For more than two decades, the Mary Kay Ash Foundation® has helped shape the national response to violence against women through its 21-year commitment as Presenting Sponsor of the Conference on Crimes Against Women (CCAW). As the Foundation marks its 30th anniversary, this strategic, sustained investment in saving lives, strengthening systems, and building safer communities nationwide is a cornerstone of the Foundation’s key initiatives toward ending domestic violence and better supporting survivors.

A National Platform for Real-World Change
Each year in Dallas, the Conference on Crimes Against Women convenes one of the largest, most comprehensive gatherings of professionals dedicated to combating gender-based violence. Law enforcement officers, prosecutors, advocates, healthcare providers, and social service organizations come together to share best practices, educate on new technological advancements, and remove roadblocks to ensure they are addressing the most relevant and widespread issues facing survivors and frontline responders.

The scale and impact are significant. From the data reflected in the conference’s recent infographic:

  • 2,483 attendees participated, representing all 50 U.S. states and 4 countries or territories.
  • 280 workshops were delivered, offering practical, real-world strategies.
  • 270 expert speakers shared insights from across disciplines.
  • 80 scholarships helped expand access to critical training.

“This is one of the nation’s most important training and collaboration forums, equipping thousands of frontline professionals with the knowledge, tools, and partnerships needed to better identify, prevent, and respond to violence against women,” said Michael Lunceford, President of the Mary Kay Ash Foundation Board of Directors. “Year after year, the Mary Kay Ash Foundation is honored to serve as Presenting Sponsor. By investing in individuals and organizations supporting survivors and strengthening systems of accountability, we help expand access to safety, healing, and justice – creating a safer world for women everywhere.”

This aligns directly with the Foundation’s broader mission. Since its founding in 1996, the Mary Kay Ash Foundation has granted more than $100 million to initiatives focused on domestic violence prevention and response, as well as cancer research. Its work consistently targets areas where funding can drive meaningful, measurable outcomes.

“For more than 20 years, Conference on Crimes Against Women (CCAW) has been honored to stand alongside the Mary Kay Ash Foundation in a shared commitment to ending domestic violence and strengthening the professionals who respond to it every day,” said Becky Park, Executive Director, Conference on Crimes Against Women. “Because of the Mary Kay Ash Foundation’s partnership, CCAW has trained more than 60,000 professionals nationwide. Each trained professional represents countless survivors who are met with greater understanding, trauma-informed responses, and coordinated systems of support within their communities.”

Honoring a Founder’s Vision
Mary Kay Ash built her company and her legacy on the belief that women should feel safe, valued, and empowered. That philosophy continues to guide the Foundation today. Its partnership with CCAW is a direct extension of that vision:

  • A future where every woman can live free from violence is not aspirational – it is actionable.
  • By supporting CCAW for 21 consecutive years, the Foundation has demonstrated that real change requires consistency, collaboration, and long-term commitment.

Building a Network That Works Year-Round
While the annual conference remains the cornerstone, the Conference on Crimes Against Women is the tip of a much broader ecosystem of education and collaboration, including:

  • Advanced summits focused on specialized issues in gender-based violence
  • Ongoing training platforms that extend learning beyond a single event
  • Community-based initiatives that strengthen coordinated responses in underserved areas
  • Storytelling and awareness channels that elevate survivor voices and expert insights

Together, these efforts ensure that progress doesn’t stop when the conference ends – it continues in courtrooms, hospitals, shelters, and communities across the country.

Why This Work Matters Now More Than Ever
Violence against women remains a persistent and complex issue, requiring informed, coordinated cross-sector responses. The Mary Kay Ash Foundation® understands that solving this challenge demands more than awareness – it requires education, resources, and sustained investment.

Through its partnership with CCAW, the Foundation is addressing a critical gap: ensuring that those who respond to survivors are equipped with the most current, evidence-based tools and strategies available. This is how systemic change happens – not in isolation, but through shared knowledge and collective action. For 22 years, CCAW has been a beacon of hope, healing, and working to make positive changes within a broken system.

We’re helping solve our customers’ big challenges by innovating and delivering solutions that are better for their business and for the environment. Through our Gigaton Challenge, we aim to reduce 1 gigaton of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from our customers’ footprints by 2030.

PROJECT AT-A-GLANCE:

The opportunity:

Significantly reduce refrigerated trailer fleet emissions and improve efficiency.

The solution:

AxlePower dynamic energy recovery system from Thermo King®, a Trane Technologies company.

Sustainability outcomes:

  • Reduces CO2 emissions by up to 7.5 tons per vehicle annually for typical long-haul operations, and up to 12 tons for intensively used trailers.
  • Enables Logista to operate 84% of transport miles with sustainable fleet technology.
  • Eliminates dependency on diesel-powered refrigeration units during battery operation.

When Logista deployed its first AxlePower-equipped refrigerated trailers across Europe in 2024, one of the region’s top logistics operators took a major step toward revolutionizing cold chain transportation. Thermo King’s electric, self-charging trailer cooling system recovers energy that would otherwise be lost, cutting emissions while maintaining the precise temperature control that modern logistics demands.

Known for its commitment to environmental sustainability, Logista continuously seeks innovative ways to reduce vehicle emissions and improve efficiency. The company found its solution in AxlePower, a fully integrated system that generates its own electricity as the trailer moves down the road. The technology combines a generator axle made by German manufacturer BPW with a Thermo King ENERG-e battery pack and smart power management technology.

The technology behind this transformation is as innovative as it is practical. “AxlePower provides an innovative and efficient way to recover energy that traditionally would simply be lost,” said Claudio Zanframundo, President Thermo King EMEA, Trane Technologies. “By recuperating the energy, we reduce emissions, fuel consumption and dependency on external power sources, supporting the transition to greener transport and meeting the increasing environmental demands of the logistics industry.”

The environmental impact is substantial. A single AxlePower system can reduce the CO2 emissions of a typical long-haul refrigerated transport vehicle by up to 7.5 tons per year compared to a standard diesel truck. That number jumps to 12 tons per year for an intensively used trailer, one that logs over 3,000 hours per year.

The Thermo King AxlePower system is based on a proprietary, smart power management technology, which continuously monitors both road conditions and driving operations to recover as much kinetic and thermal energy as possible from the trailer’s e-axle. Fleet managers can monitor a single truck’s battery charge and performance remotely and in real time, making it possible to adjust the system from afar without driver intervention.

Unlike other energy recovery systems, AxlePower intelligently disengages the e-axle during uphill driving, reducing drag on the truck’s engine. This smart design minimizes fuel consumption and keeps operating costs low, while maximizing energy recovery on flat terrain and downhill stretches.

As an added benefit, the AxlePower system operates silently with zero CO2 emissions while running on battery power. This capability is especially valuable for deliveries in noise-sensitive areas and inner-city, Ultra-low Emission Zones.

Today, Logista operates sustainably for 84% of its transportation miles. The company aims to reach 90% by 2026 to meet its environmental, social and governance targets. “With this addition to our fleet, we continue to innovate to offer increasingly sustainable services and reduce the carbon footprint of our transportation division,” said Pedro de Bernardo, General Manager Iberia and Polonia at Logista.

As Logista works toward its goal of operating 90% of its fleet sustainably by 2026, the company serves as a model for how large logistics operations can reduce their carbon footprint without compromising performance. For Thermo King and Trane Technologies, collaborations like this demonstrate that cutting-edge, energy recovery technology can transform even the most challenging transportation applications into sustainability success stories.

To live healthier lives, people need access to health information, supportive services, nutritious food and opportunities for physical activity. Local organizations, advocacy groups, public institutions and private-sector partners are increasingly working together to address these challenges and connect people with resources where they live.

This collaborative approach was on display in Trenton, New Jersey, where Bristol Myers Squibb (BMS) joined forces with the FIFA World Cup 2026™ New York New Jersey Host Committee, the U.S. Soccer Foundation, the City of Trenton with Mayor Reed Gusciora, and the Trenton Parks & Recreation Department to host the BMS Kickoff for Community Health event, designed to expand access to health resources and strengthen local connections.

The shared goal of the day was profound: making health and wellness resources more accessible to those who need it most. It celebrated the opening of a new mini-pitch, designed as a gift and permanent asset for the city of Trenton and its residents, providing a space for soccer, recreation and community connection for years to come. Families also enjoyed a community health fair with live music, connected with advocacy organizations, received educational health materials, learned about local services and received fresh groceries through a collaboration with Goodr, a social impact company working to address food insecurity across the United States.

More than 27,000 pounds of food—equivalent to approximately 22,500 meals—were distributed to 750 households representing 23 zip codes.

“At its core, health equity is about access and making sure where people live doesn’t determine the opportunity to be healthy,” said Andrew Whitehead, Vice President and Head of Population Health at Bristol Myers Squibb.

Around the world, access to care, health information and essential resources continue to shape health outcomes. The BMS Kickoff for Community Health brought that support directly to Trenton—combining food access, health education and key services in one place, while uniting community organizations, local leaders, advocacy groups and private-sector partners around a shared goal.

The event also left something permanent behind: a new mini-pitch that will continue to serve residents long after the day concluded. The mini-pitch represents a tangible symbol of what becomes possible when collaboration is rooted in the community itself.

This event was made possible through the collaboration of Bristol Myers Squibb, the FIFA World Cup 2026™ New York New Jersey Host Committee, U.S. Soccer Foundation, the City of Trenton with Mayor Reed Gusciora, and the Trenton Parks & Recreation Department.
