Survey finds that 59% of homeowners are concerned that local outages will become more common; 75% worry that growing number of data centers could contribute to future outages

SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 17, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Nearly three in five (59%) Americans are concerned about power outages becoming more common where they live, according to a new survey of 2,000 American homeowners conducted by Talker Research on behalf of Sunrun (Nasdaq: RUN), America’s largest provider of home battery storage, solar, and home-to-grid power plants.

The survey results are being released to coincide with National Preparedness Month, reinforcing this year’s theme of “Americans Stand Ready.” Two-thirds of American homeowners reported already experiencing a power outage in 2026, and nearly three-quarters of those affected said they are worried they’ll experience another within the next year.

“Power outages are no longer something homeowners only think about when a major storm is approaching,” said Sunrun CEO Mary Powell. “Americans are concerned about the availability and reliability of their power supply and are seeking the peace of mind that comes from being prepared with home backup power for when the grid goes down.”

For homeowners who have already experienced an outage this year, their households experienced an average of three outages. And their most recent outage lasted an average of 5.5 hours, although some homeowners reported going without power for days.

Power Outage Reality Check

65% of homeowners surveyed believe power outages will occur the same as they do now or more frequently in the future, compared to just 16% who think they’ll become less frequent. Despite expecting an increased frequency of outages, many Americans are ready to admit just how not ready they are for when the lights go out.

Homeowners rated their “household preparedness” for a power outage at 6.6 out of 10 on average, and nearly half (47%) of homeowners said they have experienced a “power outage reality check” that made them realize they weren’t even close to being prepared.

Skepticism About Grid’s Ability To Meet Demand

Homeowners aren’t necessarily confident the power grid can keep pace with changing electricity demands. 75% are concerned that the growing number of data centers in the U.S. could play a role in future outages.

Adding to their fears about potential future outages, only a third (38%) are confident their local grid can reliably meet increased electricity demand from data centers.

When asked what poses the biggest threat to their area’s power reliability, homeowners overwhelmingly view severe storms as the primary threat. In fact, when combined with winter weather and extreme heat, weather-related events captured more than half of all respondents’ concerns.

48% of those who lost power at their home said they made a change to prepare for the next blackout. In terms of which improvement would make them feel most prepared for the next outage, 47% said a backup power source — the top answer by 18 points.

Power Outage Disruptions

The consequences of power outages go well beyond sitting in the dark. Among those who said they experienced an outage, the greatest disruptions included losing heating or cooling (57%), food spoilage (48%), and losing internet or cell service (44%).

Nearly one-third of homeowners (32%) have even sought shelter at the home of a family member, friend, or neighbor during an outage because that household still had electricity from the grid or a source of backup power.

The stakes were even higher for the 28% of homeowners who said someone in their household relies on electricity for a health-related need.

Among those households, electrically dependent needs included refrigerated prescription medications such as insulin (39%), CPAP machines (36%), oxygen equipment (30%), and medical monitoring devices such as glucose monitors (29%).

“A power outage can quickly become more than an inconvenience when it affects the essentials families rely on every day, from keeping food and medications refrigerated to maintaining a safe temperature at home,” Powell added. “Home battery storage paired with solar can provide greater energy resilience by helping keep critical parts of the home running when the grid goes down.”

Sunrun’s Solution For Families and the Grid

With the power grid aging, demand for electricity rising, and outages becoming more frequent, more and more Americans are seeking energy independence and protection from blackouts and rising energy rates. Serving more than 1.2 million customers nationwide, Sunrun leads the industry with home battery and solar energy systems without any upfront costs, enabling more families to affordably gain energy security.

Homeowners with a Sunrun battery-plus-solar system can comfortably power through extended grid outages without needing gasoline for a noisy generator or worrying about the limited capacity of portable storage devices. Sunrun’s whole-home battery storage capacity allows homeowners to run heating, air conditioning, and large appliances without interruption.

Even when the grid is operating normally, Sunrun’s home batteries empower homeowners to manage peak energy rates and achieve utility bill savings. By drawing daily on their own stored energy generated from their rooftop solar panels, homeowners can reduce the amount of costly energy they consume from the grid.

Sunrun’s unique solution doesn’t just benefit individual households. The battery systems also enable customers to support their local power grid through Sunrun’s distributed power plant programs. Customers are compensated for sharing energy with the grid during peak demand hours, helping control costs and prevent grid emergencies for all residents in their communities.

About Sunrun
Sunrun Inc. (Nasdaq: RUN) is America’s largest provider of home battery storage, solar, and home-to-grid power plants. Chief Revenue Officer Eric Appelman to present Hydrochemolytic™ Technology as a chemical recycling solution for polyolefin-rich waste plastics, with a focus on flexible and multilayer packaging, to PepsiCo global sustainability, packaging, and innovation teams

LONDON, Ontario, Sept. 17, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Aduro Clean Technologies Inc. (“Aduro” or the “Company”) (Nasdaq: ADUR) (TSX: ACT) (FSE: 9D5), a clean technology company using the power of chemistry to transform lower-value feedstocks, like waste plastics, heavy bitumen, and renewable oils, into resources for the 21st century, today announced that it has been invited to present at the second edition of the PepsiCo Sustainability Innovation Hub, taking place September 23, 2026, at Hábitat CDMX in Mexico City.

Highlights

  • Aduro is one of 10 companies invited to participate in the second edition of the PepsiCo Sustainability Innovation Hub on September 23, 2026, at Hábitat CDMX in Mexico City.
  • The event provides direct engagement with PepsiCo teams from LATAM and the broader global organization, including sustainability, packaging, innovation, and related technical and business functions.
  • Eric Appelman, Chief Revenue Officer, will present Hydrochemolytic™ Technology (“HCT”) as a chemical recycling pathway for complex, polyolefin-rich flexible films and multilayer plastic packaging, formats that have limited compatibility with established recycling pathways.
  • Participants are asked to address a defined PepsiCo challenge and present the proposed solution, potential value, economics, scalability, and possible areas for further exploration.
  • The presentation will reference Aduro’s ongoing work with ECOCE in Mexico evaluating representative flexible and multilayer plastic feedstocks. The program is progressing through laboratory-scale HCT testing and, if results support progression, subsequent testing in the Company’s Next Generation Process (“NGP”) Pilot Plant.
  • Technology development continues at Aduro’s NGP Pilot Plant in Canada, with operating data informing the design of the planned 10,000 metric-tonne-per-year first-of-a-kind (“FOAK”) industrial plant at Chemelot in the Netherlands.

The Innovation Hub brings external innovators into direct engagement with PepsiCo teams from LATAM and the broader global organization, including sustainability, packaging, innovation, and related technical and business functions. The event gives PepsiCo teams an opportunity to learn about emerging technologies, exchange perspectives with innovators and explore approaches relevant to packaging and other sustainability challenges.

Eric Appelman, Chief Revenue Officer of Aduro, will present HCT as a chemical recycling solution for polyolefin-rich waste plastics. HCT is being developed to convert polyethylene and polypropylene into hydrocarbon intermediates that can be returned to the plastics value chain and to expand the range of mixed waste streams suitable for chemical recycling.

Within this broader application, the presentation will focus on flexible films, multilayer plastic packaging, and other complex polyolefin-rich streams. These formats are engineered by combining materials to deliver properties such as barrier protection, strength, sealability and product protection. At end of life, however, tightly bonded layers and incompatible materials can make separation and conventional mechanical recycling challenging, affecting process efficiency and recyclate quality.

Aduro will reference its ongoing work with ECOCE in Mexico as technical context for its discussion of flexible and multilayer plastic packaging. ECOCE is a packaging collection and recycling association that includes PepsiCo among its members. The Aduro-ECOCE program is evaluating representative flexible and multilayer plastic feedstocks through laboratory-scale HCT testing and, if results support progression, subsequent testing in the NGP Pilot Plant.

The Innovation Hub format asks participants to address a defined PepsiCo challenge and present the proposed solution, potential value, economics, scalability, and possible areas for further exploration. Aduro will use this framework to present how its ongoing HCT development program applies to polyolefin-rich packaging streams, including the technical considerations for processing these materials and scaling the technology toward industrial application. Any future engagement between Aduro and PepsiCo would be subject to separate evaluation, decision-making and agreement by the parties.

Aduro is advancing HCT through its NGP Pilot Plant in Canada, where operating data are informing the design and development of the planned 10,000 metric-tonne-per-year first-of-a-kind Plant at Chemelot in the Netherlands.

Participation in the Innovation Hub provides Aduro with an opportunity to bring ongoing technical work on complex packaging streams into direct discussion with a major participant in the global packaging value chain. These discussions can provide industry perspectives on technical and commercial requirements that inform the continued development and commercialization of HCT.

“The value of the Innovation Hub is the opportunity to engage directly with PepsiCo teams around a defined packaging challenge,” said Eric Appelman, Chief Revenue Officer of Aduro. “HCT is being developed to address a broad range of polyolefin-rich waste plastics, and this event allows us to discuss how that capability could apply to complex flexible and multilayer packaging with a major participant in the global packaging value chain. Our work with ECOCE provides relevant technical context from representative streams in Mexico. Bringing those perspectives together helps us better understand the technical and commercial requirements that matter to industry as we continue to advance HCT.”

“Advancing circular packaging solutions requires collaboration across the value chain and continued exploration of emerging technologies,” said Carolina Vega, Senior Manager, Circular Economy Packaging & Recycling LATAM at PepsiCo. “The Sustainability Innovation Hub provides an opportunity for PepsiCo teams to engage with innovators, exchange perspectives, and better understand potential approaches to addressing packaging sustainability challenges. We appreciate the participation of organizations that bring diverse ideas and technical expertise to these discussions.”

About Aduro Clean Technologies

QuantumQ Security Advances a Novel “Detect, Encrypt and Verify” Approach

This announcement follows the appointment of former Mossad chief Yossi Cohen as the President of its Scientific Advisory Board who, among other duties, will contribute to QXL’s expansion into the defense and security markets

TEL AVIV, Israel, Sept. 17, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Quantum X Labs Inc. (Nasdaq: QXL) (“Quantum X Labs” or the “Company”), a quantum technology company developing technologies across quantum computing, sensing, simulation and cybersecurity, today announced, that as part of its QuantumQ Security operation, it has launched a multi-dimensional quantum cybersecurity architecture program designed around three complementary security dimensions: Detect, Encrypt and Verify.

This announcement by Quantum X Labs follows the appointment of former Mossad chief Yossi Cohen as the President of its Scientific Advisory Board. Cohen will help shape its strategic direction across quantum computing, quantum error correction, quantum software for clinical trials, quantum cybersecurity and quantum sensing, with a particular focus on expanding the Company’s operations and commercializing its technologies for the defense, aerospace, homeland security and critical infrastructure markets.

The initiative reflects QuantumQ Security’s approach to cybersecurity in the emerging quantum era. While much of the cybersecurity industry is focused on adapting or strengthening classical security methods to address quantum-era threats, QuantumQ Security is pursuing a different technological direction: making the properties of quantum mechanics an integral part of the protection architecture itself.

The architecture currently comprises three technology programs, each at a different stage of research, development, validation and intellectual-property activity. The three dimensions are intended to form a broader security architecture:

  • DETECT– identify anomalous activity and potential attacks.
  • ENCRYPT– protect the confidentiality of information.
  • VERIFY– establish authenticity, integrity and ownership.

Quantum X Labs believes the Detect, Encrypt and Verify combination represents a broader approach to the quantum cybersecurity challenge. Rather than treating quantum computing solely as a new threat requiring modifications to existing cybersecurity infrastructure, QuantumQ Security is investigating how quantum mechanics itself can become part of the security infrastructure.

“Quantum computing is forcing the cybersecurity industry to reconsider some of its most fundamental assumptions,” said Prof. Nir Sharon, Chief Technology Officer of Quantum X Labs. “Our objective with QuantumQ Security is not simply to adapt yesterday’s security architecture to tomorrow’s computers. We are developing technologies across detection, encryption and verification that explore how quantum properties themselves can become part of the protection architecture. LayerQake, Qatacomb and our verification technologies represent three different dimensions of that strategy and, together, our vision for a more comprehensive quantum-native cybersecurity platform.”

The Company noted that the three technology programs are currently at different stages of development and intellectual property submission and protection, and that further theoretical validation, simulation, prototype development and testing may be required before individual technologies or an integrated platform can be commercialized.

Quantum X Labs intends to continue advancing each technology independently while evaluating opportunities to integrate the three dimensions into a unified QuantumQ Security architecture designed for the cybersecurity requirements of the quantum computing era

Following Beam Middle East’s licensing through Masdar City Free Zone, this exploratory agreement aims to advance sustainable mobility and clean‑energy innovation across the UAE. This partnership comes at a time when, according to Strategy& (part of the PWC Network) Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries are targeting green investments and economic transformations in the trillion-dollar range.

“Partnering with Masdar City, a global leader in sustainable urban development, is a major milestone for Beam Global as we expand our footprint in the Middle East,” said Desmond Wheatley, CEO of Beam Global. “Our sustainable mobility, energy storage and smart city solutions are engineered to deploy rapidly without grid constraints, making them a perfect fit for Masdar City’s vision of a clean, resilient, and zero-carbon future while prioritizing sustainability in urban infrastructure and transportation.”

As part of this collaboration, Beam Middle East will introduce and supply advanced energy systems for potential application within the ecosystem, including off‑grid EV charging infrastructure, solar‑integrated e‑bike solutions, and other clean‑energy mobility technologies designed to reduce emissions and expand access to sustainable transportation. These technologies fit naturally into the smart mobility ecosystem fostered by Masdar City Free Zone, particularly within the Smart and Autonomous Vehicle Industries (SAVI) cluster. Established at Masdar City to position Abu Dhabi as a leading hub for advanced transportation, the SAVI cluster provides a progressive regulatory framework and green infrastructure designed to accelerate the evaluation and commercialization of smart transit solutions. Operating within this environment, the Free Zone empowers licensed partners like Beam Middle East to explore how off-grid energy and e-mobility systems can support cleaner, more resilient urban infrastructure.

“For nearly two decades, Masdar City has served as a global benchmark and proven enabler for sustainable urban innovation,” said Dr. Mohamed Al Breiki, Executive Director of Masdar City. “Integrating Beam Global into our Free Zone ecosystem creates a valuable opportunity to explore next-generation mobility and off-grid energy technologies. In alignment with national goals for resilient, high-performance infrastructure, we look forward to evaluating how these innovative solutions can contribute to cleaner, smarter urban environments across the UAE and beyond.”

Mahmoud Al Hosani, Executive Director of Finance and Support Services at Masdar City, added: “Attracting a Nasdaq-listed innovator like Beam Global into the Masdar City Free Zone highlights the strength of our commercial ecosystem and our commitment to providing seamless support services for international clean-tech leaders. By offering a competitive, business-friendly environment backed by robust operational support, we empower high-growth companies to establish a strong regional footprint in Abu Dhabi. We look forward to facilitating Beam Middle East’s growth as we explore sustainable energy solutions within our ecosystem.”

This agreement comes at a time of accelerated climate action across the UAE and the wider region, with countries advancing their commitments under the Paris Agreement and working towards long-term net-zero targets. The UAE’s Net Zero by 2050 Strategy provides a framework for decarbonization across key sectors including power, industry, transport and buildings, creating further opportunities for innovative private-sector solutions. Together, Beam Middle East and Masdar City Free Zone reaffirm their dedication to supporting the UAE’s sustainability agenda and exploring new opportunities fora cleaner, smarter, and more energy‑efficient future for generations to come.

Summary:

  • Profit before value adjustments and tax came to DKK 146 million for the period, down by DKK 192 million on the same period last year.
  • Net interest income came to DKK 250 million for the first half of 2026, which is DKK 118 million lower than for the same period last year.
  • Comprehensive income was DKK 262 million for the period compared to DKK -139 million for the same period last year.
  • Net lending amounted to DKK 6.4 billion for the first half of 2026 versus DKK 1.3 billion for the same period last year. The value of total loans and leases was up by DKK 7.5 billion to DKK 207.2 billion during the first half of 2026.
  • Common Equity Tier 1 (CET1) capital, which corresponds to equity, rose from DKK 10,099 million at end-2025 to DKK 10,361 million.

Since 1899, KommuneKredit has provided funding to municipalities and regions in Denmark by issuing bonds in the capital markets. That funding model was changed on 26 March 2025 and implemented in the Act on KommuneKredit (KommuneKredit-loven) with effect from 15 September 2026. The Danish State buys KommuneKredit’s bonds at interest rates corresponding to the State’s own funding costs. The new funding model has resulted in lower lending rates and lease payments since 1 April 2025 and, when fully phased in, the model is expected to create annual savings of up to DKK 1 billion for the Danish society, savings that will ultimately benefit Danish citizens and taxpayers.

Interim results impacted by lower interest rate margin
Profit before value adjustments and tax came to DKK 146 million for the first half of 2026 compared to DKK 338 million for the same period last year. The decline mainly reflects lower net interest income and a positive effect on profit of the sale of KommuneKredit’s properties at Kultorvet, Copenhagen, in the first half of 2025. The lower interest rate margin has resulted in a reduction of net interest income, which came to DKK 250 million for the first half of 2026 compared to DKK 368 million for the same period last year. At the same time, the recent interest rate margin decline in May has contributed to positive value adjustments of financial instruments of DKK 190 million for the period. As a result, comprehensive income came to DKK 262 million for the period and is transferred to equity in its entirety, resulting in equity of DKK 10,361 million. At 30 June 2026, the equity ratio was 4.2 per cent, which is above the Board of Directors’ target of an equity ratio of at least 3 per cent.

High lending activity in the first half of 2026
Net lending, i.e. new loans and leases less repayments and redemptions, amounted to DKK 6.4 billion for the first half of 2026 versus DKK 1.3 billion for the same period last year. Net lending was DKK 0.9 billion ahead of expectations, and at 30 June 2026, the value of total loans and leases was DKK 207.2 billion.

Outlook
With net interest income of DKK 250 million for the first half of 2026, we maintain our expectation of net interest income of DKK 500 million for the full year 2026. As a result of the higher-than-expected net lending in the first half of 2026, we have upgraded our expectation for net lending for the full year 2026 from DKK 5.5 billion to DKK 6.5 billion. The upward adjustment allows for known repayments and expected lower lending activity in the second half of 2026 following the high activity level in the first half of the year. Our expectation for administrative expenses is unchanged at DKK 225 million. Accordingly, we still expect profit for the year before value adjustments and tax to total DKK 275 million.

KING CITY, Ontario, Sept. 17, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — TWC Enterprises Limited (“TWC”) today announced that the Toronto Stock Exchange (the “TSX”) has accepted a notice filed by TWC of its intention to make a normal course issuer bid through the facilities of the TSX or alternative Canadian trading systems.

The notice provides that TWC may, during the twelve-month period commencing September 20, 2026 and ending September 19, 2027 purchase up to 1,205,556 common shares (“Common Shares”) in total, being approximately 5% of the issued and outstanding Common Shares. The price that TWC will pay for any such Common Shares will be the market price at the time of acquisition. Management of TWC will determine the actual number of Common Shares that may be purchased and the timing of any such purchases.

Under the current normal course issuer bid due to expire September 19, 2026, TWC sought to purchase up to 1,208,438 common shares through the facilities of the TSX or alternative Canadian trading systems. TWC purchased 70,500 Common Shares for cancellation under this bid at an average cost per share of $25.69. As of September 10, 2026, there were 24,111,121 Common Shares outstanding. TWC average daily trading volume for the prior six months is 1,359. Daily purchases will be limited to 1,000 common shares, other than block purchase exceptions.

TWC believes that its Common Shares have been trading in price ranges which do not adequately reflect their value in relation to the business of TWC and its future business prospects. As a result, depending upon future price movements and other factors, TWC believes that its outstanding Common Shares may represent an attractive investment. Furthermore, the purchases are expected to benefit all persons who continue to hold Common Shares by increasing their proportionate interest in TWC. All Common Shares purchased by TWC under the normal course issuer bid will be cancelled.

Corporate Profile

TWC is engaged in golf club operations under the trademark, “ClubLink One Membership More Golf.” TWC is Canada’s largest owner, operator and manager of golf clubs with 46 18-hole equivalent championship and 2.5 18-hole equivalent academy courses (including three managed properties) at 34 locations in Ontario, Quebec and Florida.
