Precision pollination leader also unveils company impact on pollinator protection and agricultural sustainability in honor of World Bee Day

FRESNO, Calif. , May 19, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — BeeHero, the global leader of data-driven precision pollination, today announced the launch of its Beekeeping Task Manager tool to provide beekeepers with more effective and larger-scale apiary management, in honor of World Bee Day. BeeHero also released new data about its growing impact on pollinator health, effective pollination, and sustainable agriculture, in support of beekeepers, growers, and the wider agricultural industry.

The new Beekeeping Task Manager helps beekeepers plan, assign, and track daily tasks with greater efficiency. Accessible via web and mobile apps, the tool enables seamless coordination of field visits and real-time updates to field teams. The mobile app also features offline pollination actions to allow beekeepers to log deployments in remote orchards with limited cell coverage and then sync when phones return online. This feature is especially critical for commercial agriculture regions with low coverage, such as in Australia, where the upcoming almond pollination is set to begin in August.

The new tool comes as bees are experiencing an ongoing crisis. Over 75% of global food crops rely on pollinators, but US bee colony losses soared to an unprecedented 60-70% this past winter, threatening beekeepers’ livelihoods, growers’ crop yields, and the global food supply. However, BeeHero’s data shows that in that timeframe, BeeHero-supported hives experienced significantly lower mortality rates around 30%. The difference amounts collectively to over 2 billion bees saved by using BeeHero-monitored hives. Additionally, BeeHero enabled more efficient pollination using fewer, stronger hives, thus preventing  1,313 tons of CO₂ emissions through reduced colony transport.

“At a time when bees are under unprecedented pressure, we’re proud to protect these crucial pollinators. Together with our valued beekeeper and grower partners, we are demonstrating that data-driven apiary management and pollination is better for all—bees, the global food supply, and the planet,” said Omer Davidi, CEO and Co-Founder of BeeHero. “Our team continues to work tirelessly to massively scale the world’s largest pollination network we’ve built, supported by our proprietary, never-before-possible infrastructure. With stronger, healthier hives and real-time, AI-powered insights, we’re helping to champion hardworking beekeepers and growers around the world and transforming pollination into a scalable, sustainable solution to global food and climate challenges.”

BeeHero’s solutions utilize proprietary, low-cost IoT sensors placed in hives and in fields to monitor bee health, activity, and environmental conditions in real time. This data is then analyzed by the company’s AI and machine learning, delivering beekeepers and growers actionable insights into colony health, pollination efficiency, and stress factors that enable them to make data-based decisions to improve bee welfare and boost crop yield and quality. With over 300K hives monitored across the globe collecting over 25M daily data samples, BeeHero is the world’s largest provider of precision pollination.

BeeHero’s impact since the last World Bee Day was amplified by the rollout of new, next-generation precision pollination tools, including the company’s Pollination Insight Platform (PIP 2.0), an in-field sensing solution offering real-time pollination heat maps, multi-pollinator detection, and a resilient, weatherproof design, and HeroLink, a solar-powered field gateway with an industry-first multi-frequency antenna capable of reliably transmitting data even in the most remote, signal-starved agricultural regions. The company also recently launched the Global Million Hive Network aiming to address alarming bee declines by expanding smart hive monitoring, advancing research, and encouraging cross-collaboration between industry stakeholders.

Q: How would you describe Griffith Foods’ Progress on Sustainability?

A. We’ve built strong momentum. I’m very proud of all our Griffith Foods’ team members worldwide that have driven the progress we annually report. It is a holistic, cross-functional and sometimes messy effort that touches all corners of our business. Since sharing our Foundational Goals in 2020, we’ve embedded sustainability across our operations and have integrated goals into four core functions: manufacturing, purchasing, research & development, and human resources.

The teams embraced the challenge, implemented new processes, tools, and cross-functional ways of working to turn ambition into action. As we shift from our Foundational Goals to the 2030 Aspirations phase, we expand to all functions and are grounded in the progress we’ve made and energized by what’s ahead. With the right people, plans, and mindset in place, we’re well-positioned to drive meaningful, long-term impact.

Q: How do you build sustainability knowledge throughout Griffith Foods?

A. Our people will drive achievement of our Aspirations. We are investing in them to ensure they have the knowledge, capabilities and tools to deliver sustainable and regenerative transformation. This includes in-person and online learning and development, prioritizing personal growth plans, and updating all functional capabilities to include sustainability. We also expanded technical expertise and evolved existing jobs and responsibilities to be accountable for sustainability, not only those in the sustainability function. We’ve expanded career pathways and capabilities in areas like climate, human rights, product carbon foot-printing, nutrition, sustainable sourcing, alternative proteins, and impact reporting.

In 2024, we started rolling out sustainability courses through WBCSD’s Academy and launched a custom curriculum for customer-facing teams. We also created bundles of sustainability learning courses through LinkedIn Learning® and will soon begin manufacturing-focused upskilling via ISO 14001 implementation and custom huddle trainings. It’s all part of fostering a culture of continuous learning, inclusion, and shared purpose.

Q: Where do you see headwinds?

A. The global challenges —climate change, biodiversity loss, water scarcity, growing inequality, human rights risks, and providing diverse and inclusive work environments for all—are complex and evolving. Rather than obstacles, at Griffith Foods, we view them as powerful opportunities to drive positive change. They inspire us to innovate, collaborate, lead with our values, and continue with more urgency on our journey to Blend Care and Creativity to Nourish the World™. By embracing these challenges, we future proof and grow our business, drive product innovation with our customers, partner with suppliers and farmers to scale regenerative farming, uplift our people, and contribute to thriving communities for all.

Q: Looking ahead, what’s next for Griffith Foods’ sustainability strategy?

A. To scale, we must more quickly identify and build resilient partnerships and ecosystems with like-minded partners. Central to our product portfolio transformation is the roll out of an improved innovation process that has nutrition and sustainability built in. This will provide more sustainable, nutritious, and delicious products for our customers, and support the adoption of alternative proteins. Finally, people will remain at the center of our work to implement new business models to deliver affordable and accessible nutrition for all and our net-zero road map, so that no one is left behind in the transition to a lower carbon world.

We believe food can nourish people and the planet. Our 2030 Aspirations provide the path forward, one that centers on innovation, resilience, and diverse perspectives to create a sustainable food system where everyone can thrive.

GLASGOW, Scotland, May 19, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Star Refrigeration will be taking part in the upcoming UK Real Estate Investment and Infrastructure Forum (UKREiiF) in Leeds from 20th – 22nd May 2025, with a focus on large-scale renewable district heating and the central role of river-source heat pumps in the UK’s decarbonisation strategy.

Prof. Dave Pearson, Director of Sustainable Development at Star Refrigeration, will join a panel discussion alongside Nick Gosling, Group Sales and Strategy Director at Vital Energi, a long-standing Star customer and collaborator. During the session ‘City-Wide Clean Heat: A Real Estate ESG Saviour or an Investment Pipe Dream?‘ which will take place on 21st May from 12:45 pm – 1:45 pm, they will explore the pivotal role that river source heat pumps and district heating networks play in achieving Net Zero goals -particularly for cities and large-scale developments.

The panel will explain in detail the importance of heat networks as an alternative to gas heating, and how developers can future-proof new buildings while supporting government ambitions. With investment potential estimated between £60 billion and £80 billion by 2050, heat networks represent a major opportunity for decarbonisation through the construction of high-value, long-term assets. However, with less than 3% of UK heat currently supplied by heat networks, the pace of deployment must accelerate significantly to meet the government’s 20% target by 2050.

“To stay on track, the rollout of heat networks across cities and large-scale developments must at least quadruple within the next five years”, said Prof. Pearson. “The expectation for large buildings to integrate clean energy is only growing, and district heating powered by clean water source heat pumps, is no longer a concept for the future. It’s a proven, high-value solution that’s ready to deliver today.”

The collaboration between Star Refrigeration and Vital Energi has already delivered some of the most innovative and technically challenging district heating projects in the UK, demonstrating the potential of public-private partnerships for city-scale decarbonisation. These include the 5.2MW twin water source heat pumps at Queens Quay in Clydebank, a 3MW installation at Castle Park in Bristol, and the ongoing £2.5m Mersey Heat project in Liverpool, where heat is being extracted from the Leeds-Liverpool Canal to serve a new 6km heat network.

These projects, designed and delivered by Vital Energi with engineering and heat pump technology support from Star Refrigeration, demonstrate how government-backed, large-scale low carbon infrastructure can drive real progress in the UK’s heating transition while aiding economic growth for local communities and investors. Each has received recognition from the European Heat Pump Association, marking them as exceptional in terms of scale, environmental impact, and technological soundness.

Prof. Pearson said, “This event is an opportunity to show that the shift away from gas is not just possible: it’s already happening. By working with partners like Vital Energi, we’re proving that river source heat pump technology is ready to meet the needs of urban infrastructure at scale.

“Sustainable buildings are now seen as lower risk, more resilient, and capable of commanding higher prices and better financing terms. With the market shifting, we see a clear opportunity to collaborate with developers to accelerate decarbonisation projects and help stakeholders avoid the looming ‘ESG meltdown’.

If we get it right, clean heat won’t just reduce emissions – it will improve asset value, investor confidence and public health”.

UKREiiF 2025 is a must-attend real estate, property, and infrastructure event taking place in Leeds from 20–22 May at the Royal Armouries Museum and New Dock. Over 16,000 professionals from government, investment, development, and the wider built environment will gather to drive investment and regeneration across the UK’s regions. Attendees of the session will also receive a complimentary “grab bag” lunch.

On April 25, during the Month of the Military Child, the Paramount Veterans Network teamed up with the Nickelodeon Community Efforts team to host another virtual Let’s Draw event for the Wounded Warrior Project and their families, this time with their favorite Nick artist and Marine Corps veteran, Jeff Sornig.

Jeff Sornig guided the kids through drawing their favorite Nickelodeon characters, including SpongeBob. To kick things off, we aired a short episode of SpongeBob SquarePants featuring the song “Best Day Ever.” One child even chimed in, saying April 25th really was the best day ever, especially because he didn’t have to wear a jacket (Sunny Day!), which drew laughter from everyone. The day wrapped up with the kids proudly sharing their amazing drawings. As a parting gift, Jeff created a custom coloring page just for them, which was sent out after the event.

“This event was pure joy. The kids didn’t just draw their favorite Nickelodeon characters, they owned it! What really struck me, though, was how engaged the families were when Jeff shared his journey from the Marine Corps to becoming a Nickelodeon artist. You could see how much it meant to them to connect with someone who shares the same background and is now living their dream, doing something so fun and creative. The smiles, the laughs, the connection, and the inspiration shared at the event reminded us why we do what we do. Huge thanks to WWP, NiCE, and the always-inspiring Jeff for making it truly unforgettable… “and the Best Day Ever!” said Betty Diaz, Paramount Veterans Network.

On May 6, 2025, 45 students from Southwire’s 12 for Life program in Carrollton, Ga., celebrated their high school graduation and completion of the program. The commencement ceremony, marking the program’s 18th year, was attended by Southwire leaders, local school officials and students’ loved ones.

12 for Life is a collaborative partnership between Southwire and local school systems in Carrollton, Ga., and Florence, Ala. The initiative offers classroom instruction, on-the-job training, essential work and life skills, mentoring, and employment opportunities.

Established in 2007, the 12 for Life program seeks to encourage students to stay in school, attain their diplomas and develop into successful members of their communities. The overarching goal for all participants is to complete the program and graduate high school, with a clear path towards employment, higher education or military enlistment. To date, more than 2,500 students have graduated from 12 for Life.

“It’s an honor to recognize all of the school systems who have come together with Southwire, who for years has contributed time, resources, and energy to help these students be successful,” said Scott Cowart, Superintendent for Carroll County Schools.

Seven graduates were awarded the Southwire SkillPointe Scholarship at the ceremony, each valued at $10,000. Now in its second year, this scholarship program is the result of the ongoing partnership between Southwire and the SkillPointe Foundation, a national nonprofit dedicated to innovative scholarship solutions. To be eligible for the award, students must be on track to graduate high school and have plans to enroll in a higher (secondary) education program, community college, technical school or vocational program within one year of graduating.

“Being a part of 12 for Life has helped me come out of my shell,” said Edwin Diaz, 2025 graduate from Bowdon High School and recipient of the Skillpointe Scholarship. “Through meaningful work and the opportunity to set and achieve goals, I’ve gained a strong sense of self-worth and pride in what I can accomplish.”

This year’s commencement featured a special keynote speaker. In honor of the company’s 75th anniversary, the commencement address was delivered by Nancy Richards Farese, noted photographer, artist, writer and social entrepreneur. Farese, the daughter of Southwire’s founder Roy Richards Sr., also serves as a Southwire board member.

“My hope is that you leave today more aware of what was important to you as a five-year-old child,” said Farese in her address to the graduates. “That kid is still you, and what was important to you then is still important to you now. This is the core of who you are; hold on to it, build on it and let it inform how you view the world.”

The Carrollton, Ga. Commencement marks the first of two graduation ceremonies for 12 for Life. A second ceremony for Florence, Ala. 12 for Life students will take place later this month.
