Industrial and technology group CSG will participate in a major project to supply modern military equipment to the Latvian Armed Forces. The contractual documentation for the project was signed today. The project includes MORANA artillery systems, multiple rocket launcher systems, with a total value in the hundreds of millions of euros. The prime contractor for the project is TATRA DEFENCE SYSTEMS (TDS), a member of CSG. The project is based on extensive cooperation between the Czech, Slovak and Latvian defence industries, and financing through the European Security Action for Europe (SAFE) instrument is envisaged.

A key component of the project is the MORANA self-propelled howitzer, a joint Czech-Slovak defence industry product developed by CSG company EXCALIBUR ARMY in cooperation with Slovak defence industry partners. Key components are supplied by Slovak industry, including the 155 mm weapon system manufactured by ZŤS ŠPECIÁL. MORANA is a modern artillery system in the NATO-standard 155 mm calibre, mounted on a TATRA FORCE 8×8 chassis. The Latvian government has already decided to acquire Morana systems for the Latvian Armed Forces. According to the Latvian Ministry of Defence, the selection process took into account, among other factors, operational capabilities, costs, delivery schedules and opportunities for local defence industry participation.

In addition to the Morana howitzers, the project also envisages the delivery of multiple-launch rocket systems The use of a common Tatra vehicle platform will provide the Latvian Armed Forces with significant benefits in terms of logistics, maintenance, training and long-term lifecycle support.

A major element of the project is extensive industrial cooperation with the Latvian defence industry and the gradual localisation of production in Latvia. Some of the equipment will be manufactured in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, while other parts of the project are expected to involve manufacturing and final assembly directly in Latvia, supported by Czech and Slovak companies. The project is therefore designed not merely as a supply of military equipment, but as a long-term industrial partnership that will support the development of manufacturing, maintenance and other specialist capabilities within Latvia’s defence industry.

An important part of this cooperation will also be comprehensive maintenance and support for the supplied equipment throughout its entire lifecycle, with extensive involvement of Latvian industrial partners. The objective is to establish the capabilities in Latvia required for the long-term operation, maintenance and servicing of the supplied systems.

Raivis Melnis, Minister of Defence of Latvia, said: “The acquisition of new artillery and supporting systems represents an important step in further strengthening the capabilities of the Latvian Armed Forces. Equally important to us is the extensive involvement of Latvia’s defence industry in the implementation of this project. Our objective is not only to acquire modern military equipment, but also to develop domestic manufacturing, servicing and technological capabilities that will contribute to Latvia’s long-term resilience and security.”

Robert Kaliňák, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the Slovak Republic, said: “This project is a concrete example of how cooperation between European countries and their defence industries can deliver modern capabilities to our armed forces while strengthening Europe’s defence industrial base. The Slovak defence industry will play a significant role in the project and contribute technologically critical components to the systems. I am pleased that the framework established by Slovakia can facilitate broader cooperation with our partners and contribute to strengthening Europe’s defence capabilities.”

“The project for Latvia demonstrates how cooperation between European defence companies can contribute to the rapid strengthening of the capabilities of NATO and European Union member states. It brings together the technological and manufacturing capabilities of the Czech and Slovak defence industries with extensive involvement of Latvian partners. For CSG, it is also important that this is not simply about supplying equipment, but about establishing a long-term industrial partnership. The objective is to build manufacturing and maintenance capabilities in Latvia that will support the supplied equipment throughout its entire lifecycle,” said Jan Marinov, CEO of the CSG Defence Systems division.

Significant Role for the Slovak Defence Industry

The Slovak defence industry will also play an important role in the project, with Slovak companies responsible for some of the technologically critical elements of the systems to be supplied.

In the case of the Morana howitzer, the Slovak defence industry will participate in the supply of the 155 mm weapon system, the production of superstructures and other components, as well as the provision of the fire control system. The involvement of Slovak companies therefore represents a significant part of the project’s industrial supply chain. Internal project plans envisage the participation of Slovak industry specifically in these key areas.

Project Builds on an Existing Framework for European Cooperation

Tatra Defence Systems is the prime contractor for the project and has a framework agreement with the Slovak Ministry of Defence for the supply of Tatra Force military vehicles in a range of variants. The Czech Republic is also in discussions with the Slovak Ministry of Defence about joining this framework agreement. This mechanism enables the development of joint procurement of military equipment with the aim of achieving greater interoperability, a more efficient acquisition process and cooperation in providing lifecycle support for the equipment procured.

The project for Latvia has been designed with the European Security Action for Europe (SAFE) financial instrument in mind. SAFE supports investment by EU Member States in defence capabilities and joint European procurement of military equipment. The structure of the project also makes it possible to use the existing framework for the procurement of vehicles based on the Tatra Force platform.

The combination of the common Tatra platform, artillery and multiple-launch rocket systems, and the industrial capabilities of the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Latvia creates a strong basis for long-term cross-border cooperation within the European defence industry. Extensive involvement of Latvian partners in the manufacturing, assembly, maintenance and lifecycle support of the equipment is one of the key principles underpinning the planned project.

MT Højgaard Holding’s business MT Højgaard Danmark has entered into an agreement to acquire 100% of the shares in the Danish foundation engineering specialist Nordisk Fundering A/S. The purchase price for the shares is DKK 52 million (enterprise value), of which DKK 16 million is an earn-out and thus contingent upon future conditions. The acquisition is subject to approval by competition authorities and is expected to be completed during Q4 2026.

Nordisk Fundering will continue to operate under its own name and leverage its niche expertise within MT Højgaard Danmark, led by its current CEO and co-owner, Jesper Schack Fønss Bach.

Based in Aarhus, Nordisk Fundering has a staff of eight salaried employees and approximately 20 hourly-paid workers, as well as a specialised machinery fleet. In 2025, the company generated revenue of DKK 127 million and an operating profit (EBIT) of DKK 9 million.

“Nordisk Fundering provides access to extensive know-how and equipment that strengthens our business as a whole. We are maintaining Nordisk Fundering as a focused unit responsible for anchor drilling and specialist contracts in the external market where they hold a strong position, while they will also contribute to MT Højgaard Danmark’s own large and complex projects. Nordisk Fundering has a skilled leader and highly competent foundation specialists who will be integrated and work closely with MT Højgaard Danmark’s own foundation team,” says Christian Dyregaard, area manager for foundations at MT Højgaard Danmark.

MT Højgaard Danmark already works closely with Nordisk Fundering on several major infrastructure projects, where the company serves as a key subcontractor.

“I look forward to continuing the work of Nordisk Fundering, but within a larger setup. Our employees know their counterparts at MT Højgaard Danmark well from joint projects, and we share the same values. At the same time, we complement each other very well. Nordisk Fundering is a leader in ground anchors, and both parties are strong and complement each other in secant piling and sheet piling work. So this is the right buyer and a good time for the divestment,” says Jesper Schack Fønss Bach.

Nordisk Fundering has previously had operations in select locations abroad, but that part of the business is being divested in connection with MT Højgaard Danmark’s acquisition of the company.

The acquisition has no effect on MT Højgaard Holding’s expectations for 2026, but it is expected to contribute positively to the Group’s results from 2027 onwards.

LONDON, Sept. 30, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Strategic decisions are becoming harder to execute because the conditions required to deliver them are changing at the same time, according to the latest research by Willis, a WTW business (NASDAQ: WTW). Marking the 20th anniversary of the Willis Research Network (WRN), the report, “The decision advantage”, argues that competitive edge increasingly depends not on predicting the future, but on recognizing changing assumptions early enough to act before options narrow and value is lost. Intangible investment exceeded US$10 trillion in 2025 and investment across major economies could approach US$100 trillion between 2026 and 2030 if current patterns continue.

Drawing on two decades of WRN research, scenario work and practical risk experience, the report argues that organizations are not struggling to make decisions because of a lack of data, forecasts or insight. The challenge is recognizing when changing conditions should alter a strategic decision. AI deployment, electrification, workforce transformation and security-driven growth increasingly compete for the same infrastructure, skills, capital, resources and institutional capacity. Strategic opportunities can remain attractive while becoming harder to realize because the conditions required to deliver them are secured elsewhere first.

The report introduces a pathway to improve decision-making by helping leaders identify changing assumptions, assess what value is at stake, establish thresholds and triggers and generate evidence that actions improve outcomes. It also highlights the importance of assessing not only value that could be lost through disruption, but value that may never be realized because opportunities narrow, capacity becomes constrained or critical resources become unavailable.

Case studies are included in the report, focusing on four strategic decisions many organizations are facing today: AI-enabled growth, electrified growth, security-driven growth and adaptive capacity under pressure. Increasingly, these ambitions compete with each other for the same infrastructure, skills, capital, resources and institutional capacity, and changing conditions can influence whether strategic objectives are realized, delayed or abandoned.

Helene Galy, Managing Director, Willis Research Network said: “The Willis Research Network was established twenty years ago to contribute to the improvement of institutional decision-making, by connecting world-class research to real-world business challenges. This report captures that spirit by bringing together two decades of insight and translating it into a practical framework in a world where risks, opportunities and dependencies are increasingly interconnected.

The next 20 years will not be defined by a single technology, risk or disruption but by the interaction of multiple systems competing for the same infrastructure, resources, skills and capital. As organizations invest trillions of dollars in growth, transformation and resilience, competitive advantage will increasingly come from recognizing changing assumptions before they become constraints.

The organizations that succeed will not necessarily be those that predict the future most accurately. They will be those that create decision advantage by identifying what is changing, understanding what is at stake and acting before opportunities narrow or critical conditions become unavailable.”

About the report

“The decision advantage” builds on insight from 20 years of WRN research and introduces a practical approach for helping leadership teams make better decisions under uncertainty. The report presents a signal-to-action pathway, examines six interconnected systems shaping strategic outcomes, and applies the framework through four case studies that test how major strategic decisions perform under different future conditions.
