Lease of the Liberty Magona business unit is now effective, opening a new phase for one of Italy’s historic producers of cold-rolled, galvanized and pre-painted steel

LUGANO, Switzerland and BERTRANGE, Luxembourg, Oct. 05, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Trasteel Holding S.A. (“Trasteel” or the “Company”), a global steel trading and industrial group (the “Group”) headquartered in Lugano (Switzerland) and Luxembourg, today announced that Trasteel Magona S.r.l. (“Trasteel Magona”), a newly established Group company set up specifically for this transaction, has taken over the operations of the La Magona d’Italia steel plant in Piombino (Tuscany, Italy), following the effectiveness of the lease agreement for the business unit of Liberty Magona S.r.l. (“Liberty Magona”).

The lease agreement, signed on July 29, 2026, became effective on October 1st, 2026, and will remain in force until December 31, 2027, at the latest. The lease is intended as a first step towards the integration of the business, which has already been contractually agreed and will be completed upon conclusion of the restructuring process initiated by Liberty Magona through the filing with the Court of Florence of a restructuring plan subject to court approval.

The transaction received clearance under Italy’s Golden Power regulations on September 14, 2026, and antitrust clearance from the European Commission on September 29, 2026 (press release).

Founded more than 150 years ago, La Magona d’Italia is one of the historic names of the Italian steel industry and a reference producer of cold-rolled, galvanized and pre-painted flat steel products for customers in Italy and Europe. With the start of the lease, Trasteel Magona will ensure the continuity of the plant’s operations, safeguarding approximately 500 jobs.

Production will restart gradually, in line with a phased plan, with the objective of bringing the plant back to full operation and reaching a production capacity of over 500,000 tonnes per year by the end of 2027.

Trasteel Magona will leverage the Group’s global sourcing, logistics and commercial platform to support continuity, reliability and quality of supply to the plant’s customers.

The Piombino plant complements Trasteel’s Industrial Division, which comprises 13 companies in 6 countries and processes over 800,000 tonnes1 of steel products per year, including pipes, plates, coils and rebar.

Management Commentary

“Today marks the beginning of a new chapter for La Magona”, said Gianfranco Imperato, CEO of Trasteel. “After several difficult years for the plant, our goal is to bring value back to Piombino’s steel industry and restore Magona to the role it has held for more than a century and a half in the Italian and European steel industry. We strongly believe in the relaunch of the plant and, above all, in the people who work there. Production will restart step by step, supported by the strength of Trasteel’s global sourcing, logistics and commercial platform.”

“This transaction evidences Trasteel’s ability to source and consummate transactions in a competitive environment,” said Steve Salis, Chairman and CEO of Sizzle II. “We are confident in their ability to execute on their business plan to increase shareholder value for the long term.”

Quarter included presentation at H.C. Wainwright Global Investment Conference, strategic partnership with Alpmed, new regulatory registrations, and continued physician training

NEW YORK, Oct. 05, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Baird Medical Investment Holdings Ltd. (“Baird Medical” or the “Company”) (NASDAQ: BDMD), a medical device company focused on the development and commercialization of minimally invasive treatment technologies, today highlighted key business and operational developments from the third quarter of 2026, including expansion into new international markets, continued physician training initiatives and the addition of irreversible electroporation (IRE) technology to its broader technology portfolio through a strategic partnership.

“During the third quarter, we continued to execute on the priorities that we believe will drive Baird Medical’s long-term growth, including extension of our geographic reach, strengthening physician adoption and broadening our technology portfolio, while continuing to share our exciting story with the investment community,” said Haimei Wu, Chairwoman and CEO of Baird Medical. “These milestones reflect the progress we are making to build a more diversified global business and create additional opportunities for growth.”

Presenting Baird Medical’s Growth Strategy at H.C. Wainwright

In September, Baird Medical participated in the H.C. Wainwright Global Investment Conference in New York, where U.S. CEO Mark Saxton and Chief Strategy Officer Daphne Huang shared details on the Company’s progress and plans for continued growth.

The presentation highlighted Baird Medical’s expanding U.S. presence, growing adoption of its microwave ablation (MWA) technology and plans to build on its established international business. Management also discussed the Company’s efforts to expand its technology portfolio and reach more physicians and patients across a broader range of markets.

“Our focus this quarter was on execution, including bringing our technology into new markets, working directly with physicians, and adding new capabilities to our portfolio,” said Mark Saxton, U.S. Chief Executive Officer of Baird Medical. “At H.C. Wainwright, we had the opportunity to share that progress with investors and discuss where we see the business going from here. The work underway across our U.S. and international operations gives us a strong foundation as we head into the final months of the year.”

Expanding the Technology Portfolio Through Alpmed Partnership

In August, Baird Medical entered into a strategic partnership with Alpmed focused on the global development and commercialization of next-generation irreversible electroporation (IRE) technology.

The partnership adds another minimally invasive treatment modality alongside Baird Medical’s existing MWA business and provides a path to introduce IRE technology across international markets. The collaboration is part of the Company’s effort to build a broader portfolio of technologies for physicians performing minimally invasive procedures.

Advancing Regulatory and Commercial Expansion in International Markets

Baird Medical also made progress expanding the availability of its MWA technology in new markets during the quarter.

In August, the Company received registrations from the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) for its BD-GT microwave ablation system and T-1610 microwave ablation needle. The registrations allow Baird Medical to bring these products to the Pakistani market and represent another step in the Company’s international expansion.

The Company also marked the completion of first procedures using its MWA technology in Vietnam and Argentina during the quarter, extending the use of its technology into two additional markets.

Connecting with Physicians at Global Medical Conferences

Baird Medical continued its engagement with the international medical community during Q3 through participation in major industry meetings, including the Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe (CIRSE) 2026 Annual Congress and the Asia Pacific Society of Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology (APSCVIR) Annual Scientific Meeting.

These meetings provided opportunities for the Baird Medical team to connect directly with interventional radiologists and other specialists from around the world, exchange clinical experience, present the Company’s technology in live settings, and discuss developments in minimally invasive treatment.

Expanding Hands-On Physician Training

Physician education remained an important area of focus during the quarter, with Baird Medical supporting training programs in both the U.S. and China.

In the U.S., the Company supported hands-on MWA training in New Orleans, where participating physicians observed procedures and gained practical experience with MWA techniques and applications.

In China, Baird Medical hosted a four-day MWA Master Class for Vietnamese physicians at The Eighth Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, combining clinical observation and hands-on training across multiple MWA applications.

Looking Ahead

As Baird Medical enters the fourth quarter of 2026, the Company remains focused on expanding its presence in key markets, supporting physician education and training, and advancing a broader portfolio of minimally invasive treatment technologies.

The Company expects to continue building on the clinical, commercial, and strategic progress achieved during the third quarter as it works to bring its technologies to more physicians and patients worldwide.

About Baird Medical

Baird Medical is a global, pioneering medical device company specializing in minimally invasive ablation technologies for a range of solid tumors. The Company’s lead product, a microwave ablation (MWA) system, is FDA-cleared for soft tissue ablation and is being launched in the U.S. primarily for the treatment of benign thyroid nodules. In addition, the Company is expanding its minimally invasive technology portfolio, including IRE-based products and an AI-powered robotic ablation system.

Baird Medical’s MWA solutions have been adopted by a growing number of leading U.S. institutions and private practice groups, including the Mayo Clinic, Columbia University Medical Center, and The George Washington University Hospital. The company is rapidly expanding its global commercial footprint, with sales now reaching markets across multiple continents.

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., Oct. 05, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Revolution Medicines, Inc. (Nasdaq: RVMD), a global, commercial-stage oncology company dedicated to discovering, developing and delivering innovative medicines for patients with RAS-addicted cancers, today announced that it has begun treating patients in RASolute 309, a global, randomized Phase 3 clinical trial evaluating the combination of RASONQUE (daraxonrasib), a RAS(ON) multi-selective inhibitor, and zoldonrasib, an investigational RAS(ON) G12D-selective inhibitor, as a first-line treatment in adult patients with metastatic RAS G12D pancreatic adenocarcinoma (PDAC).

“RAS G12D is the most common RAS variant in PDAC,” said Alan Sandler, M.D., chief development officer of Revolution Medicines. “In preclinical studies, the combination of RAS(ON) multi-selective and G12D-selective inhibitors achieved deeper and more sustained suppression of RAS signaling than either agent alone, accompanied by greater tumor control. Likewise, initial clinical data showed that RASONQUE plus zoldonrasib delivered compelling antitumor activity in patients with previously treated metastatic PDAC, with a manageable safety and tolerability profile. In the context of the unmet need in this patient population, these findings informed the design of the first-line RASolute 309 trial in patients with PDAC. RASolute 309 is the first Phase 3 study evaluating a RAS(ON) inhibitor doublet approach and it marks an important milestone in our efforts to advance a range of potential treatment options for patients with RAS-driven cancers across tumor types and treatment settings.”

RASolute 309 (NCT07805954) is a global, randomized, open-label Phase 3 trial evaluating RASONQUE plus zoldonrasib compared with gemcitabine and nab-paclitaxel (GnP) as a first-line treatment in adult patients with metastatic RAS G12D PDAC. The dual primary endpoints are progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival. Key secondary endpoints include PFS, objective response rate, duration of response, safety and tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and patient-reported outcomes.

About Pancreatic Adenocarcinoma

Pancreatic adenocarcinoma, or PDAC, is the most common form of pancreatic cancer and among the most challenging malignancies. Approximately 55,000 people are diagnosed with PDAC in the U.S. each year, and more than 50,000 die from the disease.1,2 Because early-stage pancreatic cancer often causes few or no symptoms, approximately 80% of patients are diagnosed after the disease has spread, when treatment options are more limited. For patients with metastatic PDAC, the five-year relative survival rate is approximately 3% in the U.S.3,4 RAS G12D is the most prevalent RAS mutation subtype in PDAC, occurring in 40% of patients.5

About Zoldonrasib

Zoldonrasib is an investigational, oral, RAS(ON) G12D-selective, covalent tri-complex inhibitor that binds to cyclophilin A, creating a binary complex that binds to and inhibits the active, oncogenic RAS(ON) G12D mutation. RAS G12D is the most prevalent RAS mutation, accounting for 29% of all RAS-driven cancers.5 Across tumor types, approximately 61,000 new patients with RAS G12D cancers are estimated each year in the U.S., and no targeted therapy is currently approved for these patients.6 Zoldonrasib is currently being evaluated as a monotherapy and in combination with other therapies, including with RASONQUE, Revolution Medicines’ RAS(ON) multi-selective inhibitor, as well as standard of care regimens in lung and gastrointestinal cancers.

About RASONQUE™ (daraxonrasib)

RASONQUE (daraxonrasib) is an oral, RAS(ON) multi-selective, noncovalent, tri-complex inhibitor, approved by the U.S. FDA for the treatment of adult patients with metastatic pancreatic adenocarcinoma (PDAC) who have received at least one prior systemic therapy or who are not candidates for multiagent systemic therapy.7 RASONQUE is being investigated through a global Phase 3 registrational program in patients with PDAC and metastatic RAS mutant non-small cell lung cancer. Outside the U.S., RASONQUE is an investigational agent that has not been approved by any regulatory authority.

U.S. FDA APPROVED INDICATION

RASONQUE is indicated for the treatment of adult patients with metastatic pancreatic adenocarcinoma who have received at least one prior systemic therapy or who are not candidates for multiagent systemic therapy.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION FOR U.S. APPROVED INDICATION

RASONQUE is associated with the following Warnings and Precautions: Dermatologic and Soft Tissue Toxicity, Stomatitis and Oral Disorders, Diarrhea, Gastrointestinal Perforation, Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD)/Pneumonitis, and Embryo-Fetal Toxicity.

Serious adverse reactions occurred in 30% of patients treated with RASONQUE. Serious adverse reactions occurring in ≥ 2% of patients treated with RASONQUE were diarrhea (3.7%), pyrexia (3.3%), sepsis (2.9%), fatigue (2.1%), and hemorrhage (2.1%).

The most common (≥ 20%) adverse reactions in patients treated with RASONQUE were rash, diarrhea, stomatitis, nausea, fatigue, vomiting, abdominal pain, edema, decreased appetite, and hemorrhage.

From Patient to National Program Ambassador: Sylas’s Story

At age 13, what first appeared to be a biking accident became a life-threatening medical emergency. The impact forced part of Sylas’s jaw into his skull and caused internal bleeding. He was urgently transferred to BC Children’s Hospital, where a specialized team provided the critical care he needed.

Thanks to the Air Canada Foundation’s Hospital Transportation Program, Sylas and his family travelled between Cranbrook and Vancouver for surgeries, scans and ongoing treatment. By covering the cost of travel, the program removed a significant financial and logistical burden, allowing his family to focus on his recovery.

“These flights were such a godsend for us. Everything was covered, and it was all done with so much softness and care. It not only eased the financial burden, but it also eased my heart. It meant I could show up for Sylas in every way he needed, without wondering how we were going to manage each trip,” said Jen, Sylas’s mom.

Today, Sylas is 15 and thriving. He is starting Grade 11, works at a local golf course in Kimberley, B.C., and enjoys golfing, mountain biking, camping and spending time on the water. As the 2026 Air Canada Foundation National Hospital Transportation Program Ambassador, Sylas represents the hundreds of children and families who rely on the program to access essential medical treatment far from home.

About the Hospital Transportation Program

For more than 20 years, the Air Canada Foundation’s Hospital Transportation Program has helped children and youth access essential medical care away from home. Powered by Aeroplan point donations and delivered in partnership with 17 partners, including all pediatric hospitals across Canada, the program helps families reach specialized treatment that isn’t available in their community.

When a child needs medical care far from home, travel can add significant financial, emotional and logistical challenges to an already-difficult time. By reducing these barriers, the program helps families focus on what matters most: their child’s health and well-being. Each year, millions of donated Aeroplan points help connect families to life-changing and, in many cases, life-saving care, while providing peace of mind when it matters most.

Together with our partners and the generosity of Aeroplan Members, we’re helping ensure that distance is never a barrier to the care that children need.

About the Air Canada Foundation

The Air Canada Foundation, a not-for-profit organization focused on the health and well-being of children and youth, was launched in 2012. It offers both financial and in-kind support to Canadian-registered charities. Core programs include the Hospital Transportation Program (HTP), which redistributes Aeroplan points to partners of the Air Canada Foundation HTP, including 15 pediatric hospitals across the country, Hope Air and the David Foster Foundation. All donated points enable sick children to access the medical care they need away from home. The Air Canada Foundation, in collaboration with the airline, also engages directly in fundraising activities, such as the Every Bit Counts program that encourages customers to donate loose change of all denominations on board flights or through collection containers available in Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounges. The Foundation also offers continued support to major health-related causes that benefit Canadians and is an active participant in international humanitarian relief activity as the need arises. For more information about the Air Canada Foundation, please read the 2025 Impact Report.

  • The BB-301 pivotal trial remains on track to begin in mid-2027
  • Discussions regarding an open-label, single-arm, pivotal study for BB-301 are ongoing, and based on these discussions, the FDA requested additional available data, including data from the Benitec-sponsored OPMD Natural History Study
  • Final pivotal study design expected to be confirmed in 1Q 2027
  • Benitec will present interim clinical results from the ongoing BB-301 Phase 1b/2a study as a late-breaking poster presentation, which will encompass 12-month follow-up data for all six Cohort 1 patients and interim follow-up data for all three Cohort 2 patients, at the European Society of Gene and Cell Therapy (ESGCT) Annual Congress in Hamburg, Germany, October 27-30, 2026

HAYWARD, Calif., Oct. 05, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Benitec Biopharma Inc. (NASDAQ: BNTC) (“Benitec” or the “Company”), a clinical-stage biotechnology company developing disease-modifying genetic medicines based on its proprietary “Silence and Replace” DNA-directed RNA interference (ddRNAi) platform, today announced the receipt of formal feedback from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) following the Type C meeting in 3Q 2026.

Discussions regarding an open-label, single-arm, pivotal study for BB-301 are ongoing, and based on these discussions, the FDA requested additional available data, including data from the Benitec-sponsored OPMD Natural History Study. The FDA has agreed to review the relevant information on a timeline that would allow Benitec to confirm the final pivotal study design in 1Q 2027.

Timelines for the BB-301 pivotal study remain on track. Patient enrollment is planned to begin in mid-2027.

“We greatly appreciate the collaboration from the FDA and are encouraged by the constructive nature of our discussions” said Jerel A. Banks, M.D., Ph.D., Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Benitec. “The OPMD natural history study was designed from the outset to provide a rigorous foundation for the clinical development of BB-301, and the additional available data requested by the Agency represent an important final component of this ongoing development work. We look forward to providing these data to the FDA in the coming weeks and confirming the pivotal study design for BB-301 in the first quarter of 2027. With the comprehensive body of clinical and natural history data generated to date, we remain on track to initiate the pivotal study in mid-2027 and are focused on advancing BB-301 toward becoming the first approved disease-modifying therapy for patients living with OPMD-related dysphagia.”

Benitec will present interim clinical results from the ongoing BB-301 Phase 1b/2a study as a late-breaking poster presentation, which will encompass 12-month follow-up data for all six Cohort 1 patients and interim follow-up data for all three Cohort 2 patients, at the European Society of Gene and Cell Therapy (ESGCT) Annual Congress in Hamburg, Germany, October 27-30, 2026.

About OPMD

There are currently no approved therapies for OPMD, a rare autosomal-dominant degenerative muscle disorder, that impacts nearly 15,000 patients in North America, Europe and Israel. OPMD is caused by a mutation in the poly(A)-binding protein nuclear 1 (PABPN1) gene; PABPN1 is a ubiquitous protein that controls the length of mRNA poly(A) tails, mRNA export from the nucleus and alternative poly(A) site usage. OPMD is a debilitating progressive disease that weakens the pharyngeal muscles, causing severe swallowing difficulties (dysphagia).1 Progressive dysphagia impacts 97% of OPMD patients and is a severe, life-threatening complication of OPMD which can lead to chronic choking, malnutrition, aspiration pneumonia and death.

About BB-301

BB-301 is a novel, modified AAV9 capsid expressing a unique, single bifunctional construct promoting co-expression of both codon-optimized Poly-A Binding Protein Nuclear-1 (PABPN1) and two small inhibitory RNAs (siRNAs) against mutant PABPN1 (the causative gene for OPMD). The two siRNAs are modeled into microRNA backbones to silence expression of faulty mutant PABPN1, while allowing expression of the codon-optimized PABPN1 to replace the mutant with a functional version of the protein. BB-301 is administered locally, in a one-time procedure, to the muscles in the throat that drive the swallowing process, an approach designed to maximize local benefit and minimize systemic exposure. We believe the silence and replace mechanism of BB-301 is uniquely positioned for the treatment of OPMD by halting mutant PABPN1 expression while simultaneously providing a functional replacement protein. BB-301 has received Orphan Drug Designation from the EMA and Orphan Drug and Fast Track Designations from the FDA and is currently being evaluated in a Phase 1b/2a, first-in-human, open-label dose escalation study to evaluate the safety and clinical activity of intramuscular doses of BB-301 administered to subjects with OPMD (NCT06185673).

About Benitec Biopharma Inc.

Benitec Biopharma Inc. (NASDAQ: BNTC) is a clinical-stage biotechnology company developing disease-modifying genetic medicines designed to improve the lives of people with life-threatening, genetically defined diseases. The company’s proprietary “Silence and Replace” DNA-directed RNA interference (ddRNAi) platform combines RNA interference, or RNAi, with gene therapy to create medicines designed to facilitate sustained silencing of disease-causing genes and simultaneous delivery of replacement genes that restore normal cellular function following a single administration. The company’s lead investigational candidate, BB-301, is the first and only disease-modifying genetic medicine in clinical development for the treatment of Oculopharyngeal Muscular Dystrophy (OPMD)-related dysphagia.

About SeaStar Medical

SeaStar Medical is a commercial-stage healthcare company focused on transformational treatments for critically ill patients facing organ failure and potential loss of life. SeaStar Medical’s first commercial product, QUELIMMUNE (SCD-PED), was approved in 2024 by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). It is the only FDA approved product for the ultra-rare condition of life-threatening Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) due to sepsis or a septic condition requiring renal replacement therapy (RRT) in critically ill pediatric patients. SeaStar Medical’s Selective Cytopheretic Device (SCD) therapy has been awarded Breakthrough Device Designation for six therapeutic indications by the FDA, enabling the potential for a speedier pathway to approval and preferable reimbursement dynamics at commercial launch. SeaStar Medical is currently conducting the NEUTRALIZE-AKI pivotal clinical trial of its SCD therapy in adult patients with AKI requiring continuous renal replacement therapy, a life-threatening condition with no effective treatment options that impacts over 200,000 adults in the U.S. annually.

Complete assay highlights, including true width estimates, are presented in Table 1. Vertical depths are measured from modelled topographic surface to the interval mid-point. Drill hole locations and orientations are listed in Table 2. Intervals not recovered were assigned zero grade. Top cuts have not been applied to high grade assays.

Cut-off assay composites from ongoing infill drilling at the 1290 Level, presented in plan in Figure 5 and in cross section in Figures 6-9, show a degree of spatial correlation with modelled reserve stopes; intercepts outside these areas suggest potential for resource conversion and upside mineralization.

ABOUT LOWHEE ZONE

Geological mapping and geochemical sampling were carried out on Barkerville Mountain from 2017-2018, with the Lowhee Zone identified as a high-priority drill target. From 2019 to 2022, a total of 167 surface drill holes were completed, totaling 54,494.5 m.

The Lowhee Zone is accessed through the Cow portal on the northwestern flank of Barkerville Mountain (Figure 3 and Figure 4). Cow portal construction was completed in Q4 2024 and development of the underground ramp into the Lowhee Zone commenced in Q1 2025. The probable mineral reserves estimate for the Lowhee Zone (with an effective date of April 10, 2025) includes 104,491 ounces of contained Au (923,162 tonnes grading 3.52 g/t Au) and represents approximately 5% of the total contained gold in the estimated probable mineral reserves for the Cariboo Gold Project.

ABOUT CARIBOO GOLD PROJECT

The Cariboo Gold Project is a permitted, 100%-owned feasibility-stage project currently under construction located in the historic Wells-Barkerville mining camp of central British Columbia, Canada. Spanning approximately 186,740 hectares, the Company’s land package includes 443 mineral titles and covers an area that extends approximately 77 kilometres from northwest to southeast. In late 2024, the Project was granted the Mines Act and Environmental Management Act (British Columbia) permits, marking the successful completion of the permitting process for key approvals. On September 14, 2026, the Company announced a formal positive decision to proceed with the construction of the Project, with an expected first gold pour in Q1 2029 and commercial production in H2 2029.

Qualified Persons

The scientific and technical information in this news release has been reviewed, verified and approved by Scott Smith, P. Geo., Vice President, Exploration of Osisko Gold, a “qualified person” within the meaning of NI 43-101. Verification includes core photo and three-dimensional review of logged drillhole data and assays consistent with the Company’s standard procedures.

Quality Assurance (QA) – Quality Control (QC)

All drill core was whole core sampled in on-site logging facilities following daily QAQC checks for logging and sampling errors. Quality control (QC) samples are inserted at regular intervals in the sample stream, including blanks and reference materials with all sample shipments to monitor laboratory performance. Samples are bagged, labelled, sealed with numbered security tags.

Samples are taken by expeditor from the logging facilities direct to MSALABS’s analytical facility in Prince George, B.C., Canada, for preparation and analysis. MSALABS is independent of the Company. The MSALABS facility is accredited to the ISO/IEC 17025 standard for gold assays, and all analytical methods include quality control materials at set frequencies with established data acceptance criteria. The entire sample is dried, crushed, and split into sealed containers. Analysis for gold is by gamma ray analysis using the Chrysos PhotonAssay (PA1408X). Samples are bombarded with gamma rays and the resulting signal is sent to the detectors.
