  • First new FDA-approved treatment option in nearly 20 years for families living with Hunter syndrome, a rare neurodegenerative disorder
  • Denali’s brain delivery technology establishes foundation for potential therapies across wide range of diseases that impact the brain, including Alzheimer’s disease

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., Oct. 30, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Denali Therapeutics Inc. (Nasdaq: DNLI) today announced that AVLAYAH® (tividenofusp alfa-eknm) has been recognized as the “Best Biotechnology Product” of 2026 by The Galien Foundation. AVLAYAH is the first biologic approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that is specifically designed to cross the blood-brain barrier and reach the whole body, including the brain. AVLAYAH is an enzyme replacement therapy that received FDA accelerated approval in March 2026 for the treatment of neurologic manifestations of a rare neurodegenerative disease called Hunter syndrome (mucopolysaccharidosis type II, or MPS II) when initiated in presymptomatic or symptomatic pediatric patients weighing at least 5 kg prior to advanced neurologic impairment. Continued approval for this indication may be contingent upon verification of clinical benefit in a confirmatory study.

The Galien Foundation, which fosters and recognizes excellence in scientific innovation that improves the state of human health, presented the 2026 Prix Galien USA “Best Biotechnology Product” award to Denali Therapeutics during a ceremony last night at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City. Prix Galien USA Awards are among the highest honors in the global biopharmaceutical industry, acknowledging the most impactful treatments approved by the FDA within the last five years. Prix Galien winners are selected by committees of the top leaders in science and medicine.

“We are honored to receive the Best Biotechnology Product Award for AVLAYAH, which is a culmination of years of pioneering research to solve the challenge of delivering biologics across the blood-brain barrier with our TransportVehicle technology,” said Ryan Watts, Ph.D., co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Denali Therapeutics. “This recognition also belongs to the Hunter syndrome community and the families, advocates and clinicians whose determination and commitment made AVLAYAH possible. An FDA-approved medicine that reaches the brain offers transformative possibilities for this community, and it is proof that we can bring the power of biologic medicines to the brain for rare genetic diseases and common neurodegenerative disorders that affect millions of people worldwide.”

Denali’s proprietary TransportVehicle™ technology binds to the transferrin receptor (TfR) and is designed to deliver enzymes, antibodies and oligonucleotides to the whole body, including the brain, through receptor-mediated transcytosis. AVLAYAH is the first and only FDA-approved TfR-enabled medicine engineered to specifically cross the blood-brain barrier.

Denali Therapeutics is advancing a growing portfolio of TransportVehicle-enabled therapeutic candidates across all stages of development, including zafinofusp alfa, an investigational enzyme replacement therapy for the treatment of mucopolysaccharidosis type IIIA (Sanfilippo syndrome type A), and two investigational medicines for Alzheimer’s disease (AD) that target the two defining pathologies of the disease. DNL628 (OTV:MAPT) is an Oligonucleotide TransportVehicle-enabled antisense oligonucleotide designed for systemic delivery across the blood-brain barrier to reduce tau by targeting the MAPT gene for the treatment of AD. DNL921 (ATV:Abeta) is an Antibody TransportVehicle-enabled antibody designed for systemic delivery across the blood-brain barrier to target amyloid plaques in AD.

About Hunter Syndrome (MPS II)

Hunter syndrome, also known as MPS II, is a rare genetic lysosomal storage disorder that primarily affects boys and impacts approximately 500 individuals in the United States and 2,000 individuals worldwide. The disease is caused by mutations in the iduronate 2-sulfatase (IDS) gene that results in a deficiency of the IDS enzyme, which is responsible for breaking down glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) such as heparan sulfate and dermatan sulfate. The accumulation of GAGs leads to progressive damage in multiple organs and tissues, including the brain. Symptoms of Hunter syndrome include developmental delays, cognitive decline, behavioral abnormalities and physical complications such as joint stiffness, hearing loss and organ dysfunction.

About AVLAYAH® (tividenofusp alfa-eknm)

AVLAYAH (tividenofusp alfa-eknm) is an intravenous enzyme replacement therapy composed of the iduronate 2-sulfatase (IDS) enzyme fused to Denali’s proprietary TransportVehicle™ (TV) platform. The Fc component of AVLAYAH binds to the apical domain of the transferrin receptor (TfR) and delivers IDS to peripheral tissues and to the central nervous system through receptor-mediated transcytosis across the blood-brain barrier. AVLAYAH is internalized via binding to the mannose-6-phosphate receptor on the cell surface and transported into lysosomes where it is thought to exert enzymatic activity and reduce accumulated glycosaminoglycans (GAGs). In addition, since TfR is ubiquitously expressed, it is expected that the interaction of AVLAYAH and TfR will contribute to its uptake into cells in the brain and peripheral tissues. In addition to Rare Pediatric Disease Designation and Breakthrough Therapy Designation, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration granted Fast Track and Orphan Drug designations to AVLAYAH for the treatment of MPS II.

The European Medicines Agency has granted Priority Medicines designation to tividenofusp alfa. AVLAYAH is not approved by health authorities outside of the U.S.

AVLAYAH U.S. Indication

AVLAYAH is approved for the treatment of neurologic symptoms in pediatric patients weighing at least 5 kg with Hunter syndrome prior to advanced neurologic disease. This approval is based on a reduction of heparan sulfate (HS) in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) surrounding the brain and spinal cord. Studies are ongoing to confirm how well it works in improving clinical symptoms.

Limitations of Use

AVLAYAH is not recommended for use in combination with other enzyme replacement therapies.

About the Denali TransportVehicle™ Platform

The blood-brain barrier (BBB) is essential in maintaining the brain’s microenvironment and protecting it from harmful substances and pathogens circulating in the bloodstream. Historically, the BBB has posed significant challenges to drug development for central nervous system diseases by preventing most drugs from reaching the brain in therapeutically relevant concentrations. Denali’s TransportVehicle™ (TV) platform is a proprietary technology designed to effectively deliver large therapeutic molecules such as antibodies, enzymes and oligonucleotides throughout the whole body, including the brain, by crossing the BBB after intravenous administration. The TV platform is based on engineered Fc domains that bind to specific natural transport receptors, such as transferrin receptor and CD98 heavy chain amino acid transporter, which are expressed at the BBB and deliver the TV and its therapeutic cargo to the brain through receptor-mediated transcytosis. In animal models, antibodies and enzymes engineered with the TV platform demonstrate more than 10- to 30-fold greater brain exposure than similar antibodies and enzymes without this technology. Oligonucleotides engineered with the TV platform demonstrate more than a 1,000-fold greater brain exposure in primates than systemically delivered oligonucleotides without this technology. Improved exposure and broad distribution in the brain may increase therapeutic efficacy by enabling widespread achievement of therapeutically relevant concentrations of product candidates. The TV platform has been clinically validated, with AVLAYAH® (tividenofusp alfa-eknm) as the first FDA-approved medicine leveraging transferrin receptor to cross the BBB.

About Denali Therapeutics

Denali Therapeutics Inc. is a biotechnology company pioneering a new class of biotherapeutics designed to cross the blood-brain barrier (BBB) using its proprietary TransportVehicle™ platform. With the first FDA-approved biologic specifically designed to cross the BBB, a clinically validated delivery platform and a growing portfolio of therapeutic candidates across all stages of development, Denali is advancing toward its goal of delivering effective medicines to transform life for people with neurodegenerative diseases, lysosomal storage disorders and other serious diseases. Dallas, TX, Oct. 30, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Vivakor, Inc. (Nasdaq: VIVK) (“Vivakor” or the “Company”), an integrated provider of energy transportation, storage, reuse and remediation services, today announced receipt of a signed, nonbinding letter of intent (“LOI”) from the operator of a major Texas international airport, to negotiate a lease for approximately 12.9 acres at the airport for a proposed hydrogen production plant and fueling station.

The proposed development would expand Vivakor’s energy infrastructure platform into airport fueling services. The October 14, 2026 LOI also allows for consideration of additional land if necessary.

Vivakor envisions a phased development, beginning with hydrogen and compressed natural gas (“CNG”) fueling infrastructure. The proposed facility would support the airport operator’s planned acquisition of 10 hydrogen-powered buses while providing CNG fueling capabilities for its existing vehicles. Additional airport transportation and airline ground support vehicles represent potential future applications.

A second phase would involve the proposed development of an on-site hydrogen production plant using airport-generated organic waste, including food waste and sewage sludge, as potential feedstock. The concept would connect waste generated by airport operations with hydrogen fuel used in those same operations, creating opportunities to expand production and distribution as demand develops.

The proposed project would extend Vivakor’s environmental services strategy into an additional transportation fuel market, building on the resource recovery focus of its Remediation Processing Center initiative.

“This is a significant new opportunity that our team has been working to advance for some time,” said James H. Ballengee, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Vivakor. “The proposed development connects an initial airport fueling need with our longer-term vision of recovering value from waste to produce transportation fuel. We look forward to working with the airport operator to advance lease discussions, site planning and required approvals.”

The proposed lease and development remain subject to negotiation of definitive agreements, Federal Aviation Administration (“FAA”) approval, required airport reviews and written approvals, and compliance with applicable local, environmental and safety requirements.

An Equipment Innovator’s Interest in Kraig’s High Tech Fibers Indicates Potential Applications for Lightweight and/or Tough Materials, and Possibly Elevate Project Atlas

DENVER, Oct. 30, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — (www.247marketnews.com)— Kraig Biocraft Laboratories (OTCQB: KBLB) has put its recombinant spider silk in the hands of a company with experience developing materials alongside major aerospace manufacturers. The shipment opens an intriguing avenue for a biological fiber whose combination of strength, flexibility, and toughness has long attracted engineering interest.

In its October 26 announcement, Kraig said the unnamed recipient that requested the samples is known for developing advanced yarn-spinning equipment. The company also launched a program to create new yarn constructions and material blends for fabrics, apparel, and other applications.

The development follows Kraig’s September delivery of custom spider-silk yarn to a globally recognized performance sports brand. That order was processed to the customer’s specifications for a particular performance-textile application, establishing a commercial starting point for the company’s broader materials ambitions.

We are still waiting to know who received it, how it did and what they made with it!

The recent recipient’s aerospace background makes that sector a credible area for exploration. A specific aerospace application or contract has not been disclosed. Knowing what Spider Silk can do may open up many more possibilities.

“Spider silk is a material that will earn its place through performance,” Kraig founder and CEO Kim Thompson said in the October 26 announcement.

Understanding that performance begins with the distinction between strength and toughness.

  • Tensile strength measures how much pulling stress a material can withstand.
  • Toughness measures the energy it absorbs before breaking.

Spider silk’s ability to carry a substantial load while stretching gives it an unusual combination of both.

Darwin’s bark spider offers a striking natural benchmark. In the original study of its silk, forcibly collected fibers averaged approximately 350 megajoules per cubic meter in toughness, with individual samples reaching 520. Its exceptional ability to absorb energy helped establish the species as an important subject for advanced-materials research.

For aerospace engineers, that combination suggests possibilities in lightweight materials designed to tolerate impact and damage.

The interest already has an industry precedent. In 2018, Airbus announced work with biomaterials company AMSilk to explore artificial spider-silk composites. Airbus identified flexibility and shock resistance as reasons to investigate the material, including potential uses in aircraft areas exposed to debris or bird strikes and protection for space equipment. Those were research objectives, providing a concrete example of why aerospace developers have considered silk-based materials.

One promising approach is to combine silk with other reinforcing fibers. Carbon fiber offers high stiffness and strength; silk could contribute additional energy absorption. Adjusting the combination could help engineers balance the properties needed for a particular component.

A 2019 study demonstrated that principle using wild silkworm silk and carbon fiber in epoxy composites. One hybrid configuration achieved approximately twice the impact strength of the carbon-fiber composite tested alongside it. Increasing the silk content favored impact performance, while more carbon fiber generally favored stiffness and strength. The experiment used Antheraea pernyi silk, offering evidence for the hybrid-material approach rather than a measurement of Kraig’s recombinant fibers.

Project Atlas adds a further possibility to Kraig’s development path.

In January 2025, Kraig Labs announced that its researchers had incorporated key genetic sequences derived from Darwin’s bark spider silk proteins into engineered silkworms. The approach connects an exceptional natural material with a production system based on established silkworm cultivation.

In September 2026, Kraig reported completing the foundational Project Atlas Gene Library, establishing every planned Atlas transgene in living commercial silkworm hosts. The next phase focuses on stable breeding lines and evaluating more than 200 potential genetic configurations. The company’s stated objectives include enhanced strength, toughness, and flexibility, ultimately combining the full suite of Atlas genetics in a production strain.

If Atlas produces fibers approaching the toughness of natural Darwin’s bark spider silk, it could expand the range of demanding applications worth pursuing. The decisive evidence would be the measured properties of those fibers and how well their performance carries through into finished yarns and composites.

That is where the new yarn-development program becomes particularly relevant. Genetics can influence the proteins within a fiber, while yarn construction and blending help determine how the fiber performs in a usable material. An equipment specialist’s involvement could help connect those stages.

For Kraig, the opportunity is to develop materials around specific customer needs, with both biological design and textile engineering contributing to the result. Its commercial yarn delivery provides a starting point. The latest sample shipment brings relevant industrial expertise into the picture. Atlas could eventually supply a new generation of fibers for that work.

500 Patients, 30 Hospitals, 3 Countries is Part of the Setup

DENVER, Oct. 30, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — (247MarketNews.com) — In a market where the latest whizbang trends often dominate investor attention, NeOnc Technologies Holdings (NASDAQ:NTHI) is pursuing something considerably more meaningful: advancing potential treatments for some of the most difficult-to-treat brain cancers while building a clinical development program that could eventually reach hundreds of patients internationally.

Now, the company is putting some impressive numbers behind that ambition.

During its appearance on Health Uncensored with Dr. Drew on Fox Business Network, NeOnc outlined plans for a pivotal clinical trial targeting approximately 500 patients across 30 hospitals in three countries. The proposed expansion represents a substantial step forward for a company seeking to address one of oncology’s most persistent challenges: getting potential treatments where they need to go inside the human brain.

For the market, the story brings together several potentially important ingredients: an innovative drug-delivery approach, encouraging but preliminary clinical observations, two investigational drug programs, international development ambitions, and a potentially intriguing stock-market setup involving substantial short interest.

The science is the foundation, the patients are the reason, and the possibility that Wall Street could eventually take notice adds another dimension to the story.

A 500-Patient Ambition That Changes the Conversation

A proposed clinical trial involving approximately 500 patients across 30 hospitals in three countries is not a small undertaking.

It represents a planned expansion of NeOnc’s clinical ambitions and an opportunity to investigate its treatment approach in a much larger patient population, as the scale of the proposal signals where management wants to take the program.

At the center of that effort is NEO100, NeOnc’s investigational treatment being evaluated for its potential role in brain cancer.

The challenge it seeks to address is formidable. The blood-brain barrier serves as the brain’s natural protective defense system, but that protection also creates a major obstacle for drug developers. Many potential therapies struggle to reach tumors in sufficient concentrations because of this biological barrier.

NeOnc is investigating a different approach.

Its NEO100 program uses intranasal administration, designed to deliver therapy through the nasal pathway toward the brain while bypassing the blood-brain barrier.

In other words, the company isn’t simply investigating what treatment might work. It is also investigating how to get that treatment where it needs to go.

That distinction could be important in a field where drug delivery remains one of the biggest obstacles to therapeutic progress.

Early Clinical Observations Give the Story a Foundation

The proposed international expansion comes against the backdrop of earlier clinical observations that have attracted attention.

In its December 2025 clinical update, NeOnc described significant radiographic remission in six of 25 patients across its combined clinical and compassionate-use experience, representing approximately 24%.

For a company pursuing treatments for difficult brain cancers, that is an encouraging observation worth following.

The company’s appearance on Dr. Drew’s program also brought the patient experience into the conversation.

One patient described reaching two years on therapy and reported tolerating treatment without reactions. During the discussion, when Dr. Drew asked about the tumor’s status, physician Dr. Wallace responded, “We can’t see it, actually, at this moment.”

It was a striking moment, illustrating why continued research in this field matters.

For families facing aggressive brain cancer, the objective isn’t simply another clinical milestone or a better number on a presentation slide. It is more time together. Another birthday. Another anniversary. Another opportunity to experience everyday life.

Those individual experiences cannot establish clinical efficacy, but they help explain the enormous human stakes behind NeOnc’s research.

More Than One Drug: A Broader Development and Technology Story

NEO100 isn’t the only component of NeOnc’s development strategy.

The company is also advancing NEO212, which completed its Phase 1 dose-escalation work. A November 17 FDA meeting is scheduled for an important regulatory discussion concerning potential Phase 2 development, including study design, patient population, dosing and endpoints.

Together, the two programs give NeOnc multiple development milestones to pursue.

The company’s ambitions also extend beyond conventional drug development.

Its research platform combines patented 3D bioprinting technology with artificial intelligence to create patient-derived tumor models and help researchers evaluate potential treatments.

This approach could support a more personalized understanding of tumor biology and treatment response.

The company has also highlighted molecular characteristics, including IDH mutations, as part of its precision-medicine strategy.

For investors, the broader takeaway is that NeOnc is building a story around multiple interconnected capabilities: drug development, innovative delivery, tumor modeling and AI-assisted research.

Meanwhile, its international ambitions have been reinforced by developments in Abu Dhabi, including the appointment of Ali Alabedin, Head of Islamic Banking Group at First Abu Dhabi Bank, to the company’s board.

These developments add an international dimension to a company whose clinical ambitions are increasingly extending beyond a single market.

Now Comes the Interesting Part for Traders: Potential Short Squeeze

While the clinical story is compelling on its own, NTHI also has another ingredient that could make its shares particularly interesting to traders: short interest.

Based on the October 15 Nasdaq market-data, approximately 877,000 shares were reported short.

At the same time, the stock has recovered from an approximate $2.50 low to eclipse the $3 level.

Put those figures together and the potential trading implications become interesting.

The reported short position represents approximately 5.6 days of trading volume at that ten-day average. If short sellers needed to cover 500,000 shares over a relatively short period, that would represent more than three full days of average trading volume. That is a meaningful amount of potential buying demand.

Strategic Combination Brings Highly Innovative Late-Stage D-Fi Franchise Targeting Rare Diseases, with Orphan Drug-Designated Lead Indication in Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa (DEB)

Combines Two Complementary Platforms Across Therapeutic Modalities: Castle Creek’s Fibroblast-Based Cell and Gene Therapy Technology with Pelthos’ Novel Platform

DURHAM, N.C. and EXTON, Pa., Oct. 30, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Pelthos Therapeutics Inc. (NYSE American: PTHS) (“Pelthos” or the “Company”), a biopharmaceutical company committed to commercializing innovative therapeutic products for unmet patient needs, and Castle Creek Biosciences, Inc. (“Castle Creek”), a late-stage company developing redosable gene therapies, today announced they have entered into a definitive agreement under which Castle Creek will merge with Pelthos. The combination creates a transformative biotechnology company with novel technologies, including cell and gene therapy, targeting serious diseases that affect the skin. Castle Creek’s late-stage fibroblast-based platform complements Pelthos’ novel FDA-approved product portfolio and established commercial capabilities in dermatology. Upon close, the combined company will operate as Pelthos Therapeutics Inc. and continue to trade on the NYSE American (ticker symbol: “PTHS”).

Castle Creek’s lead candidate is D-Fi (dabocemagene autoficel; FCX-007), an injectable, redosable, gene-modified cell therapy with a continued Phase 3 study planned for the treatment of dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa (DEB), a devastating rare inherited disease caused by mutations in the COL7A1 gene. There is significant demand for new treatment options in DEB given the substantial burden of untreated wounds and increased risk of squamous cell carcinoma. D-Fi, which has received Orphan Drug Designation, is administered by intradermal injection every other month, and the drug product delivers type VII collagen (COL7) producing cells. In addition, Castle Creek is using its proprietary fibroblast technology to develop a topical formulation of D-Fi and to pursue additional therapeutic targets in serious diseases that affect the skin, including malignancies and inflammatory conditions.

“This transformative combination brings a novel platform with significant growth potential to Pelthos and broadens our focus beyond cutaneous infectious diseases to serious diseases that affect the skin,” said Scott Plesha, CEO of Pelthos. “D-Fi builds on our established strength in dermatology, especially within pediatric dermatology, which we believe will accelerate its launch and value in the marketplace. This transaction creates a stronger, more diversified biotechnology company positioned to bring important new therapies to patients and drive long-term value for our shareholders.”

“D-Fi has the potential to become a blockbuster franchise in DEB, where patients still have significant unmet needs,” said Matt Gantz, Chairman and CEO of Castle Creek. “Joining with Pelthos will provide the commercial infrastructure to help realize the D-Fi opportunity and accelerate the pipeline of new indications from our platform.”

Strategic Rationale

  • Compelling Complementary Capabilities: As part of Pelthos’ portfolio, D-Fi will leverage the Company’s established commercial leadership, deep expertise in dermatology, and existing physician relationships to accelerate its commercial launch and delivery of important therapies to patients.
  • Greater Pipeline Diversification: The combination brings together Pelthos’ three novel FDA-approved products, ZELSUVMI®, XEPI® and XEGLYZE®, with D-Fi, creating a portfolio spanning marketed, launch-stage and late-stage assets across multiple therapeutic modalities. This broader mix provides multiple potential sources of growth over different time horizons.
  • Expanded Technology Base: Castle Creek’s fibroblast technology adds a cell and gene therapy capability to Pelthos’ existing Nitricil platform, giving the combined company multiple therapeutic modalities to address serious diseases that affect the skin where conventional small molecules have had limited impact and expand the pipeline over time.

Transaction Terms

Under the terms of the agreement, Castle Creek stockholders will receive 5,200,000 shares of Pelthos common stock at the closing of the transaction, representing approximately 32.5% of Pelthos’ fully diluted shares. As defined within the agreement, and subject to meeting various developmental and sales-based criteria, Castle Creek stockholders will also be eligible to receive: (i) up to 5,800,000 shares of Pelthos common stock upon FDA approval of D-Fi; (ii) up to a total of $300 million in milestone payments, payable in cash (or, to the extent required to preserve the intended tax treatment of the transaction, in a combination of cash and shares of Pelthos common stock), including a $50 million payment due upon achievement of specified Phase 3 clinical endpoints, and up to $250 million in additional consideration tied to D-Fi’s first commercial sale and achievement of specified net sales milestones; and (iii) 80% of the net proceeds from the sale of any priority review voucher awarded upon FDA approval of D-Fi.

The transaction has been approved by the boards of directors of both companies and is expected to close by the end of the first quarter of 2027, subject to customary closing conditions including approval by Castle Creek’s stockholders. Scott Plesha will continue to serve as Chief Executive Officer, and Peter Greenleaf will serve as Executive Chair of the combined company. Upon closing, the combined company’s board will consist of 10 directors, including two designated by Castle Creek.

About D-Fi
D-Fi (dabocemagene autoficel; FCX-007) is an injectable autologous gene-modified cell therapy candidate for the treatment of DEB, a devastating, progressive, painful and debilitating rare genetic skin disorder. DEB is caused by a mutation in the COL7A1 gene, leading to a deficiency of normal type VII collagen (COL7) protein, impairing the connection between the epidermis and the dermis. D-Fi is composed of a patient’s own dermal fibroblasts, which are genetically modified completely ex vivo with a self-inactivating (SIN) lentiviral vector (LV) containing the COL7A1 gene to express COL7. D-Fi is locally administered by intradermal injection into chronic wounds where the COL7 protein can support the formation of anchoring fibrils in the skin. In clinical studies, D-Fi has been generally well tolerated, with injection site reactions (skin discoloration, erythema, hemorrhage, pain, and swelling) being the most commonly reported adverse drug reactions. D-Fi has Orphan Drug Designation for the treatment of DEB and Rare Pediatric Disease, Fast Track, and Regenerative Medicine Advanced Therapy designations for the treatment of recessive DEB (RDEB) from the FDA.

About Castle Creek Biosciences, Inc.

  • Final Safety Evaluation Report formally completes NRC safety review
  • Marks completion of both primary reviews required for Construction Permit approval
  • Establishes regulatory precedent to support more efficient licensing of future Xe-100 projects

ROCKVILLE, Md., Oct. 30, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — X-Energy, Inc. (Nasdaq: XE) (“X-energy” or “the Company”), a leading developer of advanced nuclear reactors and fuel technology, today announced the completion of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s (“NRC”) safety review for the initial deployment of X-energy’s Xe-100 high-temperature gas-cooled reactor (“HTGR”). The proposed Long Mott Generating Station would be the first grid-scale advanced nuclear reactor at an industrial facility in U.S. history, advancing in partnership with Dow (NYSE: DOW) under the U.S. Department of Energy’s Advanced Reactor Demonstration Program (“ARDP”).

The NRC’s Final Safety Evaluation Report (“FSER”) follows a comprehensive review of the Xe-100 plant’s principal design criteria, preliminary design, safety analyses, probabilistic risk assessment, and research and development programs, documenting the NRC staff’s conclusion that the proposed plant and site provide the safety basis to begin construction under 10 CFR Part 50. The Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards, an independent body that advises the Commission, separately reviewed the NRC staff’s evaluation and supports issuance of the construction permit.

The Xe-100’s safety case leverages the passive physics of its TRISO-X coated particle fuel and pebble-bed core design, as well as traditional defense-in-depth systems to enable a new, broader range of applications for nuclear technology. The design’s safety profile enables applicants to pursue a compact site footprint with a 400-meter emergency planning zone compared to 10 miles for conventional light-water reactors. This allows new generation to be sited closer to the point of need, including inside the perimeter of a large industrial facility, or closer to populated areas. While future applications will be reviewed individually, the NRC’s review establishes regulatory precedents for every Xe-100 project that follows, creating replicable pathways for increased efficiency in commercial nuclear licensing.

“Licensing a new reactor is earned through the quality of the application and the rigor of the regulator’s review,” said Dragan Popovic, Chief Global Operating Officer at X-energy. “The NRC’s completion of its safety review reflects years of disciplined work by our team and the NRC staff, establishing the foundations to support every Xe-100 application that follows on the path to scale.”

Commercial licensing for X-energy’s technology is supported by both extensive pre-application engagement with the NRC dating to 2018, as well as decades of U.S. Department of Energy research on HTGR technology. The Xe-100 is the first HTGR construction permit application to use the NRC’s technology-inclusive, risk-informed, and performance-based licensing framework, building on licensing modernization proposals first developed for the DOE’s Next Generation Nuclear Plant program in 2008. TRISO-X fuel is based on TRISO fuel designs pioneered by the DOE through the Advanced Gas Reactor Program, providing both irradiation data and production specifications over 20 years of testing that are central to the fuel’s design today.

In May 2026, the NRC completed its environmental review with an Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact. With both primary reviews complete, the project moves to the final stages of the NRC’s construction permit review. In the United Kingdom, the Xe-100 was recently accepted into Generic Design Assessment, initiating a critical step in the licensing process for U.K. deployment. Together, these regulatory milestones advance the Company’s vision of transformative energy technology to fuel the future of humanity.

About X-energy
X-energy, Inc. is a leading developer of advanced small modular nuclear reactors and fuel technology designed to establish a new standard in clean, safe, reliable energy. X-energy’s intrinsically safe Xe-100 high-temperature gas reactor and TRISO-X particle fuel expand applications for nuclear technology, with commercial projects underway with Dow, Amazon, and Centrica across grid, industrial, and AI applications. Together, X-energy’s technology drives enhanced safety, lower cost, faster construction timelines, and scalable deployment when compared with other SMRs and conventional nuclear.

Forward-Looking Statements
This press release contains forward-looking statements within the meaning of the Private Securities Litigation Reform Act of 1995, which X-energy intends to be covered by the safe harbor provisions of Section 27A of the Securities Act of 1933, as amended, and Section 21E of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, as amended. Words such as “assume,” “believe,” “continue,” “could,” “estimate,” “expect,” “intend,” “may,” “plan,” “potential,” “predict,” “project,” “will,” “seek,” the negative of these words, or similar terms may identify forward-looking statements, but their absence does not mean a statement is not forward-looking. These include, but are not limited to, statements regarding the NRC’s construction permit review, including the expected timing and outcome; the expectation that the proposed plant will be the first of its kind in U.S. history; the regulatory precedent established by the NRC’s review and its expected effect on the efficiency of licensing future projects; the expected safety profile, features and siting benefits of the Xe-100; the Xe-100’s Generic Design Assessment in the United Kingdom; the status and timing of X-energy’s commercial projects; and X-energy’s vision and strategy.

You should not rely on these forward-looking statements as predictions of future events. Actual results may differ materially due to a number of factors, including, but not limited to: the risk that the NRC’s review does not result in more efficient licensing of future Xe-100 projects, which will be reviewed individually, or that future sites do not qualify for a comparable emergency planning zone or environmental review pathway; design changes following the construction permit that require additional NRC review; the failure to obtain, or delays in obtaining, required licenses, permits and regulatory approvals, including issuance of the NRC Construction permit; site suitability and characterization risks; the decision of X-energy’s customers, including Dow, whether to proceed with construction; the ability of the parties to obtain project financing and achieve acceptable project economics; delays, cost increases or setbacks in the licensing, construction or deployment of X-energy’s projects; supply chain and supplier constraints; changes in government policy, funding or support for advanced nuclear energy, including under the ARDP; public or stakeholder opposition; and first-of-a-kind risks and X-energy’s limited operating experience at intended scale, including latent design or operational issues. More information about potential risks is detailed under “Risk Factors” in X-energy’s Quarterly Report on Form 10-Q for the quarter ended June 30, 2026 filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission (the “SEC”), and in subsequent SEC filings, available on X-energy’s Investor Relations website at https://investors.x-energy.com/ and on the SEC website at www.sec.gov. Any forward-looking statements herein are based on assumptions believed reasonable as of, and speak only as of, the date of this press release. Except as required by law, X-energy undertakes no obligation to update these statements as a result of new information or future events.
