Whirlpool Corporation Named One of America’s Most Innovative Companies 2025 by Fortune

For the third year in a row, Whirlpool Corporation has been named one of “America’s Most Innovative Companies 2025” by Fortune, recognizing its continued leadership in pioneering home appliance solutions that improve life at home. The prestigious list honors companies demonstrating outstanding innovation across product development, business processes, and corporate culture.

“It is an incredible honor to once again be recognized as one of Fortune’s Most Innovative Companies,” said Roberto Campos, executive vice president of Whirlpool Corporation’s Global Product Organization and Strategic Sourcing. “For more than a century, Whirlpool Corporation has been at the forefront of innovation in home appliances, finding new ways to improve life at home by making it simpler and more enjoyable to cook, clean and care for the people who matter most.”

Whirlpool Corp.’s dedication to innovation is reflected in its groundbreaking product advancements. This includes the introduction of JennAir Induction Downdraft Cooktop technology to the North American market. This cooktop allows you to remove kitchen air cooking vapors and odors with powerful extraction that works 5x faster than steam can rise, helping to maintain a pleasant kitchen environment. The cooktop’s slim profile liberates any space from bulky hoods and cabinet constraints, making even floating islands a reality.

The Maytag PetPro Front Load Laundry System is specifically designed to conquer pet hair, and is now available in front load and top load configurations. In the washer, the Pet Pro Option, which can be used on any wash cycle, unleashes additional water, a dedicated filter and a deep rinse to lift and remove pet hair. The Maytag Pet Pro dryer traps and removes loads of pet hair from clothes in the lint trap with the Pet Pro option.

Other recent innovations include KitchenAid Smart Double Wall Oven with Assisted Cook Cycles, InSinkErator MultiGrind Technology, Spin&Load Dishwasher Rack and many more.

The ranking is based on a unique methodology that combines employee and expert surveys with patent data and a review by Fortune’s expert advisory board. A survey of 40,000 US employees and 2,500 experts was conducted to gather feedback in three main areas: product innovation, process innovation, and innovation culture. Fortune then used a Patent Asset Index and further analysis to finalize the list. This ranking recognizes only the top 300 companies out of the thousands that are analyzed.

Eshel Releases Trans Resource Guide to Support Orthodox Jewish Trans and LGBTQ+ Individuals and Families

Orthodox Jewish Trans Advocate Rabbi Mike Moskowitz to Be Featured Speaker at Eshel’s Parent Retreat, May 8-11, 2025, at Pearlstone Center, MD; Launches Ad Campaign

NEW YORK, April 21, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — During this unsettling moment when LGBTQ+ individuals, and especially those who are trans, feel threatened, Eshel (www.eshelonline.org) is releasing a Trans Resource Guide in response to the many calls of anxiety, panic, and uncertainty from Orthodox Jewish LGBTQ+ individuals and their parents.

To address parents’ concerns and fears in the current anti-trans climate, Eshel has invited Orthodox Jewish Rabbi Mike Moskowitz, as featured speaker at its Parent Retreat at the Pearlstone Conference Center in Reisterstown, MD on May 8-11, 2025. Moskowitz, who has three ordinations from ultra-Orthodox Yeshivas, became a trans advocate when a young person in his family came out as trans. Reporters are invited to attend and cover.

Eshel’s Trans Resource Guide features legislative, legal, medical, financial, mental health national and state resources, as well as opportunities for volunteer and allyship.

In addition, the nonprofit is kicking off a “We all belong” advertising campaign series that is an open letter to the Orthodox Jewish community.

“This year’s Parent Retreat takes on even more immediacy given that we serve a large number of parents of trans individuals in addition to the entire queer community,” said Miryam Kabakov, Eshel’s co-founder and Executive Director. “We are fortifying the entire community with resources to help them feel less vulnerable and alone.

“The Parent Retreat is a unique opportunity for parents at all stages of their journey to gather, receive support and create community, which is especially important since parents share a distinct concern about their families’ acceptance by the Orthodox Jewish community,” Kabakov added.

Please contact me for a copy of the Resource Guide, and for interviews with Kabakov, Rabbi Moskowitz, and parents either at the Pearlsone Center or via Zoom or phone.

Eshel:

Eshel’s mission is to build LGBTQ+ inclusive Orthodox Jewish communities. Eshel envisions a world where LGBTQ+ people and their families are full participants in the Orthodox community of their choice. It envisions a world where LGBTQ+ people and their families are full participants in the Orthodox community of their choice.

IOC Session Celebrates the Achievements of Olympic Agenda

International Olympic Committee news

IOC Members meeting at the 144th Session in Greece, celebrated the achievements of Olympic Agenda. In a series of presentations, the highlights of the Olympic Agenda reforms and their impacts on the IOC and the wider Olympic Movement were outlined. They included a 30-minute film showcasing the achievements of the reforms with powerful testimonials from individuals, personalities and organisations, all of whom have been positively impacted.

The wide-ranging reforms of Olympic Agenda (Olympic Agenda 2020 and Olympic Agenda 2020+5) have changed the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the Olympic Games and the Olympic Movement profoundly. Launched under the motto “Change or be changed” and based on the widest-ever consultation process, the reform programme initiated by IOC President Thomas Bach was unanimously approved by the 127th IOC Session in Monaco in December 2014.

These reforms followed a year of discussion and consultation with all stakeholders of the Olympic Movement, together with external experts and the general public. More than 40,000 submissions were received from the public during the process, generating some 1,200 ideas.

Fourteen Working Groups synthesised the discussions and debates throughout the whole Olympic Movement and wider society before they were finalised by the Executive Board ahead of the 127th Session.

Work on implementation began immediately after the reforms were adopted. Among other things, work began on the Olympic Channel. The new Invitation Phase was launched for the Olympic Games in 2024, allowing cities to present an Olympic project that best matched their long-term sports, economic, social and environmental plans. Some of the reforms were also included in the 2022 process, in close cooperation with the Games candidates.

Olympic Agenda 2020+5 succeeded Olympic Agenda 2020 and set the direction of travel for the IOC and the Olympic Movement to 2025. It consists of a set of 15 recommendations that were motivated by five influential contemporary trends, all of which were identified as areas where sport and the values of Olympism had a key role to play.

Introducing the reforms of Olympic Agenda to the Session, IOC President, Thomas Bach, explained: “In Paris, we have seen our Olympic Agenda come to life. In many ways, the Olympic Games Paris 2024 represent the culmination of our long journey together. This journey began over a decade ago, when we unanimously adopted the Olympic Agenda 2020 reforms.” He continued, “We set in motion the most far-reaching reform programme of our Olympic Movement at least in recent history. What is more, we embarked on a journey of change. It was a journey of collaboration, modernisation and determination. Olympic Agenda was a reform programme not only for the IOC but for the entire Olympic Movement. This is why Olympic Agenda always was and will continue to be a journey of unity in diversity – a journey of change and togetherness.” He concluded, “Let us look now at the results of Olympic Agenda through this lens of change and togetherness. Let us take pride in the shared success of our Olympic Agenda. We did it for the athletes. We did it for our beloved Olympic Movement. And, my dear friends and colleagues, we did it together.”

The highlights of the Olympic Agenda reforms summarised in 10 topics, including details, facts and figures can also be viewed by clicking on the links below.

1. The Olympic Games – Games of a New Era
Olympic Agenda has revolutionised how the Olympic Games are awarded, organised and presented to a global audience that is bigger than ever.

2. Athletes front and centre
The IOC has empowered athletes within the decision-making processes of the IOC and put them at the heart of the Olympic Movement.

3. Solidarity
Solidarity has been greatly reinforced by the Olympic Agenda.

4. Refugee Olympic Team and Olympic Refuge Foundation
In 2015, the IOC created the first-ever Refugee Olympic Team (EOR) to give athletes who had been forced to leave their homes the chance to compete on the world’s largest sporting stage alongside their peers from the 206 National Olympic Committees. This was followed in 2017 by the launch of the Olympic Refuge Foundation (ORF), to ensure that young people affected by displacement thrive through safe sport on a daily basis.

5. Gender Equality
The IOC has made huge strides in gender equality both on and off the field of play – from the training ground to the boardroom and beyond.

6. Sustainable development
The IOC has embraced the role of sport as an important enabler for the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

7. Relevance
The Olympic Games and the IOC are more relevant than ever in today’s divided world. They unite the entire world in peaceful competition.

8. Digitalisation
The IOC has been a pioneer of digitalisation in sport.

9. Credibility and good governance
Through the Olympic Agenda, the IOC has completely overhauled its governance processes and has strengthened the protection of clean athletes.

10. Economic and Financial Resilience
The IOC is a non-governmental, not-for-profit association. It is entirely privately funded and distributes 90 per cent of its revenue to sport worldwide.

Bacardi Cocktail Trends Report: Spirits Industry Embraces Practical Progress

2025 Bacardi Cocktail Trends Report

As discerning consumers get wise to greenwashing practices, they’re looking to the industry to get pragmatic with sustainable progress. Beyond large-scale gimmicks and one-time activations, their focus is on incremental changes that they – and brands – can put into action.

The 2025 Bacardi Cocktail Trends Report highlights this practically with research among consumers and bartenders. In France and Germany, respondents ranked buying local and reducing single-use packaging as the environmental considerations most important when choosing spirits and liquor, while around one quarter of consumers in Mexico (29%) and Spain (24%) would pay more for a cocktail made with locally sourced ingredients.

The topic remains key inside the industry too, where over three quarters of respondents (79%) in the Bacardi Global Brand Ambassador Survey list sustainability as a key concern – also listing supporting local businesses (69%) and eliminating single-use plastic (68%) as their top priorities for 2025.

Setting this future in motion, Bacardi has completed the world’s first commercial production of a glass spirits bottle fueled by hydrogen. The brand worked with premium glassmaker, Hrastnik1860®, to pioneer new technology that powered a glass furnace with hydrogen as its primary energy source and in doing so cut the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions typically produced as a byproduct of glass bottle production. The bottle, which for the purposes of the trial was the iconic ST-GERMAIN® elderflower liqueur bottle, is identical in appearance to the bottle produced using traditional methods.

Innovative processing methods are also meeting consumers’ demand for high-quality, low intervention serves. People continue to care about the ingredients and what goes into their spirits, with 61% of consumers globally saying they would choose additive-free spirits over the alternative. The appeal is even higher in countries like India (77%), Italy (75%) and Spain (72%), according to the Bacardi Global Consumer Survey.

Beko champions energy efficiency with EnergySpin technology this Earth Day

Celebrating Earth Day’s ‘Our Power, Our Planet’ theme with technology that makes energy efficiency accessible in everyday life

ISTANBUL, April 21, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — As the world unites behind the call for renewable energy under this year’s Earth Day theme ‘Our Power, Our Planet,’ Beko, Europe’s No.1 home appliance manufacturer, is reinforcing its commitment to energy efficiency with its innovative EnergySpin washing machine technology.

Celebrated by over a billion people across nearly 200 countries every 22 April, Earth Day 2025 calls for a tripling of global renewable energy generation by 2030 – an ambitious goal that requires both systemic change and individual action. With home energy consumption playing a crucial role in this transition, energy-efficient appliances have become essential to a more sustainable future.

EnergySpin technology in Beko’s washing machines represents a significant advancement in home energy efficiency, thanks to its innovative drum movement, achieving up to 35 percent energy savings* in comparison to the company’s traditional washing machines in everyday wash programmes – not just in eco mode. By optimising energy use across all settings, EnergySpin ensures that sustainability is built into everyday routines, while maintaining washing performance and aspiring to a sustainable future.

Sustainable manufacturing

Beko’s commitment to efficiency extends beyond its products to its manufacturing facilities. The company has dramatically increased its installed renewable energy capacity, reaching 90.2 MWp by the end of 2024- almost doubling its original 2030 target of 50 MWp. Beko’s factories – powered by AI, machine learning, and IoT – are benchmarks for sustainable manufacturing and Industry 4.0. Following its plants in Romania and Eskişehir, Beko’s Ankara Dishwasher Plant has also been recognised by the World Economic Forum’s Global Lighthouse Network, for its leadership in advanced, sustainable manufacturing.

“Addressing global energy challenges requires every sector to be part of the solution,” said Akın Garzanlı, CMO at Beko. “Sustainability is not only about developing energy-efficient products but also about producing them responsibly. By integrating AI and digitalisation into our production, we optimise resource use while reducing waste. At the same time, our technologies such as EnergySpin empower consumers to reduce energy consumption without requiring them to sacrifice performance or convenience.”

As energy costs rise globally, Beko’s energy-efficient appliances provide a practical solution – helping consumers find a way to reduce both their environmental footprint and their energy bills, making sustainability an easy choice.

Global recognition

Beko’s leadership in clean energy and efficiency has been recognised internationally. With a score of 89/100, the company retained its top position in the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment (S&P CSA) in the household durables (DHP) sector for the sixth year in a row as of November 22nd, 2024. The company was also included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index for the eighth consecutive year in 2024. Additionally, Beko ranked first in the Real Leaders Top Impact Companies of 2025, underscoring its leadership in sustainable innovation.

With the rise of renewable energy technologies and increasing awareness of climate issues, energy-efficient home appliances offer a simple yet powerful way for consumers to take part in the transition to a more sustainable energy future.

* In addition to the Eco 40-60 program (declaration program) the energy consumption of Cottons, Synthetics, Xpress/Super Express, Delicates, Mix, Handwash, Wool, Darkcare, and Outdoor/Sports programs is up to 35% less compared to the Beko WTV 9636 XS0 washing machine, without compromising washing performance. Children at the Center: World Creativity & Innovation Day Statement by Education Cannot Wait Director Yasmine Sherif

NEW YORK, April 21, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Creativity and innovation are essential to finding extraordinary solutions to abnormal problems. Now more than ever we must continue finding creative solutions to protect the world’s most vulnerable children from the excruciating pain of war, dispossession and destruction of their last hope: a quality education. The current humanitarian and development funding levels are falling. However, with creativity we can prevent further deterioration and instead turn towards an upward direction.

With bold, innovative action and connected problem-solving in a world of abundance we can better connect the dots between donors, governments, the private sector, UN agencies, civil society and other key partners to unleash our wealth of humanity towards those in unwanted scarcity: the world’s most vulnerable children whose only wealth is their hope for a quality education.

In 1543, Nicolaus Copernicus published his groundbreaking theory, “On the Revolutions of Heavenly Spheres.” His new ideas sparked a revolution by placing the Sun – rather than the Earth – at the centre of our solar system.

We need a Copernican Revolution of our own today – one guided by data, evidence, creativity and innovation, and the highest of all values: empathy. We can then deliver on the reforms envisioned in the UN80 Initiative, Pact for the Future and other initiatives designed to reimagine the delivery of humanitarian aid. In short, we must place children at the center of our universe and use education as our single most powerful instrument to tap their vast potential. Only then can their hope turn into reality.

Education Cannot Wait (ECW), the global fund for education in emergencies and protracted crises in the United Nations, is embracing evidence-driven reforms to streamline our operations and ensure every donor dollar creates a positive impact on the lives of children caught on the frontlines of conflict, climate change and forced displacement. With the lowest overhead costs, we are lean, agile and fast-acting, and we place children and adolescents in emergencies and protracted crises at the center of everything we do.

Our work – and our value proposition – is driven by data and evidence to achieve optimal results and impact. Let’s start with the growing needs. When ECW became operational in 2017, it was estimated that approximately 75 million crisis-affected children needed education support. Today, with violent conflicts in places like the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Gaza, Sudan and Ukraine, horrific shocks from climate change-related natural disasters, and a unprecedented rise in human displacement and migration, that number has skyrocketed to nearly a quarter of a billion – 234 million to be precise.

Data also tell us that a lack of quality education – especially across the Global South – is costing us trillions of dollars in lost opportunities every year. “Limited educational opportunities and barriers for girls cost the world economy between US$15 trillion and US$30 trillion. In nine countries, the cost of out-of-school children was estimated to be greater than the value of an entire year of GDP growth,” according to the World Bank.

Additionally, investing US$1 in early childhood education can generate returns as high as US$17 for the most disadvantaged children worldwide. Imagine the impact every dollar could have in creating a million more opportunities for the world’s most vulnerable children.

Given the current funding environment, we must embrace our creative problem-solving and solutions orientation. Besides revisiting budgets and finding human-centred solutions to those left furthest behind, another creative approach toward resource mobilization comes from impact investments. Through partnerships with visionary businesses like Swiss Cantonal Banks and Tribe Impact Capital LLP, Education Cannot Wait is able to connect private capital with public goods as a driving force toward long-term economic growth, resilience and security. With the ability to crowd-in resources and expertise, pool funds and broker partnerships, ECW is igniting global reform to deliver on a development sector, such as education, in humanitarian crises with coordination, speed and impact.

Together with our strategic donor partners, ECW is reimagining the way we deliver life-saving education supports on the frontlines of the world’s most severe humanitarian crises. One thing is certain, by following Copernicus’ evidence-based vision – and placing children at the center of our collective efforts – we can make the seemingly impossible possible – provided that we all do our part keeping our eyes on what really matters: those left furthest behind and every child’s right to a quality education – especially when this is their very last hope. By transforming their lives through a quality education, we empower them to arise from their suffering and become creative and innovative contributors to their society and, indeed, all of humanity.
