Vocational school, community colleges receiving grants

HOLMDEL, N.J., Nov. 14, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — To inspire the next generation of electric industry professionals, the FirstEnergy Foundation is donating $55,000 to New Jersey educational programs focused on electrical trades and science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) programming. The grants are part of more than $5.5 million in community support distributed across FirstEnergy’s service area to date in 2025.

Five vocational school and community college programs, located in communities served by FirstEnergy (NYSE: FE) electric company Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L), are directly benefiting from the donations.

Filling A Future Need
The FirstEnergy Foundation grants will support a variety of electrical education and STEM programs that benefit students at all levels, from elementary school through college.

Doug Mokoid, FirstEnergy’s President of New Jersey: “We live in an increasingly connected, high-tech society. We need to prepare the next generation to meet those demands, whether they are working on electrical systems, flying drones or engineering the next great device. STEM is a vital part of the future. New Jersey has been at the center of innovation since the invention of the light bulb, and we’re proud to help continue that great tradition in the communities we serve.”

Funding The Future
Programs receiving grants include:

  • Brookdale Community College Foundation Trust, Monmouth County ($20,000): Funding will enhance seven electrical engineering lab stations used by more than 230 students for courses such as electronics, digital logic, industrial automation and embedded systems, circuit design and analysis, signal generation and measurement, safe power delivery and adjustable voltage testing.
  • Warren County College Foundation, Warren County ($15,000): The grant funds the Readiness Initiative for Safety & Education (RISE) program’s drone training program, which works with local schools and police to offer free drone operator training and pilot certificates. Through RISE, 20 high school educators and 10 police officers will earn their FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate each year.
  • Sussex County Community College, Sussex County ($10,000): Funds will establish a program to loan tools to the 30 students enrolled in the college’s Electrical Line Worker program and buy electrical safety gear for low-income students.
  • Ocean County College Foundation, Ocean County ($5,000): Funding supports the Cosmos Classroom program at the Robert J. Novins Planetarium, delivering science and STEM education to almost 8,000 K-12 students annually through 160 public, private and home school field trips and community partnerships.
  • Ocean County Foundation for Vocational and Technical Education ($5,000): Funding will help provide electrical supplies for nearly 150 students in the Electrical Trade Technology program’s simulated work environment.

More Than Money
Earlier this year, JCP&L volunteers participated in Career Day activities at Ocean County Vocational and Technical School, sharing their experience and expertise with students in the Electrical Trade Technology program. The company also regularly hosts STEM groups from local schools at its Holmdel and Morristown headquarters, providing an inside glimpse into the management of the electrical grid.

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 14, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Nearly two decades ago, TOMS launched with a revolutionary idea: that business could be used as a force for good, and that every pair of shoes purchased could spark change in a child’s life. On November 6, that founding vision came full circle as TOMS visited Monson-Sultana School in Central California to provide new shoes to K-8 students, thanks to purchases made on the brand’s One for One™ Days.

The shoe distribution event, held in partnership with Save the Children, honors the giving model that started it all. This year, TOMS brought back its iconic One for One promise for two special days—June 8 in celebration of International Children’s Day, and August 9 for back to school. On those days, for every pair of shoes purchased on TOMS.com, TOMS pledged to donate a pair to a child in need. The response was overwhelming, and last week those promises were fulfilled.

“Seeing the direct connection between our customers’ purchases and the impact we can make together never gets old,” said Becky Kent, TOMS VP of Impact. “The families who shopped with us on One for One Days made this moment possible. They chose to be part of something bigger, and through our trusted partner Save the Children, we’re able to turn those purchases into meaningful change. Now kids at Monson-Sultana will each have a new pair of shoes that fit well and feel good.”

Each pair donated represents more than just comfort and protection—it’s a reminder that when we come together, we create better tomorrows. For many families, receiving shoes through programs like this means they can redirect resources toward other essential needs.

“When children have the essentials they need—like a sturdy pair of shoes—they can walk and run confidently toward their full potential,” said Lucero Chavez Ramirez, California State Director for Save the Children. “We’re honored to partner with TOMS and their customers, whose generosity is transforming individual acts of kindness into lasting change in children’s lives.”

TOMS’
partnership with Save the Children builds on a shared legacy of impact. Since 2006, TOMS has donated over 100 million pairs of shoes and has given more than $200M USD in the form of shoe donations and monetary grants to nonprofits across the globe. The brand has given more than 1.3 million shoes through its partnership with Save the Children alone—all powered by customers who believe, like TOMS does, that commerce and compassion can step forward together. Today, TOMS continues evolving its mission while staying true to its founding purpose: improving the lives of children by helping support their education, health, and well-being.

About TOMS

Founded in Venice Beach in 2006, TOMS brought a simple idea to life: that a single pair of shoes could spark a global movement. What began with its iconic Alpargata has grown into a full lifestyle brand, offering espadrilles, sandals, sneakers and casual dress shoes for women, men and kids. With its signature CloudBound™ underfoot technology, the company puts all-day comfort at the forefront of its design. Today, TOMS is sold in over 30 countries, available direct to consumers on over 10 regionalized websites and through a variety of global retail partners. Every purchase helps support children’s education, health and well-being. As a Certified B Corporation, TOMS continues to use business as a true force for good, building a legacy of Better Tomorrows with every pair.

  • Financing facility supports conversion of more than $50 million in contracted school bus orders, with over 130 chassis already produced to accelerate revenue recognition and improve working-capital efficiency.

  • Early production work positions GreenPower for improved gross margins and a pathway to positive operating cash flow.

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 14, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — GreenPower Motor Company Inc. (NASDAQ: GP) (“GreenPower” or the “Company”) today announced accelerated production of its all-electric school bus lineup, supported by a financing facility of up to $18 million, deployable in tranches of up to $2 million. The facility is designed to optimize cash conversion cycles, enabling GreenPower to match capital deployment with production timing as the Company scales output.

“We are entering a period of meaningful operational leverage,” said Fraser Atkinson, CEO of GreenPower. “With more than $50 million in contracted orders for our Nano BEAST and BEAST school buses, this facility allows us to convert backlog into deliveries more efficiently. Before finalizing the facility, we pre-built over 100 Nano BEAST cab chassis and 30 BEAST chassis, significantly reducing production lead times. This creates a clear path toward accelerated revenue recognition, margin expansion, and improved operating cash flow.”

GreenPower remains the only fully electric OEM manufacturing both a Class 4 Type A and Class 8 Type D school bus. This vertically integrated, purpose-built platform strategy positions the Company to capture share as the school transportation sector transitions to zero-emission fleets supported by federal and state incentives.

SAN JOSE, Calif., Nov. 14, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — LEOTEK participated in the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30), presenting its innovations at the Digital Innovation Pavilion organized by the Taiwan Climate Partnership within the Blue Zone. Ewing Liu, Chief of Staff and Vice President of Sales at LEOTEK’s U.S. headquarters, delivered a keynote speech titled “Lighting the Net-Zero Path: Global Practices in Intelligent Sustainable Infrastructure,” sharing how the company applies technology to help cities move toward a net-zero and sustainable future.

The forum, themed “Prosper and Innovate: Digital Empowerment for Environmental Coexistence,” was moderated by Luis Neves, CEO of the Global Enabling Sustainability Initiative (GeSI). It focused on how digital innovation can foster cross-sector collaboration to build a resilient and sustainable future. Held in Belém, Brazil, COP30 centers around the “Action Agenda,” highlighting six key pillars: urban resilience and infrastructure, energy and transport transition, biodiversity, food systems, just transition, and finance mechanisms, emphasizing the shift from commitment to action.

Within this context, LEOTEK’s vision of intelligent sustainable infrastructure integrates smart mobility, ecological lighting, and AI-driven data management technologies, addressing COP30’s core agenda on “urban resilience and infrastructure.” “We believe lighting is where technology meets ecology,” said Liu. “Through the integration of AI, IoT, and optical science, we help more than 300 cities build safer, smarter, and more nature-friendly urban networks.”

LEOTEK has long been committed to integrating lighting technology with ecological conservation. As early as 2014, the company introduced amber coastal lighting in Florida, USA, to reduce artificial light disturbance on sea turtle nesting and feeding, initiating global practices for eco-friendly lighting environments. It later launched the ECOridge Ecological Lighting Technology, granted a patent and designed with an ecological perspective integrating spectral control, intelligent environmental sensing, and the LEOLink RenAI: AI-powered Central Management System. The innovation was honored with the Edison Awards (USA), establishing LEOTEK as a global leader in sustainable roadway lighting.

Since 2023, LEOTEK has collaborated with Taiwan’s Forestry and Nature Conservation Agency (FANCA) to advance the “Light Up Taiwan: Eco-Friendly Lighting Environment Project.” The initiative uses low-blue-light spectra and precise optics to reduce light pollution affecting fireflies and coastal species such as sea turtles. In 2024, the company expanded its efforts to the conservation of the endemic Matsu firefly (Rhagophthalmus ohbai), improving lighting conditions for population recovery and habitat restoration, demonstrating technology’s role in supporting ecological resilience.

LEOTEK also leverages the LEOLink RenAI: AI-powered Central Management System to analyze data and optimize lighting performance, creating a comprehensive solution that connects ecological design with smart governance. Currently, the Light Up Taiwan project covers 12 of the 45 ecological green corridors across Taiwan, advancing cross-regional biodiversity management. The technology is also being expanded to North, Central, and South America to establish demonstration projects for eco-lighting and international collaboration, continuing the vision of “net-zero and coexistence” worldwide.

At the same time, LEOTEK’s Interlux AI Traffic Signal System has been deployed across the Americas, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region, reducing carbon emissions while enhancing urban mobility efficiency, achieving both smarter traffic flow and lower emissions.

STORA ENSO OYJ INSIDE INFORMATION 14 November 2025 at 10:31 EET

HELSINKI, Nov. 14, 2025/PRNewswire/ — Stora Enso is initiating a strategic review of its Central European sawmills and building solutions operations. The review, to be carried out in 2026, will cover one business unit of Wood Products business area, including seven sawmills in Austria, Czechia, Poland, and Lithuania, and further processing units with three cross-laminated-timber (CLT) mills, as well as wood procurement, and international sales and distribution operations. Whilst the business in scope has a strong position in an attractive market, it does not bring strategic or operational synergies for Stora Enso’s core renewable packaging operations.

In the strategic review, different scenarios will be assessed for the business and assets in scope, including the possibility to divest the business, to strengthen Stora Enso’s strategic focus on renewable materials and packaging. The synergetic sawmills in Northern Europe, including further processing operations, in Sweden, Finland, Estonia and Latvia are not part of the assessment, and this part of the business remains strategically important to Stora Enso going forward.

Stora Enso is the largest sawn wood producer in Europe and a world leader in providing sustainable wood-based building solutions, including the advanced CLT elements, for the global construction industry. The seven sawmills under the review have a production capacity of about 3 million m³ and offer an extensive range of sawn products and mass timber components. This entity represents approximately 50% of the Wood Products segment’s sales. In recent years, Stora Enso has developed industry leading building solutions, providing innovative concepts, services and a comprehensive portfolio of products to support low-carbon construction.

Stora Enso plans to provide an update on this strategic review in 2026. In the meantime, operations will continue as usual, with an ongoing commitment to delivering high-quality, competitive products and services to customers.

All possible changes are subject to co-determination negotiations and other potential legal procedures in all impacted countries.

BEIJING, Nov. 13, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — A news report by China.org.cn on the philosophical underpinnings of China’s climate leadership:

China leads the world in clean energy production and electric vehicle manufacturing. But what sparked this remarkable achievement?

The driving force is Chinese President Xi Jinping’s approach that goes beyond conventional thinking. Traditional economic theory held that nations must choose between environmental protection and development. Xi rejected this premise entirely.

Instead, he saw that protecting nature and building wealth can support each other. For Xi, green policies can be a new engine for economic and social development.

This episode of “Xi Inspires” explores the philosophical underpinnings of China’s climate leadership.
