Eight high-achieving American college students will be selected for 8-week summer internship program in Copenhagen

PORTLAND, Maine, July 2, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — The Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE) and Scan Design Foundation (SDF) are pleased to announce the inaugural edition of the Scan Design Foundation Environmental Sustainability Internship in Denmark, that will launch in summer 2026.

This immersive experience is designed to equip interns with practical skills and insights that will enhance their employability and career readiness, while deepening their understanding of environmental sustainability in the Danish context.

Eight undergraduate and/or graduate students will be selected to intern and study in Denmark from May 19 – July 12, 2026. Each will receive a fellowship award that covers the full program cost, airfare, and a living stipend. During the program, participants will intern with a host company in Copenhagen focused on environmentally sustainable business practices and aligned with their skills and career goals. They will also complete a 6-credit internship seminar, explore the local Danish sustainability culture, and participate in networking opportunities, including events at local sustainability start-up hubs. Plus, a professional development workshop series, which builds on the internship seminar and covers topics such as job searching and resume writing, will prepare the interns to navigate the complexities of the modern job market and achieve their professional goals.

Internship opportunities will be available at a wide range of Danish host companies, from a cleaning supplies producer committed to creating positive environmental and social outcomes through sustainable infrastructure development, to a company focused on accelerating sustainability strategy implementation and cultural change within organizations, to a company that specializes in developing innovative biomass gasification technologies designed to reduce the environmental impact of energy production.

Eligible applicants who complete an application for the Scan Design Foundation Environmental Sustainability Internship but are not selected for the program will receive a CIEE Grant of $1,500 that can be used toward any of CIEE’s 200+ summer and semester study abroad programs through Spring 2027.

(NASDAQ: LWAY) who together exercise voting control with respect to approximately 23.2% of the outstanding shares of Lifeway Foods, today announced the filing of a definitive consent statement with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The filing initiates a process to remove Lifeway’s current board of directors and elect a new slate of nominees who will be focused on restoring accountability, transparency and long-term shareholder value.

Mr. Smolyansky and Mrs. Smolyansky are seeking shareholder approval on four proposals: to repeal any bylaw amendments adopted after March 24, 2023; to remove all current directors, including CEO and Chair Julie Smolyansky; to elect a new board of seven highly qualified nominees who collectively have deep experience in governance, finance, operations, and consumer products; and to amend Lifeway’s by-laws to prohibit it from employing or engaging any immediate family member of its President or Chief Executive Officer. This is the first narrative of a series: my next write up will highlight focused patient journeys and conclusions.

Whether scarcity of female representation in clinical trials or delayed presentation, each is driven by a single root cause – lack of advocacy for in-depth women’s cardiovascular care at physician and population levels. Medical curriculum does not include dedicated training in female predominant (angina with open arteries, postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome) and female specific (obstetric, menopausal and gynecological) disorders. 

From a physician’s perspective, after over 12 years of training and inevitably large loans to pay, patient care compensation becomes a critical determinant in practice of medicine. Current patient care compensation models and quality metrics do not support gender-specific parameters. Developing new programs and algorithms to diagnose and manage female specific ailments is adjudged a time-consuming task that takes away from productivity and accordingly compensation.

Interventions to address this include training courses for physicians including symposia, books and webinars with CME credits. Credible, patient focused, free-of-charge physician podcasts called “BIA for you, for them” and book “BIA she is the force” under initiative https://www.biayourself.com/ are attempts in pursuit to weld those discrepancies. Focusing on interrelated disease management affecting our women is paramount. There is sprouting enthusiasm globally to assimilate viewpoints from those who have spent energy, time and resources dedicated to women’s cardiovascular health.

Another high-priority area that needs emergent scrutiny is effective community engagement tactics. Most women still believe that breast cancer is the colossal killer, even though heart disease kills 6 times more women- a heartbreaking statistic. Mobilizing, educating and sensitizing our community is vital – from routine screening, to recognizing symptoms and risk factors, to ensuring compliance with testing and medications: each step calls for deliberate collaboration. Expanding presence in the EV battery safety market

Svenska Aerogel continues to strengthen its position in the EV battery segment by actively engaging in industry events and advancing several customer partnerships. Current development projects include the use of Quartzene® as a thermal barrier in the latest generation of battery technologies — an area driven by stringent safety requirements and rapid innovation.

Progress with customers within the Building & Construction segment

Developed in collaboration with Svenska Aerogels distributor Krahn Italy, the solution is already gaining traction and additional clients of Krahn Italy are now testing similar applications.

Developments in the Advanced segment: New major order

The major order from a North American manufacturer of thermal insulation solutions for outdoor products was initially for 2 tons. During the process the customer increased the order to 2.6 tons – which is their first major order of Quartzene®. Tor Einar Norbakk, CEO of Svenska Aerogel, comments the development in the project:
