What’s Your Love Language? Cleaning, According to Seventh Generation Survey

Report commissioned by the brand unveils cleaning’s role in both turning us on and in giving us the ick

BURLINGTON, Vt., Aug. 14, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Seventh Generation today revealed sex and relationship advice can come from the most unexpected source: a leader in effective biobased household cleaning products. Forget words of affirmation. The brand released findings from a survey conducted in partnership with market research and data analytics firm National Research Group and found that more than half of Americans (54%) say cleaning is their love language.

What’s more, 85% of Americans say that cleaning up for someone is an act of love. But cleaning can also cause friction in relationships. Nearly two out of three Americans have been turned off by someone because their home was messy, and one in three have ended a relationship due to a partner’s cleanliness. Other key survey findings include:

  • Cleaning together heats things up. 75% of Americans say that sharing chores is more romantic than giving gifts.
  • Doing the dishes unprompted brings the spice from the kitchen to the bedroom. Two-thirds of Americans say that a partner doing the dishes without being asked is more romantic than delivering a dozen roses.
  • Who needs glistening abs or a hot rod when bae keeps their house sparkling clean? A date is four times more likely (78%) to appreciate a clean home than a companion who goes to the gym regularly (22%). They’re also eight times more likely (89%) to prefer someone with a clean home than one with a nice car (11%).
  • Cleaning is a sign of respect and a point of frustration in relationships. Nearly eight in 10 Americans believe a clean home reflects how much you respect your boo. Six in 10 say they get frustrated with their other half when the house isn’t clean.

“Cleaning is a major part of one’s daily routine – it’s something we use to create individual harmony and control. But it’s clear from these findings that this activity isn’t just about checking items off your own to-do list,” said relationship and online dating expert Jess Carbino, PhD. “According to Seventh Generation’s new survey, cleaning has the power to shift your to-dos from the kitchen sink to between the sheets! As an expert in what turns us on, I’m fascinated to see the impact cleaning can have in driving collective harmony and in kindling romance.”

Sure, cleaning is sexy. But cleaning with EPA Safer-Choice certified products like Seventh Generation blends safety with steamy. And Seventh Generation’s biobased power tackles the toughest messes so you can not only get freaky with your partner but also forge deeper bonds of intimacy. Seven in 10 survey respondents said they “love when someone else cleans for them.” Looking for a way to freshen up your space and your relationship? It’s time to take note and try a little chore play!

Seventh Generation analyzed the results of a survey conducted by market research and data analytics firm National Research Group of 1,000 Americans. The findings reflect the data collected from survey respondents – which were weighted by gender, age, and U.S. regions to accurately represent national public opinion.

Growth Through Sustainability

This article is authored by Mauro Atalla, Senior Vice President and Chief Technology and Sustainability Officer, Trane Technologies.

In today’s rapidly evolving business landscape, innovative companies are debunking the idea that sustainability and profitability are mutually exclusive. At Trane Technologies, our robust sustainability strategy is embedded in our business plan, driving significant value and growth. Our commitment to sustainability is enhancing our operations and propelling our financial performance and innovation to new heights, while also helping our customers operate more sustainably.

A clear vision and solid business strategy

Sustainability and growth require long-term commitments. While Trane Technologies was launched just over five years ago, our core HVAC and refrigeration businesses are over 100 years old and our sustainability-focused business trajectory was set in motion nearly two decades ago.

When we became Trane Technologies in 2020, investors already valued our focus as a climate innovator and the alignment of our investments and business strategy. We embraced global megatrends, using them as a spur for new ideas and focusing our investment on sustainable innovation. Today, our full products and services portfolio is focused on improving energy efficiency for our customers and driving more sustainable outcomes.

Continued customer demand for more sustainable solutions and our focus on innovation have driven impressive financial performance, including a compound annual revenue growth rate of 12% since 2020 and a 286% increase in total shareholder returns over the same period, almost three times the rate of the S&P 500.

Sustainable practices provide a high return on investment

One common misconception is that sustainability is more expensive—but it pays off when it’s built into business strategy. We are a participating member of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Better Buildings Initiative, a program that partners with public and private sector leaders with the goal of improving energy efficiency in buildings and factories across the country. Its research shows that every dollar invested in building modernization returns an average of $3 in energy savings over five years. Considering rising energy costs and the fact that many inefficient buildings waste an average of 30% of energy after the meter, this convergence is the sweet spot for technology and innovation in our business.

Today, thermal management systems in our commercial HVAC portfolio are 70% more energy efficient than they were six years ago, and many offer heat recovery and energy storage to enhance energy optimization.

We see first-hand results in our own 100-year old La Crosse, Wisconsin facility, now operating with our Trane® Thermal BatteryTM Storage Source Heat Pump system, a first-of-its-kind solution to advance and integrate electrified, low-carbon heating and cooling and energy storage. The new system saved 15 million gallons of water in 2023—a reduction of 85% from the prior year. It is also estimated to reduce the overall energy use of the building by 28% compared to the previous system.

Trane’s humble beginnings were in this same century-old plant, and now it manufactures some of the largest, yet most efficient, chiller systems we make for high-tech semiconductor and data center industries.

A compelling demand for innovation

Our biggest decarbonization opportunity is reducing emissions related to the use of our products. This idea is what drives our Gigaton Challenge to reduce one billion metric tons of GHG emissions from our customers’ footprint by 2030 (from a 2019 baseline). Delivering on a commitment this big is transformational, not just for our business, but for us all.

Estimates show that electricity could represent up to 70% of final energy demand by 2050. This transition will require a massive expansion of clean power systems, and we can achieve it through the falling costs of renewables, increased availability of energy storage solutions and more solutions that simply reduce energy needs in the first place.

We helped Organon, a global pharmaceutical company in the Netherlands, optimize the heating and cooling needs of its largest production facility while supporting its 2035 carbon neutrality goal. The company is saving nearly 7,700 gigajoules of energy a year—equivalent to almost 243,000 cubic meters of gas—with the implementation of three high-efficiency heat pumps with energy recovery.

As electrified and highly-efficient systems are combined with AI-enhanced solutions and autonomous controls, buildings can be optimized for numerous variables such as weather, pollution, occupancy and building design, supercharging the ability to optimize energy performance.

Our customers’ sustainability and resiliency goals have also challenged us to reduce the carbon intensity associated with our products’ life cycles, which is why we expanded our 2030 Sustainability Commitments to reduce embodied carbon by 40%. Our focus is driving innovation in product development as we design products for circularity, and upstream with some of our most significant material suppliers of low-carbon steel, aluminum and copper.

This level of improvement, advancement and achievement is the result of a clearly defined long-term strategy, strong demand and a consistent commitment to innovation.

Engagement in culture and purpose

We believe innovation and growth come from everyone, so we actively nurture a culture that embraces all that people bring to our company. Our latest Annual Employee Engagement survey score of 82 out of 100, places us in the top quartile of external benchmarks. Additionally, our sustainability index, measuring team sentiment on our sustainability efforts, increased by 2 points, making it one of our highest engagement areas, underscoring the importance employees put on our sustainability-focused purpose.

We embed sustainability into our everyday work and operating model. Our Center for Energy Efficiency and Sustainability (CEES) has been at the heart of our sustainability efforts for 15 years. This dedicated team shapes our sustainability strategy, oversees product stewardship, and drives education and advocacy to elevate sustainability standards both within our company and globally.

We encourage salaried team members across the company to set at least one sustainability goal each year, and we integrate these objectives into their annual plans. We’ve also rapidly grown a global network of almost 1,000 Sustainability Ambassadors who help identify and replicate sustainable business practices across our global footprint.

These seemingly simple steps to engage our workforce in our sustainability strategy have a very real impact on scaling our efforts and empowering our people to own the actions that will help us grow.

Dedication to a bright future

We have a reputation as a strong operator dedicated to continuous improvement. We are known for credible action through climate innovation and advocacy, bold sustainability commitments that are leading our industry, and a highly engaged global workforce that is propelled by our purpose. This consistency and intentionality translates into growth, demonstrated in our latest Sustainability Report

One of the external financial analysts that monitors Trane Technologies put it this way, “Right place, right time, right culture to capitalize.” We couldn’t agree more.

Find a career at Trane Technologies that makes an impact.

Increasing water scarcity, urbanization, and industrialization across the globe are driving the demand for water recycle and reuse. With freshwater becoming scarce, the demand for water recycling as a sustainable method of water management is on the rise. Increasing environmental regulations and discharge standards are compelling industries and municipalities to implement water recycling solutions. Moreover, the high price of freshwater purchases and wastewater discharges is persuading consumers to invest in water reuse systems. Advances in technology have also improved treatment processes to become more efficient and cost-effective. All these factors are speeding up the implementation of water recycling in industrial, commercial, and residential applications.

Tertiary equipment is anticipated to be the largest segment in the water recycle and reuse market

Tertiary equipment constitutes the largest segment of the water recycle and reuse market because it provides the advanced treatment necessary to meet the quality requirements for reuse applications. Tertiary equipment typically includes complex treatment systems, such as membrane filtration, disinfection systems, activated carbon filters, and ion exchange systems. These systems effectively remove residual solids, nutrients, pathogens, and micropollutants, making the treated water suitable for non-potable and indirect potable reuse. As regulatory requirements tighten, the adoption of tertiary technologies in water recycling and reuse is growing rapidly. These technologies are becoming an essential part of modern reuse infrastructure, playing a crucial role in producing safe, high-quality reclaimed water for various reuse applications.

Above 100,000 liters is anticipated to be the largest segment in the water recycle and reuse market

The capacity above 100,000 liters accounts for the largest share of the water recycle and reuse market because it is best for large-scale municipal and industrial applications that require large volumes of wastewater treatment every day. Urban wastewater treatment plants, industrial sites, and commercial buildings require systems to handle large inflows, so larger systems are required. This capacity encourages reuse in such applications as irrigation, industrial cooling, and urban utility services that utilize a large volume of treated water for consistent periods. The government sets infrastructure projects and centralized treatment systems, which also tend to invest in large capacity systems to maximize efficiency, throughput, and minimize costs. Additionally, larger treatment systems tend to be better for compliance with regulatory discharges, reuse applications, and standards.

Industrial is anticipated to be the largest segment in the water recycle and reuse market

Industrial end-use accounts for the largest share of the water recycle and reuse market as industries consume and discharge higher volumes of water than any other industries (e.g., power generation, chemicals, textiles, oil & gas, food processing, and manufacturing). Industries need substantial water supplies for cooling, processing, cleaning, and boiler feed, and have great operational and economic incentives to recycle and/or reuse their water. There is also a growing global regulatory push to reduce freshwater withdrawal and effluent discharge while meeting environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals, which has resulted in significant capital investment in on-site water treatment and reuse systems. Additionally, industries are motivated to pursue zero-liquid discharge projects, which are also significant investments. Combined, these drivers benefit industry-wide sustainability initiatives as water security becomes increasingly important, and industries may need to implement their own sustainable practices in order to comply with customer demands and legislation.

Municipal wastewater is anticipated to be the largest segment in the water recycle and reuse market

Municipal wastewater holds the largest share in the water recycle and reuse industry due to consistent volume, centralized collection, and large application areas. Daily, a considerable amount of domestic sewage is generated in urban areas, and therefore, a reliable, concentrated source for water treatment and reuse. Governments and municipalities are investing in centralized wastewater infrastructure because of increasing urban population rates and the need for alternative water sources. Treated municipal wastewater is increasingly reused for non-potable applications like landscape irrigation, indoor toilet flushing, industrial cooling, and even indirect potable reuse. In addition, most regulatory and public infrastructure funding occurs from municipal systems, which make them the most easily scalable and cost-effective source of water in the context of water reuse.

Asia Pacific is expected to be the largest region in the global water recycle and reuse market

The Asia Pacific region accounted for the largest share of the water recycle and reuse market because of the region’s large population, high rate of industrialization, and increasing water stress across major economies in the region, including China, India, and countries in Southeast Asia. With the increasing demand for water in agriculture, manufacturing, and urban infrastructure, the public and private sectors are motivated to use advanced wastewater treatment and reuse systems. Countries in the Asia Pacific region have implemented stricter regulations and introduced policy incentives for water conservation and reuse. In addition to these factors, the strong industrial base and increasing deployment of cost-effective, energy-efficient technologies allow for broad-scale deployment of water recycling strategies in the Asia Pacific region.

The logo — revealed at the conclusion of the 5th World Federation of the Deaf (WFD) Conference in Nairobi, Kenya — celebrates a remarkable regional victory, with the winning design created by Husam Mohammad Elfara, a Deaf designer from the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

Scheduled for 19 to 23 September 2027, the Congress will bring over 2,000 participants from all over the world to Abu Dhabi to celebrate the richness of national sign languages, foster cross-border collaborations, and empower Deaf communities worldwide. Organized by the Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination (ZHO) in partnership with the UAE Deaf Association, this edition will be held under the theme “Sign Languages: Always and Everywhere,” emphasizing the universal role of sign language in connecting communities and advancing equality.

The logo emerged from a global design competition that attracted 41 entries from 14 countries, including strong participation from the Middle East — Palestine (11), UAE (8), Jordan (6), Sudan (3), Bahrain (2), Lebanon (2), and Yemen (2) — alongside submissions from Saudi Arabia, Oman, Morocco, India, Iran, the USA, and Pakistan. After rigorous review, 19 designs were shortlisted, underscoring the dynamic creativity and global engagement of Deaf communities worldwide. The winning design by Husam Mohammad Elfara reflects the growing influence and creative talent of the region’s Deaf communities in shaping the visual identity of this historic Congress.

The logo blends universal Deaf culture with Emirati heritage. At its center is a stylized open hand — an international emblem of sign language and Deaf identity — symbolizing openness, communication, and inclusion. Encircling the hand is a circular motif inspired by traditional Emirati patterns, representing unity, cultural pride, and global connection. Presented bilingually in Arabic and English, the design underscores the Congress’s commitment to accessibility and inclusivity while honoring the UAE’s cultural identity as host nation.

“Bringing the ‘World’s Congress of the World Federation of the Deaf’ to Abu Dhabi for the first time in the Middle East is more than an honor — it is a defining moment for our nation’s commitment to inclusivity,” said H.E Abdullah Abudalee Al Humaidan General Secretary of ZHO. “This Congress will shine a global spotlight on the UAE’s vision of empowering people of determination, breaking barriers, and celebrating their invaluable contributions to society. The unveiling of this logo symbolizes not just the beginning of an event, but the promise of a transformative journey where thousands of Deaf participants from around the world will connect, inspire, and shape a more inclusive future together in Abu Dhabi.”

Echoing this, Mr. Musabah Saeed Al Neyadi, Chair of the Organizing Committee and representative of the Deaf communities, said: “This Congress is a celebration of our identity and our language. The new logo, created by a Deaf designer from our region, reflects our shared values of openness and unity. It invites the world to come to Abu Dhabi and witness the power of sign language in bringing communities together.”

Dr. Joseph J. Murray, President of the World Federation of the Deaf, added: “The XX World’s Congress of the World Federation of the Deaf’ is where Deaf communities gather to share knowledge, advocate for rights, and envision the future. Abu Dhabi’s hosting will set a new benchmark for inclusion and innovation, and this logo launch captures the unity and creativity at the heart of this global movement.”

Held every four years since 1951, the ‘World’s Congress of the World Federation of the Deaf’ is the world’s leading platform dedicated to advancing the rights, recognition, and inclusion of Deaf people. The Abu Dhabi edition will bring together Deaf leaders, advocates, educators, and policymakers for plenary sessions, cultural programs, and networking forums. Upholding WFD’s core values of human rights and equality, the Congress fosters global unity, celebrates sign languages, and serves as a catalyst for social change and cultural recognition — with the 2027 edition poised to mark a defining chapter in the Middle East’s engagement with the global Deaf community.

TAIPEI, Aug. 14, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (IDX: BBRI) has expanded into Taiwan and East Asia with the launch of BRI Taipei Branch, located at No. 166, Sec. 3, Nanjing East Road, Zhongshan District, Taipei City.

At the Grand Launching Ceremony on Friday, August 8, 2025, Hery Gunardi, BRI’s President Director, highlighted, “As the only Indonesian bank branch in Taiwan, BRI Taipei Branch is positioned as a comprehensive financial hub, serving around 360,000 Indonesian migrant workers with remittance, savings, and investment solutions to support their future financial planning.”

BRI Taipei Branch offers integrated financial services including savings, financing, and remittances, while introducing the Advance FX Licence and BRI ATM cards compatible with Taiwan’s banking infrastructure.

“Looking ahead, we also plan for BRI Taipei Branch to serve as an investment gateway from Taiwan to Indonesia, helping investors channel their funds through both direct and indirect investment avenues. With more competitive investment yields, we believe this will attract greater interest from Taiwanese investors,” added Hery.

At the same launching event, Arif Sulistyo, Head of the Indonesian Economic and Trade Office to Taipei, said BRI’s presence would boost Indonesia–Taiwan economic ties, noting nearly 400,000 Indonesians, mainly in caregiving and manufacturing, now reside in Taiwan.

“Formal Indonesian migrant workers in Taiwan’s manufacturing sector earn approximately 28,590 NTD (IDR 14 million), while those in domestic roles earn around 20,000 NTD (IDR 10 million). Each month, 4,000 to 6,000 new workers arrive in Taiwan, contributing to remittance flows exceeding IDR 40 trillion annually,” explained Arif.
