EAST PALO ALTO, Calif., June 20, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Emirates and the United States Tennis Association Foundation (USTA Foundation) have joined forces to present brand new tennis courts to the community of East Palo Alto as part of Emirates’ “Force for Good” court rejuvenation initiative. The world’s largest international airline’s contribution of USD 500,000 supported the construction of one of the six new courts in the California city in addition to funding programmes by East Palo Alto Tennis and Tutoring (EPATT) to benefit youth in the community.
The global airline donated the funds as part of its five-year commitment of USD 2.5 million to support court rejuvenation projects across US cities. East Palo Alto is the second US city to benefit from Emirates’ partnership with the USTA Foundation for the provision of new tennis courts, following on from last year’s refurbishment of three tennis courts in Brooklyn’s De Hostos Playground, also made possible with a donation of USD 500,000 from Emirates.
The ‘Force for Good’ initiative uplifts communities and creates opportunities for youth of all ages to develop their sporting skills and engage in educational programs that contribute to their future success and overall wellbeing. Besides the construction of the new tennis courts which began last year, the funding will continue to support academic programming on-site and grants for youth who are talented in the sport of tennis and college scholarships.
The six brand new tennis courts were unveiled during a ribbon-cutting ceremony inaugurated by officials from Emirates, USTA Foundation and EPATT in the presence of public officials representing the city of East Palo Alto. Legendary tennis coach Paul Goldstein was present to showcase the new courts with the first match, along with kids from the community who benefit from EPATT’s programming and facilities.
With the airline’s funding, Emirates has the naming rights to a tennis court, marked by a commemorative plaque and presented to Matthew Jones, Emirates’ VP – USA in acknowledgment of the airline’s contributions that enabled the initiative in East Palo Alto.
For the next three years Emirates’ funding is earmarked to support additional projects that will touch the lives of youth and families across the nation.
Emirates is the Official Airline of the US Open and has been a proud partner since 2012. The airline began its US operations with services to New York JFK in 2004, and today operates to 12 US cities, including two points in California, Los Angeles and San Francisco, in addition to Boston, Houston, Chicago, Washington D.C., Seattle, Newark, Dallas, Miami, Orlando, and New York JFK.
As a global airline, Emirates’ “Force for Good” initiative also supports social impact initiatives touching the lives of youth in local communities across the UK in partnership with Wimbledon. Fifth Third Announces Three-Year, $20M Investment in North Nashville
CINCINNATI, June 20, 2025 /3BL/ – Fifth Third (NASDAQ: FITB) and Nashville leaders announced today that North Nashville will join the Fifth Third Neighborhood Program, bringing an influx of $20 million over three years to help revitalize the community.
“Fifth Third could not be more excited to bring our innovative Neighborhood Program to North Nashville,” said Kala Gibson, chief corporate responsibility officer for Fifth Third. “We piloted our place-based economic development program back in 2019 and rolled it out in nine neighborhoods across our footprint in 2021. We have invested nearly $255 million since that time and witnessed generational, transformative change. We’re thrilled about the opportunity to apply what we’ve learned and help North Nashville realize similar outcomes and impact.”
In partnership with Affordable Housing Resources, Inc., Pathway Lending and United Way of Greater Nashville, Fifth Third and lead technical assistance partner Enterprise Community Partners will help community members implement their economic mobility roadmap that will help advance economic mobility and financial inclusion for the residents and businesses of North Nashville.
To support this work, Fifth Third is pledging a $20 million investment in traditional financial and philanthropic capital in North Nashville over the next three years, including $1 million each to Affordable Housing Resources and the United Way from the Fifth Third Foundation.
“As a long-time resident of North Nashville I welcome this investment in our neighborhoods,” said Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell. “We’ve been trying to shift how we invest in North Nashville. Recently, we’ve taken a special budgeting process and directed hundreds of thousands of dollars into four North Nashville Council districts. Then, we put $1 million directly into a multi-year effort anchored at Matthew Walker Comprehensive Health Center focused on lowering blood pressure. We’ve started to lower electric bills through a new insulation partnership with NES. And at least $7 million in federal funding to help North Nashville continue to recover from the long-term impacts of the 2020 tornado.
“Now we will amplify those investments with a $20 million commitment from Fifth Third that will result in community development through housing preservation, small business assistance, and vacant lot activation. Community members will see the results starting later this year,” Mayor O’Connell said.
Nashville’s economic mobility roadmap includes several key focus areas: growing housing and homeownership, such as by developing and preserving affordable housing; investing in small businesses and community wealth-building, such as by expanding access to capital and business planning; investing in people-based programs and services, such as by supporting education-to-career pathways; and investing in infrastructure and environmental priorities, such as by addressing tornado damage and highway impacts.
“I am thrilled that North Nashville has been selected for Fifth Third’s Neighborhood Program,” said David Briggs, Tennessee region president for Fifth Third Bank. “The North Nashville community embodies both the rich history of this city and the promise and challenges of its future. This investment of financial and intellectual capital illustrates Fifth Third’s commitment to ensuring that all the members of the North Nashville community can share in its growth and truly make their lives a Fifth Third Better.”
Fifth Third prioritizes broadening financial access and neighborhood revitalization through its Neighborhood Program, a community development initiative launched in 2021 which creates and implements innovative place-based strategies to effect positive change in historically disinvested neighborhoods across the Bank’s 11-state consumer bank footprint.
The program is pioneering a new place-based approach to community development by partnering with a lead partner organization, Enterprise Community Partners, and local organizations to build ecosystems that drive real change through both financial and social investments. This collective ecosystem approach is focused on identifying solutions to key challenges in partnership with the community, with the goal of creating lasting, transformative change.
The place-based concept was piloted in 2019 in Detroit’s Gratiot & Seven Mile neighborhood. Two years later, the program expanded into the Neighborhood Program, adding nine additional neighborhoods in seven states.
Through the Neighborhood Program, Fifth Third has directly invested nearly $255 million across the nine neighborhoods. That investment helped catalyze over $200 million in additional investment. The result: $455 million in total Fifth Third-driven investments and tangible community impact, including:
- 584 new rental homes developed to increase the supply of affordable rental housing;
- 437 existing homes preserved;
- 1,932 homeowners assisted through purchase assistance, classes, repairs, and other programs;
- 926 small businesses supported through technical assistance and other programs;
- 70 key positions filled to help community organizations build capacity;
- $25 million in philanthropic investment by Fifth Third.

Hydropower Plants Market to Reach $318.3 Billion by 2032, Growing at 3% CAGR–Exclusive Report by Meticulous Research®
Market Growth Driven by Renewable Energy Demand, Government Support for Hydropower Projects, and Rising Adoption of Micro Hydropower Plants
REDDING, Calif., June 20, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — According to a new market research report titled “Hydropower Plants Market: Size & Forecast by Component (Solutions [Electromechanical and Hydraulic Equipment, Electric Infrastructure, Civil Infrastructure], Services), Capacity, Type, and Geography – Global Forecast and Analysis to 2032“, the hydropower plants market is projected to reach $318.3 billion by 2032, growing at a CAGR of 3% during the forecast period from 2025 to 2032.
The growth of the hydropower plants market is mainly driven by the increasing global demand for renewable energy sources and the urgent need for sustainable power generation solutions. Rising government support for hydropower generation projects worldwide, combined with the growing adoption of micro hydropower plants due to their low maintenance requirements and easy replacement capabilities, is creating significant momentum for market expansion. The increasing utilization of kinetic energy from flowing water for electricity generation presents substantial opportunities for clean energy development.
Substantial investments from both established energy companies and innovative hydropower technology firms are accelerating market development, demonstrating strong confidence in the transformative potential of hydroelectric power systems. The growing focus on climate change mitigation and the shift towards cleaner energy sources further amplifies this momentum, with organizations recognizing the critical importance of renewable energy solutions that can provide reliable, long-term power generation while supporting environmental sustainability goals.

Current market dynamics reveal significant momentum in specific technology segments. The Solutions component, encompassing electromechanical equipment, hydraulic systems, and electric infrastructure, is experiencing the highest growth trajectory due to surging demand for advanced turbine and generator technologies. Small hydropower plants are gaining traction in rural electrification projects, with governments in China, Brazil, the U.S., Canada, India, and Japan leading major construction initiatives. Market Challenges and Implementation Barriers
The hydropower plants market faces specific challenges that impact project development timelines and economics. High initial construction costs remain the primary barrier to project deployment, particularly affecting smaller operators and developing economies. These upfront capital requirements often necessitate complex financing arrangements and long-term investment commitments.
Environmental and regulatory challenges also present significant obstacles. International conflicts over water management create uncertainty for cross-border hydropower projects, while climate change impacts on local hydrological conditions introduce risk factors for long-term project viability. Projects must navigate extensive environmental assessment processes and obtain multiple regulatory approvals before construction can begin.
“While hydropower is a mature technology with proven benefits, successful project development requires careful consideration of environmental impacts and local water resource management,” noted Uddhav Sable, Research Director at Meticulous Research®. “The industry must balance economic viability with environmental stewardship to ensure sustainable long-term growth.”
