America Ferrera joins The Solutions Project in highlighting the invaluable climate solutions migrants have brought to the United States

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 5, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — The Solutions Project, a leading funder of grassroots climate organizations, has launched a new social media campaign celebrating the ways U.S. migrants are helping their communities adapt to climate change. The week-long campaign, titled Building Home + Future, kicked off on Monday, November 3 and today released a powerful video narrated by award-winning actress, America Ferrera. The campaign will run through Sunday, November 9.

As part of the campaign, The Solutions Project is looking at narratives of those displaced by climate disasters within the U.S., as well as those migrating across borders for political, economic or climate reasons.

“It takes bravery to leave your home and to build a new life in a new community or country,” said Gloria Walton, President and CEO of The Solutions Project. “This year marked the 20th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, one of the largest examples of climate migration in this country. Since then, with the rising climate crisis, we’ve experienced even more climate migration—here and all over the world. Climate migrants can drive the solutions we need for climate adaptation, mitigation and resilience, making them true solutionaries.”

Building Home + Future

will highlight migrant-led climate solutions in three cities and regions:

  • In San Francisco, the Latinx-led nonprofit PODER has a group of immigrant leaders and community outreach workers called Promotoras sharing knowledge with the local population about migrant rights, climate disaster preparedness, and climate resilience. The Promotoras are leading community engagement in the San Francisco Healthy and Resilient Homes program to help ensure Northern California’s electrification efforts also benefit households most impacted by disinvestment and environmental harm, like displaced peoples and immigrant communities.
  • In Miami, WeCount! has launched Planting Justice, a worker-driven campaign to call on corporate retailers to guarantee labor and human rights standards for immigrant plant nursery workers who grow the majority of houseplants sold in the U.S. Through the innovative worker-driven social responsibility (WSR) model, these workers are finding a solution to climate-driven extreme heat and other job hazards.
  • In Buffalo, NY,PUSH Buffalo has a Sustainability Workforce Training Center that trains local residents for building careers in clean energy and sustainability. It also helps them find work in local construction, renewable energy, and the energy efficiency sector. They also host a community garden that is volunteer-run and provides gardening plots to immigrants to grow produce from their homelands and showcase alternative growing methods to the community.

“Across the country, immigrant workers are showing up to protect all Americans from the growing threat of climate change,” said Oscar Londoño, Co-Executive Director of WeCount!. “As temperatures rise every year, immigrant workers are leading the fight to protect all outdoor workers from heat-related illnesses and deaths on the job. As hurricanes, floods, and wildfires devastate our communities, immigrant workers are risking their lives to protect our homes and rebuild our cities. Instead of giving in to a false politics of fear and division, we should honor the sacrifice and contributions of millions of immigrant workers in our communities and fight together for a country and a future that includes all of us.”

In the Building Home + Future video, America Ferrera voices, “No matter why we move or where we came from, this is the moment to acknowledge that migrants can strengthen communities and bring with them robust climate solutions. This moment calls for all of us to join forces.”

Through this campaign, The Solutions Project aims to amplify on social media positive stories about migrants, climate solutions, and the importance of a vibrant multi-racial democracy.

“We have a responsibility to challenge false and dangerous narratives. We encourage our partners, allies, and like-minded people around the world to join us in this effort,” said Mark Ruffalo, Co-Founder of The Solutions Project.

National Partnership for New Americans
is one of dozens of organizations that are also participating in the campaign. This week NPNA launched www.climatedisplacedleaders.org to showcase a diverse set of first-hand stories from immigrants and refugees who migrated to the United States seeking safety from climate impacts.

“Immigrants and refugees are on the frontlines of the climate crisis, and its solutions,” said Ahmed Gaya, Director of the Climate Justice Collaborative at the National Partnership for New Americans. “Despite facing the trauma of displacement from their homes, these climate displaced leaders are planting the seeds of resilience in communities across the United States. We launched www.climatedisplacedleaders.org to elevate the first-hand stories of so many immigrants and refugees who arrive carrying so little, but bringing so much.”

The Solutions Project’s website, Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn will serve as the platforms for the Building Home + Future campaign.

BELLEVUE, Wash., November 5, 2025 /3BL/ – Because emergencies don’t care who your wireless provider is, T-Mobile (NASDAQ: TMUS) is making sure 911 access is available to as many people as possible. Starting today, anyone with a compatible phone can sign up to use T-Mobile Text to 911 through satellite in the 500,000 square miles of the U.S. not reached by traditional cell towers. Now, along with Text to 911 services available via terrestrial cell towers, wireless users in remote areas without traditional coverage can now reach emergency services nearly anywhere with a view of the sky.

“There’s a good chance you’ve had that moment in your life at some point. Badly rolled ankle deep into a backcountry hike. Stuck in a tree well while skiing. Flat tire on a backcountry road. Or a million other situations that require access to emergency services in a place without cell service. It’s an absolutely terrifying feeling that we don’t want anyone to have ever again,” said Mike Katz, President, Marketing, Strategy & Products, T-Mobile. “T-Mobile Text to 911 with T-Satellite gives peace of mind. It’s there when you need it the most. And it’s too important to keep gated. Now all wireless users with a compatible phone can sign up for T-Mobile Text to 911 for absolutely free.”

How It Works

This past July, T-Mobile rolled out T-Satellite with Starlink, a service that connects the compatible phone in your pocket to an array of 650+ Starlink satellites orbiting the Earth more than 200 miles up in space. The satellite network gives wireless users a lifeline when they’re way off grid and can’t connect to earth-bound cell towers because, perhaps, the tower is too far away or there’s an obstruction or, heaven forbid, a natural disaster has taken down the local wireless network. In that case, the phone’s signal goes up, up, up to a satellite instead of up and over to a cell tower. The phone automatically connects to the satellite network when a terrestrial signal drops. No special settings, no pointing your phone at the sky — it just works. T-Mobile’s vision is that if you can see the sky, you’re connected.

In just its first few months, T-Satellite users have connected for all manner of reasons: from adventuring to off-grid work to simple peace of mind. And, on rare occasion, to reach 911 for emergency services. It was a no-brainer to take the Text to 911 feature that T-Mobile built within T-Satellite and make it available — for free — to any person that enrolls with a satellite-compatible smartphone.

Placing a Text to 911 via T-Satellite is just like sending a normal text message. Simply pull up the phone’s native messaging app, enter the message, enter 911 in the phone number field and hit send.

T-Satellite Service Options

Because T-Satellite is the only game in town of its kind, T-Mobile has opened up the full service to all wireless users, not just T-Mobile customers. Here’s the full range of satellite connectivity options available to make sure everyone has the right level of peace of mind for their individual preference:

T-Mobile customers

  • T-Satellite — including messaging, Text to 911, data and location services, among others — is included with Go5G Next and Experience Beyond plans, plus T-Priority (for individuals and businesses) and SuperMobile
  • T-Satellite with all its services can also be added a la carte to any other T-Mobile plan for $10 /month
  • T-Mobile Text to 911 is available for free as a standalone option to all T-Mobile customers, including business customers, with a compatible device

Non T-Mobile customers

  • T-Satellite can be purchased a la carte for $10 / month for those with a compatible device
  • All wireless users with a compatible device can now enroll for free access to T-Mobile Text to 911

Enrolling in free T-Mobile Text to 911 service involves just a few steps for both T-Mobile customers as well as those with another wireless provider:

  • T-Mobile customers can add the service under “Manage Data & Add-Ons’” in their account online or in T-Life
  • Non-T-Mobile customers can enroll here
  • New business customers contact 866-380-7511

Satellite Emergency Service Options

While T-Satellite with Starlink is the only service of its kind, two other satellite-based messaging services offer access to emergency services on select iPhone and latest Google Pixel models. T-Satellite automatically defers to those device-native services.

For more information, visit the T-Satellite web page here.

For information on device compatibility, visit here.

###

T-Satellite: Texting & select satellite-ready apps with compatible device in most outdoor areas in the U.S. where you can see the sky. Satellite service, including Text to 911, may be delayed, limited, or unavailable. Included with Experience Beyond plans or $10/mo.; auto renews monthly. Cancel anytime in T-Life App.

Ft. Collins-based center offering complimentary mental
health treatments for firefighters

FORT COLLINS, Colo., Nov. 5, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Miramont Wellness Centers are offering complimentary mental health treatments for first responders as part of its partnership in the BTL Cares First Responder Initiative, a wellness campaign developed by BTL Industries to provide mental and emotional health support to firefighters.

Miramont Wellness is now offering firefighters complimentary treatments of EXOMIND™, a brain stimulation device that helps reduce depression and optimizes mental health. This breakthrough, FDA-cleared device supports mental clarity and emotional resilience.

“We are excited to launch this partnership with BTL Industries during National Depression and Mental Health Screening Month,” says John Bender, M.D., founder and CEO of Miramont Wellness. “Firefighters are often the first to respond in emergency situations and show up when our community needs them most. We’re honored to give back by offering treatments that help them feel strong, clear, and supported — inside and out.”

The partnership reflects a greater understanding of the mental toll that first responders endure. For example, studies show that up to 30% of firefighters experience behavioral health challenges, and many suffer from chronic fatigue, and burnout because of the demanding nature of the job.

Through EXOMIND™ firefighters will gain access to non-invasive, drug-free, and surgery-free treatments which may:

  • Improve emotional regulation and cognitive function
  • Help with focus and brain fog and improve mood
  • Treat depression, anxiety and OCD

Dr. Bender encourages local firefighters to reach out to learn more or schedule a consultation by calling Miramont Wellness Centers, about the BTL Cares program at 970-225-5005 or log on to www.Miramont.US.

LUND, Sweden, Nov. 5, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Alfa Laval today announced the extension of its longstanding partnership with EDF, (Électricité de France SA) to support the next generation of nuclear energy projects in France. The agreement, signed at the World Nuclear Exhibition in Paris earlier today, marks a significant milestone in the companies’ shared commitment to delivering reliable, low-carbon electricity to meet energy demands.

With the global need for low-carbon energy accelerating, nuclear energy is a cornerstone of the future energy mix. Alfa Laval has been a trusted provider of solutions to the nuclear industry since 1964 and a partner of EDF since the 1970s. This latest collaboration will see Alfa Laval’s advanced gasketed and semi-welded plate heat exchanger technology deployed across EDF’s sites in Penly, Gravelines and Bugey, supporting the construction of six new EPR2 reactors.

To streamline construction and optimize capital expenditure, Alfa Laval and EDF are adopting a standardized approach for all EPR2 reactors. By leveraging modular technology and serial production, the project will achieve greater efficiency, reduce complexity and enable faster implementation across all sites while supporting EDF’s robust portfolio of 57 active nuclear reactors in France.

“The success of the EPR2 program depends on the collective commitment of all players in the nuclear industry. We are delighted to have Alfa Laval as a trusted partner and are counting on their support to make EPR2 a success in France,” says Catherine Back, Director of the EPR2 project.

“Decarbonization of the global energy supply will require massive electrification efforts with low-emissions power generation, and nuclear energy will be one of the key contributors,” says Tom Erixon, CEO and President of Alfa Laval. “We believe that the future needs more of these large industrial projects scaling up low-carbon nuclear energy and we are pleased to contribute to that development in France.”

Wesco team members proudly participated in the 39th Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project, hosted by Austin Habitat for Humanity from October 26 through 31, 2025. This year more than 1,000 volunteers from around the world came together to build 25 new homes in Whisper Valley. Austin Habitat for Humanity is building long-term affordability into every home constructed at Whisper Valley, with a focus on delivering high-quality, energy-efficient homes that reduce costs for homeowners today and in the future.

As a Dream Maker sponsor, Wesco made a financial contribution and sent eight volunteers each day to assist with the build. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation Corporate Citizenship Center named FedEx the winner of the 2025 Citizens Award in the Best Community Improvement Program category. The award recognizes FedEx for its collaboration with Feed the Children. Since 2023, FedEx and Feed the Children have operated a year‑round, hub‑based program to curb childhood food insecurity, marrying FedEx’s logistics prowess with Feed the Children’s on‑the‑ground distribution expertise. Working with schools, the partners serve students and families through Feed the Children’s Food & Essentials hub program. The shared goal: a future where no child is held back by hunger or lack of basic resources.

Across the United States, many families face difficult choices between groceries, rent, and school supplies. The program aims to address root causes of hunger by delivering nutritious food, personal care items, and school materials through local school districts—creating predictable, dignified access to essentials.

This initiative emphasizes more than immediate relief. It integrates logistics, education, and community feedback to create a scalable system adaptable to different neighborhoods, urban and rural alike. Leadership from both FedEx and Feed the Children remains actively involved, ensuring continuous oversight and alignment with broader social goals.

“FedEx is proud to work alongside Feed the Children to deliver nutritious food, essential household and personal care items, school supplies, books, and more to the Food & Essentials Hubs, serving students and families where they are,” said Jenny Robertson, SVP Marketing & Communications, FedEx. “Our team members take great pride in programs and volunteer opportunities that support our neighbors. We are committed to building strong local communities and delivering positive change around the world—starting with the places where we live and work.”

Impact highlights since the collaboration began

2023–2024 school year

  • Operated across nine school districts—including Atlanta, Dallas, Detroit, Houston, Los Angeles, Memphis, Oklahoma City, Orlando, and Phoenix.
  • More than 58,000 students across 370 schools reached.
  • Distributed over 346,000 meals and nearly 335,000 pounds of essential personal care items.
  • Total value of distributed goods exceeded $4.7 million.

2024–2025 school year

  • Expanded geographic reach and service capacity to high‑need areas.
  • Continued distribution of more than $3 million in essential household and personal care items.
  • Opened a new location in Los Angeles in response to heightened community needs after the LA wildfires.

Meals provided exceeded 566,000, a 63% increase from the previous year.

2025–2026 school year

The program tracks not only the volume of goods distributed but also its impact on family well‑being and student performance:

  • 88.9% of the districts felt that the Food & Essentials Hub program improved student behavior and attendance.

  • 100% of the districts felt that the Food & Essentials Hub program improved students’ self-confidence.

  • 100% of districts were extremely satisfied with the household and personal care items

  • 77.8% of districts were extremely satisfied with the food products.

Tamara Sandberg, Vice President of U.S. Mission Impact at Feed the Children, told the team at the Memphis launch audience, “Kids can’t be hungry for knowledge if they are hungry for food.” That insight continues to drive the mission to remove barriers for students and families by uplifting local communities. FedEx Cares connects the passion and expertise of our team members with the resources of leading nonprofits, like Feed the Children, to help solve some of the world’s most pressing problems.

The Chamber Foundation’s Citizens Awards spotlight the powerful role businesses can play in communities worldwide. Winners are selected for their significant positive impact and their ability to drive innovative solutions to pressing challenges.

The Chamber Foundation announced the winners of the 2025 Citizens Awards on Oct. 28 at a ceremony in Washington, D.C. Learn more about the awards program here.

On a crisp September morning in Columbus, Georgia, the city’s bravest laced up their boots — not for duty, but for a cause. Firefighters and law enforcement officers ran shoulder to shoulder in full gear during the Firefighters 5K, a powerful show of solidarity for children facing cancer. The event, benefiting CURE Childhood Cancer, was more than a race — it was a moving tribute to courage, resilience and community.

Among the crowd was 3-year-old Charlotte Williams, a Columbus native currently undergoing treatment for leukemia. Wearing her CURE T-shirt, Charlotte watched in awe as local heroes ran in her honor. Her parents, overwhelmed with emotion, expressed deep gratitude for the support shown to their daughter and others like her. It was a moment that captured the heart of the event and the mission behind it.

CURE Childhood Cancer has long supported families in and around Columbus. Through hospital partnerships and referrals from social workers and nurses, CURE ensures that every family facing childhood cancer receives comprehensive care. This includes emergency financial assistance, counseling for patients and their families, transportation and lodging help, bereavement support, and more. Currently, CURE is actively serving 111 families in the Columbus region — families in treatment, in survivorship and those grieving unimaginable loss.

The Firefighters 5K features three divisions: firefighters in full gear, law enforcement and military, and a community division open to all. It’s a celebration of strength, unity and compassion — and a chance for the Columbus community to rally around its youngest fighters.
