CAMDEN, NJ, June 1, 2023 /3BL Media/ – Subaru of America, Inc. today announced that it will renew its partnership with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) during Subaru Loves to Care® month in June. Now in its eighth consecutive year, the partnership reflects the commitment of the automaker and its nationwide network of retailers to supporting families and children impacted by blood cancer.

This June, over 600 Subaru retailers will provide warm blankets and handwritten messages of hope to patients facing cancer. Additionally, about two-thirds of the participating retailers are donating specialty patient care kits, and nearly 30% are also supporting LLS’s Patient Aid Program which provides blood cancer patients with financial assistance for costs associated with treatment, such as transportation, food, housing and more. By the end of 2023, Subaru of America and its retailers across the country will have supported nearly 300,000 cancer patients. Subaru will also match donations to LLS.org during Subaru Loves to Care month from June 1-30, 2023, up to $150,000 in total. Subaru is the largest automotive donor to LLS.

“Everyone deserves the opportunity to lead a healthy life, and for those in the fight of their lives facing cancer, we want to extend our heartfelt encouragement and admiration,” said Alan Bethke, Senior Vice President of Marketing at Subaru of America, “Their courage is an inspiration to us all and together with our retailers, we’re committed to showing our support with a measure of warmth and love from our Subaru family to theirs.”

Every three minutes in the U.S., a new patient is diagnosed with leukemia, lymphoma, or myeloma. As the treatment and rehabilitation process can often be long and arduous, blood cancer patients can be left feeling cold, confined, and in a weakened state. Thousands of Subaru owners and retailer employees have contributed messages of hope throughout the Subaru Loves to Care initiative and are proudly continuing the tradition in 2023 to show support for their community members during an emotionally and physically challenging time in their lives.

“We’re grateful for our longstanding partnership with Subaru and its retailers in support of LLS’s mission to improve the quality of life for blood cancer patients and their families and invest in cutting-edge cancer research,” said E. Anders Kolb, M.D., President and CEO of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. “Through Subaru’s generous contributions and coordination of on-site blanket and care-kit deliveries, the company demonstrates its steadfast commitment to providing patients with support, encouragement and hope when they need it most.”

To highlight Subaru Loves to Care and the support it provides to children and families, the automaker has launched a series of advertising assets including a 15-second clip, 30-second TV spot and feature video centered around a brave patient’s story as he faces cancer.

Those looking to write messages of hope for patients in their community are invited to visit their local Subaru retailer. According to the International Energy Agency, over 14 million electric vehicles, or EVs, are expected to be sold globally in 2023. If this is accurate, EVs would account for about 18 percent of total car sales for the year, a 35 percent increase over 2022. The EV revolution is upon us, and here to help Sea Change Radio listeners decide where to plug-in is automotive journalist, Jim Motavalli. We discuss the puzzling decision by General Motors to shelve the Chevy Bolt, get some recommendations on new EV automakers and models, and examine America’s ongoing fascination with big old gas-guzzling trucks and SUVs.

Chicago Fifth Third Bank team members marked Fifth Third Day, May 3 or 5/3 on the calendar, by teaming up with Blessings in a Backpack at the Fifth Third Arena, the Chicago Blackhawk practice rink. Volunteers packed 3,000 bags of food for Chicago-area school children facing food insecurity.

Additionally, Fifth Third team members volunteered at the Greater Chicago Food Depository to pack 6,000 pounds of bread, 4,200 pounds of peppers and 7,800 pounds of onions into meal portion bags. The efforts equated to over 20,000 meals for food pantries across Chicago.

The Bank has recognized 5/3 on the calendar as Fifth Third Day since 1991, and since 2012 the Bank and its employees have worked toward a common goal to fight hunger. This year’s goal is to provide 10 million meals across its retail footprint and to tackle food insecurity one community at a time. CAMDEN, N.J., May 31, 2023 /3BL Media/ – This week, Subaru of America, Inc. donated dozens of vehicles to the North American Vehicle Rescue Association (NAVRA) for their three-day rescue workshop session and competition, benefitting the training of emergency responders and offering a second life to pre-production cars that would have otherwise been crushed.

NAVRA provides education and training for firefighters, first responders, paramedics, nurses, physicians, manufacturers, and other related groups. The event took place from May 24th to 26th at Subaru Park in Chester, PA, and featured a two-day workshop on skills and tactics, as well as a mini rescue challenge. The event marked the first time that the training has taken place in the Northeast, providing a unique opportunity for local first responders to get involved and learn skills critical to patient rescue in vehicle accidents.

“Our mission is to reduce the number of motor-vehicle-related injuries and deaths by enhancing the skills and knowledge of expertly trained emergency professionals, and partners like Subaru are essential to this progress,” said John-Paul Shirley, Chester Bureau of Fire Battalion Chief. “We normally only have the opportunity to train on older vehicles from junkyards, and it’s important that we are familiar with newer vehicles with strong construction to help us better adapt lifesaving procedures and skills when dealing with accidents and emergency scenarios.”

First responders from Chester, PA, Scranton, PA, Philadelphia, and Delaware attended the event which included live rescue scenarios with real “victims” using lifesaving tools including saws, cutters, spreaders, pneumatic chisels and more.

“We are so excited to be a part of this amazing event with NAVRA in Chester. This event marked the 145th vehicle that Subaru has donated to emergency rescue organizations across the country over the last few years to help with their training events,” said Shira Haaz, Corporate Responsibility Manager at Subaru of America, Inc. “Not only are we helping to provide training that will allow first responders to improve lifesaving rescues across the region, but this donation also helps Subaru find new life for cars that can’t be sold and would otherwise go unused.”

In addition to the 40 trainees from six fire departments, members of the public and local community stopped by Subaru Park to view the trainings and competition and learn about how firefighters and emergency workers practice the lifesaving skills they use in their incredibly important jobs.

The Aerodynamic Research Center at the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) is bringing hypersonic travel to the United States. What would take hours of travel time will be reduced to several miles per second, and to develop these hypersonic capabilities, the team has been using Cadence tools.

UTA’s Aerodynamic Research Center’s project was inaugurated in 2015 and is now fully operational. One of the facility’s most complex components is the hypersonic diffuser. Cadence’s Fidelity Pointwise was a key player in designing the component, and at UTA it was the first time that such a component was designed using high-fidelity simulation.

UTA’s relationship with Pointwise goes further back, however, as the founders of Pointwise were alumni of UTA. Today, Fidelity Pointwise is supporting UTA’s students very well, thanks to its online learning platform that helps smoothen the learning curve. Fidelity Pointwise’s control on the mesh generation has also been a big help, as it assures that a good size of mesh can be gathered with a decent turnaround time.

Frank Lu, professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering, said, “I have to say that there doesn’t appear to be any other product in the market that does such a fantastic job as Cadence’s Fidelity Pointwise.”

“Designed with Cadence” is a series of videos that showcases creative products and technologies that are accelerating industry innovation using Cadence tools and solutions. Learn more about how UTA is bringing hypersonic travel with Fidelity Pointwise.

CINCINNATI, May 31, 2023 /3BL Media/ – In recognition of its commitment to and success in reducing its greenhouse gas emissions intensity in recent years, Cintas Corporation (Nasdaq: CTAS) has been named to the inaugural USA Today Climate Leader 2023 list.

To determine its first-ever Climate Leader list, USA Today teamed with Statista, a leading global provider of market and consumer data. They identified the U.S.-headquartered companies who met the inclusion criteria that achieved the greatest reductions in their core emissions intensities – the measurement of Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions as a factor of revenue – between 2019 and 2021.

Cintas lowered the emissions intensity of its Scope 1 direct and Scope 2 indirect emissions from 113.1 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalents per million dollars of revenue (MTCO2e/$M) in fiscal year 2019, to 89.3 MTCO2e/$M in fiscal year 2021, which ended on May 31, 2021.

In fiscal year 2022, Cintas lowered its emissions intensity by an additional 7.5% – to 82.6 MTCO2e/$M – to bring its four-year emissions intensity reduction to 27%. More information about Cintas’ emissions performance and data methodologies is available in its 2022 ESG Report.

“Rallying around our sustainability vision – A Shared Drive for Better – has been important for us and our business,” said Todd Schneider, Cintas President and CEO. “Our history of identifying opportunities and solutions through our culture of positive discontent has had a major impact on lowering our environmental impact.

“We appreciate USA Today for recognizing Cintas as a Climate Leader in its inaugural program. We believe innovation and advances in technology will continue to be important drivers in our sustainability initiatives, especially as we identify opportunities to pursue sustainable programs and processes throughout our business,” Schneider added.

Enterprise-wide initiatives like an LED lighting conversion project and an ongoing dedication to Operational Excellence and Reliability initiatives have all helped contribute to the decrease in GHG emissions intensity.

Other more recent initiatives – including the rollout of its first electric fleet vehicles and its SmartTruck fleet routing optimization program – are expected to help contribute to ongoing emissions intensity reductions.

In September 2021, Cintas announced its ambition to achieve Net Zero GHG emissions by 2050 and has continued to build out its enterprise-wide sustainability strategy.

“We never stop challenging the status quo in everything we do to deliver A Shared Drive for Better,” said Christy Nageleisen, Cintas Vice President of ESG. “As we continue on our ESG Journey, and especially our Path to Net Zero, we will continue to embrace opportunities that elevate sustainable solutions. We’ve made significant progress during the last few years in identifying more efficient ways to operate, and we’ll continue to evaluate every input and output as we focus on reducing our environmental impact, including our direct and indirect emissions.”

The company’s sustainable business model dates back to the Great Depression when out-of-work circus performers Doc and Amelia Farmer collected dirty, discarded shop rags and laundered them at home before selling them back to the same Cincinnati-area companies and creating a local circular economy for otherwise end-of-life products.

As the family company continued to evolve, it continued to operate a reduce, reuse, repair, recycle program – first with rags and towels before expanding to other textiles and later rented workwear under Cintas Founder and Doc and Amelia’s grandson, Dick Farmer.
