Foster Clean Power project, owned by Radial Power, powers 3,000+ homes under PPA with Redwood Coast Energy Authority

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Oct. 28, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Renewable America held a ribbon-cutting with its partners on Oct. 6 to celebrate the Foster Clean Power portfolio installation, a pair of projects totaling 9.4 MWdc of solar capacity and 2.5 MW / 10 MWh of battery storage. Powering 3,000+ homes and creating 50 jobs during construction, Foster Clean Power is Humboldt County’s first new-build large-scale solar + storage project under a power purchase agreement with Redwood Coast Energy Authority (RCEA).

Owned by Radial Power, the portfolio includes Foster Clean Power A (4.457 MWdc) and Foster Clean Power B (4.951 MWdc). Both sites provide a pollinator-friendly habitat for native wildlife.

Early in development, the projects faced significant challenges, including outdated public records that showed incorrect water and utility easements encroaching on the planned site and access road. Renewable America addressed them by mobilizing survey teams and partnering with Humboldt Water to remap boundaries, adjusting the project layout and road design accordingly.

Through these efforts, Renewable America reduced access road construction costs by 75% (over $180,000) and accelerated the production timeline by six weeks while maintaining compliance, performance, and energy yield.

“This project is an example of how careful planning and collaboration can overcome unexpected hurdles without compromising cost or schedule,” said Ardi Arian, President and CEO of Renewable America. “We’re proud to deliver a solar and storage portfolio that strengthens local energy reliability while supporting California’s clean energy goals.”

About Renewable America

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Oct. 28, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Honeywell (NASDAQ: HON) today introduced a breakthrough technology that converts agricultural and forestry waste into ready-to-use renewable fuels for hard-to-abate sectors, such as the maritime industry. The technology produces lower-carbon marine fuel, gasoline and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) from inexpensive and abundant biomass sources like wood chips and crop residues.

For ship operators, these ready-to-use or “drop-in” fuels provide a cost-effective and lower-carbon alternative to traditional heavy fuel oil. With higher energy density than many current biofuel alternatives, this renewable marine fuel can extend a vessel’s range without requiring costly engine upgrades.

“Honeywell continues to drive innovation in the areas that our customers need most,” said Ken West, president of Honeywell Energy and Sustainability Solutions. “The maritime industry has a real need for renewable fuels that are immediately available and cost effective. Our Biocrude Upgrading processing technology can be delivered in modular form, offering savings from the point of installation through to refining and use.”

Plant and agricultural waste can be converted into lower carbon biocrude at the feedstock collection sites, which keeps transport costs low. Honeywell’s new process technology enables biocrude to then be refined at major facilities to produce marine fuel, gasoline or SAF. This helps solve long-standing challenges with converting biocrudes into fuels with performance comparable to conventional fuel.

Biocrude Upgrading process technology can be delivered in the form of a prefabricated modular plant. As a result, Honeywell can help customers reduce risk and accelerate project timelines by simplifying site construction activity.

The introduction of Honeywell’s Biocrude Upgrading process technology comes as shipping companies seek to reduce their carbon footprints due to customer demands and regulatory drivers. Since the 1960s, heavy fuel oil—residual products from the refining of gasoline, diesel, and kerosene—has been the principal energy source for the maritime sector and a main source of its roughly 3% contribution of global greenhouse gas emissions1.

For more than a decade, Honeywell has provided process technologies for renewable and alternative fuels using various feedstocks. The new Biocrude Upgrading technology is complementary to its renewable fuels portfolio, which includes EcofiningTM, Ethanol to Jet technology, Fischer-Tropsch (FT) Unicracking™ technology and UOP eFining™, a process that converts green hydrogen and carbon dioxide into e-fuels. Third cohort of cross-organizational, high-level mentorship program to commence in November 2025

Continued support from the Lundbeck Foundation and
the Novo Nordisk Foundation

WiLD celebrates its third anniversary with 250+ members in Denmark

COPENHAGEN, Denmark, Oct. 28, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Women in Life Science Denmark (WiLD) today announces that it is launching the third cohort of its successful Female Leadership Mentoring Program (Mentoring Program), to achieve a more equitable future for women in life sciences and accelerate the advancement of women in biotech, pharma, and academia. This initiative will commence in November 2025, offering a tailored, high-level mentorship spanning 12 months.

The Lundbeck Foundation has committed an additional 470,000 DKK of funding, to be received over two years, to support the development of WiLD’s mentorship program. In February 2025, the Novo Nordisk Foundation also announced additional support, enabling the expansion of the program to include twenty pairs of mentors and mentees.

“The Lundbeck Foundation believes that diversity strengthens innovation and quality in life sciences, but it requires a targeted effort to create real change. WiLD makes an important difference by providing women in life sciences with tools and networks to take the next step toward leadership,” said Mette Eistrøm Krüger, SVP – People & Corporate Affairs, Lundbeck Foundation.

Celebrating its third anniversary in Denmark in September 2025 with 250+ members, WiLD is expanding collaboration across the Nordics through partnerships with organizations in Sweden (VILDA) and Norway (WiLD Norway).

Karin Madsen, Head of WiLD’s Mentoring Program, said: “Together with our partner, Kirsten Poulsen, Founder of KMP+ House of Mentoring, WiLD is committed to building a strong foundation for women in life sciences, addressing systemic barriers and supporting pivotal career transitions through our Mentoring Program. As the only cross-organizational initiative centered on female advancement in life sciences in Denmark, WiLD is championing a unique program with an opportunity for both mentors and mentees to benefit from a mutual learning experience. Our Mentoring Program has proven to drive career advancement, and we are proud to establish a framework for women in life sciences. As our network and membership continue to grow, we look forward to welcoming the next cohort and encourage WiLD’s mentors and mentees to be bold, curious, and courageous.”

Within the life sciences industry, there continues to be a gender equality paradox with biases in promotion, limited access to senior networks and a lack of structured support for women’s advancement, leading to the underrepresentation of women in senior roles. WiLD aims to empower women in the Danish life science sector to pursue leadership roles through professional knowledge sharing and networking via its Mentoring Program.

Trine Ahlgreen, Mentee in the Mentoring Program & CEO of MC2 Therapeutics, commented: “I am incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity to be part of WiLD’s Mentoring Program. Through this program, I’ve gained invaluable connections that have opened doors not only to incredible collaborators and new friendships but, in my case, to the next pivotal step in my career. The mentorship I’ve received provided guidance, encouragement, and a platform to grow, both professionally and personally. It’s a reminder of how powerful networks can be in shaping one’s journey.”

Diana Arsovic, Mentor in the Mentoring Program & CEO of Danish Life Science Cluster, added: “The most powerful takeaway from WiLD’s Mentoring Program, where I had the privilege of mentoring the talented Laura Klitten, is that ‘working with your personal values during times of complexity is the best investment you can make in yourself.’ Mentoring goes beyond sharing experience: it’s about mutual reflection, growth, and elevating leadership through dialogue. That kind of reciprocal mirroring is rare and deeply needed in today’s fast paced world.

According to a recent analysis by Denominator, published in Børsen on 12 October 2025, women remain significantly underrepresented in senior leadership across Danish businesses. Of Denmark’s 1,000 largest companies, only 90 have female CEOs—a stark contrast to decades of dialogue on gender equality and robust evidence demonstrating that diverse leadership drives both innovation and financial performance.

Further information about the Mentoring Program can be found here. The deadline for mentor and mentee applications is 1 November 2025.

HANGZHOU, China, Oct. 28, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — On October 22, Hikvision celebrated the 5th anniversary of its STAR Program for Social Good. As a key part of the celebration, the STAR Program officially launched the Installer Partner Initiative, aiming to invite more installer partners to join in impactful Social Good projects.

Hikvision STAR is a key component of Hikvision’s sustainability journey, which stands for “Sustainability through Technology, Actions for Responsibility”. Beyond driving innovation to support customers and business, Hikvision also contributes to society through public welfare.

With this vision in mind, 5 years ago, on October 23, 2020, Hikvision launched its STAR Program for Social Good, aiming to provide AIoT technologies, products, and solutions to help non-profit organizations and projects explore innovative ways to benefit communities, nature, and culture. To date, Hikvision has partnered with over 30 non-profits in 14 countries and regions.

However, during the past 5-year journey, Hikvision and its partners had consistently encountered significant obstacles in complex installation environments. Many project sites are situated in remote locations – including plateaus, oceans, and forests – imposing demanding requirements on installation.

Hikvision’s glacial lake monitoring and protection project, partnered with the Institute of Tibetan Plateau Research, is a strong example. Teams had to install monitoring devices in extreme cold and strong wind conditions high in the Himalayas, highlighting how technically demanding such STAR projects are.

Reflecting this insight, Hikvision advanced the STAR Program by launching the Installer Partner Initiative, calling for installer partners to join by contributing installation techniques. Joining partners can enhance their capabilities while achieving social value and growth through participation.

“Although some NGOs can rely on their IT teams to install cameras, most of them still lack this professional skill,” stated Ms. Merida Shen, the initiator of Hikvision STAR Program for Social Good. “That’s why we launch this Initiative, calling for installer partners to join us in this meaningful journey and together create a better world.”

It is reported that the Installer Partner Initiative aims to call for global installers who possess technical expertise and commitments to social good. “We look forward to advancing co-creation with our installer partners.” Ms. Merida stated, “Together, we build a better world and THRIVE for a better future.”

Humanitarian Organization Sends Emergency Relief Supplies and Prepares for Long-term Recovery Amid Category 5 Storm

SPRINGFIELD, Mo., Oct. 27, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — As Hurricane Melissa bears down on Jamaica with life-threatening winds, flooding and a storm surge, Convoy of Hope is deploying resources to aid those in the storm’s path. The leading disaster-response humanitarian organization is coordinating with partners and local contacts to send truckloads of essential supplies—including food, clean drinking water, hygiene kits, baby care products and more—to support survivors in the days and weeks ahead.

Airports across Jamaica were closed ahead of the storm, making evacuation nearly impossible. Hundreds of shelters have opened as residents brace for impact. Melissa has already killed three people in Haiti and one person in the Dominican Republic.

Meteorologists warn the storm could drop up to 40 inches of rain and push over 10 feet of catastrophic storm surge onto the southern coast. Sustained winds have reached 165 mph, making Melissa one of the most powerful storms ever recorded in the Caribbean. It will cause “extensive infrastructure damage” that will cut off communities, the National Hurricane Center warned.

“Convoy of Hope is actively mobilizing resources and team members to meet the needs of the people of Jamaica,” said Ethan Forhetz, Convoy of Hope’s spokesperson. “This is a catastrophic storm, and so many people need our help. Convoy is committed to delivering hope to Jamaica as quickly as possible.”

Convoy’s disaster services team is already in motion, moving shipments to ports and working to expedite transport. The organization’s response strategy emphasizes both immediate relief and sustainable recovery, ensuring communities have access to long-term support once emergency needs are met.

Convoy of Hope has extensive experience responding to hurricanes and natural disasters worldwide. In 2024, the organization responded to 99 disasters, including the California wildfires, Central Texas floods and Hurricanes Milton and Helene. In fact, Convoy has continued long-term recovery work in Los Angeles following the fires, and in six U.S. states following Hurricane Helene. The organization also maintained a five-year response in the Bahamas following Hurricane Dorian in 2019.

“We’re ready to help for the long haul,” Forhetz added. “Our goal is to stand with communities not only in the days after disaster strikes, but through the years of recovery that follow.”

While the full impact of Hurricane Melissa will take some time to assess, Convoy’s teams are preparing immediate relief efforts. Its robust network, supported by volunteers, church partners and civic organizations, continues to allow Convoy of Hope to distribute supplies and provide continued aid as needs evolve.

Forhetz is available for interviews to discuss Hurricane Melissa, Convoy’s disaster response efforts and the organization’s commitment to helping communities recover from catastrophic events.

This year’s conference will pay special attention to the connection between science and art, as well as the role of collaboration among local jurisdictions in addressing extreme weather and sea level rise. The event will feature a performance by Fog Beast and host Keynote speaker Diandra Marizet Esparza, an Intersectional Environmentalist and Co-Founder & Director of Impact, to discuss the connection between Art & Storytelling in Collective Environmental Action.

The State of the Estuary Conference also will shine a spotlight on new data about the health of the San Francisco Estuary. On the first day of the conference, October 28, the San Francisco Estuary Partnership and the San Francisco Estuary Institute will debut the online hub, State of Our Estuary, which will share the first widespread status and trend indicators update on the health of the San Francisco Bay and Delta since 2019.

A “Decision Makers Panel” plenary session on Wednesday, October 29, will explore how local elected officials are championing nature-based solutions along Bay Area shorelines; a meaningful and timely conversation as dozens of nature-based projects are being developed around the region to address the region’s more than $200 billion vulnerability to sea level rise by 2100.

The conference also will showcase conversations and findings on the following topics:

  • Tackling the next phase of wetland expansion
  • The state of local birds and habitat preservation
  • How new technology is being applied to identify and reduce pollution
  • Development of regional strategies to address sea level rise and floods
  • Innovative nature-based adaptation projects in the Bay
