Maisons du Monde strengthens its leadership team with the appointment of Marc Ténart alongside John Browett
The Board of Directors of Maisons du Monde announces the appointment of John Browett, currently Chairman of the Board, as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. He will combine his responsibilities as Chairman of the Board with those of Chief Executive Officer until the Board’s ongoing search for a new CEO is completed. He will be supported by Marc Ténart, who joins Maisons du Monde as Deputy Chief Executive Officer (directeur général adjoint). François-Melchior de Polignac will step down as Chief Executive Officer on October 26, 2026. This strengthened leadership structure brings together two highly experienced executives to accelerate the Group’s ongoing transformation and strengthen operational execution.
At its meeting on 26 October 2026, the Board of Directors decided to appoint John Browett as Chief Executive Officer of the Group, effective 27 October 2026, in addition to his existing responsibilities as Chairman of the Board. Marc Ténart joins Maisons du Monde as Deputy Chief Executive Officer (directeur général adjoint). Together, they will work closely with the Executive Committee to deliver on the Group’s priorities.
Marc Ténart brings more than 30 years of experience in retail and the home improvement and furnishings sectors. He has held senior leadership positions at Castorama and Brico Dépôt, led Kingfisher France, and subsequently served as CEO of Conforama and Lapeyre. His track record combines a deep understanding of customers, strong commercial expertise and extensive experience in leading operational transformations.
The strengthened leadership team will focus on accelerating Maisons du Monde’s ongoing transformation, combining financial discipline with renewed commercial momentum. Key priorities include improving product availability, enhancing the customer experience, strengthening store and digital performance, maintaining cost discipline and optimising cash management. The Group will build on the strength of its brand, the commitment of its teams and the full support of its shareholders and Board of Directors.

John Browett
John Browett has extensive experience leading major retail groups in the UK and internationally. He previously served as Chief Executive Officer of Dunelm plc, one of the UK’s leading home furnishings and décor retailers. He has been Chairman of the Board of Directors of Maisons du Monde since 26 June 2025.
Marc Ténart
Marc Ténart began his career in 1992 at Disneyland Paris, where he held various finance positions. He joined Castorama France in 2000 before becoming Managing Director of Brico Dépôt Spain in 2008. Appointed Managing Director of Castorama France in 2014, he went on to lead Kingfisher France in 2017, overseeing both Castorama and Brico Dépôt. He subsequently became CEO of Conforama in 2019 and served as Chairman and CEO of the Lapeyre Group from 2021 to 2024. He also served as President of the French Home Improvement Retailers’ Federation.
