SASKATOON, Saskatchewan, Nov. 02, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — GFG Resources Inc. (TSXV: GFG | OTCQB: GFGSF) (“GFG” or the “Company”) is pleased to outline Barrick Gold Inc.’s (“Barrick”) planned 2026–2027 exploration activities at the Pen Gold Project (“Pen” or the “Project”) located southwest of Timmins, Ontario. Following an initial US$500,000 exploration program in 2026, Barrick is planning an expanded exploration program in 2027, combining property-wide geophysics, systematic till sampling and geological mapping to prioritize targets for initial diamond drilling, currently anticipated for the fourth quarter of 2027.

Under the earn-in agreement announced on August 25, 2026, with GFG, Barrick is funding and operating the exploration programs at Pen. Within the first three years, Barrick has a firm commitment to spend at least C$4.0 million, including a minimum of 5,000 metres of diamond drilling before the third anniversary (see news release “GFG and Barrick Sign Strategic Earn-In to Accelerate Exploration at the Pen Gold Project”).

Program Highlights:

  • Expanded exploration program planned for 2027, building on the initial US$500,000 investment in 2026 and focused on systematic target generation and advancement toward initial diamond drilling.
  • Property-wide airborne gravity survey planned for Q4 2026 to support geological and structural interpretation.
  • An aggressive base-of-till (“BOT”) drill program of approximately 240 drill holes is proposed for Q1 2027 to define and refine anomalies and vector to their bedrock sources.
  • Geological mapping and rock sampling planned for Q2/Q3 2027, supported by on-going data integration and target evaluation.
  • Diamond drilling is tentatively planned for Q4 2027, with potential to continue into the first half of 2028. The start date remains tentative.

“Barrick’s proposed program brings significant funding and technical expertise to the next phase of exploration at Pen,” stated Brian Skanderbeg, President and CEO of GFG. “The scale of the planned BOT till program, combined with property-wide geophysics and detailed mapping, will help refine and vector to the source of existing anomalies as well as generate new target areas; with the priority targets advancing toward diamond drilling. This provides our shareholders a compelling opportunity to participate in discovery at Pen, while GFG focuses our own capital on growing Aljo and driving for discovery on a spectrum of targets across the Goldarm property.”

Building the Geological Framework in 2026

Barrick’s initial work program includes reviewing and validating existing data, reinterpreting geology and undertaking field mapping and rock sampling. Initial mapping and rock sampling programs were completed in September and October. A total of approximately 130 rock samples were collected and will be analyzed and incorporated into Barrick’s reinterpreted geological model. Community introductions and permitting activities are also part of the initial work programs.

During the fourth quarter of 2026, Barrick has proposed to complete a fixed-wing airborne gravity survey over the full property, using north–south flight lines spaced approximately 200 metres apart. The results will support interpretation of the underlying geological architecture and structures and guide target generation beneath cover.

Systematic Till Sampling and Target Development in 2027

The proposed 2027 program includes approximately 190 BOT holes in priority areas along with approximately 50 BOT infill holes to follow up on historical results. This work is intended to refine the distribution of gold anomalies and vector toward potential bedrock sources.

Further mapping and rock sampling are planned for the second and third quarters of 2027. Barrick intends to integrate these observations with geophysical, till geochemistry and existing drilling results to produce updated geological and structural interpretations. This work will be the basis of prioritizing targets for drilling.

Initial diamond drilling is currently planned for the fourth quarter of 2027. The scope and timing of future exploration activities remain subject to confirmation and may be refined as exploration results and target priorities develop.

A Broad Pipeline of Exploration Opportunities

The exploration plan identifies a range of targets across Pen, including Muskego, Chabot, Slate Rock, Crawford, Deerfoot and Reeves, alongside earlier-stage opportunities. Barrick’s assessment highlights structurally complex areas with associated gold-in-till anomalies extending over several kilometres and mineralized trends with sparse drilling or limited testing at depth.

The planned program is designed to evaluate these opportunities systematically and identify the strongest targets for drill testing. GFG expects to provide further updates as program details are confirmed and exploration advances.

Specialty insurance builder to lead GBLI, Katalyx and Belmont and put the Company’s proprietary technology and national distribution to work

WILMINGTON, Del., Nov. 02, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — The Board of Directors of Global Indemnity Group, LLC (NASDAQ: GBLI) (“GBLI” or the “Company”) today appointed Jessica E. Buss Chief Executive Officer of GBLI and of its two operating platforms, Katalyx Holdings LLC and Belmont Holdings GX, Inc., effective immediately. Ms. Buss joined GBLI’s Board on October 26, 2026, and remains a director. She succeeds Joseph W. “Jay” Brown, GBLI’s chief executive officer since 2022.

Ms. Buss spent most of her career building specialty insurance businesses. As CEO of GuideOne Insurance, she doubled premiums. She also led Argo Group and Open Lending as CEO. At Open Lending, she also served as Chairman of the Board and chaired its Audit Committee prior to becoming CEO. Earlier, as COO and CFO of Rockhill Insurance, she led its sale to State Auto Mutual for 1.6x book value, then ran State Auto Mutual’s $1.5 billion commercial and specialty division. She is a Certified Public Accountant and holds the NACD Directorship Certification.

Ms. Buss’s mission is to scale a platform Fox Paine spent 23 years assembling and put GBLI’s A-rated paper to work for agents, wholesale partners and new specialty underwriting teams. GBLI’s five insurance carriers carry an “A” (Excellent) rating from AM Best, unbroken for more than 23 years, and its underwriters own a 23-year record of top-quartile loss ratios. GBLI reaches the market through more than 350 wholesale agency offices, 12,000 retail agents and its direct-to-consumer platform. Over the last four years, GBLI developed Kaleidoscope, its proprietary underwriting, policy and data platform, now rolling out to its agency partners. GBLI also equips Kaleidoscope with AI-enabled underwriting that evaluates and prices risks outside traditional binding authority. Ms. Buss leads Katalyx’s expansion into excess and surplus lines managing general agencies across wholesale, retail and direct-to-consumer channels.

“GBLI built what most specialty insurers can only buy or borrow: proprietary underwriting technology, a national agency network and five A-rated carriers behind every policy we write. A platform like that demands a builder, and Jessica builds. She took GuideOne past $1 billion in premium and created a $400 million E&S business along the way. She knows how to make money in specialty casualty, how to attract first-rate talent and how to use technology to grow faster and run leaner than the competition. That is the leader GBLI needs to turn its platform into a far larger franchise. I thank Jay Brown for his vision, his service and his support of this transition,” said Saul Fox, founder and Chairman of GBLI and founder and CEO of Fox Paine & Company, whose affiliate is GBLI’s largest shareholder.

“Four years ago, Saul Fox asked me to move from GBLI’s Board to the CEO’s office and prepare GBLI for a market that rewards disciplined underwriting backed by competitive technology as AI tools mature,” said Mr. Brown. “With Kaleidoscope now rolling out to our agency partners, Jessica takes over at the right time. As a shareholder, I am confident GBLI has a strong, profitable growth path ahead.”

Ms. Buss said, “GBLI has what matters most in specialty insurance: disciplined underwriting, strong carriers, deep agency relationships and technology built for this market’s future. My job is to build on it. I look forward to working with our team, our agents and our partners to make GBLI one of the leading specialty franchises in the country. I also thank Jay for his leadership and for his help with this transition.”

NEW YORK and TORONTO, Nov. 02, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Brookfield Asset Management (NYSE: BAM, TSX: BAM) (“Brookfield”) and Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (“CPP Investments”), today announced the completion of their acquisition of LXP Industrial Trust (“LXP”) in an all-cash transaction.

The transaction values LXP at approximately $5.2 billion, including net debt and preferred equity. Under the terms of the agreement, LXP shareholders will receive $61.20 per share in cash. As the transaction has now been completed, LXP’s shares no longer trade on the New York Stock Exchange and LXP is a privately held company.

LXP’s portfolio comprises 107 industrial properties spanning approximately 52 million square feet in attractive markets in the Sunbelt and Midwest. The properties benefit from strong occupancy and long-duration leases that generate durable cash flows and are well positioned to benefit from demand for modern, high-quality logistics properties. These assets will be integrated into Brookfield’s global logistics platform, which spans more than 255 million square feet across over 850 properties in 20 countries.

“This acquisition reflects our conviction in the long-term fundamentals of the U.S. industrial sector,” said Lowell Baron, Chief Executive Officer of Brookfield Real Estate. “We are acquiring a portfolio of modern logistics assets at an attractive basis in markets benefiting from strong demand for large-scale distribution facilities with limited supply. Combined with durable in-place cash flows, embedded rental growth and our operating expertise, these dynamics create a compelling opportunity to drive value for our investors.”

“The acquisition of LXP adds a high-quality, scaled portfolio of modern logistics properties to our diversified portfolio of U.S. real estate investments,” said Sophie van Oosterom, Managing Director, Head of Real Estate at CPP Investments. “With strong occupancy and exposure to key distribution markets, we believe LXP is well positioned to capture further value as logistics markets evolve, supporting attractive long-term returns for the CPP Fund.”
