Recognized as the world’s largest nonprofit dedicated to planting trees, the 500 million Arbor Day Foundation trees have found homes in cities, forests and neighborhoods in more than 50 countries worldwide.

“Sometimes it’s hard to put 500 million trees in context because it’s so many trees. But whether it was planted in somebody’s backyard or in a national forest, every one of these Arbor Day Foundation trees matters,” said Dan Lambe, chief executive of the Arbor Day Foundation. “All of these trees are helping to solve some of the most pressing issues facing people and the planet today, but guess what? It’s still not enough. We have to do more, and we will do more, thanks to our incredible network of members, supporters and partners.”

The Arbor Day Foundation has already committed to planting 500 million new trees over five years. The planting goal focuses on putting trees in forests and communities of greatest need. By using extensive data and technology, the Foundation can identify those areas where trees stand to have the greatest impact.

Arbor Day Foundation trees have helped to address environmental inequities in underserved neighborhoods, restore wildlife habitats and help communities rebuild after natural disasters. The trees help to cool cities, capture carbon to slow climate change and provide economic opportunities.

Arbor Day Foundation team members celebrated the occasion with a ceremonial tree planting this spring at Arbor Day Farm in Nebraska City.

Logitech Blog

A few weeks ago we celebrated the departure of our longest lasting colleague. He had been a part of Logitech for 40 years, pretty much from day one. I stood there listening to Denis’ stories on the first mouse, the co-invention of the USB protocol (that pretty much every tech accessory on this planet is still leveraging), and so many other successes and failures.

But what struck me the most was « how the heck had Denis been with Logitech for FORTY years ? » what had made him stay pretty much his whole career at Logitech?

People. Product. Passion. These were the words of Logitech’s founder, Daniel Borel.

For Denis, it was really People, Passion, and Product. In that order.

And this is also what I believe in the most. Passion comes from great people coming together. The people of Logitech, the LogiPeople as we call ourselves, are a people first crowd. Our energy and passion coming together help us deliver the best experiences (and products) to our customers.

Cultivating a people first culture is taking care of the soil from which emerges the best ideas, the best solutions, the best products and experiences for all the people out there.

Throughout my career as a designer, I quickly understood that people would be the strongest muscle I’d have to develop to become successful at what I’m doing. Getting people from different cultures, stories, experiences, expertise areas and backgrounds to confront each other in a healthy and productive way has always led to the best products out there. At least for us, at Logitech.

This is why it’s so important for me as LogiPride Lead (the LGBTIQ+ employee group of Logitech) to keep cultivating our soil of people. To make sure it’s getting more and more diverse and favorable to new growth. So that more diverse stories, point of views, and experiences end up in the war room where ideas come to life. So that these products and experiences that end up out there in the world can “help ALL people to pursue their passion in a way that is good for the planet” as our CEO likes to say.

The LGBTIQ+ community is going through tough times at the moment. We see dramatic situations in the US, Eastern Europe, Central Africa and many other places in the world.

The role of LogiPride is to hold a positive stance against LGBTIQ+ discriminations. And we got such an incredible crowd at Logitech.

By creating presence, inviting organizations and experts for talks and conferences, celebrating our diversity at work, and collaborating with our People Culture department, we raise awareness. We help improve the workplace.

Across Logitech, we really endeavor to provide a work environment in which every single employee feels they can truly be themselves and flourish in what they do.

But our mission does not end here. We are conscious of the impact we can have on people and the planet. And we want to leverage it on enabling communities around us to make a positive impact.

LogiPride members are distributed all across the globe. We’re connecting or active members within local LGBTIQ+ organizations. We support them by volunteering or contributing financially to the best of our abilities.

Our employee resource group is dedicated to this. We help influencing within and outside so we can help make the world a better place, at our scale.

I know, we Logitech, are far from being perfect, but we have the drive, the people, the passion, to evolve towards a better future for all minorities out there.

This is a never ending fight, we must stay alert and fight for what’s right. I want to believe that in forty years’ time, but I’m so proud and lucky to be a part of this community of people, here, at Logitech.

For all the ones out there not being able to be OUT, LOUD, and PROUD out there, we’re thinking of you. We’re doing this for you:

LogiPride wishes you all a freaking happy pride.

–Giulio Barresi, LogiPride Lead

ST. LOUIS, June 7, 2023 /3BL Media/ – Today, Field to Market: The Alliance for Sustainable Agriculture™ announced their Gold Level Equivalence against SAI Platform’s new FSA 3.0, which is the highest possible rating. This update strengthens Field to Market and SAI Platform ‘s Equivalency Agreement announced in 2017.

The Farm Sustainability Assessment (FSA) enables food and drink businesses to assess, improve, and validate on-farm sustainability in their supply chains. It aims to drive relevant and demonstrable continuous improvement of on-farm social, environmental, and business performance through supply chain collaboration and fostering a common understanding of sustainable agriculture. As part of the Equivalency Module, Field to Market’s Fieldprint Platform™ is viewed as an accepted means of fulfilling the requirements of the FSA.

With this equivalency added to the Fieldprint Platform, users will be able to achieve FSA Bronze, Silver or Gold Level Equivalence after completing the Field to Market’s Fieldprint Platform and answering up to 22 questions. This benchmark enables a streamlined process to support Field to Market members in advancing sustainable agriculture in the U.S. These 22 questions further expand Platform questions and hone in on topics including farm management & community, health & safety, crop protection, nutrient management, and biodiversity.

The updated Equivalency Module allows participating farmers utilizing the Fieldprint Platform’s outcomes-based, metrics-driven sustainability approach to tap into a global verification framework and benchmark reference for many sustainable farming schemes.

“It is exciting to bring an updated equivalence level to the Fieldprint Platform, enhancing the sustainability assessment tools available to members interested in reporting on their global supply chains,” says Field to Market President Scott Herndon. “U.S. farmers who are able to demonstrate improvement in operations’ sustainability through our outcomes-based metrics gain additional value through the enhanced recognition in global markets offered through SAI Platform’s FSA program.”

Joe Rushton, FSA Director, said, “We are pleased to continue our collaboration with Field to Market and celebrate their efforts in promoting sustainability among U.S. farmers. The FSA remains committed to fostering a harmonized approach to sustainability across various crops and sourcing regions, and we recognize the significant value that Field to Market brings towards achieving this goal. We firmly believe that this collaboration harnesses the best of both our organizations, enhancing our ability to support our members and facilitate the recognition of their sustainability initiatives.”

This update provides greater efficiency in helping members measure and assess the sustainability performance of their supply chains through improved alignment between the foremost agricultural sustainability initiatives worldwide.

The Entrepreneurial Refugee Network (TERN) was launched in 2016 to recognize the failure of destination countries to include refugees in their labor and financial markets. TERN’s mission is to enable refugees to thrive through the power of their own ideas. They provide extensive business development services (BDS) for refugee-led businesses. This includes mentorship, pandemic support, and an online marketplace called Anqa.

However, beyond business development support, TERN’s community surveys revealed that their network was looking for financing opportunities and they were unable to find suitable options. Therefore, in 2020, TERN launched Skylight to introduce a finance product which was tailored specifically for their community. Loans are uncollateralized, small in size and repaid gradually and without interest cost in order to make them accessible and affordable. Loans up to 1000 GBP ($1,200 USD) are repaid over up to 24 months.

For example, Skylight client Angie, the founder of Angie’s Rainbows, invested 264 GBP ($317 USD) in her business making hair accessories. Angie donates a portion of the profits from her handmade products to support the LGBTQI+ refugee community in the UK, to give back to organizations who have previously supported her.

The Skylight loan was specifically allocated for the purchase of a cricut machine, which has enabled Angie to make her production process much quicker and more efficient. This meant she could produce a collection of festive hair bows in time for Christmas, which she sold on the Anqa website.

Whole Planet Foundation funds will be allocated to Skylight’s micro loan product. Over three years, $150,000 USD from Whole Planet Foundation can be leveraged to disburse a total value of almost 200,000 GBP ($240,000 USD). This additional impact comes as loans are repaid and then lent back out, continuously revolving in the Skylight loan portfolio. The Whole Planet Foundation funds alone have the potential to offer much needed business capital to over 250 refugee entrepreneurs over the next three years. And in total, Skylight plans to disburse about 600,000 GBP ($720,000 USD) during this three-year period.

Beyond direct financing for their community through micro loans, Skylight’s mission is to become the inclusive home for refugee finance. This means advocating for improved inclusive practices among mainstream financial services providers. It also means developing financial literacy resources for refugee founders. With the majority of their leadership team and loan approval panel representative of people with refugee backgrounds themselves, Whole Planet Foundation sees Skylight as well placed to take on this challenge.

“Over the next year we plan to lend £60,000 ($72,000 USD) to 90 entrepreneurs, and to continue to grow our community of clients, businesses and borrowers. We will continue to support the evident and largely untapped potential of the refugee entrepreneurs we work with.”

Quest’s vision is to empower better health through diagnostic insights. Our ability to achieve that vision is dependent on one of our key values, integrity. We strive to operate ethically, honestly, and responsibly, in accordance with our Code of Ethics.

Our commitment to ethical business conduct

We are committed to adhering to all applicable laws and regulations in our work as a healthcare leader. We have a clear strategy to maintain a culture of compliance and integrity at Quest that engages all our employees and emphasizes the importance of ethical behavior through our policies, training, assessments, and reporting practices.

Policies

Quest’s Code of Ethics is critical to our success, empowering us with the roadmap we need to earn and maintain the trust of our patients, customers, shareholders, and colleagues. Our Code is not merely a set of rules—it defines our approach to making good decisions no matter what our role is and creates a shared sense of pride among all of us.

Our Code and compliance policies apply to all employees, subsidiaries, vendors, contractors, suppliers, interns, business partners, and representatives who work on our behalf. We expect the best from ourselves and one another, including a commitment to Quest’s core values of leadership, integrity, quality, innovation, collaboration, and accountability.

We expect one another to ask questions and take action if something isn’t right. Employees who have concerns are encouraged to share them with their manager; a representative from our Human Resources, Compliance, or Legal departments; or confidentially or anonymously through our hotline or online inquiry form.

Training

We look to our managers and supervisors to always promote our Code and model the right behaviors. This includes creating an open-door environment, making it clear that any form of retaliation is unacceptable when an employee raises concerns, ensuring employees are properly trained, and being fully present to offer guidance and support. All full-time, part-time, and contract employees are required to complete training upon hire as well as on an ongoing, annual basis. The training topics include compliance, fraud, and abuse; privacy; corruption; bribery; and our Code of Ethics. Select employees are also trained on compliance with the Foreign Corrupt Protection Act (FCPA). Our compliance training program is reviewed as part of our internal audit process, with select segments overseen by our Legal department.

Risk assessment

The best way to assess compliance risks—and the capacity to effectively address those risks—is to do so consistently and continuously throughout the year. We expect all employees to identify any compliance issues within their areas of responsibility.

The company engages in an annual risk assessment specific to compliance, assessing and categorizing compliance risks regarding severity and the level of mitigation required. The Compliance Risk Assessment is conducted at the direction of counsel and is an element of the enterprise risk management (ERM) program.

Reporting process

We routinely communicate with employees on how to confidentially report a violation of the Code and take all reports of violations extremely seriously. Reports are investigated by the Compliance, Human Resources, and/or Legal departments, as appropriate. If the investigation reveals a violation of a compliance policy, the Compliance department oversees any necessary corrective action including discipline up to and including termination. The corrective action taken is dictated by the type of issue involved, based on the circumstances and facts gathered during the investigative process, and consistent with written disciplinary guidelines. Our Senior Vice President of Compliance provides oversight on the program and reports directly to our CEO.

Our commitment to human rights

We are committed to protecting human rights across our operations, including our supply chain. We’re proud to share our human rights policy, and we believe that protecting and supporting human rights is our fundamental responsibility as an employer. We comply with all applicable employment and human rights laws and regulations where we have operations to ensure alignment with our values.

We provide fair and equitable wages, benefits, and other conditions of employment in accordance with local laws and regulations.
We do not allow child labor in our operations.
We do not use or engage in any form of coerced, indentured, or prison labor.
We provide a safe and healthy work setting, including PPE and the tools to work safely.
We promote a workplace that is free of discrimination and harassment and prohibit threats or abuse.
We embrace diversity in the workforce and supplier base, create an environment that promotes diverse opinions and equal opportunity, and operate in a way that treats all people with respect and dignity.

Enterprise risk management begins with awareness

We maintain an enterprise risk management (ERM) program overseen by our Board of Directors and driven by our C-suite executives that is designed to promote risk awareness throughout the company’s key business, operations, and support functions.

Our program, which is integrated with the company’s governance, performance management, and internal control frameworks, entails a formal continuous process that identifies, assesses, mitigates, and manages the risks from both internal and external conditions that could significantly impact the company and influence its business strategy and performance.

The program is based on the most recent framework issued by the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission (COSO) and focuses on operational, financial, legal, compliance, and strategic risk.

As part of the program, together with our Board of Directors, we routinely assess our enterprise-level risks, emerging risk factors, overall company-level risk tolerance, and the effectiveness of our risk management, as well as monitor the progress of and resources applied to risk mitigation. In addition, we continue to strengthen the alignment of our ERM program with our key environmental, social, and governance (ESG) areas of focus.
