HOUSTON, Oct. 22, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — BioForce Nanosciences Holdings, Inc. (OTC: BFNH) (“BFNH”) (“Company”) announces the expansion of its oil and gas asset portfolio beyond Nevada through a 100% leasehold interest in two oil and gas leases totaling approximately 67.59 acres in Liberty County, Texas.

The Texas properties include:

  • An approximately 40.19-acre lease assigned to BFNH by CELT eResources LLC; and
  • An approximately 27.40-acre lease entered into by BFNH with a private lessor.

The Texas General Land Office approved the 40.19-acre lease assignment. The assignment was recorded in the official public records of Liberty County, Texas, under Document No. 2026029454 on October 6, 2026. The separate 27.40-acre private lease is dated October 4, 2026.

BFNH’s 100% leasehold interest remains subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable leases, including lessor royalty interests, overriding royalties, production burdens, and other applicable obligations.

Herrin-1 Opportunity

BFNH has received an engineering evaluation prepared by Hagen Consulting, LLC, effective January 1, 2026, for the Herrin-1 property. For the property and ownership evaluated in that report, the evaluation identifies gross estimate “Proved Developed Behind Pipe Reserves” of:

Reserve Category Estimate Gross Reserves
Oil 285,730 barrels
Natural Gas 23,512,340 Mcf *

*The reported natural-gas volume is an estimated 23.5 billion cubic feet.

Herrin-1 is currently shut in and not producing. BFNH is conducting a comprehensive feasibility analysis of the gross estimates, including, but not limited to, engineering, operations, infrastructure, title, regulatory, environmental, production, and financial considerations.

Based on currently available information, BFNH estimates that the capital required to evaluate, repair, rework, equip, and potentially return Herrin-1 to production could be at least approximately $2.5 million or more. This preliminary estimate is subject to change and does not constitute a final development budget, financing commitment, or decision to undertake any particular work.

The evaluation was prepared for CELT eResources LLC before the lease transfer to BFNH and has not been independently updated or reissued for BFNH.

BFNH has not made a final determination regarding the timing, scope, funding, execution, or commercial viability of any potential work on Herrin-1.

Portfolio Expansion and Additional Opportunities

In addition to evaluating Herrin-1, BFNH continues to assess potential opportunities to expand and diversify its energy portfolio, including opportunities outside Liberty County, Texas.

Potential opportunities may include additional oil and gas leasehold interests, prospective resource projects, strategic acquisitions, technical partnerships, and other assets that could complement the Company’s existing activities. BFNH’s objective is to identify opportunities that may support the development of multiple initiatives over time while maintaining disciplined review of title, ownership, reserves, engineering, infrastructure, regulatory, environmental, financing, and commercial considerations.

No assurance can be given that BFNH will acquire or develop any additional assets, that any potential opportunity will result in production or revenue, or that any such opportunity will contribute to the Company’s growth. Any future acquisition, development, partnership, or investment decision will be subject to further due diligence, applicable approvals, available financing, and definitive agreements.

Management Statement

“BFNH has established direct control of two Liberty County leasehold interests totaling approximately 67.59 acres and is advancing a disciplined technical evaluation of the Herrin-1 opportunity,” said Gustavo Taboada, BFNH’s Chief Geoscience Officer.

He further stated, “Our immediate priority is to evaluate the available geological, engineering, wellbore, infrastructure, title, regulatory, environmental, and financial information before determining whether any repair, rework, re-equipping, or production-restoration program is justified or economically viable. We are also reviewing additional opportunities that could broaden BFNH’s energy portfolio and support the advancement of multiple initiatives over time, subject to appropriate due diligence and available financing.”

“Expanding beyond Nevada into Texas gives BFNH an additional opportunity and broadens our asset portfolio,” said Richard Kaiser, Interim Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer, and Director of BFNH. “We are taking a disciplined approach by completing the necessary technical and financial analysis before determining whether and how to advance Herrin-1 as well as the Company’s other holdings.”

Related-Party Disclosure

The approximately 40.19-acre lease was assigned to BFNH by CELT eResources LLC, an entity under common control with BFNH through Nexus Capital Investments, Inc. The assignment is therefore a related-party transaction. Nexus Capital Investments, Inc. is BFNH’s majority shareholder.

Cautionary Statement Regarding Gross Reserve Information

The reserve estimate information in this release comes from the Hagen Consulting, LLC engineering evaluation prepared for CELT eResources LLC, effective January 1, 2026. BFNH received it in connection with the completed lease acquisition. The estimates remain subject to the assumptions, limitations, ownership interests, methodology, definitions, and effective date stated in that evaluation. The reported volumes apply only to the Herrin-1 property and ownership evaluated in the report and do not apply to the separate approximately 27.40-acre lease. Both CELT eResources, LLC, a Texas limited liability company, and BFNH are controlled by Nexus Capital Investments, Inc. (“Nexus”).

The estimated reported volumes do not guarantee production, recovery, revenue, profitability, or shareholder returns. Herrin-1 is not currently producing, and BFNH has not made a final decision regarding development, funding, reactivation, production, timing, scope, or commercial viability.

Reserve estimates do not guarantee production, recovery, revenue, profitability, or shareholder returns. Actual results may differ materially due to reservoir performance, geological conditions, wellbore and equipment condition, completion requirements, title and ownership matters, permitting, regulatory and environmental requirements, operating costs, commodity prices, financing availability, infrastructure requirements, and other factors.

The fact that Herrin-1 has been evaluated as containing estimated reported reserve volumes does not mean that the well is currently producing or that BFNH has determined that production can be restored economically.

Acquisition Structured With No Shareholder Dilution; Company Remains Debt-Free With Acquisition Funding Already in Place

Company to Rebrand as “GPU Exchange” and Plans to Change Its Nasdaq Ticker to “XGPU”

Due Diligence Substantially Complete; Closing Anticipated in Early November 2026

LAKEWOOD, NJ, Oct. 22, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Reliance Global Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: EZRA) (“Reliance,” “EZRA” or the “Company”) today announced that on September 23, 2026, it executed a non-binding letter of intent (the “LOI”) to acquire the assets of a GPU cloud provider and marketplace operator delivering on-demand computing infrastructure for AI training, inference and other demanding workloads. The proposed acquisition would mark Reliance’s entry into the AI cloud market, with plans to scale rapidly through investment in a Company-owned GPU fleet and expansion of the acquisition target’s proprietary marketplace.

The business being acquired delivers on-demand computing capacity for artificial intelligence and other compute-intensive applications while enabling third-party GPU owners to earn revenue by offering their hardware through its platform. Reliance intends to build on this operating foundation by acquiring additional graphics processing units (“GPUs”), increasing available computing capacity and broadening marketplace participation.

The proposed acquisition is structured to result in no dilution to existing shareholders, as the purchase price is payable entirely in cash and no shares of the Company’s common stock will be issued as consideration for the acquisition, and the funds required to complete the transaction are already in place. Under the LOI, $3,375,000 is payable at closing, consisting of $3,000,000 in cash and $375,000 funded into escrow. A further $375,000 is payable 12 months after closing. Both $375,000 payments are subject to the achievement of specified milestones, and the Company will also pay $250,000 of consulting fees to the founder of the business over the 12 months following closing. The LOI also provides for an optional $500,000 investment by the Company in a related company of the seller. Reliance reiterated that it is debt-free, having retired 100% of its term debt. Due diligence is substantially complete, and the Company anticipates closing in early November 2026, subject to finalizing definitive agreements and satisfying applicable closing conditions.

In connection with this strategy, Reliance plans to adopt GPU Exchange as its doing-business-as (“DBA”) name and change its Nasdaq trading symbol from EZRA to XGPU. Following completion of the acquisition, the acquired business would operate under the GPU Exchange brand. The Company will announce the effective date of any ticker change separately. Its shares currently continue to trade under EZRA.

“The proposed acquisition provides an operating foundation for our entry into AI infrastructure, with a clear strategy to scale substantially,” said Ezra Beyman, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Reliance Global Group. “We believe this is the most significant step in the Company’s evolution to date. We are pursuing this acquisition with no outstanding debt, funding already in place and no dilution to existing shareholders.”

“Our focus is execution: acquiring and deploying GPUs, growing the customer base and making it easier for hardware owners to earn revenue through the marketplace,” said Judah Korman, Chief Operating Officer of Reliance Global Group. “By combining our own GPU fleet with third-party capacity, we intend to scale supply rapidly and serve more customers through a single platform. GPU Exchange will bring these efforts together under one brand.”

While Reliance continues to operate, enhance and grow the RELI Exchange platform, the Company believes the proposed acquisition creates new opportunities for expansion and scale.

Entering the Market with a Strategy for Rapid Scale

Following completion of the acquisition, Reliance intends to pursue growth through two complementary initiatives:

  • Acquire and scale a Company-owned GPU fleet. Invest in GPUs to provide additional computing capacity for AI training, inference, rendering and other demanding workloads.
  • Grow the proprietary GPU marketplace. Invest in the platform, attract additional customers and providers, and make it easier for individuals, businesses and infrastructure operators to offer GPU capacity and earn revenue when customers use it.

The Company-owned fleet would complement third-party capacity available through the marketplace, allowing the business to grow through both direct infrastructure investment and increased provider participation.

Reliance’s objective is to establish GPU Exchange as an accessible destination for customers seeking GPU computing power and hardware owners seeking to monetize available capacity. The Company intends to use the acquisition target’s existing platform as the foundation for accelerating customer adoption, increasing computing supply and scaling operations.

Transaction Status

The LOI is non-binding, and the acquisition has not yet closed. Due diligence is substantially complete, and completion remains subject to finalizing definitive agreements and satisfying applicable closing conditions. Reliance anticipates closing in early November 2026 and expects to provide additional updates as the transaction progresses.

About the Acquisition Target

The acquisition target is a GPU cloud provider and marketplace operator delivering on-demand computing resources for artificial intelligence, machine learning, rendering and other demanding workloads. Its proprietary GPU marketplace connects customers with available computing capacity and enables third-party hardware owners to earn rental revenue.

About Reliance Global Group, Inc.

Reliance Global Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: EZRA) operates insurance and technology businesses and pursues opportunities to build and scale AI-related platforms. Through the proposed acquisition, the Company intends to enter the GPU cloud and AI infrastructure market and rapidly scale the business under the planned GPU Exchange brand. Additional information is available at https://www.relianceglobalgroup.com.

Production for the first nine months of 2026 amounts to 4.1 TWh, up +11% compared with the first nine months of 2025. This increase reflects growth in capacity in operation and the ramp-up of recently commissioned power plants. Solar and wind account for 55% and 43% of production over the period respectively. It should be noted that battery storage is set to account for a gradually larger share of this energy mix (standalone storage projects and hybrid projects).

Production for the third quarter of 2026 reaches 1.7 TWh, up +29% compared with the third quarter of 2025. This strong increase benefits from the contribution of new power plants, the sharp reduction in curtailment and improved solar and wind resources.

Analysis of quarterly production by region

  • In Latin America, production grows by +22%, driven by improved solar and wind resources and the continued decrease in curtailment. Curtailment stands at 225 GWh in the third quarter of 2026, down 41%, confirming the improvement observed since the beginning of the year
  • In Europe, production grows by +10%, driven in particular by recently commissioned power plants, notably in French Guiana
  • In Africa and internationally, production is multiplied by 3.6, driven by new capacity commissioned
  • Helexia production grows by +7%

Turnover from Energy Sales for the first nine months of 2026 reaches 301.7 million euros, up +24% at constant exchange rates (+27% at current exchange rates). This change reflects the contribution of capacity growth (+18%), a favourable currency effect linked to the Brazilian real and the recognition, in the first half, of compensation related to curtailment in Brazil. These drivers offset lower availability at certain wind power plants, which is in the process of being resolved.

Turnover from Energy Sales for the third quarter of 2026 reaches 111.5 million euros, up +26% at constant exchange rates (+31% at current exchange rates), driven by turnover growth across all regions and at Helexia.

Turnover from Renvolt for the first nine months of 2026 amounts to 177.8 million euros, up +16% at constant and current exchange rates, benefiting from the growth recorded in the first half. This increase is driven by momentum in construction activities for third-party clients in Europe (around 600 MW under construction in Ireland and Spain) and in maintenance for third-party clients, notably in Portugal.

Turnover from Renvolt for the third quarter of 2026 amounts to 53.9 million euros, down -21% at constant and current exchange rates. This change mainly reflects the recognition of revenues according to the progress of construction milestones. It does not call into question the growth momentum observed over the first nine months of the year.

2 Capacity as of September 30, 2026 vs capacity as of September 30, 2025.
3 The calculation of load factors was reviewed and updated during the period in order to better reflect the actual performance of the portfolio in operation. Load factors are now weighted by the installed capacity of each power plant and by the number of hours during which it was available over the period, which notably makes it possible to take into account commissionings and changes in scope during the year. The 2025 load factors presented for comparison have been restated in line with this new methodology. By way of illustration, before restatement, the solar load factor in Brazil for the first nine months of 2025 was 23%.

We are also advancing our use of data and AI to make better decisions, improve operational efficiency and drive performance for our retail partners and for URW. We look forward to sharing our progress in this area with investors and analysts in December.

With strong operating momentum, our diversified global platform and a clear focus on executing our ‘A Platform for Growth’ business plan, we have confidence in the Group’s financial trajectory despite the volatile geopolitical and macroeconomic environment.”

Third quarter in line with annual objectives Valeo confirms its FY 2026 guidance

Q3 sales at 4.9 billion euros, down 2.6% on a like-for-like basis

North America and Asia (excluding China) continued to outperform; original equipment sales of 4.1 billion euros, down by 3.8% like for like in a market that was down 1.6% overall

BRAIN Division returned to growth with sales up 8.2% on a like-for-like basis, marking the first step towards the Group’s return to growth in 2027

FY 2026 objectives confirmed:

● Sales: 20 to 21 billion euros

● Operating margin (as a % of sales): 4.7% to 5.3%

● Free cash flow (after net financial interest) of more than 400 million euros

● Valeo is targeting second-half operating margin (as a % of sales) and free cash flow equivalent to those of the first half

“Our performance in the third quarter is in line with our objectives for the full year, demonstrating Valeo’s resilience in a demanding market environment where challenges have intensified over recent months.

In this context, the rebound in activity in the BRAIN Division provides a positive signal. It sets the first concrete milestone toward the Group’s return to growth in 2027, the third engine of our “Elevate 2028” strategic plan.

We are entering the final quarter with the same absolute rigor in operational execution and cost management. Our teams are fully mobilized to tackle the headwinds and deliver on all our objectives for the full year.”

Christophe Périllat, Valeo’s Chief Executive Officer

Based on S&P Global Mobility estimates, automotive production was down 1.6% year on year in the third quarter of 2026.

Total sales for third-quarter 2026 came in at 4,881 million euros, down 2.3% compared with the same period in 2025.

Changes in Group structure had a negative 0.7% impact linked to the disposal of the automotive powertrain systems sensor business in November 2025 (POWER Division).

Exchange rates had a positive impact of 1.0%, due to the increase in value of international currencies against the euro, particularly the US dollar and Chinese renminbi.

On a like-for-like basis, sales were down 2.6%.

Original equipment sales contracted by 3.8% like for like, representing a gap in performance versus global automotive production of 2.2 percentage points, taking into account a positive 0.8 percentage point geographic mix effect. These sales were affected by an unfavorable base effect related to customer compensation recorded in the POWER Division in the third quarter of 2025.

Aftermarket sales rose by 3.0% on a like-for-like basis compared with the prior-year period, supported by ongoing momentum in North America, Asia and Europe.

“Miscellaneous” sales, essentially comprising customer contributions to R&D costs and prototypes, were up 6.6% on a like-for-like basis.

Third-quarter original equipment sales saw a gap in performance of 2.2 percentage points versus automotive production, while also benefiting from a favorable geographic mix effect of 0.8 percentage points.

In Europe, the 7-percentage point gap in performance versus automotive production reflects a downturn in the POWER Division, largely attributable to an unfavorable base effect, offset by the continued strong performance of the LIGHT and BRAIN Divisions.

In Asia (excluding China), which was buoyed by strong performance from the POWER and LIGHT Divisions, Valeo posted growth of 7.5% on a like-for-like basis, an outperformance of 3 percentage points compared with automotive production.

In China, in a declining and particularly volatile market, Valeo posted a gap in performance versus automotive production of 7 percentage points. While business volumes with local automakers were down slightly, efforts to reposition the customer portfolio continue to advance (56% of original equipment sales to Chinese automakers since the start of the year, compared with 52% in 2025 over the same period and 53% in first-half 2026).

In North America, Valeo posted a 5-percentage point outperformance with sales remaining stable on a like-for-like basis, driven by the ongoing momentum of the POWER Division.

In the third quarter, the POWER Division posted a 8‑percentage point gap in performance, caused by unfavorable base and mix effects in Europe. Growth remains robust, however, in North America and Asia, particularly for electrification technologies in India.

With an 8.2% increase on a like-for-like basis, the BRAIN Division returned to growth in the third quarter and outperformed the market by 10 percentage points. This performance reflects continued strong momentum in the display and telematics activities, as well as the ramp-up in production of vision systems for a major European automaker.

The LIGHT Division saw a gap in performance versus automotive production of 2 percentage points. Momentum remains strong in Europe and Asia (excluding China), driven by lighting programs for premium and volume vehicles. Following success with Chinese automakers and a peak in production launches in the second half of 2025, business in China has returned to normal levels.

2026 guidance confirmed

Third-quarter sales are in line with annual objectives. For the fourth quarter, Valeo anticipates sequential growth in line with typical seasonality.

The Group confirms its 2026 guidance (as set out in the table below), and is targeting an operating margin (as a % of sales) and free cash flow in the second half of the year equivalent to those of the first half.

New late-breaking data presented today at ASN Kidney Week 2026

QUELIMMUNE (SCD-PED) treatment group demonstrates statistically significant higher survival in the primary analysis at Day 60, Day 90, and at hospital discharge versus comparator cohort

No device-related adverse events (AEs) occurred in patients treated with QUELIMMUNE

DENVER, Oct. 22, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — SeaStar Medical Holding Corporation (Nasdaq: ICU), a commercial-stage healthcare company focused on transformational treatments for critically ill patients facing organ failure and potential loss of life, announced today new positive data from the late-breaking presentation at ASN Kidney Week 2026 in Denver, Colorado.

The late-breaking poster, titled “Improved Outcomes in Pediatric Sepsis-Associated (SA) AKI: Comparison of the Selective Cytopheretic Device for Pediatrics (SCD-PED) Surveillance Registry (SAVE) with a Historical Cohort,” compared survival in QUELIMMUNE (SCD-PED)-treated critically ill pediatric patients from its post-approval SAVE registry and one non-registry patient with life-threatening acute kidney injury (AKI) and sepsis requiring CRRT (QUELIMMUNE SCD-PED cohort) with clinically aligned cohorts from Kids’ Inpatient Database (KID), the largest publicly available, all-payer pediatric inpatient care database in the United States representing broad clinical complexity. To assess the robustness of the findings, the authors used a multi-pronged analytic approach that included both Bayesian and frequentist methods across primary, landmark, and time-to-event analyses. Key results are reported. A separate safety analysis of QUELIMMUNE (SCD-PED)-treated patients was also presented.

Summary of Key Highlights:

  • Day 90 Survival:   The primary exposure-defined analysis at Day 90 resulted in a statistically significant increase in survival of the QUELIMMUNE (SCD-PED) cohort achieving 65.1% survival compared to 47.4% for the KID cohort (P = 0.043), representing more than double the odds of survival for QUELIMMUNE (SCD-PED)-treated patients (odds ratio [OR] 2.07; 95% confidence interval, [CI] 1.04-4.11). The Bayesian probability of higher survival in QUELIMMUNE (SCD-PED) patients was 98.2%. A second landmark sensitivity analysis favored the QUELIMMUNE (SCD-PED) cohort achieving 63.8% Day 90 survival, an increase of 15.1 percentage points over the KID cohort survival of 48.7% (P= 0.074), representing 86% higher estimated odds of survival (OR 1.86; 95% CI, 0.96-3.60). The Bayesian probability of higher survival in the QUELIMMUNE (SCD-PED) landmark cohort was 96.8%.
  • In-Hospital Survival: Survival to hospital discharge was significantly higher with the QUELIMMUNE (SCD-PED) cohort compared to KID in the primary analysis (P = 0.04). Bayesian analyses were directionally consistent, with 98.5% and 97.3% posterior probabilities of higher QUELIMMUNE (SCD-PED) survival in the primary and landmark analyses, respectively.
  • Mortality: All four Day 90 mortality models favored the QUELIMMUNE (SCD-PED) cohort showing 34% to 40% reduction in estimated hazard of mortality (Hazard Ratio range, 0.60-0.66) compared with combined KID. While frequentist models did not reach statistical significance, both Bayesian time-to-death models exceeded the 95% probability threshold, providing supportive evidence of a lower mortality hazard with QUELIMMUNE therapy.
  • Renal Replacement Therapy (RRT) Independence: 20 of the 24 survivors (83%) in the QUELIMMUNE (SCD-PED) cohort who did not require RRT at baseline were independent of RRT at 90 days.
  • Adverse Events (AEs): No device-related AEs occurred in patients treated with the QUELIMMUNE (SCD-PED) therapy from SAVE registry patients. All new bloodstream infections (12% overall and 6% during treatment) within 28 days of SCD-PED initiation were adjudicated by an independent data and safety monitoring board to be unrelated to QUELIMMUNE therapy.

“These real-world, post-approval data show a significant association with higher survival and a consistent safety profile in the QUELIMMUNE (SCD-PED)-treated patients with sepsis-associated AKI requiring CRRT with a broad range of clinical complexities,” said Stuart Goldstein, MD, Director, Center for Acute Care Nephrology at Cincinnati Children’s and a member of the SeaStar Medical Scientific Advisory Board.* “The consistency of the survival signal across analyses support continued and further exploration of these and additional data that is forthcoming from new patients. Given the urgency of this rare and life-threatening condition combined with no device-related adverse events, I believe there is a clear observed potential benefit from the SCD-PED therapy with a favorable safety profile.”

“Selection as a late-breaker at ASN Kidney Week reflects the urgent need for better options for critically ill children with sepsis-associated AKI,” said Kevin Chung, MD, Chief Medical Officer of SeaStar Medical. “These real-world findings are consistent with our previous clinical results and the association with higher survival held across every analytic approach we applied. Sharing them with the nephrology community at its premier meeting is an important step toward making QUELIMMUNE therapy available to every child who may benefit.”

Statistical Design and Analyses:

The observational external-control exploratory study compared all known eligible QUELIMMUNE (SCD-PED)-treated pediatric patients (SAVE Registry patients plus one non-registry patient) with available outcome data through completion of the pre-specified SAVE enrollment target of 50 patients versus clinically aligned patients from the 2019 and 2022 Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project Kids’ Inpatient Databases (KID). KID is the largest publicly available all-payer pediatric inpatient care database in the United States, containing unweighted data from over three million pediatric discharges per data year, representing a broad range of patients, comorbidities, and complexities, including extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), thus provided the broadest available pediatric comparator population. Both cohorts included critically ill pediatric patients with life-threatening AKI and sepsis requiring CRRT with high clinical complexities, such as malignancy, immunocompromised status and transplant. Greater than 95% required invasive mechanical ventilation, vasopressor use, and/or management for shock in both groups. Advanced life support therapy, such as ECMO, was administered in 33% to 34% of patients in the SAVE cohort and 28% to 29% of patients in the KID cohort.

The primary exposure-defined analysis compared the QUELIMMUNE (SCD-PED) cohort patients who received greater than one day of QUELIMMUNE therapy (N=43) versus clinically aligned patients in the KID cohort (N=196).

The landmark sensitivity analysis compared the QUELIMMUNE (SCD-PED) cohort patients who were alive one day post-initiation of QUELIMMUNE therapy (N=47) versus patients from the KID cohort who survived beyond one calendar day of CRRT initiation (N=191).

Safety outcomes for the QUELIMMUNE (SCD-PED) cohort included new bloodstream infections and Day 90 renal replacement therapy (RRT)-free status among survivors not RRT-dependent at baseline.

Final study results and interpretations are expected to be reported in a peer-reviewed manuscript.

About QUELIMMUNE

The QUELIMMUNE® (SCD-PED) therapy is being commercialized for children with AKI and sepsis or septic condition weighing 10 kilograms or more and aged ≤22 years who are on antibiotics and being treated in the ICU with RRT. It was approved in February 2024 under a Humanitarian Device Exemption application.

Data from two clinical trials of the QUELIMMUNE therapy, published in Kidney Medicine, showed a 77% survival rate in patient treated with QUELIMMUNE versus standard of care, representing an approximate 50% reduction in loss of life compared to historical data in this patient population. No dialysis was required for survivors, and 87.5% of survivors had normal kidney function at Day 60 after ICU discharge.

In February 2026, data published in the prestigious, peer-reviewed journal, Pediatric Nephrology, highlighted the early experience from the QUELIMMUNE SAVE Registry, a post-approval surveillance registry, evaluating the role of the QUELIMMUNE therapy in the treatment of critically ill pediatric patients with life-threatening Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) and sepsis requiring renal replacement therapy. The publication reported observations from the first 21 pediatric patients with AKI and sepsis requiring renal replacement therapy. Data showed no device-related adverse events or infections and no reports of immunosuppressive effects by the device. In addition, preliminary outcomes analyses show a 76% survival rate at Day 28 and Day 60, and a 71% survival rate at Day 90. These findings are broadly consistent with the survival observations reported in the registration studies reported in Kidney Medicine.

The patented technology behind QUELIMMUNE is known as the Selective Cytopheretic Device (SCD) therapy and could have broad applications for treating the destructive hyperinflammation that shuts down organ function and causes loss of life.

QUELIMMUNE was approved by FDA under a Humanitarian Device Exemption based on safety and probable benefit.  The effectiveness of this device for this use has not been demonstrated. Adverse reactions observed in clinical studies include hypotension, hypothermia, tachycardia, hyperglycemia, and thrombocytopenia. Additional risks may include blood loss or extracorporeal circuit complications. QUELIMMUNE must be used with citrate anticoagulation.

About the SeaStar Medical Selective Cytopheretic Device (SCD) Therapy

The SCD therapy is designed as a disease-modifying device that neutralizes over-active immune cells and stops the cytokine storm that yields destructive hyperinflammation and creates a cascade of events that wreak havoc in the patient’s body. The SCD therapy is designed for broad applications in multiple acute and chronic kidney and cardiovascular diseases, representing patients who today have no FDA-approved options for treating their disease. Unlike pathogen removal and other blood-purification tools, the SCD therapy is integrated with an existing CRRT hemofiltration system to selectively target and transition proinflammatory monocytes to a reparative state and promote activated neutrophils to be less inflammatory. This unique immunomodulation approach may promote long-term organ recovery, eliminate the need for future CRRT, including dialysis, and prevent loss of life.

About NEUTRALIZE-AKI Pivotal Trial

The NEUTRALIZE-AKI (NEUTRophil and monocyte deActivation via SeLective Cytopheretic Device – a randomIZEd clinical trial in Acute Kidney Injury) pivotal trial is evaluating the safety and efficacy of the SCD therapy in 339 adults with AKI in the ICU receiving CRRT. The trial’s primary endpoint is a composite of 90-day mortality or dialysis dependency of patients treated with the SCD therapy in addition to CRRT as the standard of care, compared with the control group receiving only CRRT standard of care. Secondary endpoints include mortality at 28 days, ICU-free days in the first 28 days, major adverse kidney events at Day 90 and dialysis dependency at one year. The study will also include subgroup analyses to explore the effectiveness of the SCD therapy in AKI patients with sepsis and acute respiratory distress syndrome.

About Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) and Hyperinflammation

AKI is characterized by a sudden and temporary loss of kidney function and can be caused by a variety of conditions such as severe infections or other septic conditions, severe trauma, surgery, and organ failures. AKI can cause destructive hyperinflammation, which is the overproduction or overactivity of inflammatory effector cells and other molecules that can be toxic. Damage resulting from this destructive hyperinflammation in AKI can progress to other organs, such as the heart or liver, and potentially to multi-organ dysfunction or even failure that could result in worse outcomes, including increased risk of death. Even after resolution, these patients may face complications including chronic kidney disease or end-stage renal disease (ESRD) requiring dialysis. Extreme hyperinflammation may also contribute to added healthcare costs, such as prolonged ICU stays and increased reliance on dialysis and mechanical ventilation.

About SeaStar Medical

SeaStar Medical is a commercial-stage healthcare company focused on transformational treatments for critically ill patients facing organ failure and potential loss of life. SeaStar Medical’s first commercial product, QUELIMMUNE (SCD-PED), was approved in 2024 by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). It is the only FDA approved product for the ultra-rare condition of life-threatening Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) due to sepsis or a septic condition requiring renal replacement therapy (RRT) in critically ill pediatric patients. SeaStar Medical’s Selective Cytopheretic Device (SCD) therapy has been awarded Breakthrough Device Designation for six therapeutic indications by the FDA, enabling the potential for a speedier pathway to approval and preferable reimbursement dynamics at commercial launch. The company is currently conducting the NEUTRALIZE-AKI pivotal clinical trial of its SCD therapy in adult patients with AKI requiring continuous renal replacement therapy, a life-threatening condition with no effective treatment options that impacts over 200,000 adults in the U.S. annually.

  • Data from pre-clinical renal disease models demonstrate potential of izicopan for kidney protection
  • Structural modeling provides new insight into izicopan’s differentiated molecular profile

Jena, Germany, Oct. 22, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — InflaRx N.V. (Nasdaq: IFRX), a biopharmaceutical company pioneering anti-inflammatory therapeutics by targeting the complement system, today announced the presentation of new pre-clinical data on izicopan in renal disease models at the American Society of Nephrology’s Kidney Week 2026, taking place in Denver, Colorado, October 21 – 25. The in vivo and in vitro data demonstrated that izicopan robustly inhibited C5aR-mediated inflammatory responses and provided renal protection, supporting its potential as a therapeutic candidate for complement-driven kidney diseases.

“The pre-clinical data presented at Kidney Week demonstrate the ability of izicopan to attenuate renal injury and provide a strong rationale for further development in renal diseases. Combined with its differentiated pharmacokinetic profile, including potentially reduced drug–drug interaction liability, faster onset of action, and more convenient dosing, we believe these results further support izicopan’s best-in-class potential,” said Renfeng Guo, MD, Chief Scientific Officer and Founder of InflaRx. “There is an important need for effective, safer treatment options for patients with complement-mediated inflammatory diseases, particularly in renal indications. We are excited to be advancing oral izicopan in ANCA-associated vasculitis as well as in additional kidney diseases.”

Izicopan was evaluated in two established hamster models of kidney injury: renal ischemia–reperfusion injury (IRI), a model of acute kidney injury, and unilateral ureteral obstruction (UUO)-induced nephropathy, a model of progressive renal injury and fibrosis. In both settings, oral izicopan significantly attenuated renal injury compared to vehicle-treated controls.

IRI model: A single oral dose of izicopan (100 mg/kg), administered four hours before surgery, significantly reduced plasma levels of the renal function markers creatinine and blood urea nitrogen (BUN) compared to vehicle (p < 0.001 for both). Izicopan also significantly improved the overall histopathological (H&E) score of the kidney, as well as the infarction and necrotic area scores (p < 0.05 for each).

UUO model: Izicopan, administered orally five hours before surgery and then once daily for 14 days, significantly reduced BUN levels (p < 0.001) and significantly improved the total H&E histopathological score (p < 0.05) compared to vehicle. Izicopan also showed a numerical trend toward reduced kidney fibrosis (p = NS), as assessed by Masson’s trichrome staining, and α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA)-positive cell counts.

The structural modeling presented provides new insight into the differentiated molecular profile of izicopan. Compared with avacopan, izicopan preserves the key structural features required for high-affinity C5aR1 binding, while its trifluoromethyl substituent reduces interaction with CYP3A4/5, providing a molecular rationale for its low potential for clinically relevant time-dependent inhibition (TDI).

The poster, entitled “Izicopan, a second-generation oral C5a receptor 1 (C5aR1) antagonist, demonstrates promising therapeutic potential in kidney disease models”, can be accessed here.

About izicopan
Izicopan is an orally administered, small molecule inhibitor of the C5a receptor (C5aR) that has shown anti-inflammatory therapeutic effects in several pre-clinical disease models and in human studies. InflaRx is planning for development of izicopan in ANCA-associated vasculitis (AAV) and additional renal indications.

In contrast to the marketed C5aR inhibitor, in vitro experiments demonstrated that izicopan does not exhibit time-dependent inhibition of cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4/5), which plays an important role in the metabolism of a variety of metabolites and drugs, including glucocorticoids. Izicopan has also demonstrated a favorable reactive metabolite profile in human liver microsomes. Reported results from a first-in-human study demonstrated that izicopan was well tolerated in treated subjects and exhibited no safety signals of concern in single doses ranging from 3 mg to 240 mg or multiple doses ranging from 30 mg once per day to 90 mg twice per day for 14 days. Pharmacokinetic / pharmacodynamic data support the best-in-class potential of izicopan, with a ≥90% blockade of C5a-induced neutrophil activation achieved over the 14-day dosing period. Topline Phase 2a data further support the safety profile of izicopan, with no reported safety signals of concern. In patients with hidradenitis suppurativa, over 4 weeks of therapy, izicopan provided rapid and clinically meaningful reductions in abscesses and nodules and draining tunnels, robust HiSCR responses that continued to deepen four weeks after the treatment period, and substantial reductions in patient-reported pain scores, overall demonstrating the potential for biologic-like efficacy. In chronic spontaneous urticaria, InflaRx observed substantial reductions in the 7-day Urticaria Activity Score (UAS7) broadly across patients and particularly in those with severe disease, as well as improved disease control as measured by the Urticaria Control Test (UCT7).

About InflaRx
InflaRx (Nasdaq: IFRX) is a biopharmaceutical company pioneering anti-inflammatory therapeutics by applying its proprietary anti-C5a and anti-C5aR technologies to discover, develop and commercialize highly potent and specific inhibitors of the complement activation factor C5a and its receptor, C5aR. C5a is a powerful inflammatory mediator involved in the progression of a wide variety of inflammatory diseases. InflaRx‘s lead program is izicopan, an orally administered small molecule inhibitor of C5a-induced signaling via the C5a receptor, which has shown promising PK/PD characteristics as well as therapeutic potential in Phase 1 and Phase 2a clinical studies. The Company is developing izicopan for the treatment of ANCA-associated vasculitis and additional renal diseases.
