GOODYEAR TO DONATE LAST REMAINING GZ20-ERA BLIMP GONDOLA TO THE EAA MUSEUM FOR A CHILDREN’S EXHIBIT

With this donation, Goodyear is also giving fans a once-in-a-lifetime chance to own a piece of the blimp

AKRON, Ohio, July 21, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — On opening day of the 2025 Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) AirVenture Oshkosh show, The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company (NASDAQ: GT) announced that it will donate its last-remaining blimp gondola frame to the EAA Museum as part of a new children’s exhibit.

The gondola frame is from Goodyear’s GZ20 model era of blimps that spanned nearly 40 years. In that time period, as one blimp retired, its gondola was often refurbished for a new blimp. The gondola frame being donated to the EAA Museum was previously used on the Europa, Goodyear’s Blimp that flew throughout Europe in the 1980s, and on the Florida-based Stars and Stripes in the early 2000s. This tradition ended in 2011 when Goodyear began the transition to the New Technology (NT) semi-rigid airship platform that remains in place for its fleet of airships still today.

As part of this year’s celebration of the Goodyear Blimp’s 100th anniversary, this gesture marks another way for Goodyear to preserve the history of its airships program and carry the legacy of the Goodyear Blimp forward for future generations.

“As we celebrate our blimp program’s 100th anniversary, there’s no better way to honor its legacy than by inspiring the next generation of aviation enthusiasts,” said Michael Dougherty, Goodyear’s Chief Pilot. “We hope this exhibit sparks curiosity and dreams of flight on aircraft of all kinds in countless children into the future.”

Goodyear’s Blimp flying has been an iconic part of aviation for a century, so this donation is a great fit as part of our museum’s mission to tell the story of flight,” said Chris Henry, EAA Aviation Museum Manager. “Just as Goodyear Blimps have brought fascination with flight, this donation will be part of a future exhibit that inspires those with aviation dreams.”

Limited-Edition Keepsake Item Gives Fans a Once-in-a-Lifetime Chance to Own a Piece of the Goodyear Blimp
Along with the gondola donation, Goodyear is also offering fans the unique chance to take home a piece of the Goodyear Blimp. The Spirit of Goodyear keepsake item includes a genuine piece of envelope that flew with the Spirit of Goodyear blimp across North America from 2000 to 2014, wrapped in a commemorative 100th anniversary box. Christened by NASA Astronaut and the first American woman in space Sally Ride in March of 2000, the Spirit of Goodyear went on to become one of Goodyear’s most decorated blimps. It holds the Guinness World Record for the longest continuously operated airship, and it was the first blimp to provide aerial TV coverage of a sporting event in high definition. When the Spirit of Goodyear retired in 2014, Goodyear donated its gondola to the Crawford Aviation Museum in Cleveland but retained its envelope, which is now a piece of this limited-edition keepsake item.

The Spirit of Goodyear keepsake item is now available for purchase while supplies last by visiting the Goodyear Fan Store: Goodyear | Blimp Keepsake Box. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the EAA Museum to contribute to the children’s museum build.

Goodyear’s 2025 Presence at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh
This year, Goodyear Aviation will, once again, be located at booth (#489), where the latest aviation tires and technology will be on display. Additionally, as part of the Goodyear Blimp’s centennial celebrations, Goodyear is sending two blimps to Oshkosh for the first time. Wingfoot One, with its vintage wrap inspired by the very first branded Goodyear Blimp Pilgrim, will participate in daytime airshows throughout the week, and Wingfoot Two, with its LED sign, will participate in nighttime airshows. Fans can follow along @Goodyear and @GoodyearBlimp on social media for updates throughout the week.

How the Logistics Industry Is Unlocking Youth Employment Opportunities in South Africa

With South Africa’s youth unemployment rate sitting at a staggering 62.4%, finding sustainable job opportunities for young people has become an urgent national priority. While many sectors are stagnating, logistics is booming – fueled by the rise of e-commerce, digital innovation and global trade – creating a new wave of career paths.

“From supply chain analytics and IT systems integration to customer experience and compliance, logistics is evolving into a dynamic, tech-enabled industry that offers diverse professional avenues for South Africa’s youth,” said Gregory Saffy, managing director for Sub-Saharan African Operations at FedEx.

While traditional roles like drivers, packers and sorters will always be essential, they are increasingly supported by technology-driven processes. This shift creates additional opportunities for young people looking for more technology focused roles.

“Logistics isn’t what it used to be,” said Saffy. “The real competitive advantage now lies in digital capability, especially in areas like data analytics and systems thinking. We’re seeing more engineers and analysts in the business than ever before, guiding operations and enabling automation at scale.”

Beyond data analytics and IT roles, compliance and customs clearance are also emerging as key growth areas for job creation. Saffy highlights the development of a formalised customs qualification as a major step forward for the industry.

“We’re seeing progress in the creation of a national customs clearance certification that will give individuals a recognised qualification, including those with practical experience but no matric pass,” said Saffy. “This will create a clear career path and raise the overall standard of compliance across the industry.”

FedEx is already enrolling its customs clerks into newly developed courses in freight forwarding and customs compliance. In addition to formalising technical knowledge, these programmes also focus on future-ready skills like digital literacy, data analysis and critical thinking.

For young people without access to formal education, FedEx offers a clear entry point through its Yes Learnerships. “Our 12-month programme combines training, mentoring and practical work experience,” said Saffy. “Since 2019, we’ve onboarded more than 150 unemployed youth through YES, with more than 60 going on to become permanent employees. It’s a powerful model for bridging the gap between education and employment.”

In parallel, FedEx runs a dedicated learnership programme for youth living with disabilities, offering an NQF Level 4 certificate in business administration. This includes coaching, blended learning and real-world operational experience – helping to build inclusive, work-ready skills pipelines.

FedEx commitment to building inclusive talent pipelines is a powerful example of how private sector investment in skills development can help unlock opportunities and start turning the tide on youth unemployment.

“Logistics is a gateway to global trade,” said Saffy. “It’s no longer just about moving parcels; it’s about managing complexity in a fast-paced, tech-driven environment. With the right support and training, South Africa’s youth can thrive in this space.”

CHARTER JOINS ‘INVEST IN AMERICA’ TRUMP ACCOUNTS INITIATIVE, DEEPENING SUPPORT FOR EMPLOYEES AND THEIR FAMILIES

Company to Match Federal Contributions to Help Build a Stronger Financial Future for Spectrum Employees and their Children

STAMFORD, Conn., July 21, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Charter Communications, which operates under the Spectrum brand in its local communities, today announced its participation in the federal “Invest in America” Trump Accounts initiative, further strengthening the Company’s commitment to its 100% U.S.-based employee workforce. Charter will match the federal government’s $1,000 contribution for its employees’ children, doubling the impact of the program for thousands of working families across the country. In addition, the Company plans to offer employees additional ways to direct their own pay into their children’s “Invest in America” Trump Accounts.

“When employees know their children have a pathway to financial security, it shapes how they view their future and their place at Spectrum – that’s good for customers and our communities, and that’s good business,” said Chris Winfrey, President and CEO of Charter Communications. “Our participation in ‘Invest in America’ Trump Accounts benefits the children of Spectrum employees with a dollar-for-dollar match of the government’s $1,000 investment. This initiative helps nurture future prosperity, supporting our employees and their families as we grow together.”

Charter’s participation in “Invest in America” Trump Accounts builds on its broader commitment to employee financial security, and specifically, its frontline, U.S.-based sales and service workforce. The Company recently introduced an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP) that gives employees the option to purchase Charter stock and receive matching Restricted Stock Units (RSUs) based on tenure. In the ESPP’s first six-month enrollment window, nearly 20% of eligible employees participated. Charter also offers a market-leading retirement plan with a Company contribution of up to 9% of eligible pay per year; comprehensive health benefits for which Charter has absorbed the full annual cost increase for the last 12 years; and a starting wage of at least $20 per hour, nearly three times the federal minimum wage.

Promoting financial well-being is one part of Charter’s investment in its workforce, alongside meaningful opportunities for development and career growth. High quality craftsmanship from U.S.-based employees is what Spectrum customers want and why the Company backs its work with a market-leading Customer Commitment for reliable connectivity, same-day service and money-back guarantees when these standards aren’t met.

Charter’s Education Benefit covers 100% of tuition costs for full-time employees pursuing select degrees and certificates, and its self-progression programs for frontline roles provide the opportunity for employees to advance their careers and increase their earnings. In Field Operations for example, employees complete coursework and receive a $500 completion bonus to advance to the next level, earning up to a 10% increase in their hourly wage with each new level. The Company also intends to create a path for employees to direct these completion bonuses to their children’s “Invest in America” Trump Accounts.

By participating in “Invest in America” Trump Accounts, Charter is extending its long-standing employee support to directly benefit the next generation. This new benefit adds to the Company’s broader strategy to attract and retain talent, strengthen families and support employees at every stage of life.

Tag along with Jay at CISCE: How wind and solar are powering a zero-carbon future?

BEIJING, July 21, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — This is a report from China.org.cn:

British visitor Jay Ian Birbeck explored the clean energy section of the third China International Supply Chain Expo, an event showcasing the full breadth of the global supply chain in Beijing from July 16 to 20.

Here, visitors can find the complete clean energy cycle from supply to consumption, showcasing all the latest technologies and developments in solar, wind, energy storage, hydrogen, low-carbon traditional energy, and zero-carbon industrial parks. Besides individual company exhibits, this year also features regional team-ups where companies from the same area group together. As this year’s guest province, Shandong has assembled 14 leading clean energy companies for a blockbuster debut.

At the booth of Goman Hi-tech Thin Film Solar Energy Technology (Zibo), Jay noticed a solar-powered parasol. It features 80-watt solar panels and can fully charge a 32,000 mAh battery in just five hours, which is enough to charge seven phones completely or power 10 hours of lighting.

At the booth of North Star Advanced Recycling Technology (Qingdao), Jay saw some “eggs.” Actually, these are recycled materials that the company uses for battery remanufacturing. The company aims to achieve a zero-waste urban future by creating a circular and sustainable ecosystem.

At the booth of Qingdao Huastro Energy Technology, Jay encountered some wind turbines different from conventional ones. These towers adopt prestressed framed steel tubular wind turbine tower technology, using a four-point foundation with each footing exposing only 1.5 square meters. With this innovation, the towers can reach 160 meters, and even up to 200 meters.

At the booth of Hebei Toushi Jingkai Technology in the Weichang county exhibition area, Jay was surprised with some “green diamonds.” Here, “green” doesn’t refer to the color, but to their production, which is powered by clean electricity from wind and solar.

At the booth of CF Hydrogen Energy Industry (Hebei), Jay observed green hydrogen production. With sunlight, light-sensitive semiconductors split water into hydrogen. He learned that while green hydrogen remains expensive worldwide, the International Energy Agency has forecast that its price will drop below 20 yuan per kilogram by 2030. Remarkably, the company has already achieved this five years ahead of schedule.

From Chinese innovation to global cooperation, this expo presents not only the entire clean energy industrial chain but also a chain of cooperation and shared success in tackling climate change!

Principal® Volunteers: Meet Chris, Marketing Operations Lead Strategist

Chris, marketing operations lead strategist

  • Work passion: Forging connections between people and technology
  • Volunteer passion: Keeping her local beach clean and safe
  • Taking intentional walks along the beach

Before logging in to work, I walk a mile-and-a-half-stretch of Fort Myers Beach picking up debris. It gives me the opportunity to exercise, act as a beach ambassador, and make a difference. After Hurricane Ian devastated our island in 2022, each subsequent storm (and even high tide) has continued to bring in an assortment of items back onto the beach—from small items like DVDs and shoes to larger items like mattresses and pool furniture.

Helping people and sea creatures enjoy the beach

Our beach is our backyard, and we need to keep it clean and safe to be a viable place to live and visit—for humans and all creatures. A number of endangered shore birds and sea turtles nest on our beach each year. A lot of the debris can be very hazardous to them if they ingest it, get tangled in it, or run into it.

Doubling my impact

People on the island find it hard to believe Principal® and Principal® Foundation offer such generous matching/volunteer reward programs. I max out my volunteer rewards dollars every year and contribute those funds to nonprofits on Fort Myers Beach, helping extend relief these organizations provide to those devastated by the hurricane, as well as helping these organizations get back on their own two feet.
