The new integration empowers companies to prepare for upcoming European Union regulations faster and more cost-effectively

BERLIN, May 27, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Productsup, a leading enterprise feed management and syndication platform, together with Protokol, a leading Digital Product Passport (DPP) solutions provider, today announced a new partnership enabling companies to create DPPs from existing product data to prepare for the EU’s upcoming Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR). The collaboration offers a direct integration between the two platforms, enabling businesses to leverage their optimized product data to create Digital Product Passports effortlessly.

As the ESPR will mandate the implementation of DPPs across several industries and product groups — for businesses placing products in the EU market, regardless of where they’re manufactured — the partnership supports all businesses now navigating these new requirements.

“Gathering product data to create DPPs is often a significant undertaking for companies, requiring teams to source information from disparate sources and systems, organize and standardize the data in various formats, and make it readily available to the right stakeholders,” said Lars Rensing, CEO at Protokol. “The beauty of our partnership with Productsup is that companies seeking to create DPPs can simply utilize their existing product data, both from the Productsup platform and imported from external sources. It reduces the burden of gathering and organizing that data in line with EU DPP requirements, so you achieve compliance faster without rework or disruption, saving time and minimizing errors.”

The EU’s DPP mandate, part of the broader Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR), aims to boost product traceability, sustainability, and circularity across industries. Starting in 2027 with sectors like textiles, and industries such as steel and electronics to follow shortly after, the DPP will make key product information — from materials and repairability to recyclability and environmental impact — accessible throughout a product’s lifecycle. This will help businesses meet sustainability goals, enhance supply chain transparency, and empower consumers to make more informed choices.

Complementing this, the Omnibus Regulation is designed to harmonize sustainability data sharing across policies like ESPR and the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). Even as CSRD implementation faces delays into late 2025, companies are using this window to prepare for long-term compliance. To be DPP-ready, businesses must collect and standardize detailed product data, such as material composition, repair guidelines, and certifications, in secure, machine-readable formats accessible to stakeholders across the supply chain, in line with ESPR and Omnibus standards.

“Our integration with Protokol doesn’t just help businesses prepare for compliance — it automates complex data processes to deliver a smarter, more scalable solution,” said Johannis Hatt, CEO at Productsup. “Companies can automatically transform their enriched product data into detailed digital product passports — without manual reformatting or redundant data entry. This direct integration streamlines the entire DPP creation process, reducing the time and resources required to prepare for EU mandates. By combining our strengths, we’re bringing an end-to-end offering to the market, helping companies work toward compliance while safeguarding data integrity and setting them up for long-term success across multiple regulatory landscapes, from DPP to CSRD and beyond.”

The Rokan Hulu Landscape and Livelihoods Initiative drives sustainability and smallholder engagement

JAKARTA, Indonesia, May 27, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — A new partnership is set to advance palm oil production in Indonesia to make it more inclusive, sustainable, and resilient. The Rokan Hulu Landscape and Livelihoods Initiative brings together global integrated palm oil group Musim Mas, sweet-packaged food company Ferrero, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) Preferred by Nature, Agriterra, and the Sustainable Agriculture Network (SAN). Funded by the Danish government’s Danida Green Business Partnerships (DGBP) programme, this initiative aims to enhance independent smallholder livelihoods, protect the environment, and promote sustainable palm oil production in line with global sustainability standards and regulatory frameworks, including the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR).

The Rokan Hulu Landscape and Livelihoods Initiative
This five-year project focuses on implementing scalable solutions for sustainable palm oil production. Its aim is to support 5,400 independent smallholders in adopting regenerative agricultural practices that improve farming conditions, reduce synthetic inputs, and strengthen climate resilience.

The Rokan Hulu Landscape and Livelihoods Initiative will also strengthen two farmer organisations and help 2,500 farmers achieve certification under the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) and Indonesia Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO) standards.

Additionally, it aims to create diversified income opportunities for 2,000 community members—60 percent of whom will be women—while implementing measures to safeguard biodiversity and mitigate deforestation risks. A key element of the initiative is establishing a multi-stakeholder jurisdictional alliance to promote ecosystem restoration and ensure alignment with sustainability standards.

Preferred by Nature, an international NGO headquartered in Denmark with extensive experience in sustainable agriculture and forestry projects, will lead project coordination, capacity building, and training in sustainable practices. Dutch agri-agency Stichting Agriterra will focus on strengthening farmer organisations, enabling financial sustainability, and fostering cooperative business models, while international NGO SAN will provide expertise in regenerative agriculture and deliver on-ground support through its Indonesian partners Kaleka and Setara Jambi.

Both Musim Mas and Ferrero have a shared interest in securing a sustainable and traceable palm oil supply chain that complies with regulatory standards and meets voluntary commitments.

Addressing Systemic Challenges in Palm Oil Supply Chains
This project aligns the shared objectives of Ferrero and Musim Mas with development goals by addressing systemic challenges within independent smallholder supply chains.

These challenges include low productivity, varying levels of familiarity with sustainable farming practices, and environmental degradation, such as declining soil health. Independent smallholders, who manage over 40 percent of Indonesia’s planted palm oil, often encounter barriers to meeting RSPO and ISPO standards, including resource constraints, uneven access to knowledge, and land tenure issues. This initiative seeks to tackle these barriers by equipping farmers with the necessary tools and training to adopt sustainable practices, achieve certifications, and improve market access.

At the landscape level, the project fosters a multi-stakeholder alliance involving corporate, governmental, and civil society actors to strengthen ecosystem protection. These efforts safeguard biodiversity and support alignment with global sustainability standards like the EUDR.

A Model for Sustainable Palm Oil Production
By combining private sector commitments with nonprofit expertise, the Rokan Hulu Landscape and Livelihoods Initiative sets a benchmark for sustainable palm oil production and creates a win-win scenario for all stakeholders. Farmers can benefit from increased productivity, improved market access, and diversified incomes. Meanwhile, partners like Ferrero and Musim Mas can secure a reliable, sustainable, and traceable palm oil supply chain.

This project also generates long-term economic benefits for rural communities, contributes to global climate goals, and positions the Rokan Hulu region as a leading example of sustainable palm oil production.

This transformative initiative sets the stage for a more sustainable and inclusive palm oil industry. By addressing systemic challenges and fostering collaboration, the project paves the way for a resilient and environmentally responsible supply chain that benefits all stakeholders.

Mr Olivier Tichit, Director of Communications and Sustainability at Musim Mas, said: “Empowering smallholders through training and support is key to building a resilient and sustainable palm oil supply chain. Musim Mas takes a landscape-based approach to sustainability. Across the Smallholder Hubs we operate, we work with governments, suppliers, smallholders, NGOs, and other players in the landscape to achieve sustainability transformation. This project will enable us to contribute in a new dimension with our new partners.”

Mr Nicola Somenzi,  Head of Responsible Sourcing at Ferrero, said: “We aim to create a thriving supply chain which benefits farmers’ livelihoods and communities, protecting people and nature. Beyond sourcing RSPO segregated palm oil for our products, our active participation in initiatives like this strengthens the foundation for a resilient and environmentally responsible supply chain that creates long-term value for all.”

Mr Jakob Ryding, Senior Director of Projects at Preferred by Nature, said: “At Preferred by Nature, we believe that sustainable palm oil production is only possible when smallholders are equipped with the right knowledge, resources and market access. This project demonstrates how collaboration between businesses and NGOs can address systemic challenges, empower farmers, and protect vital ecosystems. We are delighted to be part of this initiative.”

Mr Jose Joaquín Campos, Executive Director at SAN, said: “By integrating regenerative agriculture and nature-based solutions, this initiative demonstrates how sustainable farming can simultaneously revive ecosystems and enhance farmer livelihoods.”

Mr Marco Schouten, CEO of Stichting Agriterra, said: “Strengthening farmer organisations is at the heart of what we do. This project provides the tools needed to empower farmer organisations and their members, enabling them to cooperate to achieve financial sustainability and seize new market opportunities.”

NEW YORK, May 26, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — As awareness around sustainability and menstrual health grows, more women are making the switch to reusable period products. A recent Intimina survey reveals that 88.22% of respondents use reusable menstrual products at least some of the time, with 44.44% choosing them every cycle. Yet, despite their benefits, misconceptions still prevent many from fully embracing menstrual cups and menstrual underwear.

Why women are switching to reusables

The survey found that the top three reasons women choose reusable period products are:

  • Health benefits (38.22%) – Many prefer menstrual cups and underwear because they eliminate exposure to chemicals often found in disposable products.
  • Sustainability (31.11%) – With the average person using over 11,000 disposable menstrual products in a lifetime, switching to reusables dramatically reduces waste.
  • Cost savings (19.78%) – Investing in menstrual cups and period underwear leads to significant long-term savings compared to monthly purchases of disposable pads and tampons.

Menstrual cups are the most popular reusable option, with 80.89% of users choosing them over other sustainable alternatives. However, only 43.33% use menstrual underwear, and even fewer (32.22%) combine both for added protection.

One of the biggest barriers to adoption is fear of leakage. However, over half (54.22%) of those who use reusable products report feeling more secure compared to disposables. Only 8.67% believe disposable products offer better protection.

“The data is clear—women who use menstrual cups and underwear feel more protected and stress-free during their periods,” says Dunja Kokotovic, Intimina’s Global Brand Manager. “Yet, many still hesitate to make the switch due to myths about leakage, hygiene, and comfort. This Menstrual Hygiene Day, we want to empower more people with the facts so they can make informed choices about their bodies and the planet.”

Breaking the myths around menstrual cups and underwear

To encourage more women to try reusable period products, Intimina is addressing common concerns:

  • “Menstrual cups are messy and hard to use.” – While there is a learning curve, most users find cups easy to insert and remove after a few cycles.
  • “Period underwear isn’t hygienic.” – High-quality menstrual underwear is designed with moisture-wicking and odor-controlling layers that keep users dry and fresh.
  • “Reusable products leak more than disposables.” – Menstrual cups form a secure seal, preventing leaks for up to 10 hours. Combining them with period underwear offers extra confidence and protection.
  • “Cups and underwear are expensive.” – While the upfront cost is higher, a menstrual cup lasts up to 10 years, and period underwear replaces hundreds of disposable pads and tampons over time.

A call for smarter, sustainable period care

This Menstrual Hygiene Day, Intimina urges more people to reconsider their period care routine and explore sustainable, healthier options. By addressing misconceptions and encouraging education, more women can experience the benefits of menstrual cups and underwear—without fear, discomfort, or waste.

Sign collaboration agreement for development of green fuels bunkering market, terminal infrastructure, and Port Development for Net Zero Industrial Clusters.

HYDERABAD, India and ROTTERDAM, Netherlands, May 26, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — AM Green and the Port of Rotterdam Authority signed a Memorandum of Understanding to focus on building a green energy supply chain between India and Northwestern Europe via Rotterdam, Europe’s first energy port and a key hydrogen carriers entry point. This includes the supply of bunkering fuels and Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAFs) and analysing requirements for the development of terminal infrastructure in Rotterdam and along the supply chain to Northwestern Europe.

Furthermore, the partnership will jointly support the development of strategic port infrastructure for safe distribution of hydrogen-based fuels and products, and link India’s Net Zero Industrial Clusters to Europe, enabling exports of up to 1,000,000 tons annually. The envisaged supply chain can enable trade of green fuels up to USD 1 Billon between the two economies.

AM Green is pushing its ambitious goal to develop 5,000,000 tons of Green Ammonia production capacity by 2030, equivalent to about 1,000,000 of Green Hydrogen to meet the rising global demand for green fuels, with initial production starting in Kakinada, On the other hand, the Port of Rotterdam plays a lead role as a critical logistics and hydrogen hub for the European continent with some 13% of the total energy demand in Europe entering via Rotterdam. Together, they aim to fulfil India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission and Europe’s ambitious decarbonization goals.

Boudewijn Siemons, CEO of the Port of Rotterdam Authority, stated, “We are delighted to collaborate with AM Green BV to further strengthen our commitment to the energy transition. This agreement marks an important step towards establishing a robust supply chain for low-carbon fuels and chemicals. With India’s vast potential for green hydrogen production, combined with Rotterdam’s strategic location and advanced infrastructure, the collaboration will lead to a robust and sustainable green energy supply chain between the two regions”

Anil Chalamalasetty, Founder of AM Green and Greenko Group said, “This partnership is part of our ambitious global growth strategy in green fuels including 5 MTPA of green ammonia and 1 MTPA of SAF. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in establishing a global carbon-free energy ecosystem. It will enable the seamless movement of green molecules and fuels from India to Europe, reinforcing AM Green’s position as a global clean energy transition platform and accelerating industrial decarbonization globally.”

About the Port of Rotterdam Authority: The Port of Rotterdam plays a vital role in the economy and security of supply for the Rotterdam-Rijnmond region, the Netherlands, and Europe. Its strategic location, strong infrastructure, and excellent hinterland connections make it a key hub for global trade and industry. The Port of Rotterdam Authority focuses on sustainable development, efficient port operations, and safe maritime traffic. Its goal is to strengthen the port’s role as a future-proof logistics and industrial hub, with a strong commitment to quality and the development of a climate-neutral port in harmony with its environment.
