Direct Selling News just dropped its annual 40 Under 40 list, and it’s packed with bold talent shaking up the industry. These game-changers – from marketing mavericks to product powerhouses – aren’t just keeping up with the trends; they’re setting them. Recognized for their leadership, disruptive ideas, and undeniable impact, this year’s class is redefining what it means to lead in direct selling.

Julia Santosuosso, Program Manager of Global Social Impact at Mary Kay, brings warmth, dedication, and purpose to everything she does. With a genuine passion for creating positive change, she collaborates closely with Mary Kay’s global markets and external partners to drive meaningful impact through the company’s social initiative, Pink Changing Lives®.

Did you know: Mary Kay ranked #9 on Forbes’ 2025 list of Best Brands for Social Impact 2025 – out of 3,900 brands, being the only beauty brand and the only direct selling company represented in the Top 10.

We caught up with Julia to get to know her better and learn about her vision of leadership beyond self.

What do you do in your current role? How did you get to this point in your career?

  • In my current role, I lead Global Social Impact delivering programs and strategic communications with a focus on Mary Kay’s global corporate philanthropy and reputation building. My role encompasses everything from driving our multi-faceted Pink Changing Lives® programs – benefiting millions of women and investing over $230 million into communities and non-profits – to our Young Women in STEM initiatives helping young women pursue their dreams in STEM fields often underrepresented by women. I also manage the U.S.-based Mary Kay Ash Foundation® overseeing cancer research and domestic violence shelter grants, programs, and partnerships along with donor engagement, events, and day-to-day operations.
  • What I love most about my work is the heart of the Company – where brand purpose, community investment, and storytelling all intersect —helping to amplify the Company mission to enrich women’s lives.
  • My career began in nonprofit, where I spent nearly a decade working in development, communications, and event management (often all in the same role!) That experience gave me a deeper appreciation for the power of mission-driven work and that tangible impact can be achieved on any scale when people unite for a cause. I knew when I transitioned to the corporate sector, purposeful work had to remain at the core of my responsibilities.

How were you introduced to the direct selling channel?

  • Growing up in Dallas, Mary Kay has always been an iconic brand and well-known for its exceptional work culture, but it wasn’t until joining the company that I could fully appreciate the transformative opportunity it creates for women around the world.
  • The first time I attended Mary Kay’s U.S. Seminar – a conference convening thousands of Independent Beauty Consultants from across the country to recognize, celebrate, and learn how to develop their business – could I fully grasp the grit, determination, network, and empowerment running a Mary Kay business brings to life.
  • Since then, I’ve had the privilege of working closely with our global markets and independent sales force members around the world, amplifying the impactful work they are doing locally to make the world a more beautiful place.

What about direct selling most excites and/or inspires you?

  • Empowering women. What other industry can a woman define her future on her own terms? Whether she starts a business for supplemental income, flexibility, a sense of purpose or community – direct selling allows women to cultivate success in a way that works for them at any stage of life.
  • Connecting customers with amazing products is just the beginning of what direct selling unlocks for a woman starting a business. It’s about building confidence, gaining independence, and charting her own course. I have seen firsthand how direct selling transforms lives and strengthens communities – it’s a beautiful thing.
  • As for the channel, I believe direct selling will continue to evolve into an even more dynamic and omnichannel experience. Technology is rapidly changing the game, finding faster, better, more sustainable ways to create and maintain meaningful connections and sales experiences with customers across the world. It’s an incredible time to join direct selling; the possibilities to grow your multi-faceted business are only getting better.

What’s one piece of advice or “pearl of wisdom” you could share to anyone starting out in a direct selling corporate career?

  • Say yes to every opportunity to ask questions, learn, and keep growing. Early in my career, I shied away from questioning decisions or sharing feedback that differed from the group – thinking experience automatically gave you the right answer, so my input must not be as valuable or needed. It wasn’t until much later, I realized we each bring a unique perspective and experience to every situation, problem to be solved, or strategic brainstorm – our collective input only elevates the group’s outcome.

At Covia, safety is more than a priority—it is a core value deeply embedded in every aspect of our operations. From our plants to our offices, we are committed to protecting the well-being of our team members, customers, partners, and communities.

Our comprehensive Safety and Health Management System provides the foundation for this commitment. It encompasses a wide range of safety programs, training initiatives, contractor safety protocols, and more. Additionally, we track performance, manage risk, and promote continuous improvement through clear safety targets—like the Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR), which measures MSHA-reportable incidents per 200,000 hours.

As of June 2025, Covia’s Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) approached world-class standards. Although there is always more work to be done, we are proud of this achievement and the key initiatives that made it possible:

  1. Soter Wearable Sensors: The Soter Coach Sensor program was deployed across all sites earlier this year, delivering significant measurable reductions in both back and shoulder injury risk.
  2. Enhanced SLAM (Stop, Look, Analyze, and Manage) Risk process: In May, Covia implemented a more detailed version of our risk assessment program, focusing on non-routine tasks where the majority of injuries occurred according to incident analysis.
  3. Eye Protection: Eye protection guidelines were updated to better prevent injuries caused by dust and debris.
  4. Human-Machine Interactions: New protocols were introduced to ensure safe approaches to mobile equipment. These include clear pre-approach conditions and a revised hoisting and rigging policy that describes the safe handling of dewatering pumps.
  5. Drive Belts. Drive belt safety practices were reaffirmed, specifically prohibiting the rotation or movement of sheaves by manually pulling on belts.

These initiatives are only as effective as the people who implement them. It is through the diligence, commitment, and continued support of our plant teams that we are able to strengthen site safety and improve our TRIR performance.

At Covia, safety is not just a goal—it’s a shared responsibility and a way of life.

Key Points

  • Osage Nation leaders and Marathon Pipe Line representatives have reaffirmed their ongoing coordination to maintain the safety of the Ozark pipeline.
  • A recent meeting highlighted measures for further enhancing pipeline integrity as well as the benefits of Marathon Pipe Line’s grant support for the tribe.
  • Along with scholarships for students, grants have provided equipment for first responders and assistance in helping establish a new health complex.

July 18, 2025 /3BL/ – The Ozark pipeline passes through 29 miles of the Osage Nation in northeastern Oklahoma, providing the basis for an ongoing collaboration that has created multi-faceted benefits for the tribe. The Osage Nation’s leadership recently gathered with representatives of Marathon Pipe Line (MPL), the pipeline’s operator and a wholly owned subsidiary of Marathon Petroleum’s midstream segment, MPLX, for a daylong meeting that showcased their connection.

“The primary objective was to provide Osage leaders with detailed information on pipeline integrity, preventative maintenance and emergency preparedness, along with addressing their questions,” said MPL Heartland Area Manager Jayson Nohl. “During the meeting, the Osage Nation’s director of education took time to highlight the impact of MPL’s grants on students in recent years.”

Community investment grant support has helped students enhance their science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) skills through special learning experiences. Students have participated in CyberPatriot, a national youth cyber education program, and attended the national conference of AISES, a nonprofit focused on increasing Indigenous representation in STEM studies and careers.

“Thanks to Marathon, we are able to help our students see themselves and their communities as belonging in academic spaces, which leads to increased success.”

The grants have also provided scholarships as well as supplies and equipment for schools, including a flight simulator at a high school for hands-on training.

“With my scholarship, I was able to lighten the financial burden associated with flight training and obtain a private pilot’s license, an instrument rating and a commercial pilot’s license, and also begin pursuing a multi-engine rating,” said Fouad Sakhakhni, a recipient of an Osage Nation Career Training Scholarship.

“Thanks to Marathon, we are able to help our students see themselves and their communities as belonging in academic spaces, which leads to increased success,” said Osage Nation Director of Education Mary Wildcat.

More recent assistance has gone beyond education. Environmental remediation and new outdoor recreation facilities made possible by MPL helped establish the new Osage Nation Health Complex. Another grant delivered attack hoses and nozzles to the city of Skiatook’s fire department. Last fall, MPL conducted an incident response drill with the Osage Nation that involved boom deployment on Skiatook Lake.

“We understand that the location of the pipeline connects us with the Osage Nation in working to preserve the safety of the people and environment of this region,” said MPL Public Engagement Coordinator Abbey Will. “To keep the trust of leadership and landowners, we are committed to maintaining the open dialogue and timely communication that has built our strong relationship.”

SWORDS, Ireland, July 18, 2025 /3BL/ – Trane Technologies (NYSE:TT), a global climate innovator, was a key contributor to the to the International Energy Agency’s (IEA) CEO Four-Point Action Plan for energy efficiency published following the IEA’s 10th Annual Global Conference.

The conference, co-hosted by IEA Executive Director Dr. Fatih Birol and European Commissioner for Energy and Housing Dan Jørgensen, was held in Brussels last month and focused on implementing the COP28 goal of doubling energy efficiency progress this decade.

The plan also followed the company’s pledge, signed last month at the conference, to promote business as a key force in implementing energy efficiency technologies. As a signatory of the IEA’s CEO Letter of Commitment, Trane Technologies agrees to advance energy efficiency for industrial productivity, decarbonization, and competitiveness.

Speaking at the conference, Jose La Loggia, CEO EMEA at Trane Technologies, stated: “The absurdity of rejecting heat into the atmosphere is a misguided, traditional energy practice that needs to change. The world needs to adopt the readily available sustainable solutions that can integrate heating and cooling systems by reusing waste heat, thereby enabling high levels of energy efficiency.”

La Loggia participated in the roundtable where the Brussels CEO Four-Point Action Plan was developed. This strategic plan, launched in partnership with the Energy Efficiency Movement and co-hosted by the European Commission, aims to accelerate public-private collaboration to double energy efficiency progress by 2030 through a system perspective approach, shared expertise, risk mitigation, development and innovation and strengthened industrial competitiveness. These initiatives aim to strengthen public-private collaboration for stronger action on energy efficiency.

Through its actions at the conference, Trane Technologies affirms its 2030 Sustainability Commitments, which include achieving carbon neutral operations by 2030 and reducing absolute energy consumption by 10% by 2030 from a 2019 baseline. When severe flooding struck Texas, homes were destroyed, roads were impassable, and access to medical care became critical. In response, Direct Relief quickly mobilized to support healthcare providers and first responders on the front lines of the crisis.

Among the most urgent needs were emergency medical backpacks, packed with life-saving medications, medical tools, and essential supplies. These backpacks were requested to support ongoing search and rescue efforts and connect people facing flood effects with needed healthcare and services in the hardest-hit areas. However, with infrastructure severely disrupted, getting these supplies to where they were needed most was a challenge.

That’s where FedEx stepped in. Through their in-kind shipping support, FedEx ensured the timely delivery of six emergency medical backpacks to Texas. They also funded the backpacks, making it possible for Direct Relief to provide this vital assistance.

These backpacks will supply healthcare workers and first responders with the necessary tools to care for flood survivors, helping them provide immediate relief in an already overwhelming situation. The collaboration between Direct Relief and FedEx highlights the importance of swift and reliable support in times of crisis, ensuring life-saving resources reach communities in need.

This effort underscores how organizations can come together to make a tangible difference when disaster strikes. With FedEx’s logistics expertise and Direct Relief’s response efforts, communities in Texas are receiving the support they need to recover and rebuild.

Climate Change

We operate with the future in mind.

GoDaddy remains conscious of our responsibility to protect the environment for future generations. We prioritize efficiency, productivity, and sustainable practices across our operations and measure our greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to annually to track our progress. We hold ourselves to our commitment to be good environmental stewards and focus on areas where our impact is most significant — our data centers and corporate real estate.

Through our recently completed DMA and climate scenario analysis, we took steps to identify and assess potential climate-related risks and opportunities within our operations and supply chain over multiple time horizons. Both our DMA, as referenced in the Sustainability Governance section, and our climate scenario analysis, which is discussed in detail in the Frameworks & Metrics section (page 48), support our sustainability approach and strategy.

In 2024, we introduced our new Environmental Policy, detailing our approach to climate change, resource usage, biodiversity, and our high standards for our suppliers. The Nominating and Governance Committee of the Board approved and oversees this Environmental Policy. We believe that we can continue operating our business responsibly, while minimizing the environmental impact of our operations and supply chain and complying with applicable laws.

Greenhouse Gas Emissions

Through our GHG inventory process we closely monitor emissions from our operations and supply chain. The inventory results help to inform the key areas where we can improve as we evaluate our environmental impact and opportunities to drive value.

In 2023, we surpassed our initial goal of reducing scope 1 and 2 (market- based) emissions by 50% from a 2019 baseline—achieving this milestone two years ahead of schedule. Building on this success, in 2024 we set our new target to reduce scope 1 and 2 emissions (market-based) by 90% by 2030 from a 2019 baseline.

As of December 31, 2024, we exceeded our planned emissions reductions, achieving an 88% reduction of scope 1 and 2 emissions (market-based) relative to our 2019 baseline. The 2024 GHG inventory results reflect our continued focus on energy efficiency and renewable energy. For additional details on these efforts, please refer to the Energy section (page 45).

GoDaddy follows the GHG Protocol (operational control approach) and our established Inventory Management Plan to complete our annual emissions calculations. Until we achieve our new reduction target, we intend to measure our interim progress annually by comparing our scope 1 and scope 2 (market-based) emissions at the end of the relevant reporting year to the same emissions from December 31, 2019.

We seek opportunities to refine our calculation methodologies, where relevant, in line with the GHG Protocol and best practices. In 2024, we added scope 3 category 9 Downstream Transportation and Distribution to our GHG inventory to capture emissions from our products after the point of sale. We also aim to evaluate opportunities to reduce scope 3 emissions.

  • 1%: Scope 1
  • 5%: Scope 2 – Market-Based
  • 65%: Scope 3 – Purchased Goods and Services
  • 3%: Scope 3 – Capital Goods
  • 3%: Scope 3 – Fuel and Energy Related Activities
  • <1%: Scope 3 – Upstream Transportation and Distribution
  • <1%: Scope 3 – Waste Generated in Operations
  • 2%: Scope 3 – Business Travel
  • <1%: Scope 3 – Downstream Transportation and Distribution
  • 4%: Scope 3 – Employee Commuting
  • 15%: Scope 3 – Use of Sold Products
  • <1%: Scope 3 – End of Life Treatment
  • <1%: Scope 3 – Investments

Operating Efficiently

Protecting the environment starts with efficiently managing the resources our operations consume. We seek opportunities wherever possible to minimize water use, waste generation, energy consumption, and pollution. Through reuse, recycling, and thoughtful consumption, we also work to minimize waste and e-waste, ensuring compliance with all applicable environmental laws and regulations related to air, land, and water.

Our Global Real Estate and Workspaces (GREWS) Team collaborates with IT to responsibly manage e-waste, including batteries, laptops, and other technology. We repurpose and reuse materials when we can, but when items reach end-of-life, we ensure they are sustainably recycled through our trusted third-party partners.

Our hybrid work model reduces GoDaddy’s demand for physical office space. The GREWS Team continues to optimize our real estate footprint and coworking spaces by evaluating utilization patterns, reducing wasted resources, cutting costs, and lowering our operational energy footprint. Additionally, our data centers play a significant role in our operational GHG emissions. For details on our approach to operating our data centers efficiently refer to the Energy section (page 45).

Sustainable forestry requires a thoughtful balance between responsible resource management and the protection of ecologically, culturally, and historically significant sites. At PotlatchDeltic, foresters combine technology with hands-on expertise to identify and preserve these special places, so that forests remain productive while safeguarding their conservation value.

Some areas within working forests hold unique ecological or cultural importance. These sites may include rare ecosystems, critical wildlife habitats, historic landmarks, and indigenous cultural sites. PotlatchDeltic follows rigorous standards, as required by the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) and Sustainable Forestry Initiative® (SFI®) standards. Identifying and protecting these places requires more than just policy – it takes careful planning, innovative technology, and deep local knowledge.

Before any operational activities begin, foresters follow a robust standard operating procedure, which includes using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to analyze spatial data, overlay habitat and environmental restrictions, and pinpoint areas that require special care. By identifying these areas early, foresters can make informed decisions that balance conservation with responsible land use.

Technology has significantly improved the ability to detect and protect special sites. For example, drone technology has helped foresters locate sensitive wildlife habitats, such as gopher tortoise burrows, that might otherwise go unnoticed. However, technology alone isn’t enough. Engaging with local stakeholders, including indigenous groups and historical societies, adds a crucial layer of insight. These collaborations help verify a site’s cultural and environmental significance.

Once identified, these special sites can become an integral part of PotlatchDeltic’s conservation strategy. Protections are embedded into the company’s GIS database, so that conservation measures can be considered in connection with timber harvesting, road placement, and land-use planning. Foresters carefully tailor conservation efforts to each site’s unique needs. In areas with endangered species, buffer zones are established, and harvest schedules may be adjusted to minimize disturbance. For newly discovered nesting sites, forestry operations may be postponed until the nesting season concludes, so that wildlife populations can remain undisturbed. In riparian zones, best management practices focus on protecting water quality and maintaining habitat conditions for aquatic species.

Training plays a vital role in maintaining these protections. Foresters and contractors are equipped with knowledge and tools that enable them to recognize special places in the course of their field work. Structured environmental management systems bring conservation priorities to the forefront, with automated planning tools that flag restrictions tied to sensitive areas. Annual inspections and compliance monitoring on larger, unique aeras further reinforce these safeguards, so that special places can continue to provide ecological and cultural value over time.

The importance of safeguarding special places has never been greater. By integrating technology, stakeholder engagement, and best management practices, the company takes steps to safeguard critical habitats, historic sites, and high conservation value areas while maintaining a sustainable supply of timber. PotlatchDeltic’s approach demonstrates that sustainable forestry and conservation can coexist.
