APMEX raises $54,000 to Fight Hunger in Oklahoma

OKLAHOMA CITY, May 29, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — APMEX, a leading national precious metals retailer, proudly supported the Regional Food Bank’s mission of ending hunger through its annual Fun Week celebration, held May 5–9. The week brought together employees for spirited activities that combined fun with philanthropy, driving meaningful support for the local community.

Throughout the week, APMEX hosted engaging in-office events to raise funds and awareness, including raffles, food sales, a basketball shootout, dunk tank, video game competitions, a cornhole tournament, and more. These events encouraged team camaraderie and a shared commitment to giving back.

Thanks to the generosity and enthusiasm of its team, APMEX raised $54,000 to benefit the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma.

The week of giving culminated in hands-on volunteerism as numerous APMEX employees participated in the Stamp Out Hunger food drive on Saturday, May 10. This annual event, organized by the National Association of Letter Carriers, is the largest single-day food drive in the country. APMEX team members volunteered at local post offices, helping to sort and process food donations.

In total, APMEX volunteers helped sort approximately 39,960 pounds of food, providing an estimated 33,300 meals to Oklahoma families facing food insecurity.

“Every year, I’m inspired by the passion our team brings to Fun Week—not just in having fun, but in showing up for our community. Raising $54,000 and helping provide over 33,000 meals is a testament to what we can achieve together.” said Ken Lewis, CEO of APMEX.

$150,000 KeyBank Gift Supports Teen Mental Health and Wellness Throughout Hudson Valley

A $150,000 gift from KeyBank Foundation will support teen mental health and wellness initiatives over the next three years as part of Family Services’ Youth Programming. Funds will be used to develop innovative, enhanced after-school programming aimed at fostering healthy connections and preventing behavioral health challenges.

  • Meeting the changing needs of youth. Through partnership with KeyBank, Family Services is adapting their approach to youth programming in order to deepen impact and ensure that teens have the support they need to navigate today’s challenges and help repair the social emotional gap post-Covid.

  • Creative programming. Services will include group activities that increase protective factors, build resilience and encourage positive behavioral health as well as access to individual and family therapy services as needed.

  • Deepening Impact for Poughkeepsie Youth. Family Services will reach more than 100 youth, ages 11 to 18, in the inaugural year through after school, group-based activities at the Family Partnership Center as well as individual and family mental health services.

  • Dedicated staffing. A full-time Youth Social Worker, Family and Community Engagement Coordinator, and dedicated community partners will offer engaging and enriching group activities at a supportive ratio of 1 adult to 10 youth.

  • Amplifying reach. The Youth Social Worker will offer support to other community youth serving organizations, delivering mental health and social emotional programming to their participants, expanding the reach and impact of the program.

“Everyone needs a little help from time to time, especially the youth in our communities,” said John Manginelli, Hudson Valley/Metro NY President, KeyBank. “To support this program with Family Services, which provides teens with the resources they need in a way they will be receptive to receiving them, is a great way to promote KeyBank’s commitment to help people live well and thrive.”

“KeyBank Foundation is committed to supporting organizations and programs that prepare individuals for thriving futures. Family Services’ enhanced youth programming does just this. It is a transformative approach to teen behavioral health that helps kids realize their promise and aligns perfectly with our philanthropic priorities of neighbors, education and workforce,” said Eric Fiala, CEO, KeyBank Foundation.

According to a 2023 article by the US Center for Disease Control, in the 10 years leading up to the pandemic, feelings of persistent sadness and hopelessness in young people—as well as suicidal thoughts and behaviors—increased approximately 40% percent. In the Hudson Valley, the percentage of children with serious emotional disability grew from 15% to 38%.

Additionally, the City of Poughkeepsie continues to face gun violence; in 2024,16 people were shot, 6 of whom were teenagers. When youth face exposure to trauma such as community violence and other adverse childhood experiences, it can lead to significant behavioral health needs, poor social outcomes, health disparities and educational deficiencies if left unaddressed.

“At Family Services our north star is ensuring everyone has the right to thrive. For the youth we serve, that includes meeting increasing behavioral health needs,” said Leah Feldman, CEO, Family Services. “We’re grateful for KeyBank’s continued support and commitment to help us deliver on our reimagined model for improving mental health outcomes for teens so they can reach their fullest potential.”

Family Services is planning to welcome their first participants in the summer of 2025.

Recruitment for the new program will occur in several ways, including outreach to youth and parents involved in Family Services’ Teen Resource Activity Center programming, referrals from Poughkeepsie City School District, referrals from Family Services partner agencies within the Poughkeepsie Children’s Cabinet and community outreach.

For more information, visit the Family Services website at http://familyservicesny.org or call 845-452-1110 x3192.

  • Saves over $28,000 compared to traditional water costs.
  • Demonstrates leadership in environmental sustainability and drought resilience.

Thanks to the City of Wichita, community members, and groups such as Wichita Clean Streams for stepping forward to support the initiative. Botanica looks forward to sharing more innovative community projects soon.

The Wichita Gardens is open year-round with new surprises each season. With ever-changing scenery, educational classes for young and old, and special events to entertain and amuse, Botanica has a lot to offer!

PotlatchDeltic Supports Leadership Training Program

Strong leadership fuels organizational success. Recognizing the importance of cultivating leadership talent from within, PotlatchDeltic launched the Emerging Leaders Academy in 2024. Designed in collaboration with the University of Arkansas, this six-month intensive program equips high-potential employees with the confidence, skills, and network they need to thrive in future leadership roles.

The academy’s structure emphasized both learning and application. Over six months, participants engaged in interactive virtual sessions, each focused on a critical leadership skill, such as navigating change, fostering emotional intelligence, delegating effectively and leading resilient teams. Each session challenged participants to apply concepts in real time through role play scenarios, then reflect on their experiences in small-group discussions.

To cap off the program, participants gathered for an immersive in-person session at the University of Arkansas, where they had an opportunity to interact directly with PotlatchDeltic’s executive team, including CEO Eric Cremers, who shared insights on resilience and decision-making, highlighting the challenges leaders face. The experience wasn’t just about learning general leadership principles, it was about preparing managers to lead with confidence in real-world scenarios impacting our business.

PotlatchDeltic selected 15 high-performing managers from each division of our business. These individuals, each managing at least one direct report, represented different locations and business units. Bringing together leaders from different backgrounds not only enriched discussions but also accelerated real-world application.

The impact of the Emerging Leaders Academy was immediate: one participant, who was promoted shortly after completing the program, was equipped with the skills, confidence, and network to succeed in his new role. Many attendees reported immediate application of skills, particularly in handling difficult conversations and navigating change. In addition to leadership skills, participants had a chance to build connections with other leaders in our company, exchange ideas and form lasting professional relationships. With these new connections and skills in place, the momentum for leadership growth continues to build.

Based on the program’s strong reception, PotlatchDeltic is set to launch a second cohort of the Emerging Leaders Academy in 2025, keeping the small-group format to promote deep engagement. By investing in structured, high-impact training like this, PotlatchDeltic is preparing individuals for leadership roles, which we believe is a fundamental part of building a stronger, more resilient company for the future.
