Each year on the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, the world recognizes the critical role women play in driving innovation, advancing discovery, and strengthening communities. At Chemours, this day is an opportunity to reflect on our ongoing commitment to cultivating an environment where women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) can thrive, lead, and inspire the next generation.

Across our laboratories, manufacturing facilities, offices, and global teams, women at Chemours bring curiosity, expertise, and leadership that move essential industries forward, support local communities, and contribute to building a better world.

This year, we’re honored to spotlight seven colleagues whose journeys illustrate the power of mentorship, perseverance, and possibility in STEM.

Alana Swinton, EHS Senior Specialist

Alana’s career shows how early guidance can unlock technical confidence and purpose. Beyond her day-to-day responsibilities, she champions growth through the Chemours Women’s Network and community volunteering—helping emerging professionals build in-demand skills and pursue meaningful careers in STEM. “Mentors taught me research skills, analytical techniques, and self‑advocacy. Now I help others build confidence, grow their skills, and pursue fulfilling STEM careers.”

Camila Granato Tiezzi, Executive Buyer, LATAM

Inspired by a trailblazing leader early on, Camila learned to step into larger responsibilities. She now advocates for purpose-driven development, encouraging colleagues to invest in self-knowledge, balance, and continuous learning through the Chemours Women’s Network. “A pioneering female leader taught me to be courageous and embrace change. Today, I encourage others to find purpose and pursue a balanced, fulfilling path.”

Dianne Fields, EHS Manager

Dianne was motivated to explore analytics—momentum that culminated in the Alteryx Maveryx Excellence Award for Corporate Sustainability. She now demystifies STEM, showing that data skills and discovery are both accessible and exciting. “A mentor pushed me to learn new analytics tools, which changed my trajectory. Now I work to inspire students to see STEM as full of possibility.”

Jody Sciance, Engineering and Mine Strategy Manager

A chemistry teacher once recognized Jody’s potential and opened new horizons. Building on that encouragement, she guides early‑career professionals to map their paths, navigate challenges, and lead with confidence. “Someone once saw potential in me that I didn’t yet see in myself. I aim to do the same for emerging professionals.”

Julie Johnson, Plant Manager for Chambers Works, Parlin & Elkton

Mentors and supporters have shaped Julie’s leadership at every stage. In return, she invests in the next generation—mentoring, judging science fairs, and being there for others to ask questions and learn from her experiences. “So many people taught and encouraged me. I hope students gain the courage to try new skills and discover lifelong curiosity.”

Rachel Evans, Data Management Senior Consultant

A pivotal conversation helped Rachel reassess her strengths and chart a path in IT. She now champions mentoring to help others navigate transitions, translate strengths into new roles, and take their next step with clarity. “A mentor helped me see how I could contribute in IT—a turning point that has shaped my career. I want others to feel supported to navigate transitions with confidence.”

Stefanie Kopchick, Clean Energy Venture Leader

Stefanie credits leaders who challenged and trusted her—and who modeled courage with compassion. She pays it forward by sharing experience and perspective with people building multidimensional careers in a fast‑changing world. “Because others supported me, I make time to mentor and share experiences that I hope will help others as they navigate their own multidimensional journeys.”

Together, these stories highlight how progress is fueled by diverse perspectives, collective ambition, and the power of mentorship to help open the door for the scientists, engineers, and problem‑solvers who will shape what comes next.

From the frontline to the back office, every Chemours employee knows they are a part of something bigger than themselves and are proud to be a part of making a meaningful difference. Learn more about career opportunities with Chemours at https://www.chemours.com/en/careers.

Around the world, the logistics sector is growing fast, but companies can’t find enough qualified workers to keep up. In fact, a shortage of skilled talent is now one of the top barriers to growth across the industry. In Mexico, for example, the logistics sector is projected to grow by approximately 7% annually by 2030, yet 68% of logistics companies already report difficulty finding skilled talent (ManpowerGroup).

At the same time, many young people in Mexico are looking for work. But misaligned school systems and limited access to technical training leave them unprepared for jobs in modern logistics. As a result, young people are locked out of high-potential careers, and companies face severe difficulties hiring the best talent.

Four students showing their work

In 2018, FedEx approached the International Youth Foundation (iyfglobal.org) with a shared challenge: How can we best close this workforce gap while building a more inclusive, future-ready logistics sector?

We’re often flooded with diet promises claiming to be the key to better health. Popular plans like keto and paleo encourage more meat. At the same time, fibermaxxing focuses on daily fiber intake (a difficult goal when you’re eliminating carbohydrates). It’s easy to be confused and wonder what approach makes the most sense. What if you could take the best parts of these trends—like fiber-rich produce, quality protein, and nutrient-dense foods—and make them work for you? Guiding Stars is here to show us how we can.

Keto, but Better

The typical keto diet is very low in carbohydrates (less than 50 grams). It’s also very high in fat (about 70% of calories). Putting your body into ketosis will likely lead to weight loss—that is true. However, consuming so few carbohydrates can have a negative impact on your digestive system, mood, energy output, and strength. And a diet so high in saturated fat from higher-fat meat and full-fat dairy also increases risk of heart disease.

Are you curious about the keto diet but also looking for an approach that’s sustainable (with fewer negative impacts)? Then modify the traditional approach. Go for Guiding Stars-earning, lean meats for high-protein intake without saturated fat. Choose very lean ground turkey, 90% lean ground sirloin, and skinless chicken breast. Limit higher-fat proteins to salmon and other fish high in omega fats. And include just enough whole grains and fiber-rich vegetables to sustain your energy and protect your digestive system.

Intermittent Fasting

The eating pattern known as intermittent fasting remains popular. But for many people, it’s unsustainable and creates extreme hunger that leads to the same or more daily intake (just in fewer hours). Instead, eat earlier in the day and limit evening eating to create a 10-12-hour overnight fast. This gives the digestive system time to rest and may positively impact metabolism as well. For many of us, this simply means not eating after 6 or 7pm.

Plant-Based Protein

Interest in plant-based eating has increased over the past few years, with more products proudly calling out “plant-based” on their packaging. But it’s easy to overlook the nutritional quality of a product if “plant-based” is the only consideration. Look for Guiding Stars to ensure a product isn’t just made from plants, but that it’s nutritious too. Remember, you aren’t just not eating meat, you’re choosing plant-based protein. Viewing it through this lens encourages a balanced diet with adequate protein. Without this focus, your diet may lack the nutritional balance you need.

Paleo

The paleo diet attempts to replicate the way hunters and gatherers ate before we could farm (and process) foods. The emphasis is on grass-fed meat, fish, poultry, eggs, nuts, seeds, and lower-glycemic vegetables and fruit. Unlike the keto diet, a paleo approach won’t leave you in ketosis. However, eliminating whole grains, dairy, and legumes means missing out on fiber and other essential micronutrients. Try a more balanced, sustainable approach instead—choose fewer processed products, limit added sugar, and use Guiding Stars to find nutrient-dense products

About Guiding Stars

Guiding Stars is an objective, evidence-based, nutrition guidance program that evaluates foods and beverages to make nutritious choices simple. Products that meet transparent nutrition criteria earn a 1, 2, or 3 star rating for good, better, and best nutrition. Guiding Stars can be found in more than 2,000 grocery stores and through the Guiding Stars Food Finder app.
