Americans Say Kindness is Their New Self-Care: Crispy Green’s New Survey Reveals Feel-Good Trends from Moms Nationwide

FAIRFIELD, N.J., April 14, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — As the nation battles digital burnout and everyday stress, a surprising new survey from Crispy Green®, the maker of the leading freeze-dried fruit snack Crispy Fruit™, reveals a powerful emotional trend: Kindness has become the go-to mood booster for American families.

The national Mood & Kindness Check-In, conducted with 600 moms across the U.S., found that 65.4% of respondents say being kind significantly boosts their mood, while 90.2% of moms actively teach their kids to practice kindness.

Moms are on a mission to raise a kinder generation. Tired of screen time, shifting norms, and everyday stress chipping away at empathy, they’re putting emotional wellness first—through authentic connections, not quick fixes. The message is clear: kindness starts at home, and these moms aren’t waiting around for change—they’re making it happen.

Surprise Stats That Show Kindness is King:

  • 65.4% say kindness “helps a lot” in improving mood. Another 33.5% say it helps “somewhat.”
  • 90.2% of moms teach their kids to be kind and share.
  • 52.3% say watching a good movie or reading a book helps lift their mood.
  • Only 15.7% unplugged from social media to reset emotionally.
  • 11.3% turn to volunteering to lift their spirits.
  • 40.2% report that simply treating themselves works wonders.

“Small acts of kindness spark oxytocin and serotonin—the brain’s feel-good chemicals,” says Dr. Nicole Avena, neuroscientist, health expert, and author of the book Sugarless: A 7-Step Plan to Uncover Hidden Sugars, Curb Your Cravings, and Conquer Your Addiction

How Are Moms Really Feeling?

Despite the emphasis on kindness and connection, the current mood among moms is mixed. While there’s a strong emphasis on kindness and connection, many are still navigating a swirl of complex emotions. The top 5 drivers of a positive mood include: a solid daily routine, good health, seasonal changes (hello, sunshine!), a supportive person in their life, and keeping up with an exercise routine. Even with these mood boosters in place, the emotional landscape for moms remains nuanced and ever-changing:

  • 40.3% reported feeling content and at peace.
  • But 26.8% felt uneasy or skeptical.
  • And 24.7% admitted to feeling frustrated or angry.

This emotional split underscores the growing need for intentional well-being practices grounded in connection, not perfection.

Ralph Winkler has written a lot of music, but he never imagined one of his most popular songs would be inspired by one of the worst days for his family.

Ralph, 58, who lives in Heerlen, Netherlands, remembers the day in 2023 when he and his wife, Angeles rushed their teenage son, Mikk, to the hospital and first heard about Mikk’s type 1 diabetes diagnosis.

He describes the next few days as a roller coaster ride. The whole family was inundated with information as they learned from hospital staff how to manage blood sugar levels and taught Mikk how to inject himself with insulin.

“It started to hit him very hard, and he started to think, ‘why me?’” recalled Ralph. “We wanted to be able to take the burden from him, so we told him we would handle this together.”

As his family struggled with Mikk’s new medical reality, Ralph began writing music to express his emotions as a father. The resulting song, Wind Underneath Your Wings, is a tribute to his son’s bravery and the fear many parents experience when their child is confronted with a medical problem they are powerless to stop.

Today, Wind Underneath Your Wings is one of Ralph’s most-streamed songs — played more than 18,000 times on Spotify. In fact, the song was so warmly received in their local diabetes community that Mikk and Angeles established the Winkler Wings Foundation. Proceeds from the song go toward the organization’s mission to raise awareness of type 1 diabetes and funds to support those living with the condition.

The foundation hosted its first benefit festival in November, raising more than €4,000.00 to benefit the organization Diabetes+ in The Netherlands.

Today, Mikk is thriving, thanks partly to his Medtronic MiniMedTM 780G insulin pump, which automatically adjusts his insulin levels to help manage his blood sugar. Mikk jokingly refers to the device as his best friend. “It’s really changing my life,” said Mikk. “I feel very free. I can do way more. I can go out more.”

The device also brings peace of mind for his parents, and it’s brought Ralph an extra sense of pride in his day-to-day job working for Medtronic. Ralph helps translate user manuals, including one for the same technology that helps his son.

“This experience forced me to look at my work through the lens of a patient, and it’s easier to see how our colleagues at Medtronic are making an impact on the lives of people around the world,” said Ralph.

Jeremy Lardeau, senior vice president of the Higg Index at Cascale, recently joined industry leaders at The Economist’s Sustainability Week Asia. Over 900 business leaders came together in Bangkok to explore how the region’s rapid economic growth, substantial renewable investments, and diverse ecosystems provide opportunities to lead on decarbonization.

Lardeau joined the “Troubling taxonomies: how to standardize sustainability reporting” panel, moderated by Vijay Vaitheeswaran, global energy and climate innovation editor at The Economist. Participants also included Ornsaran Pomme Manuamorn, senior financial sector specialist at World Bank, and Susanna Hasenoehrl, head of sustainable solutions business, Asia-Pacific and Japan at SAP.

While acknowledging the complexity of the supply chains, Lardeau explained the benefits of standardized sustainability reporting and the use of a common framework. He highlighted reporting challenges including limited resources, duplicative work, contradicting information, and a lack of comparable data. Lardeau also noted that governments have an important role to play in promoting standardized environmental reporting systems through sensible regulation.

Lardeau shared how Cascale’s Higg Index suite of tools unites the industry on a common framework, bringing together 40,000 users – including over 300 Cascale members – across the value chain. He also noted that the Higg Index facility tools, specifically the Facility Environmental Module (Higg FEM) and the Higg Facility Social & Labor Module (Higg FSLM), can contribute facility-level assessments to broader reporting needs. And Lardeau highlighted how supply chain management platforms can help companies comply with disclosures required by legislation.

Emphasizing the importance of collaboration to scale up strategic partnerships, Lardeau noted that Cascale’s new Industry Decarbonization Roadmap (IDR), developed in partnership with Apparel Impact Institute (Aii) outlines key strategies to accelerate collective action for supply chain decarbonization.

Attendees were invited to register for the Cascale Forum, which will take place May 14-15 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The two-day event will bring manufacturers, suppliers, brands, retailers, and key industry stakeholders together to drive actionable solutions on decarbonization, foundational environmental performance, responsible purchasing practices, and more.

MERIDA, Mexico, April 14, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — At the recent 2025 Tech4Nature Summit, Huawei, International Union of Conservation for Nature (IUCN), and local partners launched Phase Two of the Mexico Tech4Nature project, which aims to strengthen the protection of jaguars in Dzilam de Bravo State Reserve and study the effects of climate change on biodiversity.

Alongside Huawei and IUCN, the launch was officiated by Mexico’s Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, the State Government of Yucatán, and local partner C-Minds.

“In Mexico, 42% of our country’s ecosystems face some degree of degradation that we have to work towards solving. This involves monitoring and a lot of restoration work, but it also means something more important, which is precisely what we’re seeing thanks to this alliance,” said Dr. Marina Robles García, Undersecretary of Biodiversity and Environmental Restoration for the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources in Mexico.

Aligned with Huawei’s TECH4ALL initiative and the IUCN Green List, Tech4Nature is a global partnership launched by Huawei and IUCN in 2020 to scale up success in nature conservation through technological innovation.

“Today we celebrate a shared vision, a vision that understands that conservation can no longer depend solely on good intentions or isolated policies. We need science, technology, empowered communities, and committed governments,” said Joaquín Díaz Mena, Governor of Yucatán in Mexico, at the 2025 Tech4Nature Summit.

Due to habitat loss and fragmentation, the jaguar is classified as Near Threatened on the IUCN Red List. To contribute to its conservation, the first phase of the project installed 60 audio devices and more than 20 camera traps in Dzilam de Bravo State Reserve. Using trained AI models, the system is able to recognize the vocalizations and images of species that inhabit the reserve. By April 2025, the solution had identified a total of 147 species and confirmed the presence of nine jaguars in the territory.

The second phase of the project focuses on gathering data about the distribution of jaguar populations, and providing data-driven insights to support decision-making and improve reserve management with a view to creating a biological corridor.

The 2025 Tech4Nature Summit brought together experts, scientists, and conservation leaders from around the world to share advances and strategies in technology-driven nature conservation.

“Digital technology is making biodiversity conservation much more efficient and helping governments and conservationists take faster, more targeted action,” said Tao Jingwen, Director of the Board and Director of the Corporate Sustainable Development Committee for Huawei. “I want to call on more of our partners to join the Tech4Nature initiative to make digital technology a common tool for global ecosystem conservation.”

As well as Mexico, the summit explored Tech4Nature Phase Two projects in Brazil, China, Spain, Kenya, and Türkiye, showcasing how digital technologies and AI analytics can be adapted to the specific needs of diverse ecosystems.

“Building on our momentum so far, we look forward to the second phase of this partnership with great anticipation. This new chapter will address six countries, promoting transformative change for species, ecosystems, and their communities,” said Úrsula Parrilla, Director, Regional Office for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean (ORMACC) for IUCN. “By integrating technology into large-scale conservation, we contribute to global goals that seek to put nature at the center of decision-making for sustainable development.”

Tech4Nature phase two projects

  • Brazil will study the impact of climate change on Marajó Island and monitor the mangrove crab as an indicator of ecosystem health.
  • China uses networked digital solutions and AI analytics to track and support the repopulation of the world’s rarest primate, the Hainan gibbon, just 42 of which remain in existence.
  • Spain aims to protect the Bonelli’s eagle in Sant Llorenç del Munt i l’Obac Natural Park by using digital technologies to analyze the impact of park visitors on the eagles’ reproductive success.
  • Kenya aims to improve monitoring in protected marine areas and coral reef in Kisite-Mpunguti Marine National Park and Reserve to help tackle issues such as illegal fishing and pressure from tourism, and monitor the parrot fish, which helps coral survive.
  • Türkiye represents a pioneering collaboration between NGOs, the private sector, and the government to evaluate biodiversity protection, with a focus on large mammals, including the fallow deer and wild goat in two pilot sites.

The 2025 Tech4Nature Summit attested to how collaboration between the technology sector, NGOs, governments, academic institutions, and local communities has created a new paradigm for protecting biodiversity and ecosystems.

– Presenting Immediately Applicable Circular Recycling Technologies, Solutions, and Use Cases
– Comprehensive Showcase of Sustainable and Specialty Lineups Including Circular Recycling, Copolyesters, and Bio-Based Materials

SEONGNAM, South Korea, April 14, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — SK chemicals will showcase its technological capabilities at CHINAPLAS, one of the world’s top three plastics exhibitions.

SK chemicals (CEO and President Ahn Jae-hyun) announced on the 13th that it will participate in CHINAPLAS 2025, to be held from April 15 for three days at the Shenzhen World Convention and Exhibition Center in Guangdong Province, China.

CHINAPLAS is recognized as one of the world’s top three chemical industry exhibitions alongside NPE in the U.S. and K show in Germany, and is considered the largest in Asia. This year’s exhibition will be held under the themes of △Transformation △Collaboration △Sustainability, with over 4,000 companies from approximately 150 countries expected to participate and showcase the latest innovative technologies.

At this year’s exhibition, SK chemicals will present its sustainable specialty solutions under the slogan “On-hand solution for sustainable tomorrow.” Rather than presenting future plans or technologies still under development, SK chemicals will focus on showcasing proven and commercially available products—such as the world’s first chemically recycled materials—highlighting sustainable technologies and solutions that can be implemented immediately.

In the field of circular recycled materials based on depolymerization technology, SK chemicals will showcase a lineup of recyclable materials designed with both pre- and post-use recyclability in mind. This includes: △ CLARO, a copolyester classified as post-consumer PET, applied to skincare and makeup products from L’Oréal and Estée Lauder △ SKYPET CR, a PET material used in Samdasoo water bottles and Coldplay’s eco-friendly vinyl records △ ECOTRIA CR, a circular recycled copolyester used in interior tiles by CS Group.

SK chemicals will also exhibit everyday consumer products that feature its flagship materials, including: △ ECOZEN, a high-heat-resistant bio-based copolyester used in various kitchen appliances, food storage containers, baby tableware, and sports bottles △ SKYGREEN, a high-performance PETG applied in cosmetic packaging and iced cups, valued for its exceptional transparency, chemical resistance, and processability.

SK chemicals will also present △ ECOTRION, a 100% plant-based bio polyol used in spandex, synthetic leather, and urethane elastomers △ SKYPEL, a polyester-based elastomer that combines the properties of rubber and engineering plastics, used in automotive parts, industrial hoses, subsea cables, and breathable films, along with related application products.

Ahn Jae-hyun, President of SK chemicals, stated, “Through this exhibition, we aim to clearly demonstrate that a sustainable plastic ecosystem—where plastic products are recycled back into new plastic products—is not a distant future goal, but a solution that can be realized today.” He added, “We will continue to build success cases through close collaboration with leading companies across industries and actively promote our unique technologies and products, including circular recycling solutions.”

SK chemicals’ circular recycling is based on depolymerization technology, which breaks down waste plastics at the molecular level to reuse them as raw materials. Unlike mechanical recycling, it maintains the properties and quality—such as the transparency—equivalent to petroleum-based materials, and offers the added benefit of being recyclable again after use. It can also recycle a wide range of waste plastics—not only clear bottles typically used as recycled feedstock, but also colored containers, films, and trays. SK chemicals, leveraging its world-first commercialization of depolymerization technology, has built a broad lineup of recycled materials ranging from general-purpose PET to high-performance copolyesters such as PETG.

  • Expanded Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) includes major properties in New Zealand and enhanced use of nature-related tools; Alignment of nature-related goals with GET strategy
  • Secured S$400 million first-of-its-kind TNFD targets-aligned sustainability-linked loan for nature conservation and sustainable development

City Developments Limited (CDL) has released its 18th Integrated Sustainability Report (ISR) 2025, titled “Zero in on Action: Fast-Forwarding Towards Sustainable Ecosystems”. Building on last year’s focus on nature and biodiversity, this year’s report underscores CDL’s commitment to advancing sustainable ecosystems and creating value for a resilient, nature-positive future. The report also reflects CDL’s pioneering sustainability leadership since 1995, as well as its progress toward Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) goals and targets under the CDL Future Value 2030 Sustainability Blueprint.

In line with its Operational Net Zero 2030 target, CDL has reduced its Scope 1 and 2 operational carbon emissions for assets under direct management and operational control by 25% from 2016 levels. It achieved a 38% reduction in Scope 3 embodied carbon in new developments compared with a 2016 baseline. The Group recorded a 52.1% reduction in Scope 3 investment intensity, reflecting CDL’s commitment to achieving its Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)-validated target of a 63% reduction in emissions by 2030. To further advance its climate action strategy, CDL completed an Internal Carbon Pricing (ICP) pilot study on Republic Plaza, its flagship Grade A office building in Singapore, laying the foundation for future implementations of carbon pricing mechanisms across its portfolio.

Ms Esther An, CDL’s Chief Sustainability Officer, said, “We are thrilled to announce the launch of CDL’s 18th sustainability report, a testament to our unwavering commitment to sustainability for three decades. Guided by our ethos of ‘Conserving as We Construct’, CDL has consistently integrated environmental stewardship, social well-being, and economic prosperity into our operations. We continue to innovate by ‘Cooling by Greening’ and collaborate with our ecosystem of partners to step up nature-based solutions and TNFD reporting. This milestone underscores our dedication to creating sustainable spaces that respect nature, advance communities, and ensures a resilient future for all.”

Further Alignment with IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards with Enhanced Double Materiality Assessment

In June 2023, the ISSB issued its inaugural International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) S1 and S2, which many jurisdictions, including Singapore, have adopted using a phased approach. Moving towards greater alignment with the ISSB Standards, CDL worked with external consultants to enhance its double materiality approach, evaluating both financial and impact materiality in 2024. The Group identified several SROs with potential financial implications on its business. CDL will prioritise addressing these SROs, given the urgent impact of climate change on its core businesses.

CDL has built up a unique blended sustainability reporting framework anchored on impact and value pillars. Since 2008, CDL’s framework has incorporated the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards at its core, adding various framework over the years: CDP (2010), Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB) (2013), Integrated Reporting Framework (2015), SDG Reporting (2016), Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) Recommendations (2017), SBTi (2018), Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) Standards and  Climate Disclosure Standards Board (CDSB) Framework (2020), and TNFD Recommendations (2024).

Strengthening Commitment to Nature and Biodiversity Conservation

CDL has secured over S$9 billion in sustainable financing since 2017. In 2024, it obtained a landmark S$400 million sustainability-linked loan from DBS Bank, aimed at supporting nature conservation and sustainable development in Singapore. The first-of-its-kind loan is tied to TNFD-aligned targets, reinforcing CDL’s leadership in sustainable finance and environmental stewardship.

As one of the first Singapore companies to voluntarily adopt the TNFD Recommendations in March 2024, CDL has expanded its TNFD disclosures this year to include its wholly-managed and owned properties in New Zealand. Additionally, the Company has leveraged advanced AI-driven tools for biodiversity and environmental risk assessments, including Xylo Systems, Integrated Biodiversity Assessment Tool (IBAT), ENCORE (Exploring Natural Capital Opportunities, Risks, and Exposure), and the WWF Risk Filter Suite (Water Risk Filter).

CDL continues to advance nature and biodiversity conservation through the launch of two key initiatives in March 2025, the CDL EcoTrain and CDL MicroForest, at City Square Mall, Singapore’s first eco-mall. These initiatives align with CDL’s TNFD adoption and reinforce its commitment to enhancing urban biodiversity and climate resilience while nurturing future eco-champions and promoting sustainable living.
