• The new pet food packaging solution is designed for recyclability and incorporates food-contact compliant recycled plastic content from advanced recycling, setting a new standard for sustainability in the pet food industry.
  • The collaboration combines Dow’s materials science expertise, Zermatt’s packaging innovation, and Nature’s Variety’s commitment to high-quality pet food for a solution that meets upcoming legislative requirements and consumer demand for sustainable packaging.
  • The new pouch includes 10% recycled content [mass balance approach] and can help comply with the 2030 target required by the EU’s Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) for contact-sensitive packaging.

HORGEN, Switzerland, November 6, 2025 /3BL/ – Dow (NYSE: DOW), Zermatt, and Nature’s Variety announce the launch of a new pet food packaging solution that is designed for recyclability and incorporates recycled content from advanced (also known as chemical) recycling. This innovative product, already on the shelves in Spain, France and Portugal marks a significant step forward in sustainable packaging for the pet food industry with multiple aspects of circularity in a single item.

The collaboration between Dow, Zermatt, and Nature’s Variety brings together leaders in materials science, packaging innovation, and premium pet food. Dow provides innovative solutions that support manufacturers and brands in achieving their sustainability and performance objectives. Zermatt specializes in creating high-performance sustainable packaging solutions for a diverse range of applications. Nature’s Variety, a leading European pet food brand, is committed to providing high-quality, natural pet food products for dogs and cats.

“This achievement highlights the importance of strong value chain collaboration. With our combined innovation, together we are delivering a solution that proactively meets legislative requirements and advances sustainability in the pet food packaging segment,” said Antonio Barrasus, commercial director, Zermatt SA.

Innovation that proactively enables more sustainable pet food packaging

This innovative new pouch, specifically designed for Nature’s Variety pet food products, is a result of simplifying the former multi-material structure (PET/PE) into a mono-material PE film structure aligned to anticipated design for recyclability (D4R) standards from The European Committee for Standardization (CEN).

The D4R structure also incorporates recycled content from advanced recycling using an ISCC Plus certified mass balance credit approach. This is an important step to enable the safe use of recycled plastics into food contact and other contact-sensitive applications, providing consumers with peace of mind on food safety while also reducing reliance on virgin resources and advancing a circular economy for food packaging.

Today, this Nature’s Variety pet food pouch includes 10% recycled content [mass balance approach] and can help comply with the 2030 target required by the EU’s Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) for contact-sensitive packaging. The brand’s medium-term goal is to reach 30% recycled content by 2030.

“By leveraging our innovative circular materials and expertise, we are supporting packaging redesign for recyclability, and the development and incorporation of advanced recycled materials into contact-sensitive applications. This is key to enabling customers and brands to meet voluntary circular plastic packaging commitments and legislative requirements,” said Marian Gmenta, marketing lead for circular & renewable solutions at Dow.

Addressing consumer preferences for circular solutions in pet food packaging

Nature’s Variety has observed that recyclable and sustainable packaging has been gaining relevance amongst consumers. This trend underscores the importance of developing packaging solutions that not only protect the product but also contribute to a circular economy.

“At Nature’s Variety, we are aware of the footprint left by our decisions. This is why we are not only committed to providing the best for our pets, but also to reducing the impact we have on the environment. To do so, we have defined a series of specific actions,” said Ilaria Bianchi, international marketing manager, Nature’s Variety. “This new packaging designed for recyclability and including recycled plastic content, thus reducing the use of virgin plastic, marks one big step in this direction and reflects our dedication to innovation.”

The new pouch will be on display alongside other innovative Dow packaging solutions at K 2025 in Dusseldorf, Germany from 8-15 October, at the Dow building 04.1, outside Hall 4. To learn more, visit Generation Transformation.

ALEXANDRIA, Va., November 6, 2025 /3BL/ – The Responsible Business Alliance (RBA) today announced the live implementation of its Responsible Business Transparency Protocol (RBTP), a data exchange protocol built on the United Nations Transparency Protocol (UNTP) and World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) verifiable credentials.

Global supply chains are extremely complex, regulations are constantly evolving, and governments and customers are increasingly requiring provenance and other documentation to verify claims ranging from proof of origin to sustainability and due diligence. To address these challenges, the RBTP is an industry-specific extension of the UNTP that helps enable verifiable, portable, and interoperable supply chain data exchange across the automotive, electronics, and related sectors and helps enable the foundation of n-tier traceability.

Instead of relying on spreadsheets, PDFs, or siloed platforms to share sustainability and other data, companies can issue digital credentials. With a simple scan of a bar code or QR code, or by clicking on a hyperlink, these credentials can be accepted, passed along and checked by others, either manually or using existing tools and platforms.

The RBA recently began a collaborative pilot of the RBTP, bringing together diverse supply chain actors to test the protocol against data-sharing challenges, data complexities, and audit standard interoperability in mineral supply chains. The pilot aims to provide proof of concept for the RBTP and practical insights for the tools and engagement required to help ensure scaling throughout supply chains.

This pilot spans copper, cobalt, lithium and tantalum, which are critical minerals that underpin modern electronics – everything from EV batteries to smartphones. More than 20 organizations are involved, including upstream producers, downstream buyers, standards bodies, and a government agency. The goal is to demonstrate how a protocol built for traceability, auditability, and interoperability can work under complex, real-world conditions. With its large and diverse membership across the electronics, automotive, retail, and other sectors and its members’ suppliers on multiple continents, the RBA is uniquely positioned to pilot and pressure-test the infrastructure needed to facilitate transparency between suppliers and buyers across supply chain tiers.

“The Responsible Business Transparency Protocol is grounded in UN standards, with the technical specifications clearly defined to support broad adoption by governments and industries around the world,” said Tyler Gillard, Chief Strategy Officer, Responsible Business Alliance (RBA). “That means it’s designed to be adapted to local needs and regulations, and works using open-source technologies, across existing software and systems. Data stays with the owner so they can decide what data gets shared.”

Pyx Global, a UNTP acceleration partner, is supporting the RBA to coordinate the collaborative supply chain pilot. In addition to designing the technical backbone, Pyx is supporting the RBA in aligning with UNTP requirements and adapting the RBTP to reflect sector-specific needs.

The pilot will examine scenarios including the handling of partial or missing data, linking chain of custody claims across supply chain tiers, accommodating different sharing and security preferences and technical maturity levels, and verifying due diligence certifications across platforms. The pilot aims to deliver quantifiable insights on implementation cost and effort, validation of the RBTP as a flexible and scalable protocol, clarity on how traceability and sustainability claims can be trusted and reused, and the portability of supplier credentials across systems and platforms.

The UNTP focuses on interoperability standards that allow any technology platform to participate in interoperable and sustainable value chains. The protocol defines a relatively simple architecture comprising standards for product data, facility data, traceability data, conformity data, and identity data. Learn more about the UNTP here.

Community-wide effort addresses growing food insecurity among Utah children and families

SALT LAKE CITY, Nov. 6, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — In a powerful response to growing food insecurity affecting Utah families and the recent federal SNAP cutbacks, the USANA Foundation joined forces with community partners and volunteers on Wednesday, November 5, to assemble 3,000 bags of food for children and families facing food insecurity.

The large-scale event, held at the USANA Foundation Headquarters in West Valley City, brought together hundreds of volunteers from organizations including the Bountiful Food Pantry, For the Kids, the Utah Department of Cultural and Community Engagement, and Kristen Andrus’ Gathering for Impact. USANA executives, employees, and community donors also participated, creating a powerful show of unity and compassion for those in need. The bags will be distributed to the five Salt Lake area school districts along with the Bountiful Food Pantry and For the Kids.

“This event demonstrated the incredible impact that collaboration can have,” said Brian Paul, USANA Foundation President. “When organizations and individuals come together to support families in crisis, we strengthen our entire community. One in six kids in Utah are at risk of going hungry, and being able to help feed these families is what the USANA Foundation is all about.”

Throughout the afternoon, volunteers worked in high-energy assembly lines to pack thousands of nutritious food bags designed to provide immediate relief for families affected by the reduction in SNAP benefits. On Thursday, November 6, local school district trucks will collect and distribute the completed bags to students and families across the region.

The initiative was part of the USANA Foundation’s ongoing mission to ensure families have access to essential nutrition. Organizers emphasized that while the food-packing event provided short-term relief, continued support is critical as Utah families adjust to the loss of benefits.

To continue supporting families in need, the public is encouraged to donate at USANAFoundation.org. Every dollar helps provide essential nutrition to children facing hunger.

National Nonprofit Petco Love Invests
Over $375k in Helping Heroes Initiative Ahead of Veterans Day

SAN ANTONIO, Nov. 6, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Service dog, Maverick, changed U.S. Air Force Veteran Wendy’s life forever. She struggled deeply with PTSD and anxiety which stopped her from leaving home, but caring for Maverick transformed her everyday life. Wendy is one of several veterans across the country profoundly impacted by Petco Love’s Helping Heroes initiative. As Veterans Day approaches, the national nonprofit organization invests more than $375,000 in 40+ service, therapy, and working animal organizations that turn adopted shelter pets into heroes who change lives, especially those of our nation’s veterans.

Petco Love continues to champion and strengthen the lifelong bond between service members and their trained service dogs through its Helping Heroes initiative. With over $19 million invested since 2009, Helping Heroes honors the extraordinary ways pets enrich lives and bring much needed healing, especially for military veterans.

One of Petco Love’s grant recipients this year for Helping Heroes is K9 Partners for Patriots in Florida. The organization partners veterans with service dogs who make all the difference for them. Veteran, Wendy, said she lost her independence before being teamed up with her service dog, Maverick. “Stress and anxiety consumed me,” she said. While visiting the organization’s campus, she was drawn to the black Labrador. She said caring for Maverick, walking him every day, and attending training sessions gradually helped her out of isolation. Now when panic attacks strike, he jumps into her lap or makes sure her focus is on him. Wendy credits Maverick with waking her up from nightmares and helping her feel safe in airports. Now she has confidence again to travel, complete her nursing degree, and pursue a master’s degree. She said, “Maverick has given me the ability to live again.”

“Dogs have an extraordinary ability to bring love and hope to our lives. But when trained to serve, service dogs perform life-changing functions and provide independence for our nation’s military veterans,” said Susanne Kogut, Petco Love President. “Petco Love is honored to invest in organizations that save shelter dogs and train them for service as helping heroes. We’re not only helping transform the lives of these shelter pets, but also empowering veterans and others in need of assistance and unconditional love.”

“From the moment Drako and I met, we had an immediate and powerful connection,” said Army Combat Veteran, James. He was overwhelmed daily with service-related health issues and PTSD. Thanks to another Petco Love grant recipient this year for Helping Heroes, James was teamed up with his service dog, Drako. Working Dogs For Vets in Tennessee helped James adopt Drako from a local shelter. Drako creates a barrier between me and others when I feel overwhelmed, giving me the space I need to stay grounded. He can also sense when I need help and will alert my family if I am in distress. He is incredibly attentive and focused on me, constantly tuned in to my emotions. He quickly became my partner and, at times, my lifeline.”

Thanks to Petco Love’s Helping Heroes grant recipients, veterans like Wendy and James can depend on their service dogs to support their independence and overall well-being. TZUR YIGAL, Israel, Nov. 6, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — HiTHIUM, a leading global provider of long-duration energy storage technology, has announced a strategic cooperation agreement with El-Mor Renewable Energy, one of Israel’s largest EPC. This partnership marks a signification milestone in HiTHIUM’s international expansion into long-duration energy storage (LDES) markets.

Israel has been rapidly expanding its renewable energy portfolio as part of its national strategy to reduce reliance on fossil fuels. The project will also mark the first major overseas deployment of HiTHIUM’s long duration energy storage technology.

“Israel and the broader Middle East are at a turning point in renewable energy transformation,” said Steven Song, HiTHIUM Senior Director or Sales, Israel. “Through this strategic partnership with El-Mor, we are delivering the long-duration energy storage technology that will help stabilize Israel’s grid, enhance solar integration, and empower a cleaner, more resilient power system for the future.”

Avi Elkayam, Chairman of El-Mor Renewable Energy said “We are proud to partner with HiTHIUM in advancing Israel’s transition toward sustainable and resilient energy systems. HiTHIUM’s ∞Power 6.25MWh solution, coupled with our capabilities in executing large-scale PV projects, high voltage sub-stations, and large-scale BESS systems, allows us to provide a one-stop solution for the Israeli energy market.”

This partnership is strategically important for HiTHIUM, demonstrating its leadership in engineering excellence and innovation through its first major overseas LDES project. SANDNES, Norway, Nov. 6, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Desert Control AS (DSRT) announces its third-quarter report and interim financial results for the fiscal period ending 30 September 2025.

Operational Highlights:

  • Woodland Hills Country Club, Desert Control’s first Pay-As-You-Save (PAYS) client, achieved significant irrigation savings and improved turf quality in Q3.Estimated savings and potential incentives may exceed USD 100 000, underscoring LNC’s value.
  • Desert Control launched its first almond pilots in California to evaluate LNC’s impact on water-use efficiency and yield performance in this important permanent crop. The trial marks a key step toward scaling LNC across high-value crops such as pistachios, walnuts, vineyards, and citrus.
  • Partners in Saudi Arabia and the UAE advanced research and commercialization efforts. Saudi Desert Control confirmed over 2× water retention and 3× nutrient gains in field data, while Soyl secured a 4 million-liter commercial award for Al Reem Hills in Abu Dhabi, showcasing large-scale deployment of LNC in sustainable landscaping.

Financial Highlights:

  • Desert Control strengthened its balance sheet during the quarter through the completion of a fully subscribed NOK 75 million rights issue, legally finalized before quarter-end and registered in October 2025.
  • The transaction reinforced the Group’s equity position and extended liquidity runway into second half of 2026.

Revenue Outlook:

  • Revenue for the third quarter and the first nine months of 2025 remained modest compared to the same periods last year, reflecting the structure of the U.S. PAYS contract under which income is recognized only once measurable water savings have been verified by the customer.
  • While substantial application work was completed during the period, related revenues had not yet been recognized as of Q3 2025.
  • The Company expects revenue realization to begin in the fourth quarter, as customer validation milestones are achieved and invoicing commences under the PAYS framework

EBITDA Performance:

  • Total operating expenses increased during the quarter and the first nine months of 2025, resulting in a decline in EBITDA compared with the same periods last year.
  • The increase primarily reflects higher field activity in the U.S., production scaling to support upcoming commercial deliveries, and continued investment in organizational capacity to enable future growth.
  • The period also included approximately NOK 2.5 million in one-off restructuring costs, with limited remaining effects expected in the fourth quarter of 2025.
  • Excluding these temporary items, the underlying cost base remained broadly stable compared with prior periods, reflecting continued cost discipline.

Net Result Impact:

  • The net loss for the third quarter and first nine months of 2025 increased compared to the same periods last year. In addition to effects from the U.S. ramp-up and restructuring activities, the year-to-date result was influenced by foreign exchange movements totalling approximately NOK 9.5 million, mainly recognized earlier in the year. The impact was primarily driven by the strengthening of NOK against USD, resulting in both realised and unrealised losses on USD-denominated balances. These non-cash translation effects do not affect the Company’s underlying operations or liquidity position.

Equity and Cash Position

  • Total equity improved slightly compared to the same quarter last year, supported by the completion of the fully subscribed NOK 75 million rights issue in September 2025.
  • The transaction was legally completed before quarter-end and recognized within equity as of 30 September, with proceeds presented under “Other paid-in capital pending registration.”
  • The shares were registered and cash proceeds received in early October, providing net funds of NOK 70.6 million after transaction-related costs.
  • These proceeds have significantly strengthened liquidity and are expected to fund operations well into 2026, supporting the Company’s continued scale-up and commercialization agenda.
  • Cash and cash equivalents decreased during the third quarter, reflecting planned investments in product development, commercial deployment, and organizational growth.
  • During Q3 2025, the Company also received a NOK 2.3 million SkatteFUNN grant, compared to NOK 1.5 million in the same period last year, related to approved R&D activities.

Billboard-sized illuminated images on downtown L.A. buildings will be unveiled at a press conference Thursday, Nov. 6 at 5 p.m. at the California Community Foundation.

Actors Edward James Olmos and George Takei will join the event’s launch.

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 6, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Three prominent Los Angeles institutions will launch a mass coordinated response Thursday to federal immigration raids, unveiling billboard-sized illuminated images of Angelenos in support of neighbors detained.

The images will appear nightly beginning Nov. 6 at the California Community Foundation, LA Plaza Cultura y Artes and the Japanese American National Museum downtown Los Angeles buildings. Brief stories of those taken, including U.S. citizens, will appear alongside the photographs.

The community campaign raises the urgent question: If people are arrested without regard to constitutional rights, who is safe?

The project, “Am I Next?” will feature images, measuring about 20 by 30 feet, to confront attacks on civil liberties and the undermining of democratic norms that weaken civic life. The portraits feature a cross-section of Angelenos united in protest over recent U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service raids that have swept up hundreds of residents—many with no criminal record—and placed them in detention.

“We ask the question, ‘Am I Next?’ because when basic rights are taken away, anyone can be taken away, for any reason,” said CCF President and Chief Executive Officer Miguel A. Santana. “If anyone’s right to speak, protest or create can be stripped, if anyone can be targeted for their race, religion, identity or who they love, we are all in danger. Until justice is restored, no one is safe. Not one of us. Any one of us could be next.”

The campaign harnesses the power of art and collaborative action to highlight the threat to democracy to all when immigrants are targeted. Along with CCF, participating organizations are LA Plaza de Cultural Y Artes, the Japanese American National Museum (JANM), the Museum of Latin American Art (MoLAA), and the Social and Public Art Resource Center (SPARC). The images will appear in high-visibility areas in downtown Los Angeles, Long Beach and the Westside.

Other institutions plan to project the campaign images in coming weeks. In addition, a dedicated campaign website will allow Angelenos to send in their own photos to show their support. The “Am I Next” content will also be available as open source material to download from the website.

At LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes, in addition to the “Am I Next” content, the installation includes illustrations by over 30 large-scale digital images created by nine Los Angeles–based artists: Brandy González, Ernesto Yerena Montejano, Joel García, John Fleissner, Lalo Alcaráz, Las Chicas Peligrosas, Lilia Ramírez “Liliflor,” Man One and Mario Hernández. The project at LA Plaza, titled “We Belong Here” and displayed indefinitely, also features a display of 13 neon artworks by Los Angeles–based artist Patrick Martinez.

Their work features bold graphics, illustrations and figurative renderings to evoke a feeling that all people in L.A. County deserve to live their lives in peace.

“At a time when diversity is under attack, our mission has never been more urgent,” says Leticia Rhi Buckley, CEO of LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes. “We remain steadfast in amplifying the voices and lived experiences of the Latino community, using our space as both a testament to our heritage and a sanctuary for belonging, and we remain responsive to what is happening in Los Angeles.”

Edward James Olmos, the acclaimed Academy Award-nominated actor and social justice activist, has joined the campaign.

“Throughout my life, I’ve told stories that reflect who we are as Americans—our courage, our struggles, and our shared humanity. Being American has never been about the color of our skin, but the character of our hearts,” Olmos said. “Today, those truths are under attack, and this project stands as a moral call to defend them. That’s why I’m lending my face, my voice, and my heart to it—with everything I am.”

Actor George Takei has also joined the campaign. As a 5-year-old boy, he was one of tens of thousands of Japanese Americans incarcerated during World War II without charges, hearings or evidence of wrongdoing. JANM will intersperse images of those incarcerated with Angelenos standing against the ICE raids. The museum’s historic Little Tokyo location and plaza is where more than 37,000 Japanese Americans from Los Angeles boarded buses bound for America’s concentration camps in 1942.

“Few people stood up for Japanese Americans when they were unjustly incarcerated, which is why we have the moral responsibility to stand up for others today to ensure that what happened back then never happens to anyone again,” says Ann Burroughs, JANM president and CEO. “As our immigrant brothers and sisters face the terror of ICE and [border patrol] raids across the country, the parallels between the state-sanctioned exclusion of 1942 and today are immediate and real.

“Through this project, JANM helps the public reckon with being participants in shaping civic life. It is also a strong reminder to all that memory is not passive. It is an act of resistance, a tool for resilience, and a moral responsibility to defend the principles that define a free and just society.”

CCF will project the images at 6 p.m. nightly on the facade of its building at 717 W Temple St, Los Angeles, CA 90012. The dedicated campaign website will go live on Thursday, Nov. 6 at 6 p.m. at AmINextLA.org.
