Albertsons Companies’ Southern division team at Tom Thumb in DeSoto, Texas hosted an amazing Juneteenth community celebration! The team partnered with local, Black-owned businesses, brands, musicians, performers and more to showcase the diversity and richness of our culture.

It was a joy to see our shoppers and associates enjoy grilling inspiration and special tastes of brisket, pulled pork and other delicacies from Ron Bates of Twisted BBQ, live music from Steven Brown Jazz, performances from the 40+ Double Dutch Club, and samples from 10+ local, Black-owned brands like Earl Campbell’s, Glory Foods, and more! Guests also enjoyed samples from Neale’s Sweet N Nice Ice Cream, Luzianne Tea, and Southern Recipe Small Batch.

We also had the honor of welcoming Dione Sims, the granddaughter of Opal Lee, who is known as the grandmother of Juneteenth and a leader of the movement to make it a federal holiday.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this remarkable event and supported our Black-owned vendors.
