This week, in acknowledgment of the contributions and dedication of young professionals in its workplace, Aramark is recognizing its brightest, young talent with the third annual Aramark 40 Under 40 Awards, presented by the Aramark Young Professionals (AYP) employee resource group (ERG).

Hundreds of Aramark’s young professionals were nominated for their impact on Aramark and their line of business, broader industry influence, and community outreach. A dedicated advisory committee reviewed the nominees and selected the 40 winners who will participate in professional development programming hosted by the AYP ERG, which aims to connect, engage, and empower young professionals and their allies through a network that cultivates future leaders.

“Every year, I’m amazed at the talent and professionalism of our AYP 40 Under 40 awardees. These individuals are a true embodiment of our mission of being rooted in service and doing great things for our people, our partners, our communities, and the planet. Additional Recognition

This year, AYP will recognize two Aramark employees with two new awards, the “Trailblazer Award” and the “MVP Award,” which will be given during the 40 Under 40 Awards ceremony. The AYP Trailblazer Award celebrates an employee who has significant tenure with the company, was a previous member or leader within AYP ERG, and continues to “blaze a trail” for Aramark’s young professionals. Greg Lennox, Senior Director of Corporate Communications, will be recognized with this award.

The Aramark Young Professionals “MVP Award” celebrates an employee who has made significant contributions to AYP and serves as an ambassador for the ERG. This person has held a leadership or committee member role within the ERG for more than one year and consistently supports the overall mission and goals of the group. The recipient is chosen through a voting process amongst the AYP leadership team and this year’s recipient is Heather Goodman, Communications Specialist in Corporate Communications.

Aramark Young Professionals (AYP) was established to connect, engage, and empower young professionals and their allies. This ERG provides a network that cultivates future leaders and enhances the capabilities of Aramark’s fastest-growing workforce segment. The ERG engages in professional development and volunteer opportunities throughout the year and has seen a 28% growth in membership over the past fiscal year. Most recently, AYP co-sponsored an MLK Book Drive with Aramark LEAD ERG and Aramark Community Relations and collected over 900 books to support school students in Chicago, Dallas, Denver, and Philadelphia.

Fredericia, Denmark, is known for its vast forests and many beautiful stretches of coastline, and it is home to Covia’s only operation in Europe. Covia Europe’s core business is high-end resin coated ceramics, in the form of custom coatings, including resin coated ceramics for the oil and gas market and polymer coated sand for use as infill for artificial turf.

Operating in a country that is considered a hub for sustainable innovation, our Team Members in Denmark are leveraging cutting edge technologies to reduce our carbon footprint. In fact, the facility in Fredericia is targeting a 70% absolute reduction in GHG emissions by 2030. 

Ongoing emissions-reducing initiatives aimed at achieving this target include:

Using high-efficiency blowers in production processes;Sourcing at least 40% of electricity from wind turbines;Phasing out all existing forklifts in favor of electric-powered units; and Procuring required materials locally to decrease transportation emissions.

Importantly, these ambitious initiatives by our Team Members in Denmark will also help identify and test solutions that could be applied more broadly across our operations.

Quest Diagnostics is proud to support Americares in their efforts to improve health for people affected by poverty or disaster with a grant from Quest for Health Equity (Q4HE).

Americares is a health-focused relief and development organization and one of the world’s leading nonprofit providers of donated medicine and medical supplies. Each year, Americares reaches 85 countries on average, including the United States, with life-changing health programs, medicine, medical supplies and emergency aid.

With a grant from the Quest Diagnostics Foundation, Americares will build capacity, strengthen health systems, and advance health equity in the national free and charitable clinic sector. Specifically, Q4HE will support funding for telehealth support, chronic disease management and wellness, and donated testing to support 10 safety net clinics across the United States.

During a special week for the laboratory company–Medical Laboratory Professionals Week, an annual celebration of essential frontline laboratory staff–Quest hosted senior leaders from Americares at its Wood Dale, Illinois facility. Groups of employees could be seen wearing fun matching attire while the smell of freshly popped popcorn wafted throughout the building. After a private tour of the lab led by Barbara Heredia, Laboratory Manager at Quest, the Americares team enjoyed a conversation with Matt Hamlin, Vice President and General Manager of Quest’s Great Midwest Region, and Michael Floyd, Senior Director & Leader, Quest for Health Equity, about the impactful collaboration between both organizations.

“Quest had the honor of hosting the Americares team, sharing an inside look at our complex laboratory operations at Quest,” said Floyd. “Learning more about the Americares mission and their collaborations across the Midwest geography was inspirational. I am proud Quest is playing an important role in ensuring all people have access to quality healthcare.”
