CNH Industrial Highlights Digitalization Strategy at International Green Week
This January, CNH Industrial attended International Green Week in Berlin. Now in its 87th edition, the event is the world’s leading trade fair for food, agriculture and horticulture.
Giulia Catini, Head of EU Affairs at CNH Industrial was present. She participated in a panel discussion on the EU Data Act, alongside representatives of the European Commission, the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture and other industry stakeholders.
The Data Act is a key pillar of the EU’s digital strategy, which is aiming to standardize rules on fair access and data usage across the region.
During the discussion, Giulia highlighted CNH Industrial’s own digitalization strategy and the company’s vision for smart, sustainable farming.
Due to the current economic climate, higher prices are being placed on energy and commodities. To ease this pressure, she said, farmers are now focusing more than ever on precision farming technology and exploring how it can support sustainable business models across the industry.
Thanks to its advanced tech stack, CNH Industrial offers an array of solutions to help farmers increase their yields. These include: GPS auto-guidance, sensors for the real time collection and analysis of data and connectivity services for remote fleet monitoring and optimized planning.
But, Giulia explained, to benefit from it there must be fair and transparent rules in place. This creates trust, as data sharing is handled appropriately and securely.
CNH Industrial’s agricultural brands were also present. Representing Case IH was Alfred Guth, the brand’s Communications Manager for Germany. He moderated a panel titled: “Digitalization as a task for the community.”
Elsewhere, at the fair’s large agricultural booth, New Holland Agriculture showcased its T6 Methane Power tractor, the world’s first commercialized natural gas tractor. Case IH also invited attendees to try out a simulator seat.
Customers are at the heart of CNH Industrial’s actions. Through the company’s efforts, agriculture is becoming smarter, safer and more sustainable.

Entergy Volunteers Honor the Dream by Addressing Hunger Across Louisiana
At Entergy, giving back to the community doesn’t begin and end with January 16 but continues throughout the year. Dr. King once said, “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?’” Our employees respond through action. Last month, Entergy volunteers across Louisiana collaborated with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana and Healthy Blue committed to sponsor 200,000 meals at food banks and other organizations addressing hunger in Louisiana. Over 600 volunteers from all three organizations helped surpassed the 200,000 meals goal and address hunger in Louisiana.
Through Feeding Louisiana and The Pack Shack‘s “Feed the Funnel” program, volunteers packed the meals at a series of events in recognition of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, which is a National Day of Service. These actions are a part of our commitment to a more inclusive company for our employees, customers, partners and the communities we serve.
“Volunteerism is an integral part of Entergy’s mission,” said Patty Riddlebarger, vice president of corporate social responsibility. “Our participation in volunteer events like the Day of Service is one of many reasons why Entergy has been honored the past seven years as one of 50 most community-minded corporations in the U.S. by the Points of Light Foundation.”
The packing parties were full of excitement. The DJ set the tone at the Second Harvest Food Bank event in New Orleans. Volunteers were joined by special guests from the New Orleans Pelicans NBA team, the Pelicans dance team, the infamous “King Cake Baby” and Pelicans player Naji Marshall.
Volunteer events across Louisiana included:

Air Transport World Names American Airlines 2023 Eco-Airline of the Year
FORT WORTH, Texas, February 14, 2023 /3BL Media/ – Air Transport World (ATW), the leading media brand serving the information needs of the global airline and commercial air transport communities, announced today American Airlines was named the 2023 Eco-Airline of the Year.
The award marks the latest recognition of American’s progress toward its ambitious sustainability goals.
“American is actively incorporating sustainability at every level of our business, from the fuel we buy to the food we serve our customers,” American CEO Robert Isom said. “And our all-the-above approach is just getting started. As Eco-Airline of the Year, we will continue to lead the industry as an innovator in this space and affirm our unyielding commitment to build an American Airlines that will thrive forever.”
With the airline’s most extensive fleet renewal effort in industry history and substantial investments in fuel of the future, ATW highly regarded American’s work to run a more fuel-efficient operation with more fuel-efficient aircraft powered increasingly by low-carbon fuel and new technology.
Fuel-efficiency is maximized by a new application called smart gating, which optimizes gate assignments at congested airports. Smart gating is currently in use at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, Charlotte Douglas International Airport and Miami International Airport and saves an estimated 1.4 million gallons of fuel and 13,500 metric tons of carbon dioxide annually.
Ongoing fleet renewal efforts have also helped the airline improve fuel efficiency by more than 10% since 2013, which has helped save 1.9 billion gallons of fuel and prevented 19 million metric tons of carbon dioxide. Today, half of American’s U.S. mainline fleet is less than 10 years old.
Leading the industry in sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) consumption, the world’s largest airline used 2 million gallons of SAF in 2022 and doubled its usage year over year. SAF agreements with Gevo, Inc., Neste and Aemetis bring the airline’s total low-carbon fuel commitments to more than 620 million gallons. American is also the first U.S. airline to make two direct investments focused on the development of both hydrogen-electric propulsion technology and the future of hydrogen distribution logistics.
American was the first airline in the world to receive validation from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) for its intermediate carbon emissions reduction goal. American’s science-based target is to reduce its carbon intensity by 45% by 2035, compared to a 2019 baseline.
The airline also appeared on the Dow Jones Sustainability North America Index in 2022 for the second year in a row, improving its score by more than 20% year over year.
Selected by a panel of editors and analysts at ATW, Routes, Aviation Week and CAPA, the ATW Airline Industry Achievement Awards recognize excellence across a broad range of airline operations and is a coveted accomplishment in the air transport industry.
“At a time when sustainability is a driving force in the aviation industry, American Airlines has a clear vision for the future of sustainable aviation and is making meaningful strides to reach their goals. With a comprehensive carbon emissions reduction strategy that touches nearly every part of their company, awarding Eco-Airline of the Year to American is incredibly well-deserved in what was the most competitive field yet,” said ATW Editor-in-Chief Karen Walker.
