as resorts, Shura Island is the setting for a collection of exclusive homes. The first properties available to buy on the island were announced earlier this year and will be ready for handover at the end of 2025. Residents will have access to all of the island’s entertainments, as well as its pristine beaches and azure waters, while also offering seamless access to the wider destination and iconic resorts.

Red Sea International Airport (RSI), which is situated within three hours’ flying time of 250 million people and eight hours’ flying time for 85% of the world’s population, is the gateway to The Red Sea destination. It is already welcoming a regular schedule of domestic and international flights. Most recently it was announced that Qatar Airways will operate direct flights to RSI three times a week from next month, with further air lift expected to be announced soon.

When fully complete, the island will offer guests unparalleled access to pristine natural landscapes, luxurious amenities, high-end food and beverage and retail, signature experiences and cultural programming, making it the beating heart of this world-leading tourism destination.

Noah Alireza, Chief Executive Officer of Golf Saud, said: “Through our close partnership with Red Sea Global, we reaffirm our commitment to building an integrated investment environment that positions Saudi Arabia as a premier destination where natural beauty, innovation, and sustainability converge. Shura Links is not only a showcase of this vision, but also a foundational touchpoint in creating the Kingdom’s golf tourism trail — an entryway for international visitors to experience Saudi Arabia’s growing stature as a world-class tourism hub. It stands as an inspiration to golf enthusiasts, investors, and decision-makers around the globe.”

Made possible by a seven-year, multi-million-dollar commitment from the Chubb Charitable Foundation — representing the largest single grant in the Society’s 137-year history — the groundbreaking global initiative aims to preserve Earth’s vital ecosystems at the intersection of land and water

PRESS KIT

WASHINGTON, Sept. 30, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — The National Geographic Society and the Chubb Charitable Foundation announced today the launch of Blue Boundaries, a landmark partnership aimed at driving transformational change through science, exploration, conservation and protection of Earth’s ecosystems at the convergence of land and water. This partnership is made possible by a seven-year, multi-million-dollar grant from the Chubb Charitable Foundation that will focus on safeguarding three of Earth’s most vital ecosystems — freshwater wetlands, coastal systems and reefs — through on-the-ground and on-the-water research, compelling storytelling and experiential education. This significant investment by Chubb, the premiere provider of risk protection and risk mitigation solutions, represents the largest single grant in the Society’s 137-year history.

Many of the world’s most biodiverse and productive ecosystems thrive in the dynamic interface where land meets water. These “Blue Boundary” environments — freshwater wetlands, coastal systems and reefs — form a web of deeply connected ecosystems that balance, depend on and sustain one another, creating stability and resilience. They provide vital habitat for nearly half of all species on Earth, including iconic wildlife like jaguars, sea otters, beavers, grizzly bears, sharks and penguins. These ecosystems support fisheries, clean water, and shoreline integrity that nourish and protect billions of people, while also playing a critical role in absorbing and storing carbon to regulate the climate.

Together, these boundary areas are foundational to the health of the planet on local, regional and global scales, providing essential services that support both people and nature.

“Protecting nature requires on-the-ground science elevated through powerful storytelling on a scale that matches the magnitude of this global moment — and Blue Boundaries is our next bold step to meet it,” said Jill Tiefenthaler, CEO of the National Geographic Society. “Our partnership with Chubb funds scientific research and conservation to deepen our understanding of these life-sustaining ecosystems and drive impact around the globe.”

“This deeply inspiring collaboration has the potential to leave a lasting legacy — positively impacting millions of people and species who depend on these ecosystems for survival and prosperity,” said Evan G. Greenberg, Chairman and CEO of Chubb Limited and Chair, Chubb Charitable Foundation. “Blue Boundaries will be a catalyst for groundbreaking research and exploration of vital ecosystems, helping us do what we do best at Chubb: protecting what matters most.”

Led by a cohort of National Geographic Explorers, the Blue Boundaries program will encompass scientific research, conservation work, education initiatives and impact storytelling to address the planet’s most pressing challenges. Working in partnership with local communities, these Explorers will help co-create innovative and scalable solutions that are informed by science and grounded in local knowledge.

Blue Boundaries will be implemented in a phased approach, with strategic overlap throughout the partnership, starting with freshwater wetlands and then moving to coastal systems, culminating in reef environments. Through this approach, the program will mirror the downstream flow of water that connects life and ecological processes, underscoring the interdependence of these environments. All three phases will be guided by core scientific principles, which focus on: understanding and supporting a rich variety of life, creating a healthy carbon balance, strengthening nature’s ability to bounce back from disruption, and ensuring people and nature can thrive together.

Through Blue Boundaries, the National Geographic Society and Chubb will illuminate and elevate the instrumental role these ecosystems play for people and the environment, shift public perception towards a deeper appreciation of nature’s intrinsic value and advance strategies essential for habitat restoration and global resilience.

RED BANK, N.J., Sept. 30, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — When disaster strikes, REVA PROJECTS LLC offers more than just shelter; it offers dignity, safety, and hope. Inspired by personal challenges, founder Mariya Reva-Tamburrino turned crisis into purpose, designing innovative, rapidly deployable shelters that prioritize people’s needs – and their humanity.

REVA PROJECTS LLC provides temporary shelters for humanitarian assistance and disaster relief. Reva shelters are designed to address homelessness, refugee crises, extreme weather occurrences, and other emergency situations.

“The concept was born in 2012 after Superstorm Sandy when my parents were stuck in an apartment building in Brooklyn, New York for a week,” said Reva-Tamburrino. “They had no heat, no power, and were sharing food with their neighbors. They could not evacuate because they had pets, and other neighbors had medical conditions that would have made it impossible to live in a group housing setting. That’s when the idea clicked of building shelters that ensure privacy and personal needs are met in times of emergency.”

The REVA PROJECTS team designed modules that can be installed as individual lodgings or combined into multiple-unit dwellings. Each structure was carefully planned to allow assembly by two people in under three hours. The Reva Cold Shelter, designed by Max Borshchevskiy for REVA PROJECTS, is the company’s inaugural product.

“The modules can be assembled with gloves on in arctic settings,” Borshchevskiy said. “The applied aluminum grade ensures the frame remains durable yet lightweight. The material is recyclable, temperature- and corrosion-resistant, radiation-protected, and easy to clean. The front door of the structure can even be used as an emergency floatation device in case of a flood. We’re proud to say all materials used are sustainably sourced from NATO countries.”

The structure can endure temperatures as low as -22 degrees F/-30 degrees C. The sloped roof is aerodynamically shaped to withstand winds up to 180 mph/290 kph and to shed heavy snow loads. This design maximizes headroom inside the shelter, allowing for bunk beds to be placed along the south wall, where maximum natural light and heat are expected.

The top of the Reva Cold Shelter is shielded by marine-grade PVC vinyl. The soft cover also features waterproof zippers.

In extreme cold and high-altitude climates, the structure must be elevated and secured against winds. There are four footing options: rock, sand, mud/clay, and ice. Reva shelters can be deployed using any international power grid or generator and are capable of off-grid use. The Reva Cold Shelter supports add-on heating and air conditioning units and is operated by a power load center of 35 amps or more. Solar panels and battery systems are also available for sustainable off-grid power. Shelters feature interior LED lighting, which illuminates interior areas, while the reflective exterior offers visibility from evacuation vehicles.

The standard three-module configuration fits six people, has a 165-square-foot/15.329-square-meter interior, and weighs 1,940lb/880kg. REVA PROJECTS LLC developed a system that enables the frame to be flat-packed to fit within common shipping container sizes.

REVA PROJECTS LLC is a woman-owned international design studio and manufacturer of transitional architecture structures and emergency shelters, including the revolutionary Reva Cold Shelter, a customizable housing unit that adapts to the diverse requirements of those who need it most. Traditional disaster relief and temporary shelters often overlook the unique challenges of individuals in crisis. Many require space for pets, medical care, or mental health support – needs that demand privacy and adaptability. REVA PROJECTS LLC addresses these needs with a sustainable, environmentally conscious approach. The Reva Cold Shelter is built on cutting-edge design principles for enhanced thermal efficiency and structural integrity in arctic conditions. To learn more, visit RevaProjectsLLC.com.

ZAPORIZHZHIA, Ukraine, Sept. 30, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — In a remarkable case that underscores both clinical ingenuity and the global urgency of maternal health, Ukrainian physicians turned to a battlefield bleeding control intervention in a last-ditch effort to save a young mother experiencing severe postpartum hemorrhage (PPH). The case marks the first documented use of the Abdominal Aortic and Junctional Tourniquet – Stabilized (AAJT-S) to manage uncontrolled bleeding after childbirth — with life-saving results.

Olya, a mother of five, had just completed what appeared to be a fast, routine labor when she suddenly began to bleed uncontrollably. Standard interventions, including uterotonics such as Pitocin, failed to stop the hemorrhage. Facing a rapidly deteriorating situation, Dr. Yevheniia Poliakova made the decision to use the AAJT-S.

Dr. Yevheniia Poliakova, the attending physician, had previously studied advanced hemorrhage control tools used in military medicine, including the Abdominal Aortic and Junctional Tourniquet – Stabilized (AAJT-S) — an FDA-cleared device indicated to control difficult-to-manage bleeding in the abdomen, pelvis, inguinal region, and axilla.

“She was one of four patients in our feasibility study using the AAJT to treat postpartum hemorrhage, and her bleeding completely stopped following the application of the device,” said Dr. Yevheniia Poliakova. “It gave us the time we needed to stabilize her and begin surgical intervention. We have since gone on to use the AAJT in four additional patients, bringing our total to eight — with 100% success and no complications.”

Olya remembers only fragments of the day — but enough to understand just how close she came to losing her life.

“This was my fifth delivery. I have five wonderful children, all delivered by Dr. Yevheniia,” Olya said. “Everything went very well, but very quickly — just around two hours. When the baby was already in my arms, I felt okay. But then, something started to feel wrong. Doctors kept checking on me. Then I started to feel… not very good. They gave me medicine and said, ‘Don’t worry, you will sleep now. Everything will be fine.”

The next thing I remember, I woke up in the hospital. I was alive. My baby was there. I don’t know how the device works. But I believe, thanks to it — and thanks to my doctor — I’m here. I’m alive for my children.”

A Global First in Postpartum Hemorrhage Care

The initiative was led by Dr. Viktor Oshovskyy, whose foresight enabled exploration of trauma technology in obstetric emergencies. To date, eight patients with severe postpartum hemorrhage have been treated using the AAJT-S at the facility — with 100% survival and no complications reported.

This case marks the first documented use of the AAJT-S in a postpartum hemorrhage setting — and adds to the more than 70 peer-reviewed studies and growing clinical evidence supporting its use in managing life-threatening hemorrhage.

Originally developed for battlefield trauma, the AAJT-S is the only device FDA-cleared to occlude blood flow in the abdominal aorta — enabling rapid hemorrhage control when standard interventions fail. While not yet indicated for obstetric use, this case study offers a compelling look at how trauma-informed technologies may help address one of the leading causes of maternal death worldwide.

“Dr. Poliakova acted with courage and clarity in an environment where maternal hemorrhage claims lives far too often,” said Scott Dodson, CEO of Compression Works. “What she did — and what her patient survived — matters deeply in this moment of global maternal health crisis.”

A Call for Global Attention

Globally, postpartum hemorrhage affects more than 14 million women each year and is responsible for approximately 70,000 maternal deaths — accounting for over 20% of all maternal mortality worldwide. Maternal mortality from hemorrhage remains a devastating challenge — particularly in resource-limited settings across Eastern Europe, Sub-Saharan Africa and Southeast Asia. From Ukraine to Uganda, emergency obstetric care teams continue to seek better tools, faster responses, and more adaptable treatment options.

This case study points to the urgent need for adaptive technologies that can be deployed rapidly in both hospital and prehospital environments.

About the AAJT-S

The Abdominal Aortic and Junctional Tourniquet – Stabilized (AAJT-S) is an FDA-cleared and CE-marked hemorrhage control device designed to occlude blood flow in the abdomen, pelvis, inguinal region, and axilla. It is the only device of its kind capable of achieving aortic occlusion outside the operating room. The AAJT-S is currently used across military, prehospital, and hospital settings around the world.
