Households across the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area (DMV) can sign up for the new Mill + Compost Crew service. Starting from $39/month, customers receive a Mill food recycler—which dries and grinds food scraps into clean, dry grounds—plus pickups by Compost Crew either monthly or every other month. The collected grounds are processed at Compost Crew’s local sites into a nutrient-rich soil amendment used on nearby farms and gardens. Households are also eligible to receive free finished compost each year as part of the program.
