As 5G evolution advances, developments like the open radio access network (O-RAN) ecosystem, non-terrestrial network (NTN) infrastructure, and 5G reduced capability (RedCap) devices continue to gain momentum. Though 5G implementation is still underway, the wireless communication industry is already preparing for next-generation 6G wireless technology.

With so much development happening all at once, it’s difficult to keep up. During the Keysight Wireless Tech Days virtual event, subject matter experts explained design and development principles essential for today’s RF engineers.

Take Your Designs to Release 17

Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) Release 17 enhancements enable new classes of 5G wireless devices. Cellular service providers continue to develop NTN technology in their effort to provide ubiquitous coverage around the world. Once fully deployed, the impact of NTN infrastructure will revolutionize numerous technologies, from emergency service systems to shipping and logistics tracking.

5G NTN intends to provide satellite service to billions of mobile phone subscribers worldwide. However, there are three critical challenges 5G NTN technology must address:

Doppler shifttime varying path delaytime varying path attenuation

In 5G NTN, the network adjusts the timing of the radio frames to match the user location and pre-compensates part of the link frequency error caused by the satellite movement. These adjustments make it easier for the user terminal to tolerate the satellite link characteristics. Network broadcast system information blocks (SIBs), which store information about satellite locations and velocities, enable the cell phone to estimate link conditions, the delay of the satellite link, and Doppler error in transmission frequency.

On the first day of Wireless Tech Days, application engineer Randy Becker described how to test the compliance of 3GPP enhanced handsets with the Keysight NTN testbed. The demonstration showcased how to capture delay and error measurements, as well as demodulated uplink signal constellation, spectrum, error vector magnitude (EVM), and uplink / downlink throughput. Additionally, Randy tested how the NTN handset performed SMS and video streaming functionalities.

Also on day one, Manuel Blanco, 5G strategic planner, discussed narrow-band internet of things (NB-IoT) applications within NTN. While originally envisioned as a technology to connect low-cost IoT devices with limited power consumption and throughput requirements, developers plan to use NB-IoT over NTN as a means to support ubiquitous coverage to mobile handsets for texting, voice communication, and multicast firmware updates.

Manuel demonstrated how to use the UXM 5G network emulator for in the lab satellite emulation while testing a NB-IoT enabled cell phone for off-grid scenarios. The demonstration covered geostationary orbits (GSO) and non-geostationary orbit (NGSO). Manuel walked through how to configure an NB-IoT cell to an NTN cell with varying delay and Doppler settings. In addition to uplink / downlink throughput and block error ratio (BLER), EVM, and frequency error measurements, Miguel-Angel Guijarro, 5G product manager, detailed conformance testing and automation on the Keysight platform.

Take Open RAN to the Next Level

The evolution of Open RAN as defined by the O-RAN Alliance continues to reshape radio access networks. Open RAN has enormous implications for increasing network energy efficiency, which was the main focus of day two of Wireless Tech Days. O-RAN equipment requires three different test categories:

O-RAN conformance testing focuses mainly on protocol, while 3GPP conformance tests deal primarily with RF performance. Energy efficiency testing requires engineers to measure energy consumption together with protocol and RF performance. To optimize communication system energy efficiency, equipment manufacturers and network operators must:

address disparate requirements efficientlytest and correlate data across different domains: RF, protocol, and energy plane (E-plane)automate tests to keep up with the high rate of innovation

Engineers need a unified test strategy that enables them to measure their radio performance against three different standards, and then cross-correlate the results. Beyond that, developers need to automate their test strategy for optimal regression testing across firmware releases.

Jean Dassonville, RAN solution planner, demonstrated static O-RAN radio unit testing using the Keysight E-plane testbed. This solution leverages 3GPP and O-RAN solutions and extends capabilities to the E-plane.

Included in the automated solution platform, a time sync analyzer functions as a distributed unit (O-DU) emulator while a regenerative power system is used to perform the DC measurement. The RF power sensor is time synchronized with the O-DU emulator for time gated measurements.

Take Component Testing From 5G to 6G

On the final day of Wireless Tech Days, Nizar Messaoudi, Heather Richardson, Afsi Moaveni, and Dr. Joel Dunsmore discussed how Keysight network analysis solutions enable cutting-edge component insights while simplifying the test setup.

Nizar, VNA product manager, demonstrated transmit / receive (T / R) module, low noise amplifier (LNA), and power amplifier (PA) characterization use cases for the new Keysight ENA-X network analyzer. T / R modules support modern communication system performance through three key functions:

boosting transmission signals to the maximum radiated powerestablishing system noise figure during receive operationsproviding beam steering control and angular accuracy

A power amplifier occupies the last stage of the transmitter, while the LNA is the first stage of the receiver. As a result, the PA determines the overall transmitter distortion and the LNA limits the receiver sensitivity. Furthermore, the DC power consumption of the power amplifier is the largest determining factor of the overall efficiency of the T / R module. Though many component parts contribute to successful T / R module operations—phase shifters, attenuators, limiters—the amplifiers most strictly limit the modules transmit and receive performance. So, to optimize the performance of a T / R module, shown in Figure 5 used in a phased array application, engineers must start by characterizing the receiver LNA and transmitter PA.

Characterizing T / R module behavior places high demands on a test system’s performance and flexibility. The test system needs to support both transmit and receive test modes while maintaining accuracy and maximizing throughput.

In the demonstrations, Nizar showed how the ENA-X network analyzer, MXG signal generator, and modulation distortion (MOD) software work together to deliver accurately calibrated wideband signals needed for precise PA, LNA, and T / R module measurements. The integrated upconverter at port 1 of the ENA-X takes the modulated signal from the MXG and raises it to a maximum frequency of 44 GHz. The ENA-X’s wide dynamic range and vector error correction minimizes the test-set EVM, ensuring a clear assessment of the PA and LNA performance without any interference from the test set. For even faster characterization of the amplifiers, the ENA-X enables EVM with optional demodulation using the MOD software, which breaks down linear and nonlinear signal components with spectral correlation.

To simplify noise figure calibration, the ENA-X offers two integrated low-noise receivers to reduce fixturing and enable the ENA-X to measure the T / R module in either direction. By connecting and calibrating the test set just once, engineers collect standard network analysis measurements in conjunction with the cold-source noise figure.

In the next demonstration, Afsi, senior application engineer, and Dr. Joel, Keysight research fellow, demonstrated power amplifier characterization on the multiport PXI VNA. With similar features to the ENA-X network analyzer, the PXI VNA additionally offers a configurable platform ideal for manufacturing applications. During the demonstration, Dr. Joel highlighted the direct receiver access available on the PXI network analyzer. The direct receiver access allows engineers to loop booster amplifiers or directional couplers into the measurement while maintaining the quality of the incident modulated signal and the VNA calibration of the internal receivers.

Heather, application engineer, used the high performance Keysight PNA-X network analyzer wideband active load pull solution to test a power amplifier. Amplifier designers need to test their device under variable load conditions for robustness and degradation testing. Building on the capbilities of the modulation distortion software, Heather demonstrated how to use the PNA-X VNA and dual channel Keysight VXG signal generator to control the gamma load conditions across the entire modulation bandwidth while measuring low-residual EVM.

To achieve the wireless telepresence and massive connectivity promised in 6G, greater bandwidth and spectral efficiency are paramount. To develop 6G components that maximize bandwidth utilization, engineers need a test platform that handles additional noise power. In the final demonstration of Wireless Tech Days, Sarah Laselva, 6G marketing director, and Benjamin Schoch, research scientist from the University of Stuttgart, showed how the 6G Vector Component Analysis (VCA) solution characterizes H-band amplifiers under wideband modulated signal stimulus. The demo showcased the 6G VCA solution’s ability to move the test reference plane to that of the device under test, enabling greater performance measurement accuracy.

Joël Mertens, director Higg Product Tools Sustainable Apparel Coalition, joined a recent GreenBiz webcast sponsored by Environmental Defense Fund to discuss “How Circularity Can Help Advance Your Net Zero Strategy.” Hosted by Kori Goldberg, circular economy manager at GreenBiz, additional speakers included Andy Ruben, founder and executive director at Trove, Pete Edmunds, sustainability director at Deloitte, and EDF’s Thorfinn Stainforth, senior policy analyst at Environmental Defense Fund, and Elizabeth Strurcken, managing director.

The conversation was inspired by a new report from EDF and Deloitte, which outlines how companies can gain value and advance net-zero goals by transitioning to circular strategies – including reaching new markets and advancing climate outcomes.

After Sturcken introduced the report as the third in a collaborative series with Deloitte intended to help businesses make tangible progress towards their net-zero goals, Edmunds shared industry-specific circularity strategies for the textiles, packaging and automatic industries. He highlighted Lululemon’s plant-based nylon and the Loop reverse logistics programs, as well as the automotive industry’s shift to mobility as a service and battery reprocessing to meet demand from the growing EV market. Then, Ruben discussed a recent study on which Trove collaborated with Worldly, the exclusive licensee of the SAC’s Higg Index Tools, to determine the carbon savings of resale in comparison to rental and subscription.

Mertens emphasized the importance of pre-competitive collaboration in moving from commitment to action, stressing the success of this model in developing the Higg Index Tools. He shared that elements of circularity are embedded in the Higg Product Tools and provide a solid foundation for brands exploring circularity. However, he cautioned that brands should be careful about communicating circularity to consumers in the absence of impact measurements, as this can be construed as greenwashing.

Finally, Stainforth outlined circular policy developments in the EU, including their global impact, and three ways that companies can move faster and further on circularity.

Finding Opportunity at AfroTech 

Will Cleveland has always had a thing for analytics. Throughout his career, he’s been charged with figuring out strategies via content curation that give customers the data they need to make the best decisions possible. He’s always tried to make sure that people who look like him are empowered with information and opportunity. It’s his mission in life. As president of his former job’s Black employee resource group, he was able to present advancement opportunities for others while also helping the company advance in its diversity efforts.

It was during his attendance at AfroTech 2022 in Austin that he discovered he was destined to do even more on a greater scale.

“I love attending AfroTech. It feels like a safe space where I can see people who look like me and what they’re doing in tech to help us advance,“ Cleveland says. “I attended the Expedia Group panels and got to see the innovative things they’re doing to give their customers the power when it comes to travel. I wanted to be a part of that. I knew I wanted to join their team.”

Little did he know he would get that opportunity right away.

Expedia Group was looking for a social media manager who could focus on global insights and analytics. It felt like a perfect fit.

“It really felt like destiny. I saw that the job had just been posted the day before the conference and thought it was too good to be true,” Cleveland says with a smile. He immediately expressed his interest in the position and landed an interview. While going through the process, he discovered that not only was it a perfect fit, but Expedia Group would provide room for his vision.

Landing His Dream Job

“I came in with a plan,” Cleveland remembers. “They told me, ‘Here’s the bigger picture. Here’s our strategy. Here’s what we’re looking for.’ So my goal was to craft the role in a way that would help me shine, of course, help my team shine, but also make an impact for people globally while still driving from the strategy of the company.”

Today, as a manager of social media global insights and analytics, he wants to be clear that the company’s social media presence isn’t arbitrary. In his role, Cleveland gathers and analyzes insights from Expedia, Hotels.com and Vrbo’s social media channels to measure success and to help construct social strategies that resonate with all of the brands’ audiences.

“Powering global travel for everyone, everywhere isn’t just a slogan here,” Cleveland shares. “It’s important because different demographics need different attention. What might be working in some places or for some travelers might not work somewhere else. We are always strategic and forward thinking when it comes to how we plan and how our brands show up to ensure different regions and travelers are given the right attention. I come from a background where we didn’t always have the means or resources to take vacations, so being able to help drive strategies for inclusive travel resonates closely with me.

What Does the Day-to-Day Look Like for a Social Media Insights Manager?

Cleveland shares that a lot of people think that all he does is look at numbers and data all day. He loves doing that, but that’s definitely not all he does. He empowers those who might not have thought travel was a possibility, and sees himself as an example to those that might not see the need to be well-traveled.

Cleveland praises Expedia Group for providing professional development that helps him grow in his role. He says after being there for a little over a year, he hasn’t felt stagnant.

“We have check-ins with our managers and with HR to track our growth and talk about the good things that we are accomplishing,” Cleveland states. “I think that’s so important.”

What’s also important is his ability to travel. Being able to negotiate time away from the daily work helps create an important work life balance that allows him to remain energized to help others.

A Company Focused on Powering Travel for Everyone, Everywhere

“I talk about travel a lot, and I want people to know how important it is. Black people, especially,” Cleveland asserts. “There’s a stigma for Black people that we don’t travel that often. That we don’t go on luxury vacations. We have to change that, and hopefully I’m showing them that we can do it. And that we have to stay open to it.”

Cleveland cites how demonstrative Expedia Group is when it comes to advocacy as one of the best things about working there, saying he wasn’t used to companies showing up for people that looked like him. He remembers being drawn to the Black and Well-Traveled mission during Afrotech and the conversations around building a more inclusive travel industry and company for everyone. Since joining, he has seen how Expedia Group consistently raises awareness, invests in solutions, and supports marginalized communities, as evidenced by its Inclusion and Diversity report and Open World Accelerator program.

“We have different employee resource groups like The Black Expedia Allied Movement (BEAM) which I’m proud to be a member of. Through BEAM, I’ve been able to build meaningful connections with Black Expedians, volunteer in our community, and participate in events that facilitate professional development and advancement, and support the wellbeing of our community.”

Cleveland is excited to return to Afrotech and meet with others who are searching for their next big career move. He still sees it as a safe space to engage with people that look like him and share ideas that will help the tech world advance. “It’s a full circle moment. Now I’m able to help people who were in my shoes last year learn more about Expedia Group.”

What did you want to be when you grew up?

I was fascinated by space as a kid, but I dreamt beyond being an astronaut. I wanted to be the captain of a starship like the Enterprise from Star Trek!

First Job: In high school, I was a tele-surveyor. I cold-called households to take all kinds of surveys (and yes, we usually targeted calls during dinner time). I learned a lot about staying calm and having patience!

What moments, or who, in your life influenced the way you work?

My Parents

I learned the value of hard work, family and sacrifice from my parents who emigrated to the United States when I was very young. I saw both do what it took to provide for our family, my father having to reestablish his career from the bottom and my mother having to sacrifice her career to focus on the family. They were both selfless individuals, and it’s certainly a core value of who I am.

My High School Calculus Teacher

Math was always my favorite subject, but Mr. Murray demonstrated the importance of empowering students to learn. With a casual approach to life, he’d remind us that our math problems were miniscule in comparison to those of the world we lived in. He was certainly an influence in my calm and steady approach to high pressure situations.

My First “Real” Job as a Consultant

I joined a big management consulting firm after graduating college. A few months in, I was nearly part of a layoff, and it was an early wakeup call to reality. My time in consulting is when I learned to adapt quickly to environments, take on non-technology roles and build those critical “soft skills” required for career growth. It’s been the foundation for the rest of my career.

Do you believe in work/life balance?

I believe in integrating family, work and personal interests into life to adapt to the fast-paced, global and dynamic nature of our world. Add to it the different phases of our lives (single, married, kids, etc.), and integration makes more sense to me than simply balance. Where I allocate my time flexes depending on the need, and I am intentional to stay in the moment. That’s really the key to successfully integrating work and life.

What do people think you do versus what you actually do?

My family and friends still believe I singlehandedly took away the Mexican Pizza. Doesn’t seem like any of us at Taco Bell will shake that one anytime soon! Luckily, it’s back and here to stay.

Aside from moonlighting as tech support for family, in reality, I spend my time aligning the Taco Bell technology strategy to enable the overall brand strategy, developing a roadmap and executing against it. Much of my time is spent collaborating within Taco Bell and Yum!, as well as with our franchisees.

What is the best piece of advice that you’ve been given?

Speak your mind; people want to know.

HOW DO YOU DO IT?

I do my best to keep perspective and have a learning mindset in any situation or interaction I’m in. Since having kids, I’ve been amazed how much they’ve taught me about myself and how much more there is to learn. As long as I stay curious, I feel I’ll be able to adapt and get through any day.

In celebration of National STEM Day on November 8, Henkel launched an expansion of its Henkel Researchers’ World program at select Henkel sites in North America. The company hosted two Henkel Researchers’ World events for elementary school children in New Jersey and California who are family members of Henkel employees, as well as donated $10,000 to support STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) education in local public schools.

Henkel employees’ young family members participated in engaging science lessons hosted by research and development scientists at the company’s Bridgewater, NJ and Culver City, CA sites. The onsite activities were inspired by the curriculum of Henkel’s signature global education initiative Henkel Researchers’ World. The interactive science lessons included experiments for children to learn about how adhesives function, how to make paper from recycled materials, how surface tension relates to the formulation of soap, and more.

Henkel Researchers’ World was launched globally 12 years ago to introduce elementary school children to the world of science through hands-on interactive experiments and place them in the role of an actual researcher to inspire curiosity in science, reaching more than 90,000 children to date. In 2021, Henkel opened North America’s first dedicated Henkel Researchers’ World classroom in Stamford, CT, bringing the program to nearly 3,000 U.S. children to date.

“Through hands on science and sustainability lessons, we are helping to inspire the next generation of pioneers,” said Jennifer Schiavone, Vice President, Corporate Communications, Americas. “Henkel Researchers’ World provides an engaging, interactive resource to help build curiosity around STEM in local communities. With the help of DonorsChoose, we are thrilled to also directly support teachers in their own efforts to nurture a love for STEM in their classrooms.”

As part of its STEM Day support, Henkel donated $10,000 through DonorsChoose to aid teachers who are pursuing STEM education programs in the Bridgewater and Culver City areas. The donation funded projects that will support 35 teachers and serve nearly 5,000 students, with project goals such as purchasing new graphing calculators for a statistics class, elevating the technology in a robotics lab, building a roller coaster to demonstrate the laws of physics, adding sensory learning materials to elementary STEM programs, and more.

“I want to be able to provide my students with various materials that are a part of their everyday experiences so they can experiment with how things work on their own terms,” said a New Jersey teacher who has received funding through Henkel’s donation. “Preschoolers have a natural inclination to explore and manipulate their surroundings to see how things work. These materials will allow my students to explore cause and effect, discover how small changes can drastically alter the results, and foster a love of science and discovery that will stick with them for the rest of their lives.”

Ozy McDaniel hails from Kansas City but the United States Marine Corps took him a lot of places from 1977 to1985. He joined the Marines because his dad and uncles served in the military, but McDaniel didn’t realize the impact or meaning it would have on his life until later.

“The longer I stayed in and saw what it had to offer, I realized it served a bigger purpose than what I could’ve imagined,” he said. “It meant a lot to serve this country, and I would do it again if I had to.”

McDaniel is one of about 125 formerly homeless and/or disabled vets and their families who call St. Michael’s Veterans Center home. He moved five years ago into the Kansas City, Missouri, affordable housing development that features 117 apartments.

McDaniel is one of several residents who work in the onsite coffee shop where residents gather every morning.

“The stories people share here are my favorite,” he said. “I’ve found out most people here are like me. It’s good for me to be around them and it’s a nice play to stay.”

U.S. Bancorp Impact Finance has been involved with St. Michael’s from the start. For phases one and two, Impact Finance contributed more than $20 million in equity. Phase three construction will start in early 2024 and consist of 62 more units that will include one- and two-bedroom apartments.

“St. Michael’s is a special place,” said Lynn Craghead, who is the affordable housing project management team lead for Impact Finance and lives in Kansas City. “It provides the right mix of activity and tranquility needed for the veterans who live there. We’ve been an equity investor in the campus dating back to 2013 and it’s been a privilege to be a part of the impact the center makes on our local veterans and their families.”

Since 2013, Impact Finance has supported a range of housing for veterans nationwide, totaling over 3,600 units, and $575 million in equity and $588 million in debt commitments in investments.

According to Susan Engel, the center’s executive director, there are usually 50 to 100 people on the waiting list. She is one of many who are excited about the next phase so their reach can expand.

On a warm but windy November day, Engel walked around the campus and visited with McDaniel and several other residents who help in the coffee shop or with a monthly mobile food pantry.

Resident Frank Locknar, who served with the United States Navy from 1972 to1976, said he looks forward to giving back through the pantry. Produce and other goods are delivered by a regional food bank, and for those who can’t pick up the produce themselves, Locknar delivers it to their rooms.

“It forces me to be around people and help some of the residents who need it,” he said.

Locknar emphasized how much he loves St. Michael’s.

“I think this is the luckiest I’ve ever been,” he said. “This is a lifesaver. I am blessed to be here.”

A new teacher education series from Tata Consultancy Services’ Ignite My Future program is giving K-12 educators the information they need to prepare students for the careers of tomorrow.

“We hear a lot about the digital competencies educators need to teach effectively, but many students will pursue careers that don’t even exist yet,” said Serene Gallegos, Ignite My Future Senior Engagement Manager for TCS. “Ignite My Future is designed to help close that important gap with ’Tech Trends for Teachers,’ which provides K-12 teachers with the opportunity to learn — and share — tech innovations that will change the way the next generation will live and work.”

Last month, Ignite My Future held its first Tech Trends for Teachers event, one of six planned before June 2024. During the session, TCS Futurists Adam Boostrom and Alexandra Whittington shared exciting innovations such as digital twin technology.

Digital twins can help solve engineering, design, workflow and traffic problems, among other things. TCS recently demonstrated how the technology can even be applied to create digital replicas of the hearts of elite athletes to reveal secrets of good health and optimum performance. This advanced, problem-solving technology recreates a physical object or system in the virtual realm so planners and researchers can use real-time data insights to assess the impact of different circumstances and influences. Similar to a mathematical model, this helps them to “rehearse the future” by predicting and solving problems before they actually occur. According to a recent TCS study, digital twin technology is expected to become commonplace across business and society by 2035 and will be adopted most quickly in healthcare, mobility and retail, all areas that touch consumer lives every day.

“The steady march of technology shows no signs of slowing,” said Adam Boostrom, the TCS Futurist. “That’s why it’s incumbent upon all of us to stay informed about the tools and devices that will be used to both help and hinder our modern lives. For teachers, who have the power to impact whole generations, this is even more true.”

Tech Trends for Teachers is an ongoing professional development program that connects K-12 educators with TCS experts to explore hot topics in tech through quick 45-minute sessions, providing highlights on their history and expectations for their future. Ignite My Future is a pioneering TCS initiative to empower educators around the world through a unique approach that integrates computational thinking skills such as pattern recognition and algorithmic thinking into core subjects like math, science, literacy, social studies and the arts.

KeyBank Market President for Northwest Ohio, Dan Dower, has received the 20 Under 40 Award for his leadership and work throughout the community.

Each year since 1996, 20 young community leaders are nominated to receive the prestigious award. The leadership recognition program showcases dynamic leaders from Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan who are under the age of 40 who have distinguished themselves in their careers and/or in the community.

More than 100 people were nominated for the 2023 award.

Dower began his career at KeyBank in 2013 and was promoted to Market President in 2023. He is responsible for leading the bank’s activities and resources, its 200+ employees within the market and representing Key in the community. In 2022, he was promoted Commercial Sales Leader for Northwest Ohio and was the youngest of 25 peers across the country.

During the pandemic he originated over $40 million in fully forgivable PPP loans for his clients. He received the KeyBank “Star Performer” recognition for seven consecutive years from 2015-2021. A native of Bellevue, he began his career in his family’s building materials industry. He joined Huntington Bank in Toledo in 2010 and in under two years was managing an $80 million loan portfolio.

In the community, he serves as a board member of Imagination Station, board vice president and treasurer for Leadership Toledo and board member and coach for The Miracle League of Northwest Ohio. He co-led a capital campaign for the Miracle League that raised nearly $300,000 for improvements at their accessible baseball complex in Northwood. He is a Hall of Fame campaign manager for United Way of Greater Toledo.

In addition to honoring the recipients, the program is intended to help motivate young people throughout our area to become community leaders.

Baker Hughes is collaborating with Moog Inc. and others to develop key technology for future aircraft hydrogen fuel control systems.

Leveraging its extended portfolio of Druck pressure measurement technology and instrumentation, Baker Hughes will develop a bespoke dual pressure and temperature sensor, specifically designed to withstand the extreme range of operating temperatures to measure certain parameters of hydrogen, a critical process in the overall FETCH project. Baker Hughes will design, develop and manufacture its dual pressure and temperature sensors at its Druck facility in Groby, Leicestershire, U.K.

The FETCH project, led by Moog Inc., also comprises the University of Bath/IAAPS, Cranfield University, companies Curtiss-Wright Corporation’s Sensors Division and Carter Manufacturing. The project has secured match funding from the Aerospace Technology Institute (ATI) Program, a joint government and industry investment to maintain and grow the U.K.’s competitive position in civil aerospace design and manufacture.

The submission includes proposed GHG emissions reduction targets for Scopes 1, 2 and 3, against a 2021 baseline. This SBTi commitment stands as a significant addition to Otis’ existing public Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) objectives and underscores Otis’ dedication to combat climate change with decisive and principled action.

The science-based targets (SBTs) are founded on what the most up-to-date research identifies as critical for meeting the objective of the Paris Agreement to limit global warming to no more than 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels by 2030.
