The NDC Partnership launched an interactive online tool — the Climate Investment Planning and Mobilization Framework that prepares countries to unlock and channel climate finance.

WASHINGTON, May 7, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — With input and expertise from 115 countries, implementing partners and public and private finance institutions, the NDC Partnership launched the “Climate Investment Planning and Mobilization Framework” (CIPMF) online tool designed to help countries unlock and channel climate finance.

The NDC Partnership launched an interactive online tool, the Climate Investment Planning and Mobilization Framework.

As countries develop climate pledges, or Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), this year, they aim to rapidly transition from planning to implementing their priority actions. Yet, insufficient access to climate finance remains a chief constraint — compounded by recent shifts in the financing landscape. In this context, countries will need clear investment plans to inform conversations with financiers and investors.

NDC Partnership Global Director Pablo Vieira: “The climate finance landscape is complex and fragmented, making it difficult for countries to access and effectively leverage available resources. To translate their climate goals into clear plans and bankable projects, countries must be prepared to strategically engage financial actors. This requires a clear understanding of where gaps exist in national climate finance knowledge, capacity and planning — and a coordinated effort to close them, unlocking access to public, private and blended finance.”

The CIPMF is built on the premise that countries will need to align the whole-of-government, including planning and finance ministries, national development banks, central banks and the private sector to expand the amount, quality and impact of financing available. With this tool, and NDC Partnership support, countries can clearly articulate their priorities and needs to technical partners, financiers and investors.

The climate finance gap is evidenced by country requests for support to the NDC Partnership, a global coalition of more than 240 countries and institutions. Finance is the most frequently requested type of support to the NDC Partnership, with 90% of developing countries requesting some form of finance-related support from across its membership.

In response to country demand for finance support, the NDC Partnership and Green Climate Fund (GCF) launched a working draft of the CIPMF in 2023 at COP28 in Dubai with input from a range of actors, including private and public institutions and country representatives. By creating a common reference point, the guide supported countries to navigate the complexities of climate investment and strategically mobilize investments to achieve their climate objectives.

Building on this guidance, the CIPMF online tool is a first-of-its kind resource that outlines six key stages across the climate investment planning and resource mobilization process.

Learn more and access the new tool here.

More About the Climate Investment Planning and Mobilization Framework Online Tool

Allowing flexible user-entry points for countries at different stages of the finance planning process, the CIPMF enables countries to identify climate finance needs and gaps, develop finance strategies and project plans and map support providers and finance opportunities — tailored to their national contexts.

The CIPMF promotes evidence-based decision-making in response to country-stated needs, including via specialized supplements around key thematic priorities.

About the NDC Partnership

The NDC Partnership is a global coalition, bringing together more than 240 members, including more than 130 countries, developed and developing, and more than 100 institutions to deliver on ambitious, transformational climate action that helps achieve the Paris Agreement and drive sustainable development.

Thanks4Gaming unites players, streamers, and brands to support global nonprofits, powered by Change’s seamless compliance and donation infrastructure.

SAN FRANCISCO, May 7, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — XTREAMsolutions has partnered with Change to power Thanks4Gaming, a global initiative that unites the gaming community in support of charity. By leveraging Change’s donor-advised fund model and compliance expertise, XTREAMsolutions has streamlined the legal complexities of launching a large-scale fundraising campaign, allowing them to focus on engaging gamers worldwide.

With commercial co-venture (CCV) laws and other state regulations governing charitable fundraising, launching a campaign of this scale requires careful legal compliance. XTREAMsolutions partnered with Change to register as a CCV and structure donations through Change’s partner donor-advised fund, Our Change Foundation. This approach simplifies compliance and ensures that donations reach nonprofits efficiently and transparently.

“Gaming is one of the most powerful communities in the world, and Thanks4Gaming is proof that when gamers come together, they can create real change,” said Don Johnson, CEO of XTREAMsolutions. “We knew compliance was a critical piece of making this happen at a global scale. Change has been an invaluable partner, handling the legal and operational complexities so we can focus on making Thanks4Gaming the most impactful event yet.”

Thanks4Gaming brings together gamers, publishers, influencers, and sponsors to raise funds for two nonprofit organizations: Whale and Dolphin Conservation and the Global Gift Foundation of America. Launching May 9, the campaign will feature a curated selection of iconic and classic games, with proceeds benefiting the two global nonprofits.

The event will also be promoted and available on two of Roblox’s most popular games: SpongeBob Defense Tower and Highland Park RP. Streamers, sponsors, and game partners will help drive engagement, encouraging players to give back while doing what they love. Over the past five years, this formula has raised more than $12.5 million for charity. By combining legal compliance with strategic marketing and gaming relationships, this proven approach continues to scale in reach and impact.

By handling the legal and donation infrastructure, Change enables companies like XTREAMsolutions to run large-scale, legally compliant campaigns without the burden of regulatory roadblocks. Through its Donations API, unique donor-advised fund model, and easy-to-use dashboard, Change helps XTREAMsolutions bring the Thanks4Gaming campaign to life with confidence and efficiency.

  • RWE recently commissioned six renewable energy projects totaling 999 MW operating capacity, supporting greater grid reliability and energy security
  • RWE adds one new wind farm, one repowered wind farm, three new solar projects and one standalone battery energy storage project across four different states, including its first operational project in Arkansas
  • The six renewable energy projects brought more than 1,400 jobs during construction to local areas and will generate more than $130 million in local tax revenue over their operating lifetimes

AUSTIN, Texas, May 7, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — RWE, the third largest renewable energy company in the U.S., has expanded its growing operational asset base by completing six projects in recent months with a combined capacity of 999 megawatts (MW). The projects include one new wind farm, one repowered wind farm, three new solar installations and one standalone battery energy storage system (BESS) across four states. The newly completed projects strengthen U.S. energy infrastructure and independence, and will be capable of producing enough electricity to power the equivalent of more than 177,000 homes and businesses nationwide.

Andrew Flanagan, CEO, RWE Clean Energy: “RWE is meeting growing demand by providing homegrown energy and advancing U.S. energy leadership with six completed clean energy assets. These projects advance domestic energy security nationwide, while stimulating local economic growth and creating energy sector jobs. As we move forward, we’ll continue to help meet the rising energy demand across the U.S.”

The newly operating assets include an expansion of the Westside Canal Complex, adding a 119 MW (476 MWh) 4-hour battery energy storage project located in Imperial County, California. As the second phase of the Westside Canal Complex, which provided 160 construction jobs, it increases the total capacity to 250 MW (1,000 MWh). This addition strengthens California’s energy resilience, supporting reliability and the grid. It will also support local economic growth contributing an estimated $20 million in property tax revenue over the project’s 20-year lifetime.

RWE completed three projects in Texas, including a 300 MW solar project in Goliad, Texas called Peregrine Solar. The project team’s efficient work enabled the project to safely commission 300 MW in 15 days. This project provided critical economic benefits and local employment of 250 workers during its construction phase. Additionally, RWE’s project will provide a community benefit that will generate over $180,000 per year for local jurisdictions throughout the project’s lifetime.

Peyton Creek II, a 243 MW wind project in Bay City, Texas, was recently commissioned, bringing the total generating capacity of the Peyton Creek Complex to 394 MW. Peyton Creek II created approximately 250 jobs during construction, with the full Peyton Creek Complex now supporting 20 full-time local jobs in operation and adding approximately $60 million to the local tax revenue in Matagorda County over the project’s lifetime.

Also in Texas, RWE has completed commissioning of the repowered Champion Wind project, a 127 MW wind farm in Nolan and Mitchell counties, Texas. Originally commissioned in 2008, RWE extended the project lifetime for an additional 20 years, ensuring continued support for the local community and generating approximately $31 million in tax revenue over the project’s lifetime. During construction, the project provided more than 200 local jobs.

Marking RWE’s first operational project in Arkansas, Quartz Solar, is a 135 MW solar project in Cross County, bringing new economic opportunities and added workforce in the state during a time of exponential power demand as data centers and manufacturing surge. The project supported 300 jobs at peak construction and will support additional permanent jobs during operation. Notably, Quartz Solar will provide $12.5 million in property tax revenue during its operating lifetime.

In Virginia, RWE’s 75 MW Wythe County Solar is now operational and is contributing to the region’s power supply. The project employed more than 300 workers during peak construction and sourced locally for services during construction such as water, dumpsters, sanitary services, rental equipment and more. It will also add around $7 million in property tax revenue over the lifetime of the project. This project aligns with Virginia’s “all of the above” energy strategy and helps meet growing energy demands.

Generating Impact in the U.S.
The commissioning of nearly 1 gigawatt of clean energy assets is providing American-made energy to the local grid and provides thousands of jobs, many of which are locally sourced. From coast to coast, these projects provide reliable and affordable power capacity.

Star Jones, award winning television personality & women’s heart health advocate, helps kick off heart health conversations this Mother’s Day with the Medtronic ‘Letter to My Mother’ campaign

GALWAY, Ireland, May 7, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — A new Medtronic-sponsored survey of women ages 30-50 reveals a significant gap in awareness and discussion around heart health among women and their mother-figures. Despite cardiovascular disease being the #1 killer of women in the U.S., many women are still unaware of the risk and the importance of heart health.

The survey, endorsed by WomenHeart and conducted by Wakefield Research, found that nearly half of women (45%) were more likely to discuss sensitive topics such as politics, money, or relationships with their mother or grandmother before discussing family heart health history, despite the fact that as much as half of the risk for heart disease is hereditary.

For more than a century, heart disease has remained the leading cause of death in women, accounting for more deaths than all cancers combined. Yet, when it comes to serious heart concerns, women are up to 35% less likely to be treated with proven, minimally invasive solutions for heart valve failure than men, and women account for more than half (52%) of deaths caused by high blood pressure.1 Additionally, women often experience heart attack symptoms differently, and heart disease disproportionately impacts women of color, with 43% of Hispanic women and 59% of Black women experiencing some form of cardiovascular disease.

The Medtronic Letter to My Mother campaign encourages women to make heart health a priority, starting with a conversation with their mother, or a woman in their life, about family history, risk factors, and the signs and symptoms of heart disease. The campaign, part of the company’s ongoing commitment to leading and advancing clinical research for women’s health, seeks to close the gap in awareness of heart disease and risks—particularly heart valve failure and high blood pressure—in women.

“The U.S. is at a tipping point when it comes to women’s health, and heart health remains the deadliest concern of all,” said Nina Goodheart, senior vice president and president, Structural Heart & Aortic, which is part of the Cardiovascular Portfolio at Medtronic. “At Medtronic, we’re working relentlessly to ensure women receive personalized, evidence-based healthcare solutions, tailored to them. The launch of Letter to My Mother marks another step in our sustained commitment to improving health outcomes for all.”

Results from the survey reveal a surprising disconnect between what women fear for their mothers or mother-figures as they age and the actual conversations happening around family health history:

  • More than half of women (53%) worry that as their mothers age, they will ignore symptoms or fail to inform them when something is wrong.
  • Yet, over half (56%) admit they have never discussed heart health with their mothers or other women in their family.
  • For those with a family history of heart disease, only one-third (35%) asked their doctor to assess their heart risk.
  • Only 44% of these same women actually talked about it with their mothers or mother-figures.

“As women, we are our own best advocates, but without the confidence, knowledge, or resources to discuss our health history, we are missing out on potential life-saving conversations,” said Star Jones, attorney, award-winning television personality & longtime women’s heart health advocate. “I come from a family with a long history of heart disease, yet this was rarely a topic we talked about. If only I had acknowledged my risk for heart disease earlier, I could’ve potentially addressed my concerns with my cardiologist sooner before it led to needing open-heart surgery. That is why I am speaking out now to get all women talking about this disease and how addressing symptoms could save their life – like it did for me.”

The survey also revealed that personal heart health is often overlooked by women in the sandwich generation, the population of women who bear the weight of making healthcare decisions for their children, parents, and family members. Almost all (94%) of women surveyed are responsible for making health-related decisions for loved ones, but over 60% of women find it hard to make their own health a priority.

“As physicians, we know heart health is not one size fits all. Women have a unique experience with heart disease and risk factors – like high blood pressure during pregnancy which may be the first sign of chronic high blood pressure persisting throughout their lifespan,” said Dr. Raven Voora, hypertension specialist and nephrologist at UNC Health. “Too often, I’ve seen women present with risk factors or early signs of heart disease that they put on the backburner behind care for children and loved ones – or these signs and symptoms get brushed off as stress or anxiety. This survey shows us that patients need increased awareness and discussion surrounding heart health and to make sure they pay attention to their heart health.”

This May, during Women’s Health Month and timed to Mother’s Day – Medtronic encourages people to take the pledge to talk to their mother or the women in their life about heart health today. For every pledge, Medtronic will make a donation to a cause that advances women’s heart health.

About the Medtronic Letter to My Mother Survey:
Medtronic engaged Wakefield Research to conduct a nationally representative survey to gain insights into consumer perceptions and awareness of heart disease in women aged 30 through 50, targeted to the “daughters” who are sandwiched between taking care of their health, their children and parents. The survey was deployed among 1,000 U.S. women, ages 30 to 50, with a living mother and a living child, between March 13th and March 17th, 2025, using an email invitation and an online survey.

Survey results are endorsed by WomenHeart: The National Coalition for Women with Heart Disease, the nation’s leading voice for women living with or at risk of heart disease. WomenHeart is dedicated to promoting awareness, advocacy, and support for women with heart disease, empowering them to take charge of their heart health and improve outcomes.

About the Medtronic Letter to My Mother Campaign:
The Medtronic “Letter to My Mother” campaign aims to educate and close the gap in awareness of heart disease in women — the number one cause of death for more than a century. The campaign encourages people to start conversations with their mothers and loved ones about heart disease, including high blood pressure and heart valve failure, to better understand their family health history and risk factors. The campaign is part of the company’s ongoing commitment to leading and advancing clinical research for women’s health and was supported by the Medtronic Coronary & Renal Denervation and Structural Heart & Aortic businesses. The program empowers senior executives with strategic insights and governance skills to excel in board roles and drive organizational success.

ANN ARBOR, Mich., May 7, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — The Stephen M. Ross School of Business Executive Education at the University of Michigan, in collaboration with Emeritus, has launched the Board Director Program. This five-month immersive program is uniquely designed to serve both first-time and experienced board members with a comprehensive, future-focused curriculum that goes beyond traditional lecture-based learning. Unlike many peer offerings that are restricted by experience level, heavily theoretical, or narrowly focused, the Board Director Program integrates digital and AI governance, real-world simulations, and a balanced emphasis on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues, ethics, and stakeholder activism — preparing leaders to navigate modern boardroom challenges with strategic insight and confidence. Enrollment is now open for the program, which begins on June 30, 2025.

According to PwC, 64 percent of corporate directors say their strategy is now tied to ESG issues, and 63 percent believe their board could be more impactful by anticipating disruption better. The Board Director Program addresses this need by empowering leaders with the skills to navigate boardroom dynamics, uphold regulatory compliance, and drive sustainable growth strategies.

“Board members must possess a combination of strategic insights, governance expertise, and ethical frameworks to effectively steer organizations forward,” says Mike Barger, faculty director of the Board Director Program and assistant clinical professor of business administration at Michigan Ross. “Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of corporate governance, financial acumen, and ESG initiatives, preparing them to step up to this critical role with confidence.”

The Board Director Program blends live online sessions with an immersive five-day on-campus module at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI. Participants will engage in interactive discussions led by world-renowned faculty and seasoned board members while analyzing real-world case studies and refining their decision-making skills through hands-on simulations. Upon completion, participants will be awarded a verified digital certificate from Michigan Ross Executive Education.

“The Board Director Program prepares executives to make informed decisions that align with organizational goals, stakeholder expectations, and evolving business trends. This skill set is more important than ever with rapidly changing market and regulatory conditions,” says Mike Malefakis, president of university partnerships at Emeritus. “We are excited to collaborate with Michigan Ross Executive Education to deliver this innovative program.”
