Barb, how did you begin working at Mary Kay, or what made you want to work here?

Back in the “old days” – 1990, to be exact – I submitted a paper resume through an employment agency that happened to represent Mary Kay. At first, they didn’t disclose the name of the company, but once they did, I was genuinely thrilled. I had already been familiar with Mary Kay’s products before moving to Texas, and I had a lot of admiration for the brand. The idea of working for a company that not only offered great products but also upheld strong values and empowered women was incredibly appealing to me – and it still is.

What’s one thing people might be surprised to know about you?

Most people don’t guess this, but I grew up on a dairy farm in central Wisconsin. Long before I ever got behind the wheel of a car, I was driving a tractor! It was just part of everyday life on the farm. It taught me a lot about responsibility and hard work from a young age… but let’s just keep that early tractor driving between us and not share it with the Department of Public Safety.

What’s one item on your desk or in your office that you can’t live without?

Back in the 1990s, the must-have item on my desk was definitely my Rolodex – it was my lifeline to people and information. Fast forward to 2025, and that role has long been taken over by my cell phone. It’s where our lives are kept. It’s essentially my modern-day Rolodex, but with a few more bells and whistles.

Who outside of Mary Kay has most influenced your life and how?

Without a doubt, my parents. My mother always encouraged me to treat everyone with kindness, no matter who they are or where they come from. My dad added another layer to that life lesson; he taught me to approach life with a bit of sass and humor. Together, they instilled in me the values of compassion, resilience, and authenticity, and I carry those lessons with me every day.

What advice would you give others at Mary Kay (whether they’re new or tenured)?

Never underestimate the impact of your work here. Whether you’ve just started or have been here for decades, always remember that we are all part of a team working to keep Mary Kay Ash’s dream alive. That legacy isn’t just a nice tagline – it’s a call to action and a reflection of the purpose behind what we do. So give your best, support each other, and keep the heart of the business strong. Let that sense of purpose be your guide in your professional life.

PHILADELPHIA, Dec. 15, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Doral Renewables has secured a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for its 270 MWac Lambs Draw Solar Project in Decatur County, Kansas. Under the agreement, a leading U.S. corporation will purchase 100% of the facility’s energy output and associated Renewable Energy Credits. This milestone reinforces Doral Renewables’ momentum in expanding its contracted energy portfolio across the United States. LevelTen Energy, a leading provider of clean energy procurement solutions, supported the transaction by serving as the marketplace operator and platform provider connecting Doral Renewables and the buyer.

The Lambs Draw Solar Project, located in the Southwest Power Pool (SPP), continues Doral Renewables’ tradition of building strong relationships with local communities and farmers. The company has already established connections with cultural institutions, schools, law enforcement, and first responders, and plans to expand its involvement as construction approaches.

The foundation took that opportunity to reward and celebrate the winners of the Designing Futures 2050 competition finalized earlier this year. 

UNEA is the world’s highest decision-making body on the environment, and it is critical for addressing the shared environmental threats. The Assembly brings together ministers, intergovernmental organizations, multilateral environmental agreements, the broader UN system, civil society groups, scientists, activists and the private sector to shape global environmental policy.

The theme of UNEA this year – Advancing sustainable solutions for a resilient planet – is in total unison with the ethos and purpose of the multiyear student competition programme BE OPEN launched in 2019. Its aim is to raise awareness among young professionals in creative and engineering fields about the urgent need for action guided by the Sustainable Development Goals – with a new goal selected as the competition focus each year.

The company’s highest standing among 79 companies in the DHP Household Durables Industry reflects its continued commitment to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance.

Long-term commitment to sustainability

Beko’s recent recognition is supported by various efforts across its global operations. In 2024, the company implemented 332 energy efficiency projects, delivering approximately 60 thousand GJ of energy savings. Green electricity usage was 60 percent across manufacturing operations, and renewable energy capacity increased to 90 MWp. Circular economy initiatives refurbished more than 114 thousand products. Water efficiency projects generated savings of over 223 thousand m³. With the inclusion of the Ankara Dishwasher Plant in the Global Lighthouse Network, three Beko facilities are now recognised globally as leading manufacturing centers.
