Funds help nonprofit partners provide disaster relief and assistance with rebuilding and recovery

THE WOODLANDS, Texas, July 11, 2024 /3BL/ – Entergy Texas is pleased to announce a shareholder commitment of $125,000 to the American Red Cross to help support relief efforts for those affected by Hurricane Beryl in Southeast Texas. This contribution will help facilitate the provision of essential services such as shelter, food, medical care and other vital resources to assist those affected by the hurricane in their recovery process.

Hurricane Beryl’s impact has been substantial, leading to widespread damage and displacing many individuals in the area and across the state. The level of damage brought by the Category 1 hurricane underscores the urgent need for assistance and resources to aid those grappling from the storm’s impact.

The latest Bovaer® (3-NOP) announcement comes at a critical time to meet consumer demand for more sustainable foods. Research shows feeding one tablespoon of Bovaer per lactating dairy cow per day can reduce methane emissions about 30% or approximately 1.2 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) emissions annually.¹ Feeding a million cows Bovaer is equivalent to removing 285,000 cars off the road for a year.² Reducing methane reduces the rate of climate warming.

United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

GoDaddy is a member of the United Nations Global Compact and is committed to supporting its Ten Principles and to reporting our progress toward the SDGs annually. We are proud of the progress we made toward the six SDGs where we believe our company has the greatest opportunity for impact. We’ve detailed this progress below.

SDG 5: Gender Equality Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.

Our culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) is core to our business. GoDaddy was among the first companies to announce and publish our pay parity results, and we’re proud to achieve gender pay parity (globally) for the ninth year in a row and ethnicity pay parity (in the U.S.) for the seventh year in a row.14 We disclose detailed information on our gender diversity progress in our annual Sustainability Report. 
 

SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy for all.

SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization, and foster innovation.

We believe that GoDaddy’s products and services enable digital microbusinesses to thrive, thereby supporting local and regional economic growth globally. We aim to operate our data centers that fuel our products and services as sustainably as possible by streamlining and consolidating operations to reduce our overall energy usage. We also procure renewable energy, where possible, to cover our data center operations. Since 2019, our EMEA data centers used 100% renewable energy through purchasing Guarantees of Origin. In 2023, our Phoenix data center was also covered by 100% renewable energy from renewable energy credits. 
 

SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth Promote sustained, inclusive, and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment, and decent work for all. 

SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities Reduce inequality within and among countries.

We believe that inclusive entrepreneurship helps fuel local economies globally, increases generational wealth, decreases wealth gaps, and ultimately improves lives. We work to serve diverse entrepreneurs no matter their age, race, gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic background, location, or other experience, or identity. Through Empower by GoDaddy, our signature social impact program, we help underserved small and micro-business owners grow their businesses online and in-person. We served nearly 2,900 entrepreneurs in communities across the U.S., Canada, Germany, and the U.K. through 250 workshops and more than 1,450 one-on-one mentorship sessions. 
 

SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all, and build effective, accountable, and inclusive institutions at all levels.

Our corporate governance framework lays the foundation for effective oversight and management accountability. Our commitment to conducting business with honesty and integrity is captured in our Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, which goes hand in hand with our DTRT trainings. We also offer an Ethics Helpline where anyone can report any violations of company policies, our Code, or the law. GoDaddy takes an unsparing stance when it comes to hosting Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM). We do not allow content that sexually exploits or endangers minors. To help protect children, we use several tools and systems to prevent or rapidly detect and remove illegal CSAM from our platforms. GoDaddy is a member of the Tech Coalition, a collaborative effort among industry leaders to prevent and eradicate online child sexual exploitation and abuse. This year may be the most impactful yet in the short history of iHope China. In Changsha, Hunan Province, the program’s leaders recently announced plans to deepen its impact by increasing reagent donations and expanding its coverage area.

Since its inception in 2022, iHope China has embodied its namesake for families dealing with rare genetic diseases. The program was established by the Special Fund for Diagnosis and Treatment of Genetic Diseases under the March of Dimes Birth Defects Foundation of China, and it receives support from the Illumina Corporate Foundation and Give2Asia.

In collaboration with key hospitals across the country, iHope China has made significant strides. It provides free genetic testing to families with rare disease patients and offers systematic training in genetic disease diagnosis to front-line clinicians nationwide. By mid-May 2024, the program had helped 513 families in collaboration with seven hospitals, ensuring valuable treatment opportunities for many children.

Addressing the issue of limited access to timely health care for grassroots patients in remote areas, the program has also implemented volunteer clinics at participating hospitals.

iHope China’s reach promises to be extensive in 2024, covering 13 provinces and cities in China. By the end of the year, the program aims to support 1800 families with rare diseases through genetic testing and during the kick-off event, more than 200 clinicians joined the offline genetic counseling workshop. This training includes guidance on the entire diagnostic process, from technology selection to report interpretation.

Early screening and diagnosis of rare disease are critical for improving patients’ prognoses. Professor Wu Lingqian, director of the Department of Genetics in the School of Life Sciences at Central South University in Changsha, says, “The level of awareness of rare diseases among front-line clinicians is crucial to the ultimate benefit of tens of millions of rare disease families in China. The program’s expansion and increased medical education efforts mean more patients will benefit from an enhanced rare disease prevention and treatment system.”

Xue Jingjie, secretary general of the March of Dimes Birth Defects Foundation of China, notes the program’s role in enhancing early diagnosis, providing timely treatment, and supporting families both psychologically and financially. “With the support of strong national policies, medical advancements, and broad public opinion, the early diagnosis rate of rare diseases in China is improving. The iHope China program has been dedicated to educating patients and their families about rare diseases and providing comprehensive support,” Xue says.

According to a study published in the European Journal of Human Genetics, 71.9% of known rare diseases are caused by genetic variations, and nearly 70% manifest in childhood.1 Over the past decade, whole genome sequencing has become increasingly vital for enabling timely and accurate diagnosis of genetic disease, and increasing treatment time for children with rare diseases.

To ensure treatments are effective across diverse populations, we strive for equitable representation in genomic data. This effort helps reduce biases and improves medical outcomes for a broader range of patients.”

Jenny Zheng, Illumina senior vice president and general manager of the Greater China region, adds, “The iHope China program reflects our commitment to expanding genomics accessibility and reducing the burden of disease on patients. In China, we uphold the spirit of ‘genomics for good,’ driving public welfare through technological innovation and collaboration with partners. Our goal is to expand hope for more families with rare diseases through science and care.”

Guided by the mission of contributing to China’s goals for preventing disease, the program will continue to bolster clinical acumen in diagnosing and treating rare diseases. It will also harness the collaborative strengths of philanthropic organizations, medical institutions, and enterprises, thereby amplifying public awareness and fostering societal advocacy for rare diseases.

DUBLIN, July 11, 2024 /3BL/ – Intelligent power management company Eaton (NYSE:ETN) released its 2023 Sustainability Report and standalone Global Inclusion and Diversity Transparency Report. The publications feature the company’s progress toward its 2030 environmental, social and governance (ESG) targets and in creating an inclusive workplace. 

As the ESG regulatory landscape continues to evolve, Eaton is leaning forward—its 2023 Sustainability Report showcasing more transparency and reporting rigor than ever before. Likewise, the company’s Inclusion and Diversity Report shares several employee success stories and reveals how an inclusive culture can achieve better business results. 

Highlights from Eaton’s sustainability report include:

Reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 31%, up from 27% in 2022, in its operations since 2018 through energy efficiency projects, energy conservation, and shifts to renewable energy. Eaton’s goal is to reduce 50% of GHGs from its operations by 2030.Certified 79% of manufacturing sites as zero waste to landfill, up from 75% in 2022. This moves the company closer to its goal to certify 100% by 2030. Certified 16% of manufacturing sites as zero water discharge, up from 8% in 2022, surpassing its goal to certify 10% of its sites in water-stressed areas by 2030. Invested $1.3 billion in research and development for sustainable solutions since 2020, up from $900 million in 2022, and progressing toward its goal to spend $3B by 2030.

Highlights from Eaton’s I&D report include:

Increasing the representation of women in salaried positions across the enterprise to nearly 28% and U.S. minorities to more than 24%, against 2030 aspirational goals of 40% and 34%, respectively.Increasing the employee inclusion index score—a gauge of employees’ sense of inclusion—to 77%, bringing Eaton closer to its aspirational goal of 80%.Maintaining a strong representation of women and U.S. minorities on the board of directors and senior leadership team.
